Anybody have a modified EMAIL apk that bypasses Exchange security permissions? This needs to work on the Note4.
Is there an easy way to modify the stock APK to do this?

What do you mean by "bypasses Exchange security permissions"?
If you mean that it doesn't apply ActiveSync settings that are forced by the ActiveSync profile, that is not done via the e-mail client. If you mean "allow me to access a mailbox that I am not allowed to access by permissions on the mailbox", that won't work as those are server-side Active Directory settings, not e-mail client settings.
Its definitely the security password.. and exchange polices wise
I use Enhanced Email to bypass the exchange security.

Those are aosp 4.4.2 email client, ypu need both, and also need to delete the stock email and exchange from system/app.
I believe I signed them so they should work by simply installing.
Make sure u backup the stock files first.

I upgraded to the leaked OS 2.2 Froyo and now I am getting the below issue when I reply to emails. Doesn't happen to EVERY email but several to cause me issues at work.
I am using Exchange only.
I reply to an email and it is recieved but all text I typed is missing and it actually looks as if I forwarded the email back to the sender.
I saw on another forum some other were experiencing this issue but none had a clue how to resolve it.
Anyone know how to fix this? Others seeing this?
Any help would be appreciated!!
???
Is no one else having this issue? Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve it? Do I need to wipe the deivce?
I've had this issue as well when using my exchange.

I had the same issue with email after cognition2.2BETA5.5. It seems that designgears had installed the AOSP email app but removed it in later versions due to too many complaints. I find that the AOSP app is much better then then TW Email apk. I performed the steps below to install the AOSP Email.apk. Replies work everytime without issue.
1.) Get the Email AOSP app from a different rom or make a request and I will happily provide a link to download the apk.
2.) Connect your phone to the computer and move the Email.apk to the root of your sdcard.
3.) Backup your current Email.apk with Titanium or manually copy it to another location on your phone.
NOTE: You may need to backup your phone settings so you can restore your launcher after clearing cache in the final step to avoid having to replace all of your home screen icons.
4.) Using Root Explorer or Astro, copy the Email.apk copied to your sdcard into the folder /system/app/ to replace the current app.
5.) Return to the home screen. At this point you should no longer see an email icon on your dock.
6.) Go to Applications->Settings->Applications->Manage Applications
7.) Clear the cache on the TWLauncher Application.
8.) Return to the home screen and you should now see the email icon has returned to the dock.
9.) Restore TWLauncher settings with Titanium to restore home screen icons that were removed in the cache.
Please let me know if you need the email.apk from cognition2.2beta5.5
Aosp email.API link request
Is there a copy of the email.API that doesn't have the blank reply issue yet has all the features of cognition latest release?
I have attached a working Email apk to this post. Down load it and follow the steps in the post above to resolve the blank email reply issue. Let me know if you have any issues.
I followed the instructions, however, I did not have a backup of twlauncher, so now I don't have an email icon on my home bar
So put the icon back on your launch bar. It is configurable. (doing this from memory, so i may miss a step). Go to your list of apps -> menu -> edit and you can configure 3 of the 4 icons on the touchwiz launcer (you can't get rid of the apps shortcut).

Alright, hopefully you all are still willing to help somebody else out on this issue, as I am in the same boat as gibgib3. I have followed the steps above using the attached email.apk from f13nd0.
The issue I get is that launching email cause an immediate crash of the application, as well as attempting to add a new "Corporate" email account.
I am not an Android development power user myself, although I've used adb in the past sparingly. I really just am clinging to the leaked Froyo build from October, and just want working email (TouchDown is crazy slow and expensive) until Samsung finally pushes out an official Froyo build.
Any ideas here?
Flash a new ROM that has the email bugs fixed.

That is the "nuclear option" that I'd like to avoid. While I have everything backed up with titanium, I already am planning to flash back to stock when the official update comes out, so I'm looking to minimize the necessity to flash a ROM again.
I'm hoping that there is some "tried and true" way to swap out my email.apk with a working version, as the previous steps just result in a "Force Close" whenever I try and run it.
So the solution here, for anybody having this issue, is to remove the existing email.odex file from the /system/app directory, which was associated with the original Samsung email app.
All systems go here.
How do you remove the email.odex file? As it is in the system folder, the file permission is ready only and I cannot delete it. Is there a util in the market that you can download to change file permissions?
Root Explorer did the trick for me.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Does the phone needs to be rooted (my phone has the leaked froyo but do not think it is rooted) for the root explorer to be able to change the permission?
I download other free utils that has access to the file but cannot change the permission in order to delete it.
Yes, it does.

Rooting is the key to doing all "magic" stuff like this. What good is a wizard (user) without his magic wand (root access) to work on any magic (his captivate)?

