Dearest fellows of xda-developers,
I'm running into this problem now. My phone keeps constantly bootlooping. I can access both recovery aswell as the download mode. Tried a data/factory wipe and tried the cache wipe. That didn't do anything for me. Then tried to reinstall the complete firmware using Odin. Also not a solution. I've made a video of my problem without any comment though but I hope it helps you to figure out with me what's wrong with it. You'll find it as an attachment to this post. Thank you for your time and hope to get some responses soon.
With Kind regards,
John
You didn't provide enough details: which was the last installed ROM, is it still on stock firmware and if yes which one?
I see on your video that it has custom kernel and CWM recovery, do you know which kernel is that? Video is unsharp, I tought I saw for moment that it is CWM 2.5.1.2 so is it Speedmod kernel? I would try to reflash the kernel- if the issue came after flashing a kernel, then it is just a uncompatible kernel version for the ROM you were using. Or you can restore nandroid backup....don't tell you have none?
If nothing helps, you could try to flash Cyanogenmod 9 zip in recovery. It is anyway better than stock firmware.

Hi, I succesfully rooted Galaxy Note and flash CWM recovery, but I have problem with all Custom ROM's. After flash from recovery still have black screen. Only Custom ROM functional is Cassies XLR. ClockworkMod Recovery has strange behavior, sometimes lag in wiping or another action. I trying another Recovery - Thor Touch Recovery and has similiar problem, wiping or flashing is not completed (abort or reboot recovery). Why are you doing?
Thank you for answer

follow this thread for rooting and flashing.. this would help you..
Well yours is another note fussy about the quality of the rom installed. Lol
When i made lc1 rom i did so with chainfires latest kernel. However after i tries to boot i would get tje blackscreen.
I had to switch to francos kernel before i released the rom as that did not give the blackscreen. Several reports of this in cf thread.
Not sure what rom base you rootes from and which kernel.cwm packaged you installed.
Also are all roms u tried lc1. Can you try a la6 rom and see

Thank you for answer, but nothing solution is worked. Only possible solution is Chainfire ICS Repack, after flash is now working every AOSP's.
Problem solved, thank you for help.
You can now lock

Hello guys,
actually I've darkysrom with darky kernel on my SGS but I want to change to another custom firmware, mainly because of ICS.
Can I flash the new cfw just by using clockworkmod? Because I remember that there was something concerning the kernel which was important before flashing to another cfw.
Do I have to disable the lagfix before flashing?
Yes you must disable lagfix to avoid problems with the new kernel.

Do I have to seperately flash another kernel or is that been done by flashing the cfw?
Disable lagfix, wipe (data, cache, daliv cache), Flash ROM via CWM, flash new kernel. If it gives you bootloop go to CWM and flash kernel again. It should work ;-)
Hi,
i tried to flash slim ics but something wrong happened. first i opened clockwork recovery and wiped everything. after that i tried to install from zip and choosed the base file of ics slim rom but there came a message which said that the installation was aborted. then i've read in the tutorial that one has to format the system but it still didnt work.
now the phone doesnt boot anymore but i can get to clockwork recovery. i recognized that it is a modificated version from darky with the name "cwm darkycore recovery" or something like that.
can someone please help?
EDIT:
ok the phone is back alive. i flashed darkyrom with odin.
but i guess the same will happen if i try to flash slim ics again so there must be another way right?
EDIT2:
i got it. just installed the cm9 with cwm darky core recovery and after that installed slim ics.
if you've got to the trouble of odin-flashing the darkyrom back ,why didnt you just flash something else ?

Hi,
I as of yet, am not going close to any ICS build till the issue gets solved by someone.
so I am experimenting with different gb roms. i was using checkrom v6 but didnt like it, so followed steps to install darkyrom/alliancerom extreme edition. i followed the steps as I was told to install allianceota and flash the rom through there. it didnt work. so instead using cmw i flashed through recovery, it did flash but there no root.
so now, i reflashed a stock la6 rooted rom from here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025
this went smoothly with no problems, so i installed allianceota as normal, this time when i try to flash the following messages come up:
Installing Multi-CSC
Can't access to '/system/CSC/KOR/system/'
Successfully applied multi CSC"
and then it gives me the option to reboot, wipe cache and a few other options, not full recovery mode.
shall i just reflash the rom through recovery, or am I doing something wrong? and does the slight error above mean I have a problem with my note?
cheers in advance.
Let me just say that almost every ICS ROM out there now has disabled the MMC_CAP_ERASE code in the kernel that activates the eMMc bug and bricks your phone. If you want stock ICS, you can use SpeedMod or Franco kernels. If you want AOKP, there is that now. If you want CM9, there's a bunch of variations plus the official CM9 nightly. If you read through the OP and stickies, you will be okay.
Are you on stock recovery still? It sounds like it from the error you are getting. Try flashing CWM recovery and installing the GB rom with that. Follow Drketan's thread in Android Development.
hmmm, so would you advise me to use ics? is it much better? i dont want to use cm9 builds as i need the spen apps and so on. i have looked into kingdroid or alba.
I'll have to think hard about this. i may give it a shot soon though..
oh and btw, I fixed the problem, yep it was to do with cwm it wasn't installed with the stock rooted rom. as for allianceota, it still didnt flash the rom, i had to flash the rom through cwm manually.
cheers anyhow.

