Because USB OTG is not supported by Samsung on this device. Only Novafusion's ROMs have it at the moment, but it's still in beta.

Our hardware support USB OTG but not the kernel you have to use a kernel that have USB OTG support
Try this out : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186034

Please stop creating new topics on this... its meaning that you are spamming the forum, I've deleted the other 2 threads you made about this.
Hello guys, this thread is meant for users to ask questions or requests for CodeR0M 6.0.
We are already building it for the S1, This could take same time... It depends on the internal changes to the android code.

i9000 have OTG support by hardware. But it is need external power and kernel software support. Kernel by HumberOS have OTG support, but it is buggy, i try it, but not success. USB host is found but cant mount usb flash drive. USB OTG work fine on some JB and KK kernels, like in this videos:

oh i see. i want to connect flash drive or cardreader with OTG. because my sdcard slot is broken so i just have internal storage.
but thank you for the work to bring Marshmallow to our legacy SGS.
Hmm, I think it doesn't work on the most roms because u need support in the rom too, not only in the kernel.

No. Usb OTG support is depend from kernel only. Also some software is require. Like Usb Host Contriller and Paragon NTFS mounter.
It will be great if Code Rom will have CM12 themes supporting. If it is impossible, then will be good add full black theme.
Wish you success dear Jeffrey

Hello,
I hve p8lite - ale-l21 - with stock rom. Is there any chance to get working OTG here?
I would like to use USB ethernet adapter if thats possible
Also i have bought small camera on ebay - I really need it for preview purposes. Is that possible to use?
I have heard about problems with power on other devices. I also have bought cable with another usb plug for power feed.
But I see in app that there is no support OTG. How can I enable it?
regards
I tried to connect mobile HDD, mouse, even pendrive, all with external charger but it never worked. P8 Lite doesn't support OTG.
No one has managed to enable it during last 2,5 year, so I guess it's impossible.
ah, thank you for your reply
Do you know any other device where OTG would be work OK ? I would like to have portable network-diagnosis set (ping, tracert, etc basic tools) in pocket...
I also have BT keyboard.
There is no otg on p8 lite ale. No hardware suport, means no power supply through usb and is disabled in kernel.

There are a lot of phones that support OTG. Just check any phone spec sites, they usually tell you if a phone supports OTG.

It's actually enabled it Kernel. It's disabled in System software. You can flash the P8 Lite ROM with P8 Lite Kernel on Honor 4C and enable it in systemsoftware and it will work fine. My sister has one and I did that.

Yes!
I think is possible to use it but with a Y usb cale.
P8 lite doesn't power up on plug
.
Ah, it looks very optimistic.
You have stated that it needs Y cable - which I have had ordered in last weeks.
So, is there any chance to have OTG working when connecting with another power source with the OTG cable?
I have stock ROM - latest one - with root.
Should I change this, or maybe trying on this one?

I meant this! (This is from other phone, but there is point)
I have been playing around with my p9 lite trying to enable OTG support without
installing a custume made kernel or app-s like Elitekernel and EliteOTG.
I have achieved that my phone is OTG compatible, but I cannot test it ( I don't have a
working OTG cable yet).
I will post how I did it as soon as I can confirm that it works.
I have hit a problem - usb port does not provide the 5V to power the usb drive, but I am working on it.

otherwise the pins of my OTG cable have 0.07V not 0V

Well yes, but i don't like the idea that I need na extra app to do it, ecpecially if the system is capable of doing it by itself.
Have you tryed building a kernel only enabeling :
Code:
OTG support (USB_OTG)
CONFIG_USB_OTG:
The most notable feature of USB OTG is support for a
"Dual-Role" device, which can act as either a device
or a host. The initial role is decided by the type of
plug inserted and can be changed later when two dual
role devices talk to each other.
Select this only if your board has Mini-AB/Micro-AB
connector.
@vidra Thank you, for sharing as you do, I expected this, go ahead with the project: good:: good:

Probably not, since the kernel is device specific, but you can probably use another kernel with this enabled and then just
use HassanMirza01's EliteOTG app to turn it on and off.