Okay, I finally learn how to root the phone and was finally able to remove the existing email.odex file. Now I don't have the email icon anymore. I must assume you have replaced this email.odex file as well as the apk file??? I tried clearing the cache and everything on the twlauncher and it's a no go.
I just set up an exchange account on the default galaxy mail app. However, it would not let see my mail until I added a password. Now every time i wake the phone from sleep i have to put in a password. How do i get rid of this while still being able to access my mail.
Thanks
I'm not sure what you've exactly done but, why you don't deactivate or delete the exchange account and only use the normal account from the email app?
Or explain a bit more what's the prob except the password requestions...
whoever is running your exchange system has made a password mandatory.
You can't access email via activesync (exchange) without having that password.
hi rocketpaul,
you can use Insanity hacked email app..so you will not get password policy...
if you are will to use your custom ROM,move email.apk to system\app\ and flash. else with rooted account you can replace email application.

ive tried, it says apk not installed
Sorry my fold, I didn't read exactly
It's a system aplication which replace the original, so you've to replace it!
1) First download a file Manager (f.ex. Root Explorer)
2) Find the downloaded file under "internel sd"
3) Go back and Choose "System" and then "App"
4) Here you put it in and say yes for the confirm to replace
PS: If it doesn't allow to replace a file you've to change the system
-> at top off the app you can change from r/o to f/w
I rooted my droid 3 but for some reason my contacts app keeps force closing! Is there anyway to root the phone and restore it back to factory setting then try rooting it again? How would I restore back to factory default?
There is no ability to restore, reset or do-over with the Droid 3 until a .sbf is released (leaked).
did you delete anything after rooting your Droid 3?
yep...but i tried to play it relatively safe removing bloatware, but apparently I must have deleted something that was critical to contacts. How long do you think we will be waiting until an sbf is out?
Sounds like you deleted the yahoo stuff. Find the system.img file that was uploaded here weeks ago, pull out the two yahoo .apk and .odex files and push them back to /system/app/
That will fix your contacts.
There is no ETA or guess on the .sbf. It will require a leak from within Motorola.

Nope, those are it.....those have been causing Force Close on contacts for all that deleted or "froze" them. If you still have those then apparently there is another app that you did remove that ties in to Contacts.
You must have deleted Corporate Sync Authenticator, if I freeze that one I get your error as well
-> Edit: zip for mamual installation in second post, recovery flashable zip in third post.
For email purposes, I mainly use Gmail for private mails and Email for the Exchange connection I have to my employers Exchange server. I hate it how the Sony provided email client looks totally different to the Gmail client and I would like to replace the first. On AOSP/CM based firmwares, the email client looks more or less the same as Gmail, at least since Jelly Bean.
My experiements in replacing the Sony Email client with an AOSP/CM client failed so far, has anyone an AOSP/CM email app which works on stock FW? Thanks.
Vanilla Android ICS 4.0.4 Email.apk and Exchange.apk with disabled Exchange Security Policy Enforcement for manual replacement (no flashable zip yet).
Start by removing your existing mail and exchange accounts. Then remove SEMCEmail.apk (important!) and Exchange.apk from /system/app before you put the two files in the zip archive in either /system/app or /data/app. Set permissions to rw-r-r (644), if pasted in system set owner and group to root:root, if pasted in data set owner and group to system:system. Reboot required.
Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/?oq764iq82vkrl4b
Note: as you mess with system files, obviously root access is a must...
Note 2: if you dont remove SEMCEmail.apk it will override the vanilla apk, the apk must be removed before you go to work.
And here we go, the same package as a flashable zip. Flash from recovery.
As with all flashable stuff on xda, punch yourself in the face if you derp up your device by doing stuff not intended by the manufacturer.
http://www.mediafire.com/?nmn327j2dadsdn7
Scrap that for tonight, zip doesnt install, typo at my end probably. I'll check the installer script tomorrow on the pc its kinda late now for on screen keyboards at 3:30am...
Note: this is made of ICS Android 4.0.x components and it will remove SemcEmail.apk and Exchange.apk and replace it with the vanilla ICS Email.apk looking similar to the Gmail app plus a patched Exchange.apk which doesnt honour the Exchange servers security policy, forcing a pin and password lock on you and forced timeout after 5 seconds and a subsequent screenlock etc.
Have fun.
Got some screenshots?
Looks interesting
Can this be used on latest T fw. 223?

I don't see CONTACTS in my Sync options in Galaxy Gear. How can I get CONTACTS on my Galaxy Gear?
My Tablet Talk can't access my contacts; when I click on the magnifying glass, it tells me "This device does not support the built in Android contact chooser"
Is there a contacts APK or something I'm missing? I exported my vcf file and put it in my Galaxy Gear SD root, but I don't know how to load it so that my Tablet Talk can see.
Please help because Tablet Talk is amazing, but I would love to be able to choose contacts and see my contact names instead of just numbers.

There's no way to access the option again to install components you didn't select when you first install the ROM? I guess I didn't select the PEOPLE app when I first put in the Null ROM
Is there any way you can provide the APK? I tried installing the Contact.apk from another thread, but it's for ICS and it just crashes for me. I believe I need it for Jelly Bean?

null_ ROM has a no wipe base so AFAIK you can just reflash it and choose whatever new components you need.
In the Null ROM ZIP file, it has the folder tweaks/apps/contacts/ Contacts.apk and ContactsProvider.apk
I installed Contacts.apk but it still crashes. I believe I need to install the ContactsProvider.apk as well for it to work/store contacts, but I'm having difficulty installing the Provider.apk... when I try it with MobileGo, it says authentication failed. When I try to instal it through the Galaxy Gear, it says Application not installed. Any help?

If you have custom recovery I would just make a backup, copy the backup to your PC, then re-flash null with the extra options.
If settings/whatever somehow get wiped (I'm pretty sure they don't), just restore from your backup, then you can tinker.
But I'm pretty sure it works to just install over - it'll be less time than tinkering around and possibly still ending up with a half-broken install.

I used Root Explorer and allowed access to the System folder. I just copied the ContactsProvider.apk to system/app and now I can open the Contacts App without crashing. YAY!!
