Brickbug Aftermath: Speeding up the Galaxy S2 i9100, S2 AT&T i777, S2 Epic 4G Touch d710 and Note n7000
UPDATE: CM 12.1 kernels are now available!!! (for CM 12.1-supported platforms only: i9100 and i777.) new kernels are rom-independent: they are no longer tailored to specific official CM builds (they might work with other roms too) and their names no longer reference a specific CM build.
UPDATE: this project now supports all roms and kernels!
if you are not running CyanogenMod M snapshots, please see this post.
this project restores TRIM capability to CyanogenMod kernels for the Galaxy S2 family of 4210-based devices: i9100, i777, d710 and n7000. TRIM is needed to avoid "aging" of the state of the eMMC, the internal flash storage, that eventually slows the device to a crawl. TRIM functionality is built into android 4.3 and later. however, due to historical and safety concerns, TRIM capability was removed from the CM kernels for these devices (and from most if not all other AOSP-based kernels).
STOP!!! DRAGONS AHEAD!!!
in theory there could be risk of hard-bricking your device forever.

2) answer this poll (view results).
3) discuss your n7000 experience below in this thread.

for the supported devices, you will find IsoRec-compatible CyanogenMod-based kernels here. (old kernels without IsoRec support can be found here. yet older retired kernels without FPBug fix are still available here.) note that for some supported devices, no releases or M snapshots are currently being produced. for those devices i can produce kernels based on known 'stable' nightlies if users ask.

no way for me to know! these are CM kernels
Hi, could you perhaps make a kernel with these implementations but based on CM11/Omni? Any of the latest nightlies are "stable".

OHkay.. then i guess you should proceed and create a kernel.. its time we test them.. but will it improve speed by a huge margin or it is just a placebo?

It will vary from user to user, but if you have high I/O lags then yes, there will be a big improvement.
if u used CM and its kernel for long in your phone or ever used up most of the phone's storage since installing CM, it should make q big difference.

I see a problem on the rom CM11. It does not see the contacts on my sim card. I insert the sim card into another device. All my contacts are still on the SIM.
[MB886 Atrix HD] I'm using the CM11 rom and still having that case.
Link
The rom is based on CM11 still have this problem.
I've tried a lot of rom based on CM11. I even tried CM11 on other devices.
If you do not understand my question. I am willing to offer up a few screenshots.
Where is the help topic for CM11?
Any help.
Try validus which I think is based on aosp.

Thank you but I do not like validus rom.
I do not understand why no one is interested in issues CM11? Maybe people do not save contacts in SIM memory.
CM is based on AOSP. Validus, in regard to moto_msm8960, is based on CM as any other custom ROM.
There's already a CM bug report for this issue:
https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-5642
Until that issue is resolved, you can use e.g. the SIM Contacts app from Play store to import your contacts from SIM.
Please don't expect bug reports to be inspected and bugs fixed by just mentioning it in a forum.
Filling a proper bug report in CM JIRA is the way to go.
And yes, storing contacts on SIM card is not much used feature nowadays, as the SIM phonebook capacity is usually rather limited...
I tried the latest release of Liquidsmooth which reads contacts from my sim without a problem. CM11 and crDroid cannot.
Hi, i know it's ironic to create an account just to get some help but i tried googling everywhere but there's no solution to my problem.
I have installed cyanogenmod for my s3 mini eveything was fine but it wont stay off when charging. Instead of showing the battery percentage, it reboots my phone automatically. So please just help me fix this

Which version of CM are you using?
Also is this offline charging? I recall in earlier versions of CM12.1 offine charging did not work; this could be the case with other ROMs too. Try updating to the latest version.
If that doesn't help try reinstalling the ROM. That's solved countless problems for me.
Good luck

