Hey,
I want a good pair of earphones with a mic and button so that i can skip tracks using the button. I dont want to spend more the 10$ or 600-650₹. I already have the brilliant coloud pop but sadly the mic button wont let me change tracks. And i am too paranoid about locking and unlocking my phone everytime i want to change the song for the risk of damaging the power button.

I like my skull candy earbuds with inline mic. I use an app call Jays Headset controls to customize the button actions. They cost $20. I wouldn't worry about damaging the power button though.
I have these coloud pop earphones with a mic and button. But im not able to change tracks using the mic button only on the moto g. I tried various apps from the play store to help me do that. But to no avail. Any idea why that happens?

Look at this product. Hands down the best budget earphones I've ever had. Beats most of 50$ or around 2000Rs earphones easily. You wouldn't regret it. I've been using this product for 2 years now
If I remember correctly, these earphones were also featured in the verge - this is my next recently. So have a look at it
Sony xb90ex. Best earphones..... Balanced sound....awesome sub bass.... Use viper4android if rooted or power amp if not rooted

On an iPhone, you click the headset's button once and music plays/pauses. Double-squeeze and it skips to the next track.
Anyone able to get this to work on the Captivate? If so, what app?
I tried Captivate's default music player app and doubletwist but it can only play/pause when using the headphone button.
not possible
Yes.. it is possible.
The player 3 (aka cubed) does this. Click headphone button to play/pause... double click to skip to next song... and long click to bring the player up to the front. Works great.
(From my Captivate via XDA app)
Most of the 3rd party media players let you do this... I personally use MixZing!
Damn I really miss this. I guess 3rd party music player for me it is.

Got double-squeeze to work on "3" (cubed) app. The interface needs getting used to, but at least it works.
Thanks for the tips!
Saw yesterday while browsing some apps, there is an add on or whatever for the stock music player and headphones that allows skipping, search, etc. Didn't get around to downloading it so can't say how well it works.
Jason
B-tunes also does this. At least the single click to play/pause. Never tried the rest with it. I don't have much time with b-tunes.
Works with Pandora, as well as the Vanilla 2.1 music player (just installed the .apk for it, titanium uninstalled the galaxy s player.
in winamp, single click plays/pauses, double skips to the next track, and long squeeze brings up the winamp player.
The stock music player + stock headphones works like this. I am not sure if itll skip to the next song, but I know it will pause/play
Sorry to revive an old thread!
This is a different device but i have a similar question (cant start new thread yet).
I have Samsung Galaxy S3 and all im trying to do is skip back a track using the supplied earphones. I cant get it to work can someone help?!
You should try clicking three times. The clocks should be done in rapid succession of each other.

Thanks for reply. I have tried that but it just skips forward. Looking around the net it looks like its not possible! Seems crazy! Wonder if it will be a jellybean addition? Have found a program that you can use to program buttons but still seems like a crazy feature not to be integrated!
In my experience the click to go back is usually just one more than the clocks to go forward. Please try again. Also what brand headphones are you using?

Hi all.
I have a Dual brand receiver in my car, and one thing it did with my old blackberry and even droid 2 was when I pressed the talk button for the radio, it launched the voice commands on my phone. That seemed to go away with the droid 3. Not sure if it was a moto thing or gingerbread thing.
My question is, does anyone know of a script or app to kind of get this functionality back? Kinda defeats the purpose of hands free if I have to grab the phone when driving.
Sent from my DROID3 using xda premium
Ok let me ask this...
How do I programmatically look for a keypress from a bt device?
Is there some code I can run as a script to return the keypress I am looking for. If so I can then just do a listener script that waits for an on press event for that key and just have it launch voice search.
Sent from my DROID3 using xda premium
So I got a key event app that shows button presses and low and behold, the one butto in the car makes no impact on the droid 3. So I wonder what made the other phones, noteably the berry, listen for it?
Is there something I can do to open up the range of bluetooth, e.g. via the stacks sdk?
I really would like this functionality back tbh.
Can any devs weigh in?

Is it possible to use for example, Bose IE2 headphones, inline volume controls and/or middle button? A lot of headphones come standard with the 3 button controls on them. I find it hard to imagine that Amazon overlooked this potential feature or that it would be impossible for it to be modified to work in some way. Looking forward to feedback.

bbanghyung,
If the volume control is Passive and does not send volume control commands back to
the Kindle it will work. If it is an Active volume control and expects to communicate
to the Kindle, no go, it will not work. Either way, it does not hurt the Kindle to try.
The Kindle is even missing a MIC Input with the jack which is a real pet peeve of mine.
I can not believe they have made a Tablet without MIC input - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. So,
the certainly would not do an active interface on the Kindle. Bummer, I know.
Just got it to work in one app. It appeared a little buggy though. That's unfortunate about support for the Mic. I can't understand that. Thanks as usual!

bbanghyung,
Do you remember which application worked with the Bose Headphones? I found an application on Google Play
named Headset Icon by Dev.Android - the application appears to work with the Bose Headsets, maybe this is
your solution? Here is a link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devandroid.headseticon&hl=en
I believe it was maple mp3. Thanks for the suggestion ill check it out.

I gave the program a whirl but no luck in using volume and/or control buttons. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I have now tried a couple of different earphones and also a couple of earphone button apps, but I still can't skip tracks with the mic button double tap - the phone instead re-dials the last used phone number.. I am beginning to think it may be a fatal flaw in the phone.
Any help here would be appreciated.
Thanks

I got a set of urbeats bundled with the phone. They allow the skip track and other features perfectly.

With mine, I got a similar set but it was not branded as urbeats.
Did yours have more than 1 button, ie. A dedicated skip track button, or do you have to double tap the singular mic button like me?
Are you using the default music player?
Thanks

Here is a pic of the controls. Works on the default player.
Can test a few more players if you like.
Thank you very much for your help. I now know what I need to at last get the track change stuff working.

Where did you purchase these if you don't mind my asking? I've never seen beats that say they're specifically for HTC phones..
I got them free from Phones4u.

I also have the urbeats headphones and the next and previous tracks buttons work perfectly on both the stock player and the Google music player. On the pocketcasts app they skip forward or backward 20 seconds. In short these headphones seem to work perfectly with the HTC One and have great sound quality too. I also got them free from phones4u.

The urbeats headphones were only given to the first 500 people who preordered the phone. I'm sure the op is talking about the headphones that come bundled with the phone itself. The headphones that come in the box don't allow track skipping, only play, pause & accept calls

If the remote is built into the headphones it should work yes? I have the earpod from apple will they work? (or other apple headphones with remote built in)
Also have a white pair of in ear beats with remote
Will these work to change the songs??

I have tried one time a Iphone 4 headphone on a HTC Device and it works perfectly. The only issue is the volume up & down doesn't work. But play, pause, next, previous track, mic all work flawlessly.

Beats Wireless work perfectly with Poweramp ^_^
I couldnt't find anything related, so I suppose that there is nothing available over internet for my request.
I want to be able to use selected button action on bluetooth headset to be used as remote camera shutter button.
If someone interested, I can prepare detailed software requirements for the software.

I can say that I would be interested, as I mount my phone on my motorcycle, and I use a SENA SMH10. But I feel that it might have more restiction d/t the Sena itself and limited buttons. Although that would be really cool to have better control and take pictures and or video without doing much. Voice control (S-Voice galaxy s4) just isn't quite there yet. Wish there was something better. Even Google Now has a lot of limitations.
