Hello,
When this android 5.0, will be to our devices?
e.g. CM12, unofficial ports or other rom
Android Kitkat 4.4 was released last year on 31st October 2013, laufersteppenwolf's CM11 thread was started in december 2013. That's less than 2 months.
There might be issues we don't know yet, it takes a while. The Android 5.0 source code is not even fully released yet. I'm sure it will come to our device, be patient
yes, but this is an exception because it was released much earlier version for developers

Yes, however. They did not release the full source code git and it was a dev image for the Nexus 5, it would take a lot of work just to port the dev image. It could be done but a lot of work.
In 2 days the official SDK is available
whats nwes about lolipop for our devices?

Can't agree more!
As stated here http://www.xda-developers.com/android/android-lollipop-next-batch/
a few devices which are not as powerful as the LG OPTIMUS 4X HD (Moto G, Xperia L, LG L9) have received an android 5.0 lollipop build, so nothing is impossible
As far as i know, LG L9 which also received a build has similar software with our phone so devs can help eachother with small tweaks to make it happen

Im running CM 11 nightly "11-20141113-NIGHTLY-p880" so the nightly built on Nov. 13th. And I do not think that I have ever used a smoother build. I have had no problems with this build. So IMO, we already do have stable CM11.
LG L9 have nothong in common with our device (processor,GPU,camera,etc..) Also it 99% depends on developers.

Hey
Samsung finally gave in. They released the source code for SM-G900H.
Finally ! So we can now expect a lot of support and development from indie devs I hope
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=g900h
although, its kind of an older version G900HXXU1ANG3 and not ANJ1 or J2. Could that be an issue? Hope not
you just saved my g900h... I was going to sell it and buy HTC ONE or LG G2 just because of no rom and...
thankssssss
And One question... can we get custom lolipop too or it needs another source code...
By The Way custom kitkat is awsome too...
This is great news.
Just recently got an S5, and didnt know there was a Snapdragon and Exynos varient.
Unfortunately i got the Exynos varient so modding is super limited.
Hope this will help developers make some custom ROMS.
Im still waiting for lollipop, or a rom without the ugly Touchwiz would be nice.
Great news?

Kernel sources have been available for an eternity, I had them mirrored on my Github for 9 months... https://github.com/AndreiLux/ref-3.10/commits/universal5422
And Samsung usually puts up updated sources upon an OSS request in a few days.

I dont understand. This was the exact reason many devs stated for not making many roms for 900H.
Could it be that the kernal code ur talking about was an older one? Ur github says XXU1ANCI, the latest one is ANG3 or sth ? That the reason?

It doesn't seem like it. Truly pure android roms are only available for Google Nexus devices.
The next best thing is probably CyanogenMod roms but I don't believe there is a stable release of CM rom for the Tab S2 yet.

Yup, I'm aware of these thanks. I have an 8" and will be monitoring the 8" thread. It's still in "beta". I'd like to see a stable release, then I'll probably flash it. My Tab S2 is going to be my primary tablet so I have to have a stable daily driver. Once the kinks are all fixed, I'll be happy to switch over to CM12.1.

You and I know both these aren't official cm builds. But the rom is stable, as in useful for daily use, the performance is good, just aspect some bugs. I suspect you mean by not stable there ain't no official build.
BTW, do you know what nightlies builds are?

Yes, I understand what the ideal of nightlies is. It's the release of all combined fixes for the day. However, I've been with xda for long enough to know what nightlies really are. They often time cause as much trouble as they fix. So I stick to stable releases. I have past the time when I would flash rom on a daily or weekly basis.
For example, on my OnePlus One, there is an official 'Bacon' CM rom section.
http://get.cm/?device=bacon&type=
There are Snapshots, Nightlies, and Experimentals.
The snapshots are what I would consider stable releases. Some may refer to these as milestones.
http://get.cm/?device=bacon&type=snapshot
That's kind of what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a milestone, stable release.
I don't mind that the port for the Tab S2 is unofficial. But I do want to wait until the person whose working on this port releases a version that's not in beta anymore. I assume there are good reasons as to why he still has his project in beta status. Specifically, I notice that "microphone" is still listed as something that's not working. The use of the microphone is important to me as I often use voice Google Now for queries. So I'd like to wait until all these bugs are fixed before I root my Tab S2 and install CM.
If the beta works for you, great, more power to you. :good:
What would it take for a developer to be able to release a Lineage/CM type ROM for this phone? Do you guys think it is a possibility in the near future or will this never happen?

