Change from password to PIN screen unlock after full ecryption
I have krypton 1.4 on my moto x and yesterday I succesfully encrypted it using a strong password, but now I find that it is really a pain in the a.. to input that password everytime I need to unlock. So I'm wondering if it is posible to change the unlock method from password to PIN without messing the phone or loosing information.
Also, is it still posible to upgrade ROM after full encryption?
Thanks

about management of the radio
I wanted to know if this rom is there any change in the management of the radio than the stock Motorola
IN my moto x xt1052 sometimes during the handover signal drops to zero, and often the device is very lazy to change from 2G to 3G
thanks

G+ Community
Hi!
Do you have a G+ Community for this ROM?
Regards,
Luis

Is anyone using this ROM with Tapatalk notifications working?
I've tried using it but none of the Tapatalk active display notifications work. Every other notification works fine with active display though.
Then when I SBF back to stock Tapatalk notifications work fine. I've tried going back and forth between both several times. Stock always work and Krypton never does.
Any ideas? I'd love to use this.

in other custom rom there is a nice settings Power Battery, is it possible to install on this rom?

[Q] Compatibility
Hi, will this work on a XT1053 Telcel GSM Model? (Mexico) I'm currently on KK 4.4.2

is this thread still working?

so is development over for this ROM? I'm sad to see no update..

I believe this ROM is prefect mixed with xposed and doesn't need anything just my opinion. It's my daily for a long long time. I've been toying with LP just for fun and I'm sure once official drops krypton will work his magic on 5.0

CM11 Theme Manager
Hi!
Is possible to add the CM11 theme manager to the rom?
Or because is closed source you can't modify too much the rom?
Thanks!

Cm themer needs a rom based on CM. Possibly other aosp roms can add it.... But this is based on stock moto firmware, it won't work.

Google now isn't working for me after a fresh installation. Restored backup of stock ROM and it worked again.

For some reason the phone radio is terrible on this ROM so sad had to go back to stock..... XT1052

downgrade?
I currently have a Verizon xt1060 running Safestrap with Krypton 1.4.1 (4.4.4) installed. I want to drop back to a version that allows sunshine usage. Can I just restore my original backup of the original firmware that I made in the very beginning?
Thanks!

Keeping the discussion on theming,
would be possible ti make the new Lollipop rom compatible with RRO Layers?
Thanks and sorry if I insists on this!

If you're talking about a nandroid then yes you can flash back to that but it won't affect your ability to use sunshine. You would have to get back to older firmware which would likely brick your phone if you tried. Search for "downgrade brick" and you'll see. You just will have to wait for sunshine 3.0 and don't take a lollipop ota should it come out before sunshine.

I believe my nandroid is 4.4.2 or 4.4.3. So, it will be compatible with Sunshine. I did use the tool to update the kernel though, per the optional instructions in the krypton thread. Will those revert when i nandroid in the safestrap bootloader? Do I just restore as normal into the stock ROM slot or will a basic hard reset do it since it is the bootstrap recovery not a normal custom recovery? Again for reference, this is a Verizon xt1060 nondev, currently locked boatloader.

So I don't know much of anything about safestrap and whether an older (4.4.3 or less) primary rom will still allow you to use sunshine. Take my advice with a grain of salt but I think the best answer is still to just wait for sunshine 3.0 and get a real unlocked bootloader.

Best stock KitKat rom for the Moto X can't wait for the Lollipop build.

Flash S4 Custom ROM ML2

Alright, so I've enjoyed modding my Android devices since I got my first Android running on 2.2, especially because of the options to tweak CPU usage, and just (from what I have noticed) better general usage with all of my devices. I purchased this phone because of it's similar power usage to the S4 and it being water & dust resistant. However, most of the development that I have seen for this forum has been for the i9525, which is the international version. I have the i537, and have been going crazy with battery drainage issues, and I think only a custom kernel/new ROM can fix this. Could somebody point me in the right direction of where to go? I've heard talk that after MF2, installing Safestrap right now is essentially not possible, due to bootloader issues.

