[Q] Root has no use for SD cards? - LG Optimus L90

I rooted my D410 recently.
Installed SuperSU and ESFilemanager.
I used an app SDfix from playstore to gain write permission to sd cards.
Yet still ESfile explorer, MX player and many other apps get an EACCESS permission denied error.
Even though permissions.xml now enabled media-rw for sd cards.
Any help plz?

I will be installing it soon.
The problem faced is that getExternalStorageDirectory()
Is the function used by almost 90% of the programmers.
I remember n gingerbread it gave address of SD card.
Somewhere down the road it now only gives address of internal memory.
Wonder if Xposed tweaks that.
Too many nexus & apple users out there. The dont even know there are removable microSDs
EDIT: Well It worked!! I installed "Kitkat SD full access". Didnt find the other one.
But ever since my install of Xposed., my screen displays pure white as off white. Everything hasa slight brownish tinge. Weird

Guide for mounts2sd?

Can anyone provide a guide on how to install/configure mounts2sd for the Nexus One on Jelly Bean (CM 10.1) so that I can move my apps from my internal memory to my sd-ext?
I installed the app from Google Play and had nothing but trouble with it. It initially says that busybox isn't configured properly and that the init.d script is either missing or not installed. I proceed to configure busybox and install the init.d script, but after rebooting my "downloaded" apps disappear. These downloaded apps include the Google Play Store and mounts2sd! So even if I wanted to reverse the process, I can't because the app is gone.
I would appreciate if anyone could explain how to do this properly since there is very limited space on the Nexus One, especially after installing Jelly Bean on a custom HBOOT.
Thanks!
I think you have to put mounts2sd.zip on your SD card and flash it from recovery. That's how I use it and it's really straight forward if you have flashed anything before. I wasn't aware it could be installed as an app from playstore. Are you sure it's notjust a GUI for the script?

I'm not sure really. I thought it was another way of doing it, but thanks for the info. If I flash it through recovery, you're saying that it won't give me any errors?

Nope, you should be fine with that. However, I recommend you flash it on right after you flash the ROM and before you install any apps.

I'm having tons of trouble with the app. I can't get it to work..I must be missing something. I've tried flashing it right after installing the rom (CM 10.1). I've tried installing it from the app store. I've even tried SuperSu just to see if something weird was happening there. I probably reflashed the rom like 5 times last night trying different ways of installing Mounts2SD.
Could it be that I used 4EXT Recovery RC9? I dunno how much of an effect using that recovery may have had since it is in testing..

What kind of problems are you having? Can you be more specific?
How to install on ROM MIUIv5
First: Mounts2SD is such a great tool!! Incredbly super software!
On Nexus One with 32GB sd card:
What best settings would you recommend in mounts2SD?
Is it good to make a swap partition? 1GB?
Which on should be set to sd-card? Apps, data, Cache & Dalvik-Cache and even System Apps?
One point:
If i configure the cache&system cache to be in internal memory, then the internal memory is quite full, so it's impossible to install bigger apps from play store. This only works, if i keep everything to sd-memory so that the internal memory is free. Now I found the setting "System > Storage Treshold". Would this one help with this problem?
But the max. setting is 10% (=20MB on Nexus1). Would that help even with bigger apps (> 20 MB) to install?
I now have all (except system apps) moved to sd, so that i can install bigger apps from play store, but my Nexus One it now very slow and constantly removing Apps from memory etc.
Who can give some hints?
Regards, Marc
I think better use INT2EXT to partition

[Q] Apps wont detect SDcard

Some of my apps, like goldendict and rootexplorer, can't detect my sdcard, but my phone do detect. In fact, poweramp can read and play songs from it. Already tried resintalling those apps. Problem persist.
I'm on stock firmware 4.3 rooted and with doomlord dual recovery
i'm having a similar problem.
it's not like they don't detect it, they don't go there automaticly, whatsapp didn't look for backups there, bsplayer won't load movies from there, apps-backup don't look for backup files on the sdcard.
but if i try to manually tell any of them to go there some of them find it.
strange thing.. didn't happen in 4.2.2, i use iHackers rom 2.0
Did you tried the apps i said? How do i manually them? They don't have this option.
I'm thinking in going back to 4.2 what's the difference between them? Also, i can't mount /system is this a 4.3 problem or 4.2 have it to?

