By stating that simple sentence none of us could determine the exact cause. Maybe you've did something wrong during the connecting of your phone to your PC.
In order to make sure your phone is connected to PC, make sure you first hold the volume down button, and then while holding, connect the usb cable to your phone. Then this will make your phone properly connected as flashmode.

I suggest for you to try this one unique method used by adfad666, a developer.
He tried to boot into flashmode, by holding the volume button and the yellow reset button.
If that fails, another person successfully made it by plugging the phone in while on flashmode and then press the volume button down.
If that fails again, another person made it too by actually charging it for the whole night. He then could connect his phone in flashmode. Does your LED bar ever lights up when you connect your charger? This might work for you
Another person tried so much (trial and error) until the phone is recognised.
PS Its fascinating and scary that hard bricks can be recovered mostly by luck

Yellow reset button is a force reboot button located in the backside of your phone, underneath the battery cover. It is intended fore reboots when a device is freezing. But yea a guy use it for recovering from hard brick. He has experience with hardbricks caused by kernel (lol because he builds kernels!) by using that yellow dude on the phone. This however require many trial and errors, as it is quite complicated to actually achieve flashmode connection using the yellow button compared to the normal procedures. However, chances are you may succeed.
I would like to have a look at the resource you used to modify your hosts file, if you please to share.

turns out what you did is completely different from what I intended. Well it seemed that your phone is stuck somehow. In a normal shutdown, when you press that yellow button, it won't start at all (yes I did that an hour ago before suggesting you that. Since it fails, I didn't tell you about it). Maybe this will make some hard bricks recoverable? I don't know either. This is a really strange world.
Okay wondering aside, congratulations that your Xperia SP is recovered from a hard brick! :fingers-crossed: It happens rarely, sometimes simple things can fix it.
No this phone isn't bad. I did so many dangerous things and haven't yet face any hard bricking (I am not quite happy you know, it seems like the hard brick is getting closer to me!). Well there is no firmware updates from Sony that is. However I don't really care about that, since I hate bloated stock ROMs anyway. And personally I don't really care if we are doomed to stuck on 4.4. But I do wish 5 or Lollipop could run on this first Android device of mine.

You are a little vague on the details, but it sounds like your phone is probably in "fastboot-mode", meaning (on the Xperia Z) a black screen and no notification light nor anything else. It will stay in this mode until told to leave it by a computer or holding Power and volume up for like 10 seconds or something. The reason, in that case, that it didn't appear in flashtool could be that you have no fastboot drivers installed on your computer.
Issuing the command "fastboot continue" from a properly setup command prompt will cause it to boot up. Or, as mentioned above, hold power and vol up...

Thanks, i already pressing and holding the power on and volume up button a few times, but sadly nothing happend..i think u might b right, there might b something wrong with the flash driver i installed in my laptop before. i will try to use my friend's laptop (he did a few flash and succeed).
i want to ask something, could the battery dried out even after a couple of hours in this flashboot mode condition?is it possible?
Thanks

does the computer detect the phone in fast boot or not [vol- + pwr] if yes download the update service from sony website and maybe it wil work .
It's a long shot, but plug it in to power then try a hard reset (hold power and volume up) for 10 seconds. The phone should vibrate 3 times.
I have a vague recollection of my phone doing something similar and it wouldn't do anything until I gave it external power.

Xperia Z1 DEAD after updating to latest firmware

I have a c9603 z1 and used the Nordic unbranded ftf to flash my phone. I unticked the three options top right so that nothing would be deleted.
Once the flash was complete, I unplugged the phone around 30 seconds after it finished flashing. Now the phone is completely and utterly dead. No power light from socket or USB
Have tried press and hold vol + power, up and down, press the little reset button..... just lost as to what else to do
Worse thing is, this impatient idiot didn't backup before updating either because I was impatient!

Try Sony Update Service and follow the steps, press the Volume-down and connect the phone to PC when asked, see if the phone is recognized by the program.
Try flashing again but this time, just untick the "Wipe data" option.

Same thing just happened to me. I only unticked wipe date though. As I didn't back up my phone. The other 2 options were ticked. unplugged phone, press power button, and it vibrates but thats it. volume up button and power button, makes the phone vibrate three times. Just put phone on charge, all I get is a blinking red LED light. I thought it was just me. What to do?? I can't afford to lose what is on my phone!
Did you tried the physical reset button under the sim card flap?
Also, you can let your phone charge for some hours, if you see a RED LED after sometime, your phone can be saved!

After flashing you have to wait long time before he run up. So I don't know how long you just wait after that. I got different problem, I connect the phone via flashtool, I star the flash but the phone turn on by its self and the flash is cancelled. The best thing, nothing happen to my phone. What's that?
If you didnt unlock bootloader and flash something else, Please try sony update service.
I tried rescure a complete coma TX, it struggle a lot to flash (took longer than ususal time) and it evetually boot after 5 flashes with SUS.

