[Q] Original Baseband/Kernel/Android. How should I upgrade? - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

All,
I've got one of the first AT&T Note 3's with the original root done via the ODIN file and haven't upgraded it since which means I have the following:
Android Version: 4.3
Baseband: N900AUCUBMI9
Kernel 3.4.0-1625098
Build Number: JSS15J.N900AUCUBMI9
SELinux: Enforcing
I've recently started poking around the threads again (because of the Note 4) and saw that Walter White has a way to disable the SELinux but requires upgrading to NC2. So I was wondering what the "correct" way was to update from where I'm at? I'm sure I don't want to OTA and haven't followed the threads in a long time I'm not sure where to start. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the link. As I understand it, NC2 is for KitKat, and MJ5 is for JellyBean? I'm currently on JellyBean and not sure if I really need to update to KK. As I understand it, if I go to KK, I can't roll back, correct? Do you have a link for the latest/greatest JB? Also my Knox counter is still 0x0 which I'd like to keep that way if possible.
Thanks again!

[Q] AT&T not letting me update to 4.4.4 led to several issues

The bums at AT&T gave me the 4.4.4 update and it wont let me download. The download always fails every time. I need to get to 4.4.4 from 4.4.2 (version 2.0 which AT&T released afterwards (not the stock)).
I attempted to downgrade my phone back to 4.4.2 (version 1.0) stock in which the phone started out on. I download it but when I try to use odin on it, Odin fails on the flash. Luckily, i phone didnt get bricked and I have a backup already. Just wondering if i can ever get to Lollipop 5.0 or stock 4.4.2 (which i can have a root with). Just asking what did i do wrong with the 4.4.2 flash? Also what are the steps to get 5.0 from 4.4.2 (version 2.0)?
Also, i need to stress this more, i am only a beginner and know little to nothing about this stuff so please explain as thoroughly as possible and sorry in advance if i don't know what a term or phrase is. Thanks.

Follow instructions in this thread first it'll get you to 4.4.2. Once there use towel root to root your phone. And install flash fire ( which will be found in the thread below)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3077652
Then follow the directions in this thread to get to 5.0

Don't get me wrong I enjoy time my phone was rooted but I don' what deal with a rooted phone anymore.
I tried using the SuperSU unroot, but it did not work, I tried looking elsewhere on here but all the info is old, and I found it not to be working, or info about updating the phone but it doesn't work.
How do I make it so it was like I never rooted my phone, to begin with?

At least you could have tried reading a couple of the most popular threads on the G870A first?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g870aof2-5-0-keeproot-t3161733
Bottom of first post, link to original NE4 image, download it, flash with Odin, done.
Edit: From there, you can download the rest of the OTA's from the same site where you got the NE4, to update until OJ3, which is the latest available right now.

I did look but I also wanted to remove root, and could not find a one to do it

G920AUCS5DPJ1 Root?

Any way to root 6.0.1 G920AUCS5DPJ1 yet? Did some research but could not find a way to root for this particular build. Any update?
I've been searching for an easier method to root my phone and I'm shocked at how few options there are to root my s6. I've always been able to come across more than enough information to root all the previous galaxy phones but for some reason there doesn't seem to be an easy method (like ping-pong root or something automated) I'd appreciate if anyone has any feedback on rooting the new build after the November security patch the build number is G925AUCS5DPK1

Feedback is, there is no root for the new builds.

And is there any way to go back to old builds flashing with ODIN an old stock firmware?
I confirm: once you get the phone on a newer version, you can't downgrade it. I tried to go from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1 flashing with ODIN. The ODIN process went well, but after the phone took the older load, it got stuck in the ANDROID screen
To get it back to life i had to flash again its original stock version at 6..0.1
So the question is if there will be any developement on S6 ATT 6.0.1 to get it rooted or TWRP. RIght now it seems we are stuck. No root, No custom rom I will keep my S4 that performs like a charm with root and custom roms!

Development has been essentially dead on the ATT version for many months.

Thanks @dandrumheller for the reply
I am debating myself to try something even i know is highly possible i break the phone. I really need a rooted phone and this s6 is a replacement for my s6 given to me by ATT. If i can't get it rooted, it will sit there forever. So probably i will take the risk to try to root/load anything experimental

how to upgrade from 4.4.2 DynamicKat to 5.0+

Hey guys! I'm tryinig to upgrade to a 5.0 device. I've got several apps that are not supported on 4.4.2.
I'm currently running: DynamicKat 7.1 NH1
Safestrap I've got on here is version 3.75
Baseband says NC2 at the end.
It's the AT&T phone, SM-N900A.
I'm trying to get to 5.0, while still having a rooted phone. I think the only real "feature" I ever used was tethering that the stock image didn't support... as well as a few apps that require root.
I've been looking through forums for a few hours... I keep thinking I find what I need to do, but it's really confusing. I see warnings that "you must be on a 5.0 bootloader!" or "You must be at this baseband!". It seems like I'm not sure which set of instructions I actually need.
Thanks in advance for any help...

Remove Root and Update On SM-N900A Please Help Very Confused

Hi All,
I am a newbie to the root world and in a lapse of judgement I decided to root my phone a year or so back. Naturally I had no idea what I was doing but I think I sort of did it. Now my phone is in this weird root limbo where it is rooted but not really. I can't unroot with supersu it just gives me an error or keeps spinning and does nothing. On boot my phone says Custom which tells me it is kind of rooted and some apps wont work as it says my phone has been modified or has root access. Also my updates fail but I have never quite gotten full root access and things just act weird. I guess that's what I get.... So naturally I have come full circle and would like to remove root and just install a stock rom so I can receive updates on this thing. Also, I am terrified of bricking it. I have searched all over your forum and found 18 versions of 15 roms with 13 ways to do it and I have no clue which way is the correct way. I know baseband plays a role along with version. So here is what I have;
Model: (AT&T)
SAMSUNG-SM-N900A
Android Version:
4.4.2
Baseband Version:
N900AUCUCNC2
Kernel Version:
3.4.0-722276
I hope I didn't miss anything. Some clarity on this matter would be most appreciated and I want to thank anyone for helping me. I hope this post isn't a repeat of some previous post. I tried looking but some details were slightly different. Please help and thank you in advance.

Aside from the fact that NC2 (that's really all the information you need - NC2 for the N900A - isn't currently listed at SamMobile, that's really all you need. Once you download the firmware, you just use Odin to flash it to the phone. I'm about to leave the house or I'd upload it to Mega and give you a link to use to download it (if you trust me - it's exactly the firmware I downloaded from SamMobile when they had it up a few years ago.) Post here if you want me to and I will. Or just look around this forum (AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3) for an NC2 link. (You'll be updated over the air, to 5.0.1, if you're not rooted, though, so you could use an unrooted OC1 or OC2 firmware, which are here (somewhere). (Oc1 and OC2 are the Lollipop ROMs.)
Edit:
Walter has a link to the OC1 (Lollypop) ROM at https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/100-stock-lollipop-5-0-n900aucueoc1-t3069609 You probably want to back everything up, then use the 4-file version. Then you can restore everything except root.