I love ICS a lot more than GB. If you want to use stock ICS, I would just use Franco or Speedmod kernels with it and be safe. Read both of their forums and decide what you want to do.
I had the same problem with rom deodex i had flash with odin 1.85 firmware gingerbread here ; http://www.hotfile.com/dl/152168378/f76281c/N7000XXLC1_N7000OXXLB3_ATO.zip.html... then i made wipe cache and cache dalvick .
I've just flashed AlBa repack latest one on xxlq2, I did it by following the steps,
I thought i had broken my phone, because when the flashing finished and i was rebooting, at the beginning when it welcome to galaxy note n7000 and then goes to the bootup video, it restarted that several times, then after like a few minutes it loaded the homescreen and startup.

Hello guys, i have a Note on stock ICS 4.0.4 and i was using SpeedMod kernel untill a few minutes ago, but now i tried to flash HydraCore v7 Standard(From here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tgt862w7t0dbbwf/wtCeOLxSsU/HydraCore 7 ) and after that my phone refuses to boot, it only gets to "Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000" screen but after that the screen just turns black and i need to remove the battery to try again or to go into CMW.
I tried to reflash the SpeedMod .zip but it doesn't work(The CMW version changes, but i still can't boot).
I'm a noob, brought my Note two months ago and i am an Android noob(Came from iOS).
Could someone here PLEASE help me?

Did you wipe cache and dalvik cache?
Next time read the threads for a new kernel or a new Custom Rom here in XDA and follow the installation instructions carefully. This reduces the chances of error dramatically.
But first try to clean the caches and reboot again.
Just wiped Dalvik Cache and Partition Cache but i still can't boot.

Please try the factoy reset.
As the poster before said: factory reset is a possibility.
But: only if you really sure you're using a recovery in a safe kernel. This should be from what you told before.
Another option I would try first:
So I would search for the Philz kernel for your ICS and install this first in CWM. Maybe you can boot with this into Android. If not this gives you a safe environment for factory reset or installing a new Rom
When you want revert from HydraCore v7 kernel you need to flash this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32806581&postcount=10783
After flashing this .zip, see if it boots properly, then you can try flash any other kernel that you want (speedmod, philz, or other version of HydraCore/Notecore)
Edit: oh I see this file isnt avilable anymore, so try this link:

Thanks dude, you saved me!
Didn't need to do the factory resets, used this .zip and now i can boot. Think i will stay with that kernel for a while now Maybe later i get back to SpeedMod. But, anyway, thank you all for helping me out with this guys, I really appreciate it.
I wanted to flash custom rom on my galaxy S. I flashed clean rom, then kernel with CWM, but there is a problem. Everytime I try to flash rom it ends with bootloop. I tried cm7, cm10, rootbox, miui 2.4. Every time is the same. It starts installing (only few secodns), then screen becames brighter, then restart and bootloop. I tried different kernels, roms but still same result.
ps. sorry for my english
Hi, here is a great guide to fix bootloops:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660596
Usually, doing factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache before and after intalling the ROM should fix the issue though.
I'm doing all necessary wipes, I can recover from bootloop easly but I want flash custom rom and I can't. Istalling zip lasts few second, not few minutes, there is a problem.
Sorry if this is too basic, but are you using the right ROM for your phone?
of course...
I don't know if I'll be able to help you, but can you please list the exact model of your phone just in case? You can see the different variants here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S#Variants
It is just GT-I9000. Now I managed to flash CM7.2 but if I want install CM9 or CM10 im getting bootloop and can't enter recovery mode ;o
Sorry, I can't really give you an answer with that information. If you are following the steps in each ROMs thread, you should have no problems patching as far as I know (someone more knowledgeable than me may say otherwise).
Maybe posting the exact steps you are following would help me or others to find out what the issue is.
I'm following right steps. It's not my first phone. I know how it should be but it isn't. Here are my steps:
Flash stock ROM w/ODIN v1.85 - OK
Flash CF-Root w/ODIN v1.85
Wipe Data/Wipe Cache
Phone now rooted OK
Boot to CWM Recovery
Install zip from sdcard
Select update on SDCard (cm-7.1.0 from CM site)
Flash completes in just a few seconds
Phone reboots automatically
Now stuck in boot loop
Remove battery
Go to CWM again and reflash CM7.1 zip
Now i have CM7
Reboot to recovery, facotry reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik
Flash CM9/CM10, finishes in few sec, reboots, then black screen, can't go to recovery mode ;(((
Flashing stock with odin again...and every time is the same, sometimes when I choose CM10 i see info: "Incompatible Partition Layout" so it may be the reason (something with partition, idk)
My phone has never rebooted like that, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I do know I use ODIN v3.07. I also have CWM 6.0.2.7
Best of luck finding a solution, sorry I could no be of more help.
I think CWM6 would help but I can't find this version for cm7
IGNORE ALL LINKS BELOW, they are for the wrong phone
I don't think it matters what CM you have on your phone, you should be able to upgrade CWM from recovery: Maybe not in i9000...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843825
Doesn't work in i9000 as far as I can tell: You can also try installing TWRP, which I like better than CWM and have in a different device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694617
Finally, and don't take me on this because is just a guess, maybe your bootloader is not working properly? I don't really remember how to do this myself:
You are showing me links to CMW and TWRP for i9001, I have i9000...
You are right, please ignore those links... I do know I patched CWM 6.0.2.7 through ODIN on my phone, so maybe that's the only way. In any case, I'll let you look for the actual links.