No bro. I'm not too sure. I'm not new to this flashing game. I know what I was doing. Its blinking. that's never happened before. I've left it on charge for 20 minutes now. I can reflash and wipe everything but I have too much important stuff I can't afford to lose. Sudden death issue?? is it back? I will leave it for an hour and go out for a walk. Doing my head in lol. I would not say stupid things bro but I think the recognition of the phone from flashtool is given by the time you hold down the volume - ... when I do it so fast I have always an error ... then again ... maybe
@Iglesias21
happened to me a similar thing with the old xperia p when I flashed an update ... but I think a flash of this type would not hurt a phone ever so much ... the fact that the computer does not recognize the driver 's I solved it by restarting the pc as I left the phone in the office to charge it thinking it was the fault of the battery ... after retry everything was ok...

Ok, let's try again, now I will hold the volume to the beginning of the flash. Is not possible I have to hold the volume all the time.
To people, with bricked Z1 after flashing, what was your battery percentage before the flash? Coz users appear to experience a huge drop in the percentage after the flash. Maybe it emptied your batteries... I don't know, just a suggestion. Hope you can fix it by letting the phone charge for a few hours.

xperia z not turning on...SUDDEN DEATH???!

hi all,
so i woke up today, took note of something via small notes app on the phone.
went back to sleep with the phone on the charger.
i wake up, try to turn the screen on (LED light indicated full charge with green light), & the screen does not turn on! i figure my hand was blocking the light sensor so i make certain my hand isnt in the way, & try again, still not response. next thing i do is hold the power button & volume rocker up but all this does is turn the phone completely off(no more green led)!
since then i have been trying, & trying to do the reset of vol up + power with no results.
im afraid the phone is dead, & i have to purchase a new one, but im hoping that there is a last resort tactic i may use to revive the phone.
thanks in advance.
:good:
may someone be kind enough to help?
or to point me to proper thread.
ive searched & only results lead to solution which involves pc companion which ive tried but it is not recognizing my phone.
thanks

hi guys,
UPDATE !!!
although very odd, & puzzling(im not complaining!!) the phone came back to life on its own.
i had just finished watching television with the family, when i take the phone out of my pocket & just out of hope push the power button when all the sudden i felt a faint(but lovely) vibration!! a few secs later the logo screens showed, & the phone booted up as normal.
needless to say i am certainly happy the phone is working.
MOST IMPORTANTLY id like to thank those that took the time from their lives to reply to my call for help. It is HUGELY appreciated!
thanks again. :good::good::highfive::highfive::good::good:

[Q] Xperia T LT30p hard brick (?) without any response from phone.

Hello everybody!
I'm new in this forum, I'm also new in Android "tuning", so I don't actually know, what to do in this situation. Ok, I've read other topics about this, but every other seems lighter than my problem.
Firstofall, I wanted to apologize for my english, but I hope, you could understand me. :fingers-crossed:
So, there is an Xperia T LT30p which has been owned by my girlfriend. She donated it to her mother and so on, so long story short, one day there appeared a key and exclamation mark in a yellow triangle (if I understood it right, I really don't know) and after that it was dead. I plugged it in wall charger - nothing, no vibration, no led, nothing, then waited for some time, nothing changed. Ok, removed the back cover, tested voltage on battery - 3,83V, not so dead, I guess... Then I started to read topics in here, sounds like a hard brick, but how to solve it..? I tried to power it up, nothing (as you expected), also tried every possible key combination (power + vol up, power + vol down, vol up/vol down + USB cable) - nothing at all, no vibration, no leds, nothing on the screen. Yesterday I downloaded PC companion, downloaded Flashtool, tried to connect it to PC, of course no drivers, but got the QHSUSB_DLOAD, so I guess, it's not that dead.
Oh yes, the only way how this phone is responding somehow is when I plug in the USB cable/wall charger with removed battery, then it does one red blink and that's all, nothing else. And that doesn't matter if there is any button pressed.
The main question is - what can I try to do in this situation? Is it fully dead?
I really hope for your answers and suggestions, otherwise, I don't really know what to do with that electronic mess on the table... :fingers-crossed:
Remove the battery and press and hold power and volume up buttons simultaneously. Then plug your phone to computer.
You'll be able to flash a kernel with Fastboot mode in Flashtool that way.
If you have the kernel the phone should boot past sony logo. You may then install whatever ftf you like via Flashtool.
Btw, I have read somewhere that the computer recognizing the phone as qhusb_dload is the result of a broken motherboard. Would make most sense anyway, as the phone was not rooted or anything.
I suggest trying above steps anyway.
Good luck!
The phone is not rooted or something, just a stock Xperia...
Just tried as you said, with removed battery pressed power + vol up simultaneously + USB - nothing, I got one red blink and nothing more, computer makes that ''no driver'' sound and that's all, flashtool doesn't find my device...
No wonder about defective motherboard, but the phone is bought in the summer 13', not so old for a phone... And what could had happened with this phone in just everyday use..?
Maybe overhearing or just bad luck with the motherboard.. Sometimes there is no explanation. :/
Is your phone still under warranty ?
Well, technically yes, but warranty card is hiding somewhere, and the phone is bought in an e-shop, i'm not sure if this shop won't send me a few doors further with my phone and I don't even know if this shop still exists..

