Internet Connection is Enabled(problem) - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have an xperia z1 C9603 on android 4.4, recently something happened, I keep getting a message(the time between messages varying from 5 second to approx. 2 mins) in the lower region of the screen saying "Internet Connection is Enabled", I'm constantly connected through wifi at home and via data services otherwise, I'm curious what started to trigger this and feel concerned that it maybe some sort of malware or spyware working in the background which is causing this, also it seems switching off wifi seems to decrease the frequency of the messages. I have not made any change to network settings, my phone is on the stock rom and is not rooted as well. I have scanned it using dr. web anti-virus and kaspersky(which is currently installed) and have not found anything yet.
Any help on this would be highly appreciated.
Thanks! :good:

Can you please explain what you meant by phone is bugged? Did you mean to say a glitch or bugging in the sense of spying?

[Q] Sony Xperia T reboots if on WiFi

Hi,
I have just received my Xperia T from Orange today. The problem I'm having is that the phone will reboot if previously it entered standby with wifi enabled.
I've tried enabling/disabling "Keep WiFi on during sleep" option. The result is the same.
It works fine with Orange data-traffic enabled.
My T is running on 4.0.4 with build 7.0.A.3.223 build number and I can't update automatically.
Im thinking of rooting and switching to custom ROM or manually flashing the official Sony JB - in either case i'm loosing my warranty.
I just want to know first if this is a known issue and it's fixable with a new ROM, and my device isn't broken.
Any help is really appreciated, as I'm so dissapointed by Sony only after 10 minutes of using the T.
Thanks.

No, that isn't a known issue, and it never happened to me when I had that version.
Try upgrading to the newest stock rom an if it keeps rebooting take it back to the shop because it is faulty. As Hackberrybold said, if you flash the original Sony rom, warranty is not voided.

At least the first thread was started by someone with an Orange Xperia too, like yourself; (the second one doesn't specify).
I wonder if this bug is caused by whatever customization Orange applies to its devices...
Weird T-Mobile didn't get 223 version, nothing past 195.
But doesn't have this issue, if you go for a replacement, see if ee will give you a T-Mobile allocated one...

Unfortunately there is no T-mobile in Romania.
In the meantime I'm taking the legit way, just installed Sony PCC and it seems it has a firmware update for me. I will try this and hopefully I'll be a happier T owner.
Things like this make me miss my former HTCs.
All's well that ends well, my T just runs 4.1.2 // 9.1.A.0.489 and it seems I'm able to exit standby normally with WiFi enabled.
Thank you guys for the prompt answers.
Sony newbie OUT.

Hello! It also happens to my Xperia T. I don't think is the Orange customization, because I have the original ROM from Telcel (Mexico), (7.0.A.1.303), but it only happens with one WiFi Network, the one from my school. In other WiFi's it has no problems at all... at least not yet. When connected to that specifically Wi Fi it reboots ONLY if I press the Standby/power button or goes to sleep by inactivity. I've used it for about 15 minutes (Web browsing, Whatsapp, downloading docs, etc.) without pressing the standby button and it doesn't reboot at all until I press that button, or goes to standby after no use (Mine is set up to 1 minute).
I've tried turning on/off de Mobile Data, and it doesn't affect it. I'm actually going to flash JB today, so next monday I'll try again that conflictive WiFi on JB (Stock official ROM).
If anyone can tell me how to get more info on that WiFi (To see if it has something that can trigger the bug, or anything in common with another conflictive WiFi's) I'll do that on monday.
Tnx

[Q] Wifi slowing down to a crawl?

Does anyone else have issues where their wifi will gradually slow down as the day goes on, eventually to a point where it takes 5 minutes to download a 500kb app?
I've ruled out router issues (every router I try this with, work, home, McDonalds etc!) gives the same issue. So it must be either a phone hardware issue, or a phone software / firmware issue.
Can anyone suggest a tool perhaps to help with debugging this?
I'm on 4.1.2 LQ4 with LightJB1.2 and CoCore E 6.0. I had the same issue on stock JB and had hoped that rooting / custom firmware etc would present the answer.
Clearly it could be an app, but I'm not using anything that other people out there aren't, so I'd expect the same issues to be experienced by others if I was having app specific issues (e.g. facebook, twitter, Spotify, dropbox, Chrome, youtube etc).
Thanks in advance for any help!

