Nexus 7 Display Sleep keeps reverting back to 30 seconds

So after the recent 4.2 update on my Nexus 7 it seems my Display Sleep keeps reverting back to 30 seconds and I can't get it to stay on anything else. I thought it might have been because of the Live Wallpaper I was using or enabling Daydream but I've played around with different settings and can't get it to stop switching back to 30 seconds. The only thing I can think of is that it happened after the update. Also my Wifi keeps dropping out and I've read elsewhere this has been an issue with the update as well. Any ideas?

And I'm having the same problem again. My display is resetting back to 30 seconds rather than the 10 minutes I want it at. Any ideas? I really don't want to do a reset again.
Root it, flash a custom ROM and you're good.
Nexus is Latin for root me immediately, haha

Why does the clock go crazy randomly.

My clock says it's 7:42 right now eastern time. I don't understand why this happen so much.

First off, are you in EST?
Second, what have you got under your Date & Time settings?
Mine has done the same thing. I'm in the EST zone. I finally set the clock manually as opposed to carrier time.
Mine did the same thing last night. It was 10:30 pm and my time was showing 6:30. My Whatsapp outgoing had the wrong timestamp but incoming was good. I had to restart to fix t.
Mine is doing the same thing?

I've noticed this when the phone goes into roaming.....
I've taken off the "network provided" time and date and I haven't had the issue since

I wasn't implying you weren't "familiar", but it's not like anyone on this board is telepathic; if we don't have information, it's not easy to help.
I'd advise taking the phone off of network time, changing the time manually, and then (optionally) re-enabling network time. For one reason or another, the automatic settings sometimes just decide to screw up-- and badly.

Help me figure this out!

My phone has not always been this way. Its started in the past week. The battery seems to dive at the end of the day when I quit using it.

Something... Looks like "phone" in your screen shot, is keeping your phone awake for a crazy amount of time. Solve that and you're good again. Google it.

it's the NSA!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure the cause or a permanent solution. But if you see the battery dropping fast... Whether it's from "phone" or anything else.... A reboot should clear it up and you won't lose so much battery life.
That is, if you notice it dropping too fast. Sometimes you might not catch it till it's too late and you're running for a charger. Lol

It's pretty obvious some app is keeping your phone awake once you have solid mobile network signal. Time for you to find out what it is.
I have Gravity box installed. That's it. last night I charged it all the way up before I went to bed. I woke up with a 50℅ loss! This time it was the media server. Whatever that is......if I look on the wakelock detector there are 1000 little things but nothing stands out. Tonight I'll do the same thing but do a reboot before I lay it to rest.
What's weird is I only get this problem when the phone is not being used. If its of any relevance I leave the WiFi on all night. And have it set to turn off when the phone sleeps.

you should know the drill. start getting rid of apps to see if it improves. or, go reverse and start over, installing one app at a time. other posters above are right. you've got something else polling, that's causing the wake lock.

Seems like you could also just have some faulty hardware? e.g. a bad battery or charge sensor?

This is something fairly new. Unless it went belly up.....I still have more testing to do, which can take a while......since it only seems to be happening when I don't use my phone.

There is a bunch of apps to help you out
Usually i use this two
Wakelock detector
battery widget
Use those and paste a print here
Last night I left the WiFi on. Cleared all tabs in the recent and I lost only 28% .
Making progress. It was some app left running that kept it awake. Not sure what though.
Tonight I'll leave the WiFi off.

Battery getting worse.

I feel like my battery keeps getting worse and worse. Used to last me a day and a half and now only about a day.

Hey mate, sorry to hear you are getting worse battery life. Are you using anything from your normal? Check out my guide and see if anything helps. Below are my stats currently. I can only see you still have your alarm on, this can cause a slight lose.
Mine hasn't ever lasted as long as your day and a half, maybe it is just leveling out? A few days ago I recalibrated my battery, maybe that would help?

Try shutting it off ( hold the off button on right side) the turning it back on . Reboot, I had an unexplained battery issue and this fixed it, I can get 3-4 days now.

My battery is either good or bad. Right now it's fine and going good. But sometimes I think something makes my battery worse. I will keep updating with screenshot. I think 8% for only minute on screen time is not that good.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using XDA Free mobile app
Yeah that's great! You can install better battery stats here on xda to see if you are getting any wake locks etc. Greenify plus xposed will do this also, but bbs has more info

I had a battery problem similar to yours not long ago. One of the things that was running it down was in Settings> Wi-Fi> Always allow scanning. The phone would scan for Wi-Fi signal even when Wi-Fi was turned off. Unchecking that box helped a lot.
I also used a battery calibration app that clears the battery stats and that has pretty well fixed the problem.

Huge battery drain

Hi
I don't know why my battery drains very fast.
I attached a picture of battery states
Is it a common problem or should I install a costume kernel?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
Does Wakelock Detector (needs root - you didn't mention) give you any idea of what's draining it?
well, i see that you kept your phone screen on for about an 2 housr and 40 minutes in that 3 hour time frame. that will drain battery, and lots if you have your brightness set at a higher level.

I rebooted my phone into safe mode to see if the battery drainage is caused by an app.
Even in safe mode the problem still persists.

How did you know that I kept my phone screen on for 2 hours?
Because I actually did not use it allot.
I was driving for an hour without using my phone and within an hour the battery dropped from 41% to 30 % (on safe mode)

Leading up to the screenshot did you have your phone on nonstop? Because it's showing as awake.
Also it looks like you have poor signal, which will cause battery drain.

from your screenshot, awake. that can be caused by a process getting stuck too, but it would be on all the time, without breaks. have you tried rebooting? as that can fux a stuck process.

But I looked at it before it was gone and saw that "exchange services" was awake for 2 horse and consumers 23% of battery.
Google play services consumed 2%

An hour later
Still goes down by the minute literally.
1%every minute or 2 if the screen is on.
Is that normal for a nexus 6 device?
