I don't have sufficient posts to be able to participate directly in that forum, so have no other choice but to raise my queries here.
I've just flashed over from Overcome "Hermes" to "Jupiter". All's well except that the battery performance is quite drastically affected for me.
I've been reading the improved battery life "Jupiter" gets over earlier versions of the Overcome ROMs, but I seem to be experiencing the opposite.
Already did the batt stat wipe via recovery menu. Do I need to so call "run-in" before it reflects correctly? Even if accuracy is one thing... but dropping 3% just on bootup.... is this typical of an uncalibrated battery?
Appreciate any advise here on what I should do. (Apart from a fresh wipe install )

I appreciate the enthusiasm these coding geniuses have in rolling out update after updates in the ROMS yet I am apprehensive about the effect of these frequent flashing on the Galaxy Tab components itself. This includes the battery.
My job involves electronic repair and there is a so called number of hours before an equipment goes for a thorough check(preventive maintenance) say for example 1000 hours on a meter. Unfortunately the galaxy tab (or any tablet) does not have this. So if you frequently do a flashing on your tab you subject the electronic components to unnecessary stress,thereby affecting the life of the components like the battery.
In "normal" everyday use of the tab you will seldom do any restart/reboot of your tab,yet in flashing ROMs as many as 3 reboots is needed. As I don't know how to measure the surge in current during reboot, I can just imagine how high an initial current during startup is generated, thus putting a big strain on the battery.
Unfortunately the battery is not user detachable.
There was an author here in XDA describing himself/herself as an "flashing addict"(or something similar). I would like to appeal to everyone-please don't be a flashing addict.

According to the Tweaks section at the team overcome website, it will take several charge cycles before you notice an improvement after the stat wipe. Try giving it a few days before going any further.
PS Not to question your ability to follow instructions (sometimes we miss things) but did you charge to 100% with the tab off?
Yes, I did charge to 100% with the Tab off.
Now upon reading the instructions once more..... I might have conducted it slightly different from the written procedure.
I unplugged the Tab from the mains, then only booted up and wiped the batt stats before re-booting. Hmmm.... maybe I'll go try booting up while still plugged into the mains, do the batt stat wipe, and re-boot. (all while plugged into the mains). Then only unplug the charger.
Wonder is there any diff in doing so.....
Would definitely try re-doing it with the tab plugged in while doing the stat wipe. And if it doesn't seem to fix it, do go through a few cycles before reverting back to a previous ROM.
It's important to completely drain your battery before recharging it to 100% in order to complete a cycle.
Hope you fix it. Battery life results vary between tab's even if they are used very similarly, I'm running the OVERCOME Jupiter ROM with IMPROVED battery life. I keep my Bluetooth, Wifi and GPS on all the time. I also flash quite often and have not seen a decrease in overall battery life. It seams that each tab is a bit different, hardware wise, than one another. Everything from battery to board it seems is slightly different coming out of the manufacturing process.

As I did a NoWipe install, all apps and setting are similar (except the new market app).
I was able to run 2 movies back to back (about 3 hours total) and still have at least 40% life left (usually about 45 to 50%). Now on Jupiter, just fiddling around testing the various features for functionality, plus maybe an hour of NFS (total about 3 hours as well).... the batt drops to about 10% life.
Anyway, I'll re-do the calibration and and give it some time to "settle in". Hopefully, that is all that is needed. (I would hate to have to do a full wipe install... and re-installing all apps)

As mentioned in the Tweaks section, perform the Stat wipe and then two full recharge cycle
recharge to 100% (while the Tab is closed) then drain the battery till it is off then repeat the cycle and you will enjoy it man