Yes, I've tried that (or something similar) in the past with no joy - I don't think that it is slowing down because one app is consuming a large amount of data, it feels more like a sort of "memory leak" on the wifi front (don't know if that's possible!).
I can see it clearly in things like speedtest, which most of the time will show 8-10Mbps download speeds over wifi, and then will eventually crawl down to 200kbps type speeds.
Switching the phone to airplane mode and back again does seem to reset the problem, so it is something I can work around - but I'd like to know what the issue really is as it is starting to annoy me!
Cheers!

Losing mobile signal frequently

I have an issue where I lose mobile signal every few minutes. If I use Llama and check the "recent" tab I can see Cell: -1:-1:-1 every 10 mins or so and if I'm using the phone the signal will go to nothing, then within a few seconds go back up. Has anybody else seen this issue? I've done a factory reset and it didn't help. I'm waiting to hear back from Sony support, but they're been pretty useless for me in the past.

I encountered the same problem on my xperia l.
You could try taking the battery out the phone when it is switched on "hard reset" ,then take out the sim card and reboot, then switch off, put sim card back in and reboot, it may take a couple of minutes, it's worked for some, Me included
Another thing You could try is putting Your phone into GSM mode from settings but this means You need to keep changing modes when data roaming

Whilst we appreciate the sentiment please take a look at the forum your posting your advice in. The Xperia Z1 does not have a removable battery and the term 'switched on ''hard reset'' ' makes no sense unless you mean using the red button in place of a battery pull.
Not trying to be rude but its frustrating when your device drops signal and the best advice you get is regarding completely different hardware.
To Chrisduffer: Have you rooted your device/unlocked the bootloader or flashed another ROM? If so perhaps consider an alternative Kernel or a software update via the flashtool if its still using the stock kernel?
same problem. No root / no flash. Stock 4.3. Same issue even before update to 4.3.
Any idea what to do? My signal drops down every day like 5-6 times for about 20-30 seconds with no reason. I'm also not able to connect to 3G (at least phone is not showing 3g sign next to the signal strenght).
Hmm...this is interesting because actually I saw this up and down on mine too but I was able to call and receive calls anyway...so I newer bother if is an issue or not...but I losing the internet connection frequently so what's wrong?
Instresting...mine too...stock 4.2.2 rooted, Lb....but when my signal totally drops I am able to call or text!

Sounds almost like the modem driver is crashing and then restarting. Factory default is what I would try first, unless this is happening in places where you have weak signal or are in an enviroment which would cause weak signal (inside, thick walls, metal, etc.).

Hypothetically.
Had a few issues myself with the same stuff. Try another radio via flash tool. Just deselect everything else and just flash baseband, no wipe. Be careful when flashing stuff.

Yes, alternative radio driver should help, if it's not HW issue.
I will try to give the phone on a warranty check ... hopefully they will be able to tell me what's wrong ..
if not, I'll go your way = flashing different ROM with different radio.

You think you have signal issues?
Almost forgot, I had a phone come in once and it had the same issue, ended up only recognising the sim card every now and again, you could try another sim, or even send it back for repair which is what happened with the phone that was brought to me.

Any idea?
Should return the phone?
I sent the phone to the warranty, I have also the results of the tests and they are all passed... So I really don't know how to do... If I find a nexus 5 i'll try to change this xperia for that, I can't stay whiteout signal when my old iPhone 4s receive it very well

