Moto X Stock Camera - Moto X Q&A

Can somebody please pull the necessary file from a Moto X with working Camera on 4.4.4? I would also like to know how I can put that on my unlocked X with TWRP installed. My camera was working fine till about a week ago, but, now I always get that dreaded "Camera Error! Please restart camera" error. I have tried everything from clearing cache, FDR, SBF and uninstall/re-install from play store.

If you returned your device to stock with the SBF and it's the same.... Without installing a single app first.... It could very well be a hardware issue.

Well my camera has not crashed in that way by giving that error like OP said, but I have seen several times it crashed by showing some Device Stowed or some error message! I don't even know what Stow means, LOL.

I have been trying to return to Stock using RSD lite (also tried manual method), I keep getting "sp space is not enough" in red for the following command:
mfastboot flash system system.img
phone does boot normally, but, I still continue to have camera problem. I'm guessing, I'm not able to flash system partition and that's why I continue to have the Camera problem.
Can somebody please help. I have checked my fastboot and mfastboot files, everything seems to be ok.

Need help unbricking moto x!!!

I have a rooted sprint moto x that was running cm 12.1 and I used a toolkit to try and restore it to stock and ended up deleting the os and twrp recovery. I managed to flash the recovery back onto the phone using adb commands, however my PC doesn't recognize my moto as a USB storage device so I am unable to move the rom zip file to the phone. I tried flashing in fastboot and also adb push to push the file to the phone however nothing works..... If anyone could help me I'd greatly appreciate it

When you get into bootloader mode, are you using fastboot or mfastboot to flash system? If your system image is a single file instead of sparse chunks, you need to use mfastboot.

At first I used fastboot to flash the entire zip but it would say download size too large. Then I tried using mfastboot to flash the boot.img separately but that just gives me an error message.

It is impossible for anyone to know what is wrong with your device if you can't tell us what the error message is. Post back when you know.

okay it keeps saying remote failure on the command prompt and it says "downgraded security version, update gpt_main version failed, preflash validation failed for gpt" on the bootloader
UPDATE": so after some time I was sorta able to get the mfastboot to work my moto x booted up normally and seemed to be running stock 4.2.2 however i get the message "the process com.android.phone has stopped" constantly to the point where the phone is unusable

UPDATE2- so after reflashing the files I stopped receiving the message and I am able to make and receive calls and texts. However, the phone will constantly power off after a minute of use... this seems to be the only problem so far.

Aha I think I finally got it ! so i forgot to flash the stock recovery over my twrp so when i went to upgrade to 4.4.4 it would keep powering the phone off to install the update but load up twrp intead. A quick flash of the custom recovery and everything seems to be working fine. Thanks for all your help JulesJam I was seriously worried I bricked my phone beyond repair.

[MOTO X1 - BRICKED] I think I got the master level bricked.

Ok, this is only for the Jedi masters.
I have a Moto X (1st gen - XT1058) bricked. However I think I got the master level bricked.
I was using the ROM Retail BR 4.4.4 and I upgraded to version 5.1 via OTA. All went quiet until the unit began to catch on and off yourself. I reinstalled version 5.1 via RSD Lite smoothly. The device worked for a few weeks but after some time the same problems again.
Until the phone died. Do not leave the boot screen.
I thought it was something not too bad, because I could still access the Fastboot (AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) 30.BE). However I can not get into Recovery mode and something else I do return with errors involving:
Failed to read signature is aboot partition
Boot up failed
The solutions I found on the internet I've tried:
Reinstall the original ROM by RSD Lite (and earlier also suppressing gpt.bin)
- Always fails when the application tries to apply flash partition gpt.bin. If I delete this line in the XML file, the failure persists, but the next line of execution.
Use original gpt.bin files, boot.img, system.img and recovery.img and try to install them through the mfastboot fastboot command and Windows Terminal 7 (32 and 64bit).
Use a file blankflash & the qflash.exe ... command from the Windows terminal. Can install the drives and recognize the specific port of the device, but the process does not continue.
Does anyone have any light around? Something different than I've ever tried?
My daughter is missed to watch Pocoyo in Youtube. It was the only thing that calms my little child.
Help me! :crying:

no OS; bootloader and recovery don't work properly

Hey guys
I have a Moto x (xt1052) with unlocked bootloader. At this moment I have no OS installed. I can enter bootloader and recovery mode but none of them work properly. As I tried flashing the system using mfastboot it seemed as everything has worked properly but when I tried rebooting the phone, I found out there was still no OS installed.
In recovery mode I get an error no matter what I'm doing. Most of the time it says "unable to mount /data" or "unable to mount storage". I think I lost root but I can't install supersu without an OS and can't install an OS without root.
I also tried RSD lite but it somehow has a problem with my ROMs (I tried three different ones, two of them worked perfectly fine on my phone before).
I really have no idea what I could try next so hopefully you can help me!
Thanks a lot!

Moto e5 play issue.

Hello everybody! I need help with my Moto e5 play XT1921-3 the problem that I have been facing is that the phone won't turn on like it used to. It still, charges, but I can only get it into ap fastboot mode and it does not let me access any of the features like recovery mode, because when I select it, it just turns the phone off and flashes a charging logo over and over again. I have never rooted my phone or have done anything riskful with it. It is very difficult to get it into ap fastboot with the battery inserted in the phone, but it is possible. This problem happened out of nowhere. All I did was take out the battery of my phone, after Shutting it off all the way. Then when I put the battery back in, this is when this problem started happening. This has happened to me before and I have fixed it before, using rsd lite, but now when I try to use rsd lite, I get a failed error everytime saying "failed partion gpt.bin/32" I also tried to fix that error, but I just keep getting an error after error message, I even took it to the T-Mobile store and they told me to keep it charged overnight. This is starting to get very stressful because I need my phone. If anyone can please help me, that will be very appreciated. Thank you.
Here's some stuff that should get you going again. The 3 links I posted all contain the necessary files to flash your phone to stock. You'll need the latest firmware for your phone as well. Install the Moto drivers, adb and fastboot files, and use the xml to batch converter to convert the firmware to a Windows batch script (assuming you use Windows). All the links will have instructions on installation and usage. If you need any more help let me know. I have the same device. http://www.rootjunkysdl.com/files/Android Programs/RSD_Lite_Motorola_XML_To_Batch_Script.zip

Calling some one freezes phone

I have tried multiple times to install mr3 global image, I have all drivers installed and device showing however always get an error . However I managed to get it going but Fastboot stoped on system.img when using flash_all and I think that's what has caused my phone app to crash the whole phone when I try to ring someone... If any one can help it would much appreciated... Thank you
Sorted this by flashing to MR2 factory IMG and I run in to critical partition error but the .IMG files all seemed to carry on installing on the phone It ended up my phone not booting and saying device is corrupt and cannot be trusted thought phone was bricked, how ever I fixed it ...
even though it was already OEM unlocked I just fastboot OEM unlocked again and flashed MR2 and it booted .. updated OTA to MR3