Viewed purely from an engineering perspective, I'm unable to see any significant connection between the flashing of the ROM and a degradation of battery capacity. Further, in the event that the TAB was connected to a charger during the flashing, I can see absolutely no connection at all! Please help me understand your logic.
Ok Back on topic. PCdumb (dude what's with the username lol). Check your app list. It could a new app you or an old app you updated or an app you didnt use before but you use now that is being a battery hog. A small trick I learned is checking apps running services in the background. Go to Settings, applications, running services and check (why is skype working after Isigned out its not a battery drainer but I hope you got the picture).
Thanks for the advise. That was one of the 1st few things I did to check that there's nothing out of the ordinary running in the background and taking up the juice.
Mine's actually draining alot when in usage. Not too sure about when in standby.... will check later.
If after a few charge cycles and the drain is still bad, guess my only next best option is to do a full wipe, re-stock and re-install.....
I did not get any effect from Battery calibration. As expeced. Anybody did actually?
The background services instead might have an effect on power consumption, I agree. But needs numerous testing...
Batt recal did not give me better battery life. There's no difference in the battery performance after 3 recharge cycles.
My tab can at most get slightly more than 5 hours of continuous usage compared to about close to 7 hours on hermes. This is when i dial down the OC from smartass mode to conservative and also put the min freq to 200 instead of 400 which was the setting i was using all the while.
Doesn't seem to be anything else running in the background. On standby overnight, i only lose about 3% which is not too bad. But when in use, that's where the Batt drains fast. Just for comparison, i only lost 1% at most for overnight standby of about 7 hours when running hermes.
Guess I'll have to live with this if i want the speed and smoothness. Still contemplating whether to restock and do a clean flash.

If you want to confirm that JUPITER is the reason that you are experiencing poor battery life, try re-installing a previous version that you feel worked better for you. Maybe reverting back to a previous version may yield better battery results, and I sure hope so, this way you will know if it's the ROM or other elements affecting the abnormal battery drain.
If you do see an increase in battery life, try flashing JUPITER again, see what the results are. I don't know if flashing and re-flashing will have a negative long term effect on your SGT, I know that I flash every time a new release is out (Stock safe, cooked ROM, Kernel) and if i'm not happy with the release i go back to a proven one by flashing another three times (stock safe, cooked ROM, Kernel) and so far I have not had any (knock on wood) abnormal battery activity.
It's worth giving it a shot (if you haven't already).
EDIT: I know, I know the proper sequence is stock safe, kernel, rom.
after week of using the Overcome ROM i can confirm that the battery performance is between 85 and 90% from the Orignial stock ROM performance
No problem since this is normal as we are using a cooked ROM

I would just recommend you to go back to your older rom.....
Its forbthe best....

I do get 4 to 5 hours of continuous use with overcome Jupiter, mostly browsing the web over
WLAN or umts. Hermes release didn't gave me so much more juice, probably 5 hours.
In the background I have emai push, contacts and calendar sync and some instant messaging apps, if I switch off all that I might get an hour or so more.

Wow, maybe your tab is one of the ones with a battery from the bad batch, and it's finally on its way out. I upgraded from the stock AT&T Rom to Overcome Jupiter, and on Airplane Mode with all stock settings (no overclock or undervolt), mine only drops 1% in standby over 14 hours and I can get about 5 hours of video watching straight with the brightness on max before it dies!

I also been experiencing a major increase in battery drain even after doing a couple wipes exactly according to the tweak guide. I went from about 24 hour normal use down to 6-8 hours normal use.
Checked the services as per your suggestion above and found a couple major battery drainers running. Skype and Yahoo but also Google+. What I dont understand is why Skype and Yahoo would be running even though I had not started either since at least several re-boots ago. I had Skype and Yahoo installed for quite a while Google+ is a new one. Anyway I killed all of them and now and will see what happens next.
Not sure thought that this is all there is to the issue. Recahrging is finiky as well. I can turn off the tab and let it charge all night just to find that it charged to about 70% if I re-plug it might charge to 90%-95% and then if re-plug it might get to 100%. The drain from 100% to 60%-70% is extremely fast and still quite fast from there. On one occasion after complete drain I couldnt get it to start charging at all for about 5-10 minutes. I was checking power, cables, connections and starting to panic when all of a sudden it started to charge.
Any advice on possible reasons or solution woud be appreciated. Not sure I want to go beck to stock ROM and un-root just to take it to service center for repairs.