SafeStrap works for every version of firmware for the i537, you just need to use the proper version. If you're on ML2 I think you need 3.71, but please check to make sure because I could be wrong. As for a custom kernel or tweaking the CPU, it's not going to be possible on the i537 because the bootloader is locked and you are forced to use the stock kernel. You can try a custom ROM through SafeStrap, but I don't think it's going to help much. You might be better off upgrading the NE3 or NH3 and trying a custom ROM through SafeStrap there.

So essentially until we get the bootloader unlocked and can install a custom recovery (Like CWM or TWRP, instead of using SafeStrap), no "real" custom ROMs? More just ROMs based off of the stock kernel/modem/etc.?

Correct, and most of the people who were leading the development and research of unlocking the bootloader have decided to move on to other things within the last week. At this point it looks like the bootloader will never be unlocked. There's always a slim chance but it's not looking good.

ROM Request: Barebones Stock 4.4.4

Is there a bare bones ROM available for 4.4.4? I recall some being available for previous devices and those seem to have to have the best performance and most popular. Basically just the stock ROM debloated and flashable via TWRP. And if so, would this have working touchless control/active display?
thanks!
The reason it probably isn't there is that most people just root and delete the 10-20 apks manually. Takes pretty much the same amount of time for the same end result.

I'm using Epsilon Project ROM on my XT1060 Verizon Dev edition running AT&T Sim card. It's very minimalist, has working active display and touchless control, and reduces battery consumption considerably compared to stock (DU Battery Saver estimated battery time jumped from 18 hours to 28 hours from full).

thanks for the feedback y'all, looks like I've got some reading/research to do.
IMNUTS - agreed, but from my experience, I think it's best to start with a clean slate rather than trying to debloat various apps - as those could have left other files on the system that could hinder performance.
Make sure to look into Krypton(blur/stock based), Eclipse(same):good:. Honestly I've only ran Krypton but I went back to stock rooted... + xposed etc... had some lag here and there in Krypton, stock is noticiably snappier for me:/ *shrugs

Do you guys (or anyone) know if I would be able to downgrade to a stock 4.4.2 after upgrading to 4.4.4 on Krypton (or any custom ROM, for that matter)? I know there's been a lot of talk about how you shouldn't downgrade... I've always been a little unclear as to whether that applies to stock ROMs only or both stock and custom.
Also, what happens if the install doesn't work? Can I flash a downgraded ROM? I tried installing the latest CM11 for my phone, but it failed, and I reinstalled a stock 4.2.2, and just reading through the forums... I feel like that was a big freakin' no-no.

Roms don't flash bootloader and other certain things, so... The rule is really, don't downgrade official firmware, ever. Once you flash 4.4.2 or higher, you cannot downgrade. Roms are not included, as they don't touch the bootloader. So yes, if you were on official 4.4.2 firmware, flashed a 4.4.4 custom rom, and want to flash 4.4.2 official firmware again.... That's fine.
But if you flash 4.4.4 firmware with fastboot or RSDLite, that's it.... No going back to 4.4.2.
Now, my disclaimer.... You SHOULD be OK. There's no guarantees in life, especially on phone flashing.... Anything can go horribly wrong anytime and doing anything. So do all this at your own peril. ?
Thanks!

[Q] Double Tap on screen to wake up?

Guys I am actually stock at the moment but doubletap to wake up screen is the feature
which I really want on my M7, I read some where long time ago that it was not possible on
M7 since it was a hardware feature but recently I came across a kernel for M7 with this feature. see below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-one/development/kernel-elite-kernels-t2961835
The above kernel needs a GPE L Rom.
I am thinking of rooting and installing a custom rom now, I wanted to ask what rom should I
download in order to get this feature since I am new so I have no idea what a GPE L rom is.
Thanks in advance and sorry if its a noob question!!

