Feedly (embedded videos force closing)
I've searched around but I haven't found what could be causing this problem? Video playback works fine in stock rom but none of the Cyanogenmod based ones aren't working for me.
How to reproduce
Start feedly, find a rss post that has a video embedded > try to play the video.
Results
Video sometimes will show up, usually it only show's a black box but the audio can be heard. ( change the phone orientation and video either shows up or the rom boots to startup logo.)
I haven't been that active lately, could this be gpu driver related? If someone could shed some light into this I'd be thankful.
Issue with alarm setting
Hey guys.
Loving the rom and have had no real issues and a normal everyday user but the last 3 nightlies for the Galaxy S3 have had this issue for me when trying to set and turn off the alarm.
When you go to the alarm screen and press to turn on the alarm, there is no response for a second or two, then the on/off button will start flicking from side to side (4-6 times a second) turning the alarm on and off again in quick succession. On the status bar on the top of the screen you can see the alarm set icon flashing on and off rapidly as well. If you hit the back button at the right time, the alarm will stay on.
This morning I dirty flashed the latest release (16/10) and found the problem to be still there. Also this morning i went to turn the alarms off (after testing the button) and it would not turn off. I was sitting there for like 10 mins trying to make it turn off. Then i had the idea of deleting the alarm (with the trash icon on the alarm setting) which after a lot of tries finally deleted the alarm. My elation was short lived when i noticed in the status bar it was saying i still had an alarm set for tomorrow. Looking in the alarm section, there is not even any alarms in there. I have rebooted the phone, set an alarm and all with no luck getting rid of this alarm that is "set" but not showing.
Anyone else having similar issues?

I have the same issue with videos in web pages, you can start the video and it will play but only the sound and leave the box black. even putting in full screen leaves the screen black. If you change the orientation you get the picture for a fraction of a second before it goes black again.

Hi, I've noticed no-one has offered an answer, unfortunately. That usually means no-one has a clue yet as to what could cause your particular problem(s). That goes for me too.
It happens. Apparently you have come across an unusual outcome of flashing. Bad flashes and such do occur, when there is little point in fully analyzing what has gone wrong. (Unless you have the time.)
So perhaps the most practical idea would be to really start again from scratch: first backup what needs backing up, make sure you get a good recovery installed like TWRP or Philz Recovery, then do a factory reset, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik, and then flash Carbon Rom.
BTW, my own recent experience has only been really fine with versions of August 7 and October 12, so those I can personally endorse. Furthermore, I prefer dirty flashing on top of versions that function pretty well already. Very often it goes well. Only sometimes I need my (nandroid and other) backups, before trying again
Good luck.

I had the same problem and I managed to repair it by copying /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf from the last version where WIFI credidentials were working for me and overwritting it in the last version. For me that help.

When can we expect carbonrom lollipop? Thank you
Lollipop isn't guaranteed on s3 so could be a while
I would like to give CarbonRom a try on my i9305, however, I'm curious regarding the number of bugs to expect.
Unfortunately, I can't find a list with "what works/what doesn't work", but from reading the thread I already learned that in one of the nightlies, sending a text causes the network connection to drop. This is something I'd like to avoid.
Would anyone be so kind to share their experiences, and tell me which nightly has the least amount of bugs (and what bugs)?
Kind regards,
Borovskaya

I have moved away from WinMob for the same reasons as many others and now find myself searching for similar Apps for Android (T-Mobile UK G2) now....
One such app I used was the 'In Call Tweak' app which woke the phone screen up when you removed it from your ear during a call.... very useful.
Has/does anyone have information as to this type of app existing for Android or know that it's being worked on?
Many thanks and I apologise in advance if I have been a numpty and not searched hard enough.
I am not going to be helpful here. There was an app, I removed it for some reason and now I cant remember what the app was called!
I do remember that it stopped the screen going off fully and it was a bit oversensitive but otherwise ok.
Thanks for the reply..... At least I know that one existed.
Can you remember if you found it in the Market? that could narrow down the search.
Ta,
I believe that "Shake Awake" is what you're after...

You could not be more right! Thank you very much for reminding me...
Thanks guys.... I'll give it a whirl.
Having done some testing.....
The 'Shake Awake' app doesn't seem to work as well as the windows version which uses the light sensor as a trigger...
So if any one else knows of another appI could test I would be grateful.
by coincidence, i had need of it today, and it didn't seem to work at all. worked fine when I tested it using its own calibration tester thing.
I need to do some more real-call testing before I can tell if it's me, or it's broken.
You should try these settings for the HTC Hero:
select sensitivity: Like it ows you money..
enable cheek guard screen : OFF
show status : ON
outgoing calls : ON
incoming calls : OFF or ON as you like it (save would be OFF)
Don't forget to only leave this app with the back(arrow)button !
have fun!
Rubbish
This app suck major a$$ and rarely works properly.....

