Hello!
Im stuck with that problem half a year now, cause i dont want to do this by my self and freeze(brick) my precious phone. So im summing up my story..
...I rooted my phone last year and backed up the hole thing with Titanium Backup. After half a year i had upgraded it two times(i think), my calling app dissapeared. So i restored it from Titanium Backup succesfully, but after every reboot it was the same storry. After a while Titanium Backup couldnt restore the calling app and stuck while trying. So i was left with a phone that couldnt make any calls ..
Would the simplest way to fix my phone be to just flash a new Stock-Rom?
If so, could i then restore JUST the Data from Titanium Backup to restore my contacts?
Would there be a Problem because its rooted or smthing else?
:cyclops::cyclops::cyclops:
Thanks!!

I faced similar issue when I were running 4.2.2
Most likely the FTF file/software is corrupted.
To fix it just flash stock ROM FTF with flashtool with full data wipe.

Here is how to flash stock ROMs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-stock-roms-t2240614
Here is the FTF (flash tool firmware) file you need : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/stock-rom-xperia-z-c6603-android-4-4-4-t2871851
Notes: don't download any FTF file from the first link. Only download flashtool.
Don't forget to tick the wipe data box in flashtool. You'll know where is it later
Good luck

Please make a clean installation of 4.4.4 or do a factory reset and you will solve your problems. For rooting you can use kingvortex method on general section. For custom roms use search box or google it, you can try several roms and than decide what is the best for you. Cheers.

Clean install mean: use software called flashtool and the 4.4.4 FTF file to install this update
And @kingvortex is not a method or something!! I he's a famous member here and he's ROOTING guide is HERE!!

Btw.. The heating problem is pretty normal thing for this device. Try to use CPU temp apps in play store. If the CPU temp above 70°C so it's not normal...

I'm not scaring you! Just warning you
The most 2 think you should never ever try or think about them is: flashing other device's kernel. Like flashing other Xperia or Samsung kernel on your device
And the same thing with the ROMs
Those things can hard brick your device. And you will never get it back... So don't try them!
The wrong mods of other devices or ROMs can soft brick your device. This can easily fixed but you will loose your data...
And good thing! You can use any C6602 mods kernels ROMs on C6603 and vice versa
And here is a link for KitKat FTF http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/stock-rom-xperia-z-c6603-android-4-4-4-t2871851

AND THEN, I SAID YOU WERE ASKING ME TO USE STOCK ROM (STILL, I AM USING STOCK ROM), SO I ASKED YOU "You said "try stock based ROM", doesn't that mean you're asking me to use stock ROM?" YOU REPLIED 'YES'. AGAIN, I TOLD YOU I AM USING STOCK ROM ALL THE WHILE. THEN YOU YELLED AT ME. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Hey cool down mate!
Stock based ROM doesn't mean fully stock.
Stock based ROM mean a modified and tweaked stock ROM. But those mods and tweaks are effective for the other apps.
And yes I told you to use **ANOTHER** ROM
It's your choice if you used stock based ROM or fully stock ROM like AOSP or PA etc
Not clear enough? See this
You: I'm using a ROM. ifont not working
Me: use another ROM! ANY!!
not clear enough?
Before flashing and other things you may have to try this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/...aller&pcampaignid=APPU_898bVPqVDsfhywOnnYHoBw

So, the thing is if you installed some other ROM but you did not liked it and want to revert back to your original ROM you can always restore your ROM only if you had backed up your ROM. Incase if your backed up ROM doesnot restore or you don't have a backup than you use flashtool to install the original version of your ROM. But there is one thing, your guarantee is already broken if you used flashtool or even if you install the other ROM and you don't have the original ROM that came up with your mobile.
Those files are just the original firmwares that developers have downloaded with PC companion and made the ftf file with Flashtool, so that it will be easy to install using flashtool.
So, if your mobile has the original ROM and you have not done anything then always update via your PC Companion or from Settings>>About Phone>>Software update.
For other people they cannot update from that method because they are not allowed due to many reasons and they need those ftf files from the link that you stated.

Well I think you are doing something wrong
I'm on Dirty Unicorns now and it's fine. Try this for Dirty Unicorns:
Flash stock ROM FTF
Unlock bootloader (no need if it's already)
Root
Install recovery
Move the ROM to the internal SD
Boot to TWRP recovery (not CWM)
Wipe dalvik and cache
Wipe system
Wipe data
Install the ROM and GAPPS
For others do the same steps BUT flash the kernel via fastboot first (fastboot flash boot boot.img)
Flash the kernel only if this step mentioned in the OP

Wipe data
Install the ROM and GAPPS
For others do the same steps BUT flash the kernel via fastboot first (fastboot flash boot boot.img)
Flash the kernel only if this step mentioned in the OP

Hello there Sony people
a friend is planning to get the Xperia Z and wondering how much free space do we have for apps?(in a stock, brand new phone)
I know the internal is 16gb but how much space can be actually used to install apps?
note: No custom roms, no root...this will just be a clean simple stock phone
thanks :good:

11.73GB
You cannot increase it by rooting or installing ROMs. The remaining space for system.