Could be either one hey; here's what I would try:
1. Wipe cache/dalvik
2. Do a fresh install of the ROM; might have been a flash error
3. Obtain another ROM (Maybe try a KitKat ROM) and try to flash that and see if it works
1 & 2 will determine if its a minor software error
3 will allow you to determine if there is a problem with your phone
Good luck
This is a compile done for a friend, as he found lp/mm roms to be unbearably laggy, especially when using social media/chatting apps. Just thought it could help some folks hoping to run an updated kitkat in their old(but great) galaxy s3. After some usage, his words were: this phone is part of my hand again .
This is a straight compile from cm11 sources for i9300, with the pac-rom source code(the best kitkat custom rom imo). Battery life, performance and stability are truly superb. Sources merged on 12-Oct-16, therefore having the latest stagefright and other security patches built-in. Wifi-fix for i9300 is also integrated. The rom is working fine with the latest boeffla-kernel(2.14) released for cm11, and thats the tested and recommended configuration. Some useless apps removed(like voicedialer, whisperpush, moviestudio, pacconsole and some more i can not remember) and i also removed pac console from the rom configuration settings framework as well. Have fun using it.

All credits go to cyanogenmod and pac-rom team for both their amazing roms and sources for i9300 and many other phones we use and love!
Thanks you,!!

Not having the phone means no screeshots . You can try it and put some up for everyone to see. You wont be disappointed.
What about gapps?? We have to dwnload it?
This is a clean rom, no gapps, xposed, or other mods included. use opengapps.
Really appreciate your efforts here... Great work on this rom... everything working fine... If possible can you put some time looking into Archidroid 4.4.4... IMO it was the best rom our s3 could ever have.... It has some wakeblock issues that might get resolved if we update the sources. Again thanks for your effort. S3 community owes you!

This problem persist with the latest snapshot of cm 11 also... nly install themes that you like... doesnt affect the functionality of the rom having themes installed.
Thanks for this great ROM. The only issue I have is I cant get 3G to work. Any suggestions? Would be much appreciated...
Its probably an APN problem, try inputting your carrier settings manually. 3g works fine on my friends' phone.
The rom is incredible but I need to restart my system with Wifi turned on so it can connect. If it disconnects (for any reason, disabling wifi, getting out of range etc), it only flashes "Connecting..." when connecting to the router again, but it doesn't connect
Try the fix in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/wifi-fix-cm11-i9300-t2910872 . I already included the needed file in the rom, and it works fine here, but it couldnt hurt to try. Could it also be your router causing this?

Will try! And it isn't the router, it worked with cm12.1 (no issues whatsoever) and cm13 (the issue on cm13 was random disconnects but it was rom related too).
Hey!
Switched to this rom recently and being very impressed, it having all the features one could ever want yet stable and battery friendly. Definitely better than MM roms on S3.
However do we need an kitkat bootloader or do we even have one available? Still on the official 4.3 bootloader and just wondering if could get more stability if upgrading it to kitkat.
Kitkat bootloaders dont exist for the i9300, since it never officially got kitkat. Last semi-stock kitkat rom for the i9300 were ported roms from n7100 and the korean variant of gs3, and they did not include a bootloader, because it would hard-brick the phone. Having installed 4.3 before this was the best you could do. Having this rom installed in 2 phones(my friend's and my sister's) i definitely recommend installing boeffla's last cm11 kernel, no stability, battery, or features problems with it. Actually, apart from the rebooting on uninstalling themes bug, no other bug has been reported to me from them, no even ones in the thread.

Hello !
I have a samsung galaxy s3 gt-i9305 (not root). It was under android 4.4.3. So, i decided to upgrade it. I choose to put him to lineage os 18.0 (exactly : lineage-18.0-20201020-UNOFFICIAL-i9300.zip).
Installation throught twrp works perfectly. But i'm confronted to some issues :
- button don't work (but not really horrible, i change gesture parameter)
- sim isn't detected
So, i try this solution : back to an older ROM where sim is detected, save efs+modem partition, flash phone with LA18.0, restore EFS+modem partition. And i try to root my phone.
But nothing work
Is anyone have an idea about how to solve this pb ?
kind regards !

You mentioned that you have the S3 i9305 and flashed a rom for i9300?!? That won't work proper and with all functions, because many things are different with modem/mobile data and kernel for example.