I'd failed to note that it only works for outgoing calls, by default, and it's a security problem if you enable it for incoming calls. I suspect that when I wanted to use it, it was an incoming call.
Can anyone explain what the cheek guard option is for? I can't find it explained anywhere...
Hi cdmackay,
I saw some reference to it in the help file but it wasn't specific but I think that it might stop your cheek from accidentially activating the screen.....
I still find it unreliable... about an 80% hit rate...
I'm not a programmer (in the true sense) but I can't see why it can't be made to work like the Win Mob version which senses the attitude of the phone together with what the light sensor is reading to check if the phone is by your ear or you are looking at it to enter data of some kind..
I might email the developer to see if this is possible.
Somebody else has also raise the same question...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=553108
they have mentioned an app called keepscreen which can keep the screen alive but this can also be done by PowerManager (for calls).
thanks much
Hi, I'm only posting here since I can't search and reply to temasek's thread due to me being a noob haha Anyway, thanks to Temasek for his work and I really like it a lot, but I have 2 major issues that I've experienced so far.
1) I am unable to delete my 10k+ messages in my phone. Everytime I try, the application hangs and I have to force close it, be it stock or go sms.
2) Computers are unable to read my phone as a USB mass storage. Since it is a mass storage, I do need need to install any drivers right? (ie. flash drives)
Hello!
1. ) No idea why you can't delete your SMS - sorry - I got like 10+ SMS (meaning something between 10-20) in my folders. I usually use Email or WhatsAPP since SMS is expensive with my mobile plan...
2.) What OS are you using on the PC side? If it is some WIndows - Did you install the newest drivers for the phone? - they should be available on XDA or from LG directly.
10K plus is an enormous amount of messages. If you want to delete them, it will take time and the phone is going to stop responding for a while.
Try to delete /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db*
I have no idea if that screws things up, so do a nandroid backup first
Erm ok maybe I have to clarify further. The 2 above problems only surfaced when I switched over to CM7. When I was on stock firmware, I had absolutely no problem with the above 2.
I know it takes time to delete but when I pressed 'delete', the app freezes and force closes. Not even 1 had been deleted! (again I tried with stock and had absolutely no problem, it started right away showing me the status of the process).
2) You need to install the drivers in order to access the SD card(s).

alarm notification issues
Hi I'm writing here because I have less than 10 post + it is a problem I'm facing with the last temasek's KANG #80.
When I call someone or when someone calls me, for each active clock alarm appears a notification that informs me : "Alarm silenced after xxx minutes". xxx is the time between the last alarm activation and the call that "fired" the notification.
It is not a serious problem but it's quite annoying.
Before #80 flash I've never faced this problem.
Any thought ?

Wasn't that a pdroid bug? Should've been fixed #84 onwards.
Yeah, thanks guys, it was fixed in the latest build.
because I didn't find any solution and cause I did thought that had to do with pdroid I flashed the non-pdroid version and everythings works ok...

Yeah that's a bug in the leaked version of ICS and roms based on that. You can go ahead to play store (android market) and install this app - volume ace - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xLDEsIml0LmJyYWluY3Jhc2gudm9sdW1lYWNlZnJlZSJd
And in its profile just put the phone in ringing and vibration mode. Now the phone will ring and vibrate simultaneously!!
Hit thanks if it helped!
It didn't help,
the program only let's you control the audio power,
the only thing about vibration the program has is the option to put the phone on silent&vibration mode.
thanks anyway..
It works. Check the attached screenshot. Enable the options highlighted and just restart the phone and restart the volume ace and see if the options you selected are still showing as selected (doesn't get revert to default). Now whenever a call comes the phone will ring and vibrate
It helped !
where do I hit thanks? I cant find it..
Oh..
It worked.. You win 1 thanks and 4 internets!!!
Glad it worked for you both !!
Enjoy your Note
Cheers!!
Still no vibration
Hi,
your solution did not work for me. Can anyone help me, I miss about half of my calls because of this..

Thanks
have you tried a different kernel?

