Hello all, sorry for creating another "Having trouble with root!" thread but the reading I have done hasn't been of much help. I began rooting my HTC One using QBKing77 (on youtube)'s method. All was going well, I successfully unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP. however whenever I go into TWRP i cannot backup my data. I get an error message that says backup failed. In the 'log' screen it says 'failed to mount data', or something along those lines. when i try to install superSU, which i copied onto my internal storage, it doesnt show at all. In fact, the folders i see are different, meaning I'm not in the actual storage that i usually see when i connect my phone to USB. So, i tried to mount the phone while on TWRP, and I saw the superuser zip file i transfered, but i cannot do anything with it. i tried to add it while mounted as i can see the folders, but it would not let me. i attached some screenshots. Hope i can get this resolved. Thanks in advance!
Looks like you used the wrong version of twrp you should use this one.

Hi,
My new HTC One's vibrate isn't very strong, so the vendor is sending me a new one. I'm rooted though, so thought I'd better start looking at ways to "undo" the root. When looking at options on the HTC One Toolkit, I "somehow" did something to my phone. All I "Thought" I was doing was getting the version information off it, so I could find the correct RUU, but when trying to reboot after that, it just kept going back to the bootloader with some error like "re-locked" and "security warning".
After extensive searches, I learnt I could flash the unlock.bin file again to unlock it. Done...but then it just sat at the "Slim" logo [ROM I was running]. I could still boot into Recovery (CWM) and tried clearing cache and dalvik - but still sat at the "Slim" logo. So I started digging in. I tried to mount the SDcard in CWM, but wouldn't mount. So flashed TWRP, but same thing there. When I try to mount anything, the only folder it will let me select is "System" - nothing else mounts and my "Storage" reads "0 bytes".
So I thought maybe I'd lost root, everything was Read Only and that's why I couldn't write to anything. So using the HTC One toolkit, flashed SuperSu. Still same thing.
I did manage to adb the slim ROM and the gapps to /sdcard, but when I tried to install, nothing would "mount" in order to install it...so all I got was errors saying install failed, and a bunch of directories that couldn't be "mounted". In summary I've done the following with Fastboot:
Flashed Unlock file
Flashed boot.img (from Slim Rom)
flashed Recovery (CWM first, but now TWRP)
Fastboot Clear cache
But after all that, when I boot into Recovery, nothing mounts and I can't get past this. Any help you could provide would be MOST welcome!
Thanks in advance.
-- Edit --
Disregard - got it finally. Using TWRP, I formatted the data directory, and it was writeable again. Not sure if it helped, but I then resubmitted everything I did in the list above, booted to Recovery, and was then able to adb the ROM and Gapps over and it installed fine. Phew.... Still need to figure out how to get it all back to stock though. That's my next task.
Hello guys, I really need your help here.
I will try to explain the situation as detailed as possible, if you still need any info, just ask.
I own a HTC One, carrier locked (Base) and not the sprint version, whatever that is.
Yesterday I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the device, following a tutorial by a german tech site. It all went well, everything worked and I was happy. I did a complete backup of the Internal Storage, as accessible by PC. I did also install TWRP and used it to flash SuperSU. I did not do any backup using TWRP.
After downloading a few root apps, a few demanded missing Busybox, so I went to research a bit. I found some installers, downloaded the first one, and clicked install. It said something along the lines of "Install failed, try another location", so I did that. It failed again. I uninstalled the installer and tried another, same result. After a bit of research, I found out I had to unlock read/write permissions for the system partition.
I then found this Thread, telling to flash a .zip file which contains
- Everything necessary to install the latest SuperSU and supporting files (su binary included)
- Install latest busybox in recovery
- A ported wp_mod.ko module for this kernel
- A script to start wp_mod.ko
- A modified boot.img - insecured (allows for remounting of /system to rw when in Android), enabled USB debugging by default, and added busybox run-parts (alows scripts to run during boot).
Without noticing that the title said "Sprint HTC One" and without knowing the difference, I went on and flashed this .zip using TWRP.
The first time, it turned off/rebooted before it was finished (before TWRP showed the reboot option). Turning it on again, it was stuck on the "HTC - quietly brilliant" screen. I held the power button until it turned off, booted into recovery (TWRP) again and tried flashing the .zip again, this time seemingly successful. I clicked reboot, and it again got stuck on the "HTC - quietly brilliant" screen, now I don't know what to do.
After trying rebooting a few times, I did a factory reset, now before rebooting again, TWRP gave me the warning "No OS - Are you sure to reboot?" or something similar, which I find very strange.
Is my backup of Internal Storage of any use? (BTW: I can not access it right now, sadly)
Does anyone know what I could do?
Thanks in advance for all answers.