Xperia T (lt30p) Wifi problem

Hello. I have a certain problem which I would like to discuss here and ask for advice. I would really like if you could read everything and not just start with the "standard wifi fix" answers like "restart the phone" and such.
1. My problem: The problem that I face is that when I try to connect to a wifi network one out of the two following things happen:
-It connects and instantly disconnects
-It connects and after some time losses connection and says that it's out of range. This can happen after 5 seconds or 15 minutes/it's totally random.
I think that the first thing is connected to the second so let's just discuss the second.
2. Where and when: It happens everywhere and always. It happens at my home, at my school, even in Greece where I spend my vacations (just giving you some examples.).
3. Things I tried to fix my problem myself: I googled my problem for over 1 month now and found a lot of those "standard wifi fixes" I mentioned before. I checked all the settings on my phone for example avoid bad connections, disable wifi during sleep, battery saving etc. I did a factory reset 3 times, I even screwed with my router (even though it can't be my routers fault as it happens everywhere as stated and I am fairly educated in networking and setting up a router). And yes, I did update my phone to the latest version of android available which is 4.1 for me.
4. Contacting my operator: I contacted my operator and gave them a brief overview of my problem. So I went to the store and they sent it to the repair center/company that fixes Sony phones in my country (note: my phone is still under guarantee). After 2 weeks I got my phone back but they wrote that they didn't find the problem and just did a factory reset. After 1 day of usage, with the of course not repaired phone, I sent an very detailed email to the repair center explaining my problem and they told me to send it back again which I did. After a couple of days passed the repair center called me and the guy who was supposed to fix my phone told me that he did a factory reset yet again and that he isn't finding any problems with browsing the net with the phone.
5. Some important information: The phone had never been exposed to any water/fall damage in any kind of form, it was neither rooted/flashed or anything like that and there were no applications that could have messed up any files or settings (for example wifi fix apps and such). I am running the latest available firmware (checked with xperia update checker, sus and PC companion) which is 9.1.A.1.141 R1.
6. Some probably not so important information: A friend of mine which I meet quite often has the same phone but has an different operator is running 4.3 and has no problems with the phone what so ever. Also when I went to the center of my operator the guy that helped me tried to connect to the router he was literary 2 m away from and it instantly disconnected him saying "not in range".
7. Don't say those things as I already tried them without success:
-everything connected to wifi/network/battery saving settings on the phone (avoid bad connections, auto IP, Static/DHCP etc.)
-my router settings (channels, security etc.) - every other device works perfectly fine
-SIM card - calling, mobile data and such works fine
-apps - never had "wifi fix", battery saving or any kind of form of apps on the phone that would "improve" it's performance
So I am really desperate right now and would really appreciate if someone could help me.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that after some time after a couple of minutes it shows the network as being available again (but doesn't reconnect) or waits until I restart the phone before it let's me connect to it again.

Did you update OTA?
If I were you I'd flash a different ROM (different FTF) maybe a different version or a different region, and maybe even backup TA partition, unlock, root, and flash a different Stock ROM and/or a custom ROM (CM, Carbon, etc), and see if the problem persists.
If there still is a problem then it definitely is a phone (hardware) problem, especially considering other devices work on the same network you're attempting to connect to.

I updated using PC companion as soon as I got it.
I would love to try flashing it and using either the latest official unbranded rom for my phone or CM/omnirom but I still have one year of warranty left which I don't really want to void. But to be honest if I can't get to fix the phone in the next month or two I'll probably buy a Nexus 5 and flash the hell out of my xperia T.

When flashing a unbranded ftf with Flashtool you dont lose warranty, as far as I know.
If nothing helps with your issue, you could send the phone to Sony two more times and ask for a refund, should the problem persist. :good:

So if I understood you right flashing does not void my warranty because there is no need to root the phone which means as well that there is not need to unlock the bootloader? Side question, is this "global" or can my operator deny warranty because of an unbranded rom on the phone?

Flashing with Flashtool (the one here on xda, not Sony) is like updating via pc companion.
Just keep an ftf of your original operator firmware on your computer, should you need to revert for warranty purposes.
Flashtool leaves no traces on the device.

I've backed up my TA partition, unlocked it, rooted it, changed ROMs, gone back to stock, relocked bootloader, and it's never left any trace of me having altered it, so if you do things properly, I don't see how you would lose the warranty. What they don't know can't hurt them

I'll be sure to try it as soon as I get my phone back from the repair center. If it doesn't fix my problem I'll just buy a Nexus 5 which should pretty much fix all my problems regarding updates too.
Thank you for the advice everyone.
I had the same problem on my Xperia V with firmware 9.1. Now that I switched to 9.2 the problem is even worse!
Sometimes I loose my connection and in the Wi-Fi list I only see 1 or 2 networks, where I normally see at least 10 networks. Then I reboot and everything is back to normal...
Could be a firmware problem. I don't know if it's possible to reload the Wi-Fi firmware without rebooting?
I've just found that when it starts to bug, I only see networks in the 5GHz band. Networks in the 2.4G band are not visible.

How to turn off going to 4G when low wifi connection? Phone keeps rebooting..

Got the phone few days ago, and its great. BUT, for some reason when the phone switches to 4G because of low wifi connection in my bedroom the phone will constantly reboot itself, real annoying problem obviously.
Ive been looking for a solution but havent found it..

I'd suggest contacting Oneplus support. This doesn't sound usual.
Been having the same problem, exactly as you described it.
I was wondering if my ROM had anything to do with it, are you running a custom ROM?
Were you able to fix the issue somehow?

I'm running resurrection remix nougat rom, and am still having the issue.
Current thought was to use something like Tasker to disable 4g when connection on wifi, and reenable when losing wifi signal.

Hmm... try finding something that's involving "Smart Network Switching" and uncheck it if possible. I'm sorry if i didn't help but i don't really know about Oneplus's ROMs.