Yes, I have, I was on Abyss kernel before switching to Hydracore. I did not work back then either.
I got results when doing:
echo 1000 > /sys/.../vibrator/enable
Otherwise, nothing.
Can anyone upload the symlinker function, ortell me where to get it ? If I can find out what is being called py apps when trying to vibrate, I may symlink it to beforementioned /sys/.../vibrator/enable.
Regards from Switzerland
vibration dont work
I just install this ROM : Ultimate_N7000_LSC_JB_4.1.2_v5.1 , and vibration dont work at all.
Any suggestion ????
Hello Guys,
a Friend bought a used i9000 on ebay for 130€ from a business man, which got a ne phone from his company and sold hin mobile on ebay and he asked me for a litte work around of his "new" phone.
Optically is the phone perfect BUT if I take a call on Android 2.3.6 display stays black (with backlight) and I can make the call. But I can't do anything more, hang up etc. If the opponent hangs up, I hear the hang up sound but display stays black and thephone wount do anything. So it's needet to pull battery, put it back and restart the phone. On doing a call, the phone has similar problems, it freezes.
After a couple of re-flashes with odin nothing changed.
So I tryed to switch to actual android OS. I flashed SlimBean 2.7. Every thing workes well. but even call-issues. If i receive a call, the phone woun't do anythin and it keeps ringing and "holds" the call for exactly 32 seconds. Now I can talk with the caller. But most callers don't wait 32 seconds to call to me If I do a call in JB I can talk from the first second on, but display freezes and I can't hang up. Thats the state for around 28 seconds and then phone will response normally and I can hang on and do everything I whant.
Even in Slim I tryed reflash a fiew times with no cahnge.
Has anyone an idea?
I think thats a hardware related problem. But in fact its possible to do a call, but only with that issues/delays. So I need a solution, that JB (SlimBean 2.7) don't "hold" the call/freezes for 32 seconds. I think because its every time 32 seconds, thats a fix value in JB. so I need something to cahnge the value from 32 secs to may be 0 oder maximum 5. But thats only guessed by me so I need help of a PRO here to solve that nerving issue.
I also tryed to install other dialers, but thats not a good solution, because the use for calling the stock rom dialer (phone.apk), damn
Please help me guys (sorry for my bad english )
UPDATE: I did read a litte in web and found, that the light sensor could cause issues in calling (start and end). So I downloaded a app whitch will show me he values of the light sensor. Ands its true, the sensor will show me whole time same values. I changed the sensor od the device of my friend and mine but that does not solve the problem. same issue.
In second Post I'll load a some Pictures of both devices up. My device shows around 30 lux and the one of my friend around 5.
UPDATE 2: After some more reading in web I found more guys with same call problem but no solution. May be it could help to disable GP2A Driver oder better only to overwrite the lightsensor value with a fix one.
UPDATE 3: OK I tested with 3 apps and the proximity sensor of the phone is broken ...now i need a solution to disable it or set a fix value in android so that the sensor is unused.
Any ideas?
UPDATE 4: I downloaded the "Hardware Disable" app from Play store and disabled GP2A.
It works for now, I just have to switch off the screen manually by pushing power button at a call and turn it on by pushing power again. But thats no problem for me anf my friend and much better as the call related freezes.
But I need at every startup to confirm to disable the sensor. So I'm looking for a permanent solution for this. Also because the device feels a little bit laggy now.

SOLUTION
So Guys I found a good working solution fpr proximity sensor delay, 32 second freeze by taking a call.
I wrote my Solution in SlimBean thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32809014&postcount=4406
Schould work on any ROM (GB, ICS and JB) because they all use the same Hardware .so (sensors.aries.so in this case)
Hi,
I have an HTC One (m7) international version, and after 4.4 kitkat update, it slowly lost it's vibration and heptic feedback function until it completely stopped this weekend, even with power save mode turned off, and all the configurations properly set.
I've tried returning to my latest 4.3 jellybean nandroid backup from Dec-23, but the problem still ocurred.
After that, I've restored the 4.4 kitkat nandroid backup I've made this morning, and installed the "Vibrate Plus" app from the play store. After playing with it for a few minutes without any success, I've realized that the vibration function only works, with the phone screen facing down. As soon as I lift the phone from the table or turn it up in my hand, it stops vibrating.
If, instead of the "Pattern Vibration" function, I choose the "Simple Vibration", which keeps the phone vibrating constantly, I have a few seconds of vibration with the screen facing up, after lifting the phone from the table, until it stops working again.
---
I've found this single thread (URL = www (dot) htconeforum (dot) com /forum/htc-one-help/2341-vibrate-function-has-stopped-new-htc-one-m7.html) (can't post the URL here) where a guy has the same problem I have and had his phone replaced by HTC; but since Brazil does not have official HTC assistance, I probably am going to have it fixed myself, just as I did with my former HTC One X and it's GPS issue.
The problem is, I can't seem to find any other report from this same problem, other than this thread, and I also am having a hard time finding detailed instructions on how to open this phone for servicing, so, any help regarding any of these is really welcome.
Thank you very much, in advance.

Coming to the issue, did you the Trickster mod? You could set the vibration intensity there.. Install from Playstore.

Hi,
I've downloaded the trickster mod, and set up the vibration intensity to 3100 (max).
With this new setting, the problem seems to be fading away... yesterday, the vibration function failed to work only twice, and today, it has worked fine the entire day.
I cannot think of a reasonable explanation for this, I really tought it was a hardware problem, but it seems to be working a lot better now.
Thank you very much!!!

I guess it's still better to check with service center once, you never know it could be a hardware problem and you might get a replacement for this

After the vibration issue was solved, the earpiece became mute at random times during calls so I gave up from KitKat... too much trouble, not so much attractive new features.
I'm back with ARHD 31.0, Jellybean 4.3... it's perfect.
This version works fine for me.
After all the problems I've had, I think I'll never try to update my phone again, unless there's some sort of "killer feature" in the new version.
Good luck!