4.2 can mount /system as R/W because if you root it, you get full root but currently on locked bootloaders on android 4.3 you get only partial root.
I have root explorer and it can detect my sd card. Are you sure you are going to the right directory? /sdcard1 or /storage/sdcard1
Regards,
~J2C
But i have unlocked bootloader, what i got wrong? And you don't understand, root explorer don't even open. Goldendict open and says that i have no sdcard, then it closes...
SOLVED!! I just disabled Xprivacy from xposed and now everything works. I didn't configured yet, so it may work. I'll try to enable and configure it to have both working.
Shteren, do you use xprivacy too?

You need to have a custom recovery installed to flash a pre rooted rom. It's easier to use Towelroot to root your phone

Please install supersu from playstore and root browser
I have superSU but under the Apps tab, it's blank, how do I add "quick pic" there?
I've launched "quick pic" and tried to delete some photos, it can't be done.
I have run the SDFix, it reports that it's been done.
I used root brower and check, the permission for the SDcard is no "777".
I tried to change it to "777" and was told it's not allow by the system.
SuperSU did not pop out at any time to "enable my apps for root access"
how did u guys do it on Sony Xperia Z?

2) use root checker and it says it's rooted
3) using google play, and download superSU
4) load superSU and update binary
5) when using root browser, i can see ext sdcard not in 777
6) tried to change it to 777 and it says system not allow
7) installed titanium backup and it says it's rooted,
8) run titanium backup and back up some files
9) not able to see the titanium backup folder via usb thru the computer
10) only able to see it via the root browser, storage -> emulated -> titanium backup, and it's not 777

i'm thinking of using custom firmware

The steps you did are all right. It looks like there's somehow a software issue..

[Q] Help with root problem (apps that use sd card broken)

I rooted with kingo and installed Urdriod version 2 via safestrap version 3.75. Then installed Titanium backup pro. Problem is Titanium doesn't work anymore. All the options are not there. It is saying current backup location is inaccessible.
I then noticed that many of my applications that work in conjunction with the sd card do not work. Youtube is broken on 4G. Evernote is broken. Many of my games are broke as well.
I then did a clean install of another Rom Dynamic Kat. It didn't fix anything.
Any suggestions?

You shouldn't need the zip did you try installing the apk?
It looks like its installed with the rom but not active. I cannot activate it and i cant seem to get the module to work either. I tried the apk but it just says that i already have it and it wont install.
Phone is alot less useful if it cant interact with the sd card. Is there another way to get this going or to get the phone to read the sd?
Is superuser installed and working?
yes it is. I don't believe it's that.

What error message are you getting when you try to install the framework from the xposed installer app? You might also try uninstalling the xposed installer app then installing the version from the download link
Here is exactly what the message says:
SDcard:/storage/emulated/0/android/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/files
Copying Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip
Could not extract Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip
I know the copy I have isn't working but if I erase it I might never even get a copy on. But the copy I have won't even install or update.

Looks like this came up in the xposed forum here
Sounds like the xposed updater app extracts a backup to the external sd card during installation...which you can't access, hence the error. The consensus seems to be to install this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount&hl=en to fix the folder permissions then xposed should install properly.
Well I think installing FolderMount did the trick. after i put it on the phone it detected a script error and asked if i wanted to fix it.i agreed and it rebooted and that did it! Thanks everyone!!!!!

[Q] SuperSU - app no longer has access

Hi there - rooted my Samsung Galaxy S5 last week only because I didn't like the fact that I couldn't use QuickPic to manage the pictures on my SD card. After the root and installing SuperSU everything worked fine and I was able to delete and edit items on the SD card. This weekend I removed NextApp SDFix because I didn't think I needed it anymore (gives rights to SD card).
Anyway, after a reboot my Camera can no longer right to the SD card and QuickPic can't either. When I open SuperSU I don't see an option to add apps to have SU rights. I deleted QuickPic and reinstalled thinking SuperSU would ask about having root access, it didn't and this app is not listed. Any suggestions?
Is write protection disabled? If it isn't, root is lost upon reboot.

Applications do not normally ask for root level access, i.e. QuickPic will always use only the access given it by Android. Having the ability to use root level access does not mean that applications will be aware of that nor that they will care.
Applying the SD-card fix that you had changes the access groups of the SD-card so that applications using their normal access rights can read and write to it. So for applications which do not try for root level access you will need to reapply that SD-card access fix.
If that is the ONLY reason you want root level access on your device then it is unnecessary, and it is an unnecessary security risk.
ADDED:
Regarding the previous paragraph, root level access might still be necessary if your fix must be applied each boot.
