[Q] Sense 6 inbox shortcuts - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Up through Sense 5.5 on my M7 there was a way to add a home screen shortcut for specific email client inboxes (for those of us that are still using something other than Gmail).
Was that feature removed in Sense 6 ROMS as the one's I've tried seem to only have a unified inbox icon. This is a pain when I have 3-5 inboxes active at any one time. I like the quick reference to which inbox mail is going to via the shortcut icon versus a single icon where I have to actually open the app and then look. I know if it's important or not before I even go to the app.
Is there any way to restore this functionality if it's been removed from Sense 6??
Mods if this should be elsewhere, please move (wasn't sure where to go with it so went with where I know - my phone's forum).

Application recommendations (Calendar, email, notifications)

Hello,
I've just recently switched from a Windows Mobile phone to the Hero, and there are a few features I miss from my old phone. I'm hoping that someone can recommend some apps to fill the gap; I've looked around on the forum and not yet found anything that seems like it would do what I want.
Calendar:
The calendar app that comes with the phone works great for everything except one simple feature - it displays all events on the monthly view with the same icon. My old phone used to have different icons for events in the morning, afternoon or 'all day'. This made it a lot easier to tell them apart at a glance. Edit: You also can't flick the screen to the side to scroll through days.
Mail:
This is just a minor annoyance. You can't swap between emails or email accounts by flicking the screen to the side.
Notifications:
If I've missed a call, received a text message or something of that sort, I'd like the phone to vibrate every 5 minutes until I acknowledge that I missed something. Currently all I can find is making the track ball glow, which isn't terribly useful if the phone is in my pocket.
If anyone can recommend some programs to fix those issues, that'd be great. (By the way, I'm using the Modaco custom ROM v2.2) Thanks!
Steve
For text notifications, grab SMS Popup from the Market. Brilliant little app imo
For the calendar get Pure Grid Calendar and turn on the Timeline option in settings

Missed call can repeat notifications for missed calls and texts. You can also set the vibration pattern.
For notifications, I use Missed Call. Seems to work well for missed calls and SMS messages which is all I need it for.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I tried SMS popup and it worked fine for texts, but as expected, it didn't do anything for missed calls. I've now installed Missed Call; I'll see how well it works tomorrow.

As for Pure Grid Calendar, that looks good. However it's a paid app; does it work well? The reviews generally were positive, but I'm paranoid about paying for something that doesn't work quite how I'd like it. In particular I forgot to mention that I need it to sync with Google Calendar - the guy's website suggests it does in some of the comments but doesn't specifically say so. Do you know if that's definitely the case?
Thanks again guys.
Pure Grid Calendar and it's cousin Pure Calendar are paid apps but you do get to use them for about 24 hours for free. If you then install you get a refund. My understanding is that this happens for all paid apps but perhaps someone who knows more about market can confirm.
As to syncing with Google calendar, again my understanding is that it is the device itself that syncs. In each calendar app, including HTC calendar, you just choose which calendars you want that app to display. The pure calendars are the same.
Personally I use Pure Calendar rather than the grid as it shows an agenda style widget in a 4x2 format.

I read that somewhere else as well, and then went to check the Market. That's indeed what the Google Terms of Service said; you can get a refund within 24 hours as long as you haven't tried downloading the program before.

Ah, that does make sense. That way each designer doesn't have to program their own syncing code.

I actually tried the Pure Grid Calendar yesterday, and I'm happy with it. I particularly like how it brings up a pop-up of the day's events if you tap a day.
I'll have a look at the Pure non-grid Calendar as well later, as I can't access the market from where I am at the moment. I assume its advantage over the basic Android calendar widget is that it displays multiple days?
Thanks to you both for your help.
Recurring Events
I am new to Android from WinMo as well. I am having trouble with recurring events. I work a rotating (2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off; I KNOW!!! ) schedule for 2 wks with one workgroup then repeating for two weeks with another workgoup, then starting over.
This was not a problem with the calendar in my WinMo Tilt. I could "program" my work schedule in my phone and look out as far as I wanted to. I miss my calendar!
Am I missing something, or is the android calendar completely lacking in this area? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sense/Phone app and default contacts/dialer...

Is there anyway I can only use the default 2.1 phone and contacts apps while using alhpa 14 of Paul's Desire ROM? The phone app and people app do not work properly, showing me all the SIM contacts I have, toggling this off doesn't even work. Push/pull/etc or something? Very confused. Can I delete the phone app?
I replaced HtcDialer.apk with CM5's Contacts.apk and renamed it to HtcDialer.apk, now I get android.process.acore stopping unexpectedly.??
the errors could be due to the HtcDialer app integration with Rosie (e.g., Sense UI). i don't know for sure. you can push the Nexus 1 Contacts.apk to your phone and then place the Phone icon (with the blue background) on your home page. as you change contact info, etc., you'll be prompted to choose the Contact app to complete the change; select the N1 contacts app (as the default ap) and it will launched automatically. unfortunately, i have yet to find a way to launch the N1 stock dialer via the Phone button on the home page. there are a few other activities that won't launch the N1 Contacts app, but i can live with that.

