Need a little help here. I have the AT&T HTC One, and I'm pattern locked out of it. I got in trouble and my parents "grounded" me for a month by changing the pattern. That way I can still receive calls but can't text or do anything else on the phone. Unfortunately my dad is pretty tech-savvy and also changed my Google account password, so I can't unlock it that way.
Is there any way that I can get in, or am I just locked out? Unfortunately USB debugging isn't turned on on the phone, so I haven't been able to ADB into it. I also need to get in without losing any of my data. If anyone can help please let me know.

LOL, that's what you get for being naughty.
only way to disable it is to go into the bootloader and factory reset, but that's going to wipe your data too, other than that, wait till your un-grounded and get the pattern off your dad.
Just flash another rom. Pictures music etc will be saved. You just lose the text messages and app data which isn't saved on the SD card partition. That's what I would do.
Dead Thread but oh well

Well that's the M7's downside: It doesn't have an SD Card slot.

he wasn't referring to an sd card slot but to the sdcard partition (/sdcard) which is a symlink for /data/media/0
Lets say your BL is already unlocked and like above, your dad change your pattern code, you can simply re-flash the rom (/system partition) and your /data/media/0 will not be wiped. So yeah, it's a way to "bypass" the unknown pattern without loosing any user data.
If your bootloader is locked then it's another story since /data/media/0 will be wiped during the BL unlock in your attempt to reflash your /system partition. That will still get you rid of the unknown pattern but also all your files...
Hi all,
Greetings first as this is my first post on XDA and appreciate all you guys contribution all the way through here. Back to the topic I got my X9 using in good condition unless of low remaining space yet some weeks ago during my normal use the machine suddenly froze and reboot and after that though I am able to unlock on the first boot screen, by using the same unlock pattern I cannot enter my desktop and it always tell the pattern is incorrect. Yet no matter how many trial I did it didn't force me to exponential-time-wait. I googled for some time and learnt that the same problem happened on samsung S7 and some nexus device (those HTC made ones?) So at this point I am wondering if:
- there is any chance I can unlock my phone without data loss? i tried "find your phone" on ADM yet over-riding lock screen seems no longer work;
- The machine is clean as-is from the factory without any s-on/off or unlock of bootloader; under current circumstance am I still able to install TWRP and get a back up being dumped? (seems I can dump a copy and use the pc script to look into the gesture-key, or simply delete the gesture.key from TWRP / aroma manager);
- Any other alternatives I can do? I really want to keep the data inside as there were some precious photo as well as some chat-record that is not being backup to the g-drive;
thanks in advance =)
Hi all. I tried flashing a kernel, didn't like it, reverted to backup but it seems that backup had pin also saved. Restarted phone, now it asks for pin but doesn't recognise pin I put in :/ please help as my Mrs is gonna kill me if I've knackered the phone!!

Delete (or rename) the following files inside /data/system (note that probably not all of them exist for you, simply delete those you can find):
password.key
pattern.key
basically any .key file in that folder
Using TWRP file manager (its under advanced)
Thanks man. Problem is, I could only see my device on PC if phone was started via twrp. If not, device shows on PC when plugged in but won't show any files.
I have booted phone into recovery, seems that it will let me do that. Is that any help?. Mrs has just come back from work.... Gulp!
Ohhhhh maaaaan. You are the don!!!!!. I'm in now, you sir are a star!. How can I now get the phone back to having password?. Have I buggered it as I deleted the files??

nope just open settings, security and choose a new lock method. might be a bit buggy, if it asks you for an existing pin whilst setting the new lock screen either enter anything or leave it blank. then set your pin hit thanks if i helped

Hmm. Not going so well now. I'm doing the following:
Security> screen lock. 'Confirm pin'. I enter a pin, then either a) press 'OK'... Screen goes back to 'security & fingerprint' screen. Shows 'screenlock none'. Or, if I try to previous then press forward arrow on keypad (rather than pressing OK), it goes to blank screen with left facing arrow at top of screen saying 'choose screen lock'?.
I've also noticed that in security & screenlock screen, it shows 'finger 1' under fingerprint list. Like it still has a fingerprint saved.

Yeah the fingerprint will be saved, i cant remember exactly how i did it (i'm not doing it on my phone as my bank already hate me for being rooted and registering android pay like 20 times a month) - if i remember i enter a pin, then choose either pin again or none, and after none go back to pin. I think that worked, but don't hold me to it - it's easy to recover i just dont have a device in that state to try. I could teamviewer your phone if you want me to and sort it haha. Just have a mess around to see what happens, one combination of that should work. Basically android still thinks you have a pin, but it's physically not there.

Haha, ta bud. I'll have a fiddle with it
Tried every combination of fiddling that I can. Wondered, if I dirty flash copy of OOS 4.02 over current ROM, would it sort it?. Would I lose root & unlocked bootloader etc if I do this?

I'll shoot you a pm if I run into more probs in my quest to pimp the phone . Its all a learning game lol. Opo3t is certainly blowing away my modded n6 so far lol and I'm still only using the standard ROM. Can't wait for some of the nexus devs to make it over to the one+ with uber quick ROMs/kernels

Hi Guys,
I think I have no lucky these days...
I was testing a new ROM and when a returned the backup with TWRP android asked me a patteren for unlock.
The patter I usauly use dont work.
I found a help that say to erase some files in /data/system but it doenst work...
I had a idea to block the cell with my google account and set a new PIN for unnlock... It doenst work
Now I have the cell blocked by google and its impossible to access the internal memory with TWRP...
I need help... I dont know what to do...
Please !!!!
Sounds like your only way back is to format/delete all your data and start from scratch. You can use fastboot to do this.
I think this is the way... but I never did this before...
Do you know a step by step to do this !?
If I understand rightly you have a Google locked phone. I have not tried this on the OP3T but if you are able to reach the boot up screen where Google asks you for the password/pattern lock, you can try inserting an OTG drive of any capacity into your device. The phone will ask for changing storage. After clicking 'OK' you will be taken to the storage section. Go to 'Apps' and from there to 'Setting'. If you are able to reach this far, do a complete reset from that 'Settings' section and you would be able to recover your phone. I repeat, I have not tried this on the OP3T but have successfully tried this on some other phones. Best of luck and hope you get back your toy.
Let me also add that you won't be able to recover a Google blocked phone by factory resetting from recovery. The only way to do this is to reset it from the settings section of the OS itself after you have booted up.

Hey,
I was running Android P Beta, and had an OTA update today.
As it's been said on the beta topic, it apparently put me back on Oreo (the pattern lock is different on P).
But now I can't unlock the phone with the pattern at boot. When I put it the right pattern, it gives me a black screen, and ask me to unlock again.
So nothing's coming up, no wifi, no backup etc.
Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this **** ?
Thanks guys.

Thanks for your answer.
I know I could do that, but I'd like to be able to get some data back first (like whatsapp messages).
Whichi is why I'm trying to find a workaround, but so far it's not really a success.
have you tried android unlock my phone method?
Go to google and sign in. Then go to find/locate my device and then check the option unlock my phone. It will help surely.

i think that OTA update on Android P is in real "Android 0 8.1 June Update", as mentioned here, if this true that's the reason why you have problems