Long description, but you didnt say what you want to accomplish.
Anyway, probably easiest to flash a custom ROM using one of the following methods:
1- OTG Cable
2- adb push <name of rom>.zip /sdcard/
3- adb sideload <name of rom>.zip
Hi,
I have an HTC One m7 on T-Mobile, rooted and running Android Revolution 82.0.
I messed up, now I need help to dig myself out of this hole. I do not understand some of this, this could be partly due to my stupidity.
I backed up my system and boot in twrp before i had done any of this.
Last night I wanted to update TWRP. I downloaded "TWRP manager" through the play store, I opened the app and went down to "install twrp" - i installed TWRP 2.8.1.0 through the app, it said flashing successful. Everything was fine. I rebooted my phone into recovery to verify that it had worked. The correct twrp version was displayed at the top. I rebooted my phone into system. After the boot sequence it loaded into the first time run set up manager (by this i mean the thing that comes on when you turn on your phone for the very first time). This shocked me. I went through the procedure to "set up" my phone. All my apps were gone, all settings, everything. It looked as if it were brand new. Even the pre-loaded apps for android revolution were gone. I rebooted back into twrp recovery, went to the file manager and went to the main directory "/". I looked for the folder "/storage" but it wasnt there. I went to go restore my phone to the backups i had made before i tried updating twrp to see if that would help. Nothing changed. after this, I reinstalled the rom through TWRP without wiping anything. All my apps were still gone, all settings were gone, yet all my photos were still there. All of my files for the apps are all there, they are all in the internal storage, all the folders are still in /data , i do not understand what happened. I am also concerned that when I am in recovery and i am in the file manager i cannot see "/storage", as if it is hidden from the recovery file manager. Also, when i select "backup" and it gives me options to backup system, data, etc., under data it only shows 756 mb of data, i have at least 2000 mb, I am wondering if my phone is accessing the storage somewhere else? Please help me find out how to fix my errors. I wish to go back to where i was, or at least figure out what happened to increase my knowledge and NEVER do something like this again.
for some reason which i do not know, my sdcard files are saved in different places? i assume this is just how it's supposed to be. these loacations are : "/storage/emulated/0" - "/storage/emulated/legacy" - "/storage/sdcard0" - "/sdcard" (all of these folders have all of the same files etc.)
Thank you,
Evan

The answer to your mysterious factory reset lies here in this link. For further information see the link in this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55741117&postcount=83118
When in the TWRP file manger your /storage is a Folder called /sdcard.
And the multiple storage locations. Not all of these are actually physical locations you only have one memory chip with one set of files, the other locations are just emulated/virtual copies of your main storage
If you found my post helpful, no need to say thanks. There's a button for that

So what I've gathered from this, is that all my apps are gone forever because I forgot to backup the data. And that is because "Then along comes the recent TWRP builds (2.7.1.2+) that read the bcb on boot. You flash it and boot into recovery, TWRP starts, reads the wipe_data command out of the bcb and proceeds to wipe the /data partition."? Also should I run the reset script in this post? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54370858&postcount=492
since I have a non-sprint htc one I'm not sure if this would do me harm or not. The reason I am asking all these questions is because I want to make sure I don't do something stupid again.

Yep that's about right. Running the script shouldn't do any harm but since you already experienced the Factory reset. The command should no longer be in your bcb anyway. As far as I'm aware this only happens once after a new flash and shouldn't repeat every time you use recovery.
But using the zip to clear your bcb is not a bad idea for piece of mind.
Background: I have the XT1064 (unlocked, single sim), and I actually just bought this phone. I ordered it because I have a droid Turbo that I don't want to risk custom ROMs on, so I figured this $100 device would be good to play with. I first unlocked the bootloader, courtesy of motorola, and then I flashed custom recovery (TWRP). A bit of tinkering later and I discover I can't get the recovery to stick. "oh well, I can plug in my phone and type a command on boot no problem." Next, I tried flashing the latest release of CM12.1 for my phone (titan) and I get an error. I search around trying to fix the error, and everyone says "use the latest nightly (CM13)" and "factory reset your phone via twrp" so that's what I do. Next, after waiting for my phone to start up, I get everything rolling so I can copy my new image over.
Problem: I find that access is denied to "sdcard/download" so I try other folders in sdcard. None are allowed for adb.
Attempted solutions: On my phone, I install ES file explorer, which reveals that everything in sdcard/ is gone except the Android folder, and an extensionless file called TWRP. Still not suspecting anything, I attempt to create a "download" folder. No luck, access still restricted. I tried downloading a file via the internet browser, "failed to find downloads directory". Everything in sdcard is barred from me. Besides the SuperSU that's half-installed (part of twrp apparently) this is a factory new device, I purchased it from best buy via ebay. Is my phone toast already? Or is there something I can do?

Since you can boot it, it's not bricked, if ur on cm 13 , ur external memory card is formatted as internal storage (the reason why you cant access it via twrp) , go to settings >storage and USB > select ur memory card >click on options (top right corner) >format as portable storage. Now you can access ur sd card via twrp. And check ur twrp version, 8.6.0 , and command Used to flash it via Pc "fastboot flash recovery filename.img (remove img from original file) . Hope this helps, and about Cm12, what was the error you were getting?
Yes, I know, I should have backed up...but did not. So, this TP, I cannot go into usb mode or recovery mode. For some reason, I get a weird 4 block pattern. Before I messed up, I was able to use TWRP 2.8.3 to load different gapps and roms in the ttinstall file by mounting. Well, I decided Lollipop was not quite what I wanted and wanted to go back to KitKat. Anyway, in my zeal of trying to fix what may be causing the recovery mode issue, I wiped everything and formatted everything...including the ttinstall file. I can still boot to twrp 2.8.3, but honestly, the sequence of invents I have tried to create a new folder called ttinstall and place in there rom and gapps, it will not load. In fact, I'm not sure where the twrp file is located. So, I would appreciate it if someone has detailed instructions beginning with opening twrp 2.8.3. What sd card to use and folder to create where, and so forth. I can mount the TP and load files via the pc, but I don't quite know where they actually go on the tablet. The device shows up as 1gb on the pc and this is a 32gb TP so I know I messed it up. I was spoiled by the TPToolbox when I was able to use the usb recovery mode and make all changes there.
Any help would be appreciated. I did do a search, but I have not found clear instructions for me. I even saw a youtube, but again, it was more confusing. Thanks.

Edit: Well, that was easy. I just set up the ttinstall folder, then copied the rom and gapps zip files there, unmounted, then selected install from the twrp menu (rom first then gapps), rebooted and presto...running again.