Sumit's Omnia II/Pro Ultimate Samsung Messaging FIX :)

Hi Friends,
If you have been using a Samsung Omnia Pro or Omnia II for a while, you know what a pain in the *** is the Samsung's SMS/MMS application, also known as jinbox. This application is dead slow and takes huge amount of memory if left running. Almost 99% of the people I have seen want to get rid of it somehow.
In the past, some developers, including me, have released various fixes for this problem. For example, my Omnia Messaging Switcher application, which lets you switch between the native SMS system as well as Samsung messaging system. But all these utilities fail at one thing or another. You have to choose between either having faster, native SMS app and loosing MMS capability or keep both SMS and MMS functionality and take the pain of using that monstrous app.
Now here is a solution to all of your problems!
This small cab will install following fixes on your phone :
1. Your messaging application will be switched to Native Windows Application. The "Message" shortcut will point to this, and there will be a separate shortcut named "Samsung Messaging" for accessing the Samsung sh*t if you still want to use it for some reason.
2. In the SMS account, on clicking New, you will get 2 options instead of one: SMS or MMS. On creating SMS, the default Windows Native SMS composer will open just the way you like it. On creating MMS, the Samsung composer will open, without loading the whole Samsung Messaging App. The MMS sent and received by you will be perfectly visible in Sent Items/Inbox and perfectly editable/viewable, even in the threaded messaging view.
3. The E-Mail shortcut's icon will change to a better looking one and if you are on default settings, tapping it will show the list of email accounts to choose from.
All in all, it will seems to work just like it should smile.gif Let me know if you guys face any issues. Its working as it should on JC2/JE2 default and my custom roms, at least on my phone.

[Q] Contacts - Bug?

I'm just going to throw this out there, don't know if it's a bug or just some setting I can't find.
I had the 1/23/11 build running fine on my Sprint HTC Hero. Updated to the 2/25/11 build. My contacts are synced with my gmail account and it retrieved them just fine, but now for the phone number labels, it no longer shows mobile, home or work. It has instead Home Fax, Pager, Other, Callback, Car, Company Main, ISDN and Work Fax.
In my contact list on my gmail acct they are listed ok with the mobile, home, etc. but the phone won't show the correct labels.
Even if I add a new contact, synced or not it does not have those above mentioned labels in there anymore.
Any ideas as to what might have happened?
I must give props though, everything does seem a lot faster and cleaner then my previous version, nice work!
After trial and error, figured out it was the circle_battery mod doing this. It was also make other buttons, labels display as random words, sometimes symbols on buttons and links also, not just the contacts.
Wiped, Reflashed the ROM, gapps and FR-Boot, bye bye circlebatterymod.
Cyanogenmod Settings>Interface>Status Bar Tweaks>Battery Percentage
Its not as pretty as circle battery mod, but it works.

Moto G 2015- Email Address Added As Contacts

Hi, some inconvenients with lollipop
Hello, i was a jellybean user for 2 years, i recently got a moto g 2015 lollipop and have some issues, related to the lollipop so i assume this is the right place even if it is for motog 2014.
theres 3 issues i can't figure out,
1) I have to add a goggle account to the android for it to work with everything right? i mean, the PlayStore app and ****.
For that, i have always used a hotmail address ive had for years which is linked to youtube, facebook etc..
But this lollipop, decided to add a single contact entry for each and all of the emails ive emailed with that account.
Its effin annoying. So i deleted all the contacts I didn't want there, and went to settings-accounts and disabled its SYNC
on that hotmail address. I did that yesterday, and today all the email address contacts were added again today. Wtf
I don't want to create a new clean email account just for the android because I do want my youtube subscriptions alerts.
So what to do?
2) On my previous android device, the jellybean, If i want to delete a whole bunch of contacts. I could check a box next to each of a contact, and select a whole lot, then just hit a DELETE button. In lollipop, the only way is to manually go by one by one of the contacts. select contact, select its details, hit delete. thats a 3click process for ONE contact. I mean. wtf are these guys thinking? Is there a workaround for this?
3) Last but not least. Say i got a missing call on the call registry. And i want to send a message either SMS or whatsapp to that number. In jellybean I could hit the send message button and it would ask me if I wanted to SMS or Whatsapp. AND VOILA. write the message to the number and send it.
In lollipop, theres no message button to numbers that aren't in your contact list. WTF .. I have to add that number to contacts. And then, a send text message button appears next to the name but it only works for SMS, no whatsapp. If i want to whatsapp that number, i'd need open whatsapp and search that newly added entry thru 200 contacts.
i mean seriously. what the **** are these developers thinking.
Sorry for rant. Hope someone has some solutions
Thanks in advance.
Hmmmm I completely understand all the issues and they're all kind of related to the Contacts app on STOCK Lollipop ( stock in caps because its just a truth that skinned versions of Android actually do a better job in their respective dialer and contacts apps or at least that's my experience) and what I've personally done to alleviate some of my contacts issues is to use Contacts+ from the play store. It merges all of your contacts with similar traits etc instead of having 5 different contacts for emails that should be grouped to their respective contact. It also has good organization features. I personally have it set to only show contacts with phone numbers. You can play around with the app and see if you like it. Its also a messaging app and a dialer so an all in one app but I prefer to use it as a contacts app only since I have better alternatives for the others. Check it out. Maybe it'll help and this is not a promo Lol its just that I've personally dealt with this and heard of contacts + and here we are.