firstly, i just wanna say that the HTC Incredible S is a solid and terrific device, previously owning an iPhone 4 i might like the HTC better, except for some things...
The battery:
i read some reviews before buying and every reviewer seemed to love the phone and what the battery has to offer. I've owned the phone for a week, and charge it through the USB cable, connected to my PC, and sometimes the wall socket.
But it seems to me that the battery is a bit short.... if i want the battery full i will let it charge overnight, the next day i powered it on, sent a few texts and listened to half a song and the battery has already drained to 70%, coming to this from an iPhone 4 is disgusting.
I've got Auto-Sync and background data working, i like push notifications for Emails and Facebook and i like the weather to update on its own, also HTC sense incase i need to do things remotely, everything else has been set not to sync.
One of my favorite features is Auto Brightness, which is enabled on default, but when i check battery use it says that 70% has gone to the display, 12% cell network and everything else. I have a task killer that kills all processes when i turn the screen off..
Any help??
Wiping the battery stats a few times helped me, I used to recharge the phone to full battery and after unplugging it from the charger, it would drop to 94% in a few seconds...Oh, after 2-3 weeks, not after a week!
Also I get twice the battery life on Cyanogen 7.1, than on any other Rom I've tried...I get at least 2-3 days with good usage, tons of mails, sms, calls, weather apps etc. Wifi and BT always on. No juice defender or anything like that...
Dropping to ~95% can also be normal though. To preserve the battery the charging circuit should cutout when it reaches 100% charge and let it discharge to 95% before turning on again.
If you do wipe the battery stats make sure you read some guides and do it properly as I've found that more often than not it will have a detrimental affect (from needing to charge before it has fully discharged, or needing to reboot etc).

wipe the stats? sorry im still new to android but so far so good, im impressed with everything else in the incredible s, its very snappy and has a bigger screen vs iPhone 4.
if it helps, i have the phone fully turned off if i charge it overnight.
also, i read on another forum that while it's still brand new it needs to run a few charge cycles to strengthen the battery, if that is true.
It always drops to 95% when the battery is fully charged. S-ON Incredible S is not allowed to wipe battery status. Should I unlock it?
Yes, I forgot to mention...to wipe the battery stats you need to unlock the Hboot...If you have Hboot 1.16.000, then the only option is this:

Unlocking the Hboot is giving you a few benefits, you get to install the CWM recovery and do a full backup of your Rom...Without unlocking the Hbtoot, if your Rom crashes, you can't flash any Rom so you have to send it back to HTC Service ...With the Hboot unlocked you can install custom Roms, you can restore a full backup, you can flash GAPPS etc, wipe battery stats directly from recovery etc etc...
So many benefits...
Now back on how to wipe the stats...The principle behind is simple, if 100%=4.3V and the stats are incorrectly set for 100%=3.9V, then you're never actually recharging the battery to full capacity, which is rubbish...
The way I do it is this - charge to 100%, boot into recovery and wipe the battery stats. Now use the phone until it's shutting down and then charge to 100% again.
Very important is to avoid rebooting the phone after the stats were wiped until the phone is fully recharged. Here is a thread about this process:

In my view, recharging while the phone is off makes no difference.
Yes, it's true. With all my Android phones I went through the same thing, first week or so, the battery was rubbish, but after about 2 weeks it improved a lot.
yeah, i've had it for around one week. so i might take your word for it and give it a chance, maybe for 2 weeks. i was thinking of bringing it back to the store but i'll give it a chance.
a part from the short battery at the moment it's a pretty terrific phone and i like it more than the iPhone 4.
Once the battery is conditioned, phone is rooted, custom Rom installed, bloat frozen out or uninstalled, then you can expect your phone battery to last a good full day with regular usage. No need to switch off when charging over night.
Well its incredible enough for me

well i've had it for almost 2 weeks now. I charged again overnight last night and used it to listen to music and play NinJump/Bejewled on the way home today, battery uptime was just over 30 mins and the battery was down to 70% remaining. That's a bit quick if you ask me.
Not sure what's happening with your phone...but my Inc S has really good battery life, similar to Iphone 4...
At the moment is not rooted (that's why I couldn't take a screenshot) and it's on stock 2.3.3. With BT and Wifi always on, with tons of e-mails daily, browsing, calls (at least 20 minutes per day), tons of messages, etc etc
Screen brightness is always set to maximum and I get at least 2 days battery life, see attached photo...
I'm not playing games or listen to music...so I can't test that side of things and maybe that's where the problem lies.
What's your Battery Usage app saying?
Is there anything unusual listed there?

