Notice: none of my TVs supports MHL (so I need something, that will let me charge my phone).
I bought MHL cable that was made for Galaxy S3, but it sadly didn't fit to my microUSB port, ofc it didn't work.
The question is, will my HTC One M8 work with MHL adapter that is designed for Galaxy S2 (this one is 5Pin)? It looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/cHkfPMZ.png (not sure if I can post link to store here).

Im looking to get a MHL adapter so I can pump netflex etc to the TV. Has anyone tried one yet? Any recommendations? I can eBay and Amazon them all day long but being new to HTC/Android, should I stick to name brand or is the cheaper stuff OK?
I used the Samsung MHL cable and it works fine.

I have a HDMI cable that works perfectly in a Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Note II, so I was certain there would be no problem using it on the Galaxy Camera, but it seems to be a proprietary port which is a fraction smaller than a micro USB.
I am a bit angry about this, as it means a (probably expensive) Samsung branded cable needs to be purchased. Considering how expensive the camera is, Samsung should have at least provided one.
The other problem is finding a retailer that sells one. I can't seem to locate one as yet.

Hi there, with regards to the HDMI port on the Samsung Galaxy Camera, I believe it is using a standard micro-HDMI sized connector. These ports have been in use on Android devices for a while now so you should be able to pick one up for a reasonable price rather easily. Here is an example of a cable that should work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-HDMI-...=US_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item1e6125af08
Good luck in your hunt!

Thanks for the info, I guess I was so used to a phone's multi use Micro USB socket I forgot that the camera has a separate HDMI socket and that it's pretty much standard! Doh!
I shall now buy a cheap one off eBay.
Thanks again.
I bought on ebay an HDMI cable compatible with GS2 and Note, but with gCam does not work. Does anyone know tell me a compatible model, tried in person? Thanks

I know that Samsung HDMI cable are not compatible betwwen S2/Note and S3. I believe Note 2 and Galaxy Camera use same new format that S3 and it's probably why it doesn't work for you. but not 100% Sure.

Samsung uses 3 different types of connectors in their devices.
there's the regular mhl connector used in the note 1 and S2 which I think is a 6pin connector.
The note 2 and S3 use a Samsung mhl connector which has 11 pins and also allows you to use usb for sync/data transfer while outputting video.
and there's the regular old standard micro sized HDMI port which is used in the galaxy camera.
It's a tiny little port next to the battery, which requires a $0.50 adapter plug to get a full sized HDMI cable plugged in, or you can just use a cable with HDMI micro on one end and full sized HDMI on the other.

I know that Saumsung phones have some kind of weird 11-pin MHL port instead of 5, but I don't know if that is just a Samsung thing or a newer standard.
The MHL adapter I have is the official one from HTC for the EVO 3D. I want to upgrade my phone to a M8, but what I want to know is if the EVO 3D adapter will still work, or if I need a new one. And if it does work, would it not support some of the video output features of the M8 since its a EVO 3D adapter, or are they all the same thing?

That's just a Samsung thing, trying to nickel and dime consumers. Your adapter from the 3D should work just fine. Even if the M8 has MHL 3.0, it is backwards compatible with versions 1 and 2.

Wait, so then are there any MHL 3.0 features the M8 uses which would not work on the EVO 3D adapter?

I don't know if it is MHL 3.0. All the specs I have seen just say MHL and don't denote a version. Was just letting you know that MHL 1 and 2 adapters will continue to work IF it is 3.0.
Hey guys Im looking for a good quality USB to HDMI MHL cable, that will work with the M8. Any good suggestions?

Did your MHL cable work for the M8?
I have a cheap one I got for my Samsung s3, and it has an adapter that goes between the phone and the cable and if I don't use that adapter it works fine. I think the Samsung interface has a switched wire that's why it needs it. So not all cables are the same but if the universal one had a removable adapter it will probably work.

How did you guys got it to work? I bought two different MHL 5pin adapters and none worked. The MHL symbol does appear on the phone but there is no image on the TV. I dont undestand and I am getting desperate, does someone has any tips?
Cheers
A "cheap" MHL cable will probably be MHL 1.0, which won't support 1080p (1080i @ 30Hz max rather than the 1080p @ 60Hz that MHL 2.0 supports)
Most MHL cables are also designed for use with recent Samsung devices, which use a proprietary MHL implementation, which is NOT compatible with non-Samsung devices.
The MHL "standard" is almost totally useless, mostly thanks to Samsung creating this confusion, plus the fact that almost no-one ever categorically states what version of the format (1.0, 2.0 and now 3.0) their devices are.
The new Sony devices support MHL 3.0, if they use a standard implementation then their adapters might be the way to go, assuming they eventually turn up and don't cost an arm and a leg.
Anyone with T-Mobile firmware can please confirm if MHL works?
Hi all,
I have appradio 4. I was using a Samsung 2.0 MHL adapter for my S5. To my surprise, it does not fit S6 Edge. What is the proper accessory?
im sure i read somewhere the s6 doesnt support MHL,
from memory i was part kickstarter for a new mhl lead and they had to ask all s6 owners to cancel as samsung didnt support it?
Yea the post above is correct. S6 only supports screen mirroring miracast not mhl. Sucks if you ask me. Only plus is you can actually hold a charge in your phone using mirroring unlike mhl. Atleast that's how it was with my HTC one.
