Note 4: Clarification Requested on UK Galaxy Devices Region Lock - Galaxy Note 4 General

The Note 4 if purchased in the UK is regionally lock. By installing a Samsung ROM of a different region, can this unlock the regional lock placed by Samsung?

Unless Samsung has changed something the only thing the region lock does is lock your phone to your region if it was not made for your region and was not first used in the region it was made for. So if you buy a phone that was made for a region other than yours and you use it in your region first, it is locked to your region and you cannot use it in another region. If it is used first in the region it was made for you can travel to other regions and still use it.

Are you using your country's sim?
If yes, your device not regional locked
Just check sammobile for your device and country
Also you can use Odin to update your phone make sure that you have right firmware for device
Thankyou Sir. Will I get OTA updates in Pakistan?
In Sammobile, My country is not listed against this model?

Flashing Samsung Galaxy Note 8 - G955W (Canadian) to a G950U1 Note 8

Hi Everyone,
I've searched and could not find a clear answer, and am hoping someone can help.
I just purchased a US Samsung Note 8 (SM-950U1), my question is, is it possible for me to install the G955W (Canadian) firmware on this device?
For Canadian users is anyone currently using a US Note 8 (SM-950U1) Factory unlocked?
Thanks.
Made a typo I meant can I flash SM-N950W Canadian firmware to a SM-950U1 Factory unlocked Note 8
Thanks,

not yet, North American models are all Snapdragon with locked bootloaders. If someone finds a way to unlock the bootloader then you could get a flashable zip version of a Canadian ROM and use that but as far as I've seen nobody has been able to do much with the Snapdragon variants yet.
I have been reading the s8 plus thread where users have flashed the s8 plus Canadian (sm-g955w) firmware to the Us s8 plus (sm-g955u) is it not the same process?
Thanks for your help

If you follow the s8 + guide...if available it would be the same for u...I am working on a guide for carrier switching but it is for U.S. snapdragon models...but it uses the Canadian XAC home_csc...I say pm the poster of the s8+ that you mentioned for details and then flash at your own risk....you can always flash back to your original....before you do, though, insert your Canadian carrier SIM and see if you can activate it...when I was testing the carrier switch there were options to change to Canadian csc's....good luck
Any update? I also bought my note 8 from USA. With the US firmware, we do not have access to certain features like VOLTE or caller ID and spam protection.
Check out blue fox's thread. I just flashed US firmware on a Canadian unlocked XAA device(not sim locked to Rodgers, bell etc). long as your flashing stock Samsung firmware, youll be fine. The Canadian and US Note 8 phones are basically the same.

***Purchased branded ATT Note 9 (SM-N960U) am now switching to Spectrum (Verizon)***

Curious for all you pros out there. I purchased an ATT branded note 9 directly from Samsung running on firmware N960USQS1ARH6 and am now switching to Spectrum (Verizon).
1. Can I use the verizon firmware N960USQS1CSD1 android pie 9? or
2. Do I have to stay on 8 and use the verizon firmware version N960USQS1ARH6 instead of the ATT firmware?
3. Do not want to brick my note 9 and would like to dbl check before flashing.
4. Went down to the spectrum store and they verified my IMEI number is compatible..
Thanks for the help...

Galaxy Note 9 SamMobile Firmware

Hi,
I have a Galaxy Note 9 SM-N960F with region code: XEU,XEU/XSG,XSG.
This device is originally registered in the UAE, sold to me on Amazon but doesn't get firmware updates in the UK.
Can I flash this device with the BTU firmware for the UK and be safe?
Yes you can. Different region firmwares only change the SIM based settings and not the android in itself. There can be customizations done by the operators, use country regions firmwares instead of operator ones to prevent this.
BTU is for UK region, free of operators, so it's ok and can be used almost throughout the globe.