I've experienced that with the Mi5, Cyanogenmod builds came very quickly after Xiaomi released the kernel sources. I'm also waiting for them, this device would be so much better with Lineage OS, or anything other than a MIUI rom, although the EPIC rom is getting fairly close
You can follow the official github for xiaomi devices here: https://github.com/MiCode/Xiaomi_Kernel_OpenSource
Mi5 owners also did a petition though, asking Xiaomi to release the kernel sources for the mi5, maybe we should do the same for the MIX ?

Right but its not a true build. It's using the sources that were released for the Mi5s.
As many of you heard, android 8 has now been officially released. I will be working to get an AOSP version working on the 7" LTE tablet, I have heard that there may be significant HAL changes so it may take some time. I have just released the august update for the SM-T285, I've been also working to get a stable repo out for this device in the last couple of weeks. Anyway wish me luck.
Update 08/24/2017 - I was able to download the 8.0.0_r4 aosp sources and got it to compile the modified device tree. There seems to be significant changes with some HAL libraries, vendor specific libs are now moved to its own place in the system image. Will now proceed to actual testing and porting.

Great! Is there ANY chance you wil make an extra effort to release this for the SM-T280 also?
AFAIK the only difderence is LTE versus WiFi only [emoji4] ?

I won't be directly developing for the T280 sadly. There may be subtle differences at the kernel level and some components (e.g. GPS, touchscreen) which prevents ROMs for the T285 from working with the T280. However my work with the T285 should greatly speedup development for the T280 once the first custom ROMs arrive.

I remember some people tried on my CM/Lineage/Omni based roms on their T280 and it failed to boot, though I can't tell the method they used to flash those ROMs so it is possible that their methods are incorrect. As for stock ROMs this is new information for me if that is the case. I am unable to verify these as I don't have a T280, though if there is a dev who would like to try if would be nice.

my oreo build isn't usable at the moment, wifi doesn't work and you can't turn the screen back on after turning it off. Trying to figure out if this is a LineageOS issue or a hardware issue takes too much time, I'm waiting for the first official builds of Lineage OS to start rolling out before I spend more time on this.
Bacoor,
I've just bought a Galaxy Tab A6 LTE (SM-T285) and haven't rooted or done anything to an android phone in over 5 years. Feeling Green as hell! I'm back to being a newbie. Any suggestions you can offer to me on a guide and which TWRP and Android I should install on my phone. I'll need some tutorial help as I feel uneasy. Last Time I did rooting and custom roms was way back on the HTC Hero and then the HP Touchpad to Cyanogenmod.
Well with Oreo comes project treble which does in fact mess with the HAL libraries a lot. Maybe that means there is hope the Galaxy Tab A Line will get "Treble-ized".
Good news if we are.

I am still on Android 5.1.x rooted, and probably only version for T285 which every feature is tested working.
Intended to upgrade to Android 6 or 7, but there isn't any stable firmware which is bug-free (ie. GPS and video recording).
Not optimistic on 8.0 being bug-free when the 6 and 7 not fixed after such a long wait (months).

Hi
I was just wondering after release of AOSP Sources , how long it wipp take for stable build of android o for oneplus 3T
after the release of android z
It may be a few months, may be next year. Nobody knows at this point. Official OOS 8.0 Release will be in a few months so a custom rom release could also be around that time

Why do we need oos to push out 8.0 for us to get it with custom ROMs? Thought custom ROMs can be somewhat 'ported' over from some devices or built from the open sources? I was also wondering the same as op, but didn't expect it to take that long. Hopefully it will be sooner than later

I wasn't implying we need to wait for OOS. I was merely stating if OOS is gonna take a few months, Custom Devs might as well. But i do hope I'm wrong. I think either RR or PA would be the first to take it up.
When Android M and N were was released, we started getting custom roms within 1~2 months on OP2. Should be fast than this on OP3T.

RR is based on LineageOS, so that's not gonna happen unless the source updates first.
PA has limited resources meaning it could take a while for them too.
I'm guessing it's gonna be a random dude with an AOSP port with the first alpha in about 3 weeks. Just a guess, so don't count on it.