Maybe try disabling the Optus bloatware. Had a bit of an improvement when I did it to mine. Also be mindful about what apps are running in the background constantly, they could also have an impact on battery life. Screen is a huge battery killer if its constantly on, autobrightness can help slightly if you haven't enabled it already.

That battery usage sounds awesome! I have mine on Auto Brightness and WiFi turned off but its nothing like yours. My battery usage app says most of it has gone to the brightness, of course that percentage goes down when i start opening apps.
edit: im also using the stock Android 2.3.3 installed from the factory. and disabled my Advanced Task Killer, battery is still the same, but the phone now lags a lot less. so thats a plus for now.

When i first got the phone i noticed Optus loaded it with rubbish apps i'd never even touch. I disabled auto updates for the bloatware and forced stop for all the ones running. it doesnt look like i can remove them though :\

do you get good reception where you live? i find that seems to drain most of my battery.

ok atm my incredible s is saying 4 hrs 26 min uptime and 1 hr 21 min awake time, 50% left. my signal here is great, the speed of the internet even beats my ADSL 2+ sometimes. should i be thinking of warranty back to store?
Before i rooted my phone i was charging my phone twice a day - this was nothing new to me as i had been charging my 3gs at least twice a day for the past two years.
However like somebody else has said, once the phone is rooted and all that optus junk has been deleted it lasts a lot longer. And you can notice the difference, my phone has been rooted for 2 days now and i have been on it none stop, modding all the appearence and downloading apps. I have been using it a lot more than i was before it was rooted and it has lasted at least twice as long. So for battery usage i should deffo root. Its HTC sense/screen that hammers your battery. Go look at battery usage and yourll see what i mean.
Also, i know this might sound stupid. But charging it through a wall socket (for me) seems quicker to charge, and seems to last longer than if its charged through a laptop/PC. Although ive thought this for my 3gs as well. If its actually true i dont know haha.

And you can notice the difference, my phone has been rooted for 2 days now and i have been on it none stop, modding all the appearence and downloading apps. I have been using it a lot more than i was before it was rooted and it has lasted at least twice as long. So for battery usage i should deffo root. Its HTC sense/screen that hammers your battery. Go look at battery usage and yourll see what i mean.
Also, i know this might sound stupid. But charging it through a wall socket (for me) seems quicker to charge, and seems to last longer than if its charged through a laptop/PC. Although ive thought this for my 3gs as well. If its actually true i dont know haha.

sounds just about right. my iPhone 4 needed a charge like once every 2 - 4 days, i thought it was awesome. On the Incredible S it says that 62% of the battery usage has gone to display, with very little apps on the list.
The optus apps are just sitting there. Because im on Amaysim i can't exactly use them properly because you need an actual optus account. ive tried opening some of the optus apps, they're mostly just web links and theres a Mobile TV and a Music Store app i believe, but i never at all use them. so they cant be consuming any data, memory or battery or anything, right??
Im still unsure about 'rooting'. Im guessing it's android's version of the jailbreak or a godmode on the device? i might need some help on it, i know how to flash windows mobile and jailbreak iTouch devices easily.
But then again, a lot of people have bought this phone, they cant all be experiencing terrible battery life and i dont think every user would have a root on their device.
I bought it from DickSmith here in Aus, the guy there told me there's a 1 yr back to store warranty. The phone is solid and one of the best phones i've ever had, plus a good price tag on it, its a shame to let a weak battery spoil it.
im thinking of returning it, but i heard somewhere it needs a couple weeks to strengthen the battery, if that's the case then there's no point getting a new one only to wait longer, ill give it a little more time. Plus HTC is releasing 2.3.5 software for the Incredible S soon, and wikiPedia states that it's got "Improved battery efficiency". but ill still keep root in mind for when i get more use to the device.