Hi.
Not yet and I think I won't. I got an information about that sad day when this happened. Sony was upgrading an Android version but this process was interrupted somehow, so, I guess, it's quite dead...

Xperia SP is Dead

HELP! My Xperia SP is dead after unlocking bootloader with official way!
It won't turn on even when I tried to boot it up by connecting via usb to laptop.
I tried to charge it, but it's useless
I also tried to force restart it from restart button but it doesn't wake up
HELPP! :crying:
#UPDATE: By some miracle, the phone boots itself up and get working again. All apps are gone (like factory reset). It shut down about 2 hours then suddenly it came back to life. Still don't get it why this can be happening though. But thank God!

Have you tried the OFF button on the back?
You should try to connect your phone to pc, press volume button and keep it pressed. Then without releasing the volume button, press the restart button on the back until you see the led (blue or green depending on the volume you pressed). This means you have at the same time : usb + volume + reset button on the back.
You should keep it pressed during 3 to 15 seconds. If this doesn't work, put your phone to charge (on wall charger and preferably with stock charger) during 1-2 hours and try again.
Try reflash a stock ftf
Please provide more information to the things you did. Did you use EMMA or FLASHTOOL?

I did that multiple times but there was no sign of life. No led pulse, dead screen, but only warm phone. But it came back on after 2 hours

I have the same problem now and you made my hopes up. I was on PAC rom, normally working, but when i picked up my phone, it wasn't responding, OFF button isn't doing anything and my PC even doesn't recognize the phone over USB. So i hope it will be working again later. :fingers-crossed:
Edit: 12 hours later and still no signs of life, so im' doiwnloading ftf and i'm going to try flashing it...
Make sure you have the driver installed for your phone.
1. Download, install and run the driver update utility. Here's the link where you can download it.
http://www.driverscape.com/download/xperia-sp
2. If it doesn't detect your phone, download flashtool from here:
http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
Make sure you have the latest ftf image in order to flash to your phone. You can download from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311964
3. Make sure your phone is off by force shut down (clicking the OFF hard key in the back)
4. Open flashtool. Press and hold the volume down key and then connect your phone to the computer by USB.
5. The notification bar will light green indicating that it is connected in flash mode.
You can then follow instructions on how to flash through Google search. If you are able to reach step 5 and don't know how to flash, let me know.

Thanks, i know how to flash ftf, but my phone shows no signs of life, when plugged to charger, the LED doesn't light up and i can't go to flash mode aswell. So now it seems that the only thing i can do is to take my phone to repair, as it seems there is some hardware problem...
Dead Xperia SP Also
I have same situation since 21st of December.. I left my Phone on. When I was going to bed. I woke Up and saw this fuzzy blank grey screen, then I pressed the reset button at the back of the phone thinking all will be fine, But since then I've been battling with it. First, No sign of life after plugging, then a day later after I left it connected to my PC, The LED LIGHT turned red, but dead screen. About 15MINS later it goes off, Then comes up again (LED LIGHT) I've tried connecting to PC, it recognises it for about 4seconds and it disconnects automatically, I've tried practically all the method I saw on here.. Rubber band trick, leaving it to charge all night connected to wall charger / PC..All proved abortive, I have been trying to get the MAGIC green LED LIGHT (FLASHMODE) but it never works.. I took it to a repair shop (NOT SONY) He said he only deals with HARDWARE that it wasn't hardware problem, and they then went ahead to flash it.. (I'm out of warranty) STILL NO LUCK.. I'll be glad if anyone can guide me through or come up with a Plausible SOLUTION, 'cause my BREAK has been horrible since my PHONE went M.I.A..... Thank you GUYS
So, finally I'm going to pick up my repaired SP :fingers-crossed:. They thought it was a problem caused by the reset button pushed too hard, but since they've informed me they've changed whole motherboard, the problem must have been somwhere else, maybe they'll tell me where.
(And it seems that despite the fact i've unlocked the bootloader and flashed ROM on it, they will accept it as a warranty repair, because i think they weren't able to get to know that )
My XSP must really hate me. After less than a week since i've picked it up from the repair, it's dead again (everything tried - reset button, leaving it to charge, usb) with no signs of life ... I guess there must be a much bigger problem than just motherboard That means another two weeks with my old slow LG OO. I'm gonna die without it, i've maintained almost a month without it back then, but i had a tablet borrowed for a review. Now it's worse...
Maybe they should give me another XSP instead of trying to repair this one again...
have you considered about the battery?
the battery might be dead for all we know
That may be the problem, but i must also keep in mind that it had its motherboard changed a week ago. Anyway, i took it to the service again, they also said that charger may be causing it, but battery seems more logical to me as there were no problems with charging.
So i have to wait another two long weeks and then i'll know what was it...