As thick said, most custom kernels do come with double tap to wake, aka dt2w.
I'm assuming you know the procedure for rooting and flashing a ROM.
In order to get dt2w, first flash a ROM of choice. Boot up, and set it up according to your liking. Then, find a compatible kernel (we can help you with that), and flash that. Boot up again, make sure (in your phone's settings) that the kernel flashed successfully, then download a kernel tuning app like TricksterMOD and go into "Screen Wake Settings."
Note: some kernels may use AROMA, which lets you configure dt2w while flashing. The above should still apply if you want to change your settings later on.
Thick's ROM comes with it built in, but most other ROMs don't.
Happy flashing, and remember, ask twice, flash once.
I appreciate it!!
I rooted and played around with different Roms on my previous phones e.g. HTC Hero, NS4g, and Evo4G
but since my HTC one is still being updated via OTA officially I didn't proceed with rooting yet.
I really wanted DT2w feature and I don't think any update would give me that feature so that's why
I am thinking about rooting my phone. I really appreciate your help since you said you can help with
choosing a kernel please go ahead and suggest a good kernel and few feature rich/stable Roms.

I would suggest SD 12 since it's on the latest base (.12, which has some important bug fixes) and it's relatively close to stock.
Along with that, I would suggest using ElementalX 18, which is one of the more easy Kernels to set up. It uses AROMA, so you don't have to download any apps to adjust your settings later. I had a good experience with the battery saving/thermal throttling/undervolting settings (you'll see those come up when you try to flash it). I don't recommend messing with the clock settings, however.
Wipe (default wipe in TWRP), flash ROM, boot, set up, go into recovery, flash kernel, reboot, wait, reboot again. That's the procedure I follow.
I appreciate it!!

Yes you are right I was trying it first on my stock rom which was 4.4.2 if I am not mistaken that was the last official OTA
update for me. I am on SD 12 ROM and EX18 Kernel at the moment and loving it. I tried SlimKat which was not bad but for some reason I couldn't fix the resolution of the screen everything was too small for me (icons, fonts etc). Latest Liquid Smooth didnt recognize my sim card so I had to move away from it. It seems like for now SD12 is going to be my daily driver.
In case if I want to give SlimKat another shot can I use EX18 on it or it's only a sense kernel? also SlimKat is 4.4.4 so what good kernel can you suggest which will give me DT2W option?

Verizon Non Dev Edition Unlocked Bootloader - 5.1.1?

I'm currently on Krypton 1.4 (Kitkat 4.4.4) and this is pretty much stock 4.4.4 with the carrier bloat removed and some additional tweaks. I have not seen 5.1.1 ROM in a similar fashion, am I overlooking something in the development section or since 5.1.1 was recently OTA I need to exercise more patience? Thank you!
There is no VZW 5.x OTA, so that's probably why you've not seen anything. Maybe wait until there is an actual update before asking again?

Exercise more patience.
5.1 is still going through Test Drive and Soak tests, it hasn't been finally pushed yet to anyone... The full push MIGHT happen next week -> https://plus.google.com/+DavidSchuster/posts/ci1UAEv2oYB
I'm not sure how long it will then take to make a custom rom built on 5.1 after it hits our phones. If they'll need to wait for the SBF files, or what...
And since you have a Non-Dev Verizon device, you might want to see -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/lollipop-warning-unlocked-via-sunshine-t3114428 But if you're not planning on taking an OTA, then you should be relatively ok.

How far can i go on my phone?

I have a non dev Moto X from Verizon (XT1060, first gen). It is currently running 4.4.4. What is the most I can do with it? Reading several threads, I am unable to find a conclusive answer regarding this. Looks like sunshine doesn't work nor do most one click tools. My goal is to flash a debloated ROM at the very least if possible.
You won't be able to flash any custom rom without an unlocked bootloader and that's that really. At most you could root(when possible) and manually uninstall bloatwares from the stock rom. I'm glad I had troubles upgrading my phone initially and was able to read about sunshine app on time.
Sent from my XT1060
to the moon and back at least, of course try krypton, or maybe even the modded 5.1 for the 1060, I prefer krypton but the modded 5.1 came a long way quickly I just wasn't feeling the change from simplicity (less options but works perfect for me) of Moto Assist, to the more complex options in LP :/ Check out the respect threads for each rom!
Safestrap only works for 4.4.2 no?