Yes, about 40min to 1hour display on... sometimes more...I will attach a screenshot once I get throughout the whole battery.
Yes, generally good coverage and mostly 3G...I'm on Optus.
My phone has been rooted before, but now it's on stock Rom as an experiment...
I would strongly advise on rooting, it changes the phone completely.
And remove any animation (live wallpapers) those are killing the battery.
Also found one more thing. If you've got Facebook installed it refreshes every hour, i set mine to never refresh, but you can still receive notifications
But i still don't get why the battery drains soo quickly, even on standby.
edit: found one more thing.
uptime and awake time. when i turn the screen off and awake time should stop counting as the phone is locked and im not using any apps, right?? in some cases i've noticed the awake timer still counts.
example: awake time will read 1:52:39, turn the screen off at this point. go back a couple hours later it's been counting as awake the whole time, and has half battery life it did eventhough i haven't touched the device since locking it and turning off the screen.
in some cases the awake timer will not budge when i lock the phone and turn the screen off and still find the same amount of battery life remaining when i come back.

I've recently bought a SIM-free Galaxy S3 LTE (GT-i9305) smartphone online. I've since changed the battery to an "extended life" 2550mAh one.
I still find the battery draining quick. At 6am its fully charged then by 10pm its down to less than 10%. On my other thread i indicated my normal everyday routine and what i use my phone for. I have had numerous Android phones in the past so i know which ones to turn off, etc.
I understand Chrome can be a drain on the battery so i have disabled it. I have heard of Knox (anti-virus/security) affects it as well but i am not able to uninstall it. I have installed a battery-saving/monitoring app Greenify but i feel it doesn't do anything. Sync is also turned off on my email and social stuff and i put my phone on Airplane mode if i'm at work as the signal tends to be almost zero inside the building.
I also understand the battery tends to improve after a few cycles of charges.
So, Is there anything else i'm missing here?

I'm sorry that this is not helping but I have a similar issue.
My battery drains really quick too. It drains loads with screen off, and I get less than one hour of screen-on time. (with stock) It's been like this for a year, but it's getting worse. I get about three times this with the 7amp zerolemon like I should. Charging is super slow too. I'm really starting to this this is a hardware issue. And no, battery stats, wakelock detector, etc. show nothing. Do you recognize any of my problems?
You say you're using greenify, but have you actually tried greenifying apps? That didn't really cone across.
But what I would suggest would be to us betterbatterystats to check what may be the culprit. I assume you're on stock firmware? In which case I would suggest getting titanium backup to get rid of bloatware.
The last option I could think of would be to try out a factory reset to see if there is any improvement.
I have reached a point of frustration that I can hardly bear anymore.
If I remember correctly, it all started last year around Halloween when I first tried out NewMaclaw's CM11 port. I was dissatisfied with the unusually high battery drain and soon returned to stock where everything went back to normal for the following months. Due to my banking app requiring at least Android 4.3, I started experimenting with the available ROMs again in April. Since then my battery life has never returned to an acceptable state again. It doesn't matter what ROM I use, I would never make it through the day.
I always blamed it on the custom ROMs because after returning to stock for the first time, the battery life was decent again. Due to the suspicious behavior of my battery lately, like dropping or gaining several percent at once upon connecting or disconnecting the charger, I went back to stock for the second time the other day, to determine once and for all whether there was something faulty about the battery. And I thought I would have confirmed just that when the battery drained just as fast on stock. So naturally I ordered a brand new battery (manufacturing date May 2015), and hoped for satisfaction at last.
But this phone is just merciless and continues to punish me for reasons that completely elude me. The first day on stock after a full charge, the battery lasted for a mere 23 hours on stand by in AIRPLANE MODE!!! WiFi was enabled, but only for being able to receive text messages on surespot. No other push services were installed. After the second full charge, I flashed the latest CM11 and instantly noticed that the crazy draining hadn't changed. As a final act of despair, I did an advanced wipe to delete everything on the phone except the external SD card. Of course the effort was meaningless, I was down to 16% after only 11 hours with a screen on time of 2 1/2 hours. All I did was browsing with Firefox. No video or audio, just common websites. Today I did the same thing after yet another recharge, and lost 20% battery after 45 minutes. I always set the display brightness to minimum by the way.
So if it's not a faulty battery, then what the heck is it that prevents the battery from operating normally?!? I really tried everything in the process - flashing several different ROMs, going back to Stock, disabling the location and wake up features of Google Play Services, buying a new battery. What else can cause such ridiculous battery drain, and why did it not occur before I started flashing?
Hello, have you tried to debug which apps and kernel wakelocks eats most battery? Try to install betterbatterystats: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809. That might give you some hint what eats your battery.
Thanks for replying. I don't think it is any particular app since the drain occurs even while on TWRP and right after flashing before having installed any apps. It is also the same whether I browse the web with Firefox mobile or send and receive messages with surespot which are the apps that I primarily use most of the time. I'll give your battery stats a try anyway.

I got my Note5 near launch day. I love everything about it, except the battery life.
Basically, I am not satisfied. I barely make it through the day with moderate usage. The crux of my problem is idle/standby battery drain.
This has been a problem for me ever since I got my Note5 and even for some of my old phones (M8 on Lollipop).
The Issue: I'm fine with how the battery drains when I'm actively using it. I'm not going to go into much detail about that, but I'm satisfied with how fast I seem to be killing the battery while using it. The part I'm not satisfied with is how much the battery drains when I'm not using the phone. Obviously, this must be an issue with wakelocks. When you look at the screenshot below for Android OS, it is always wake for more than 2.5+ hours in a 15 hour usage period. Now, I'm not sure if that's normal anymore. I don't remember how it was on KK, nor do I know if that's what everyone else is getting.
The Issues Cont: So yeah I have massive idle drain. (I estimated that I get about 1.5-1.6% battery drain per hour. I charged my phone up to 100% and let it sit idle overnight for a span of about 8 hours or so. It went from 100 to 91 during that time). What this means for me is that, I can use my phone less and less because while it sits in my phone, it dies quickly! On GSam, it shows that my battery discharged 38% while the screen was off! Again, I don't know if this is 'normal'. What is everyone else getting?
What I tried: I tried factory resetting. Nope. I tried reflashing the firmware, factory resetting. Nope. I booted into safe mode and left it idle overnight. Still dropped to about 92% or so, IIRC. I want to be able to go into a lecture for a few hours and come out with maybe 1% drain, not 3% or 4%. And I want to do this without rooting. I don't want to trip Knox, and I'm tired of rooting and spending hours tinkering with my phone to get decent battery life.

Yes there is something keeping your device awake. Rogue app. First guess would be that Facebook messenger app. Look in settings for your running applications, try to limit those to ones you absolutely need using package disabler. If you don't know what's OK to disable, read through the debloating guidelines thread.

Never let Facebook or Games run in the background and MOST IMPORTANTLY disable location services completely. Keep it on a toggle and turn it off until you need it. Always keep it off or Google will ping your location once every minute. It literally halves battery life.

I don't have the Official Facebook app installed.. And I almost always keep location services off, but the battery still drains as it does..
Use the smart manager app to stop certain apps from running in background and restrict background data for apps that don't need it in the mobile data settings.

My battery is amazing and I can say this as I am a battery guru and have spent countless hours trying to squeeze all the juice out of my devices, which includes eliminating wake locks. If you had root you could figure it out, without root you'll have to start un installing apps 1 at a time until it get's better. Also check your exchange accounts.
I assure you something is wrong as my battery life is the best of any phone I've had.

This probably won't be helpful at all as it is a complete shot in the dark, but perhaps you have an app that is trying to get your location continually since you have it off? Maybe try leaving location on. I never turn it off and I've been getting very good battery life on my T-mobile Note 5.

I also tried leaving location on as well. I can't really see an improvement as well. I actually only recently kept location off.
