Good morning folks. I am experiencing trouble sending/receiving MMS. I have tried all the APN settings I have come across and never had them pushed to my device when it was activated. I do not recall always having such difficulty, tho I do remember that some peoples MMS would not come through, while others would. Recently, I have realized that I cannot send or receive any messages. I am using FireKat currently. Think if I reflashed to stock and did the setup process the way cricket describes, I would have the settings pushed? Thanks for your time.
settings from cricket wireless page
Device Requirements
Your device must be unlocked.
You've finished the activation process and inserted your Cricket SIM into your device.
Android Configuration
You should get new Cricket settings automatically pushed to your device after you insert the Cricket SIM, but if for some reason you need the Manual Configuration instructions (also called APN settings) they are listed below.
Tap*Settings > Mobile Networks (or Mobile Data) > Access Point Names > New APN*(may have to tap Menu button to see this option).
Enter the following APN info:
Name: Internet
APN: ndo
Proxy: Not Set
Port: Not Set
Username: Not Set
Password: Not Set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: mmsc.aiowireless.net "add http : // "
MMS Proxy: proxy.aiowireless.net
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 150
Authentication type: Not Set
APN type: default,mms,fota,hipri,supl
Note: on the above APN type be sure to enter it exactly as it is listed& don't include any spaces!
Tap*Save*for the new APN.
Go back one screen to the APN list and tap the dot to enable this APN.
Reboot the device.Test data and MMS.
On our phone you tap settings , connections tab, more networks , mobile networks, Access point names , then tap the + symbol in the upper right corner to add a new APN.
The apn type line is most likely where your errors are but check all the lines of your custom apn for typos.
I was told at"walmart" by a unhelpful salesman that a at&t go phone zte z998 wouldn't send mms on straight talk and it was the apn type line that was the problem not the phone. The problem was just poor documentation. Cricket wireless web page was no better so I cleaned it up for you. Several of the lines were run together on their webpage so you probably have errors in your apn
As far as cricket pushing the correct apn to your phone don't hold your breath. If that was going to work it would have already done so.
Go over your apn again find the typo's correct them and it should all work.
Good luck
dlradlt, thanks!! I'll try these again, tho I have tried then previously. I have an AT&T Phone APN that is not able to be deleted. However, that isn't working for me. Think it has anything to do with the ROM?
settings from cricket wireless page
I doubt its the rom.
Cricket wireless uses at&t so it should work fine. If you're able to make phone calls then it's probably the apn because your already on the network.
I am a month late chiming in but I just wanted to say I have an UNLOCKED Galaxy Note 4 and I am on Cricket .. I used these settings and everything is working perfectly. diane

Do you still need the APNs? I use cricket on my N3 and sending, receiving, and data works.

I use cricket and these are the ones I found on their website, but did not work for me on any device. I finally got sick of losing them every time I flash a new ROM so wrote them down and they are for sure different than these. Also there are 2 separate APNs. One is not selected but needs to be on there or MMS doesn't work.
Note 3 APN

Here you go. The first 2 is the one that is to be selected, the second is needed for mms.

Hi,
I just got my Galaxy S (unlocked - the GTi9000 international model), and am trying to set set up my data plan through Fido (Rogers) in Canada.
They provided me with the following:
APN: wap.fido.ca
IP address: 205.151.011.011
WAP homepage: hypertext transfer protocol: // fido.mobi
un/pwd: fido/fido
APN: internet.fido.ca
un/pwd: fido/fido
Dial-up access: *99#
DNS:
Primary: 204.92.15.211
Secondary: 204.92.15.211
However, I don't know where to enter this information, and since it's not a Fido phone, they can't/won't help me.
When I accessed:
Settings > Wireless & network > Mobile networks > Access Point Names
I tried adding both APNs, as well as un/pwds, but don't know where to add the other info? there's fields for proxy, port, MMSC, MMS proxy, MCC, MNC, APN type, and a bunch of others, but none match up with the info Fido gave me. I tried finding the info in the user guide, but no luck.
Any help or assistance would be really appreciated!!! Thanks!

all the other things like proxy, port, MMSC, MMS proxy, MCC, MNC are not cumpulsary to be filled in atleast in my region.. i think its just required to write NAME, and the APN
for example
NAME:-Idea GPRS
APN :-Internet apndroid
go to this website and get the apn name and the details for ur network provider if ur provider is not mentioned in this list you can get the details at ur network providers web page
http://www.flexispy.com/Mobile APN Setting to use GPRS.htm
that link is pretty outdated
is not showing Bell, Telus, and other ones that are also in GSM offering 3G+
for FIDO these are the settings i'm using

Hey, Does you mms work perfectly using those settings? My 3G connection works perfectly but I can't seem to send any pictures or videos. It just says sending the 3g logo on top blinks for a second and that is it.

Thanks a lot AllGamer, awesome settings. But the funny thing is in your pic it does not show the 3G icon next to the bars. But it worked for me. After entering all your info I pressed on the menu key (left to the Home key) and the option to save it popped up. After that I enabled Data Roaming under Mobile Networks and 3G icon showed up right away. I called Fido to find out if I'm gonna end up with the crazy bill next month and was told that I should be careful if I go to the states. Anywhere in Canada there's no need to worry and as long as I am on Rogers/fido network it does not matter if i
I'm in Vancouver or Ottawa.
How long do these usually take to take affect? I've been trying all night to get one of these to work with my Atrix
MMS not working
I bought a samsung galaxy s that was previously locked to rogers. I unlocked and rooted it and currently run it on MTS (manitoba telecom). I cannot send or receive mms thru texting but everything else seems to work fine. MTS tells me if the data works then mms should work but of course, because it's non-mts equipment, i'm on my own. A friend with the same phone on rogers put his sim card into my phone and mms worked fine. Checked apn settings and they match up with what mts says should work.
Has anyone else had this issue? Is mts sluffing me off or could it be my captivate?
Thanks!
hello guys i seem to have a huge problem
i have a rooted galaxy s2
when i edit the access point name (APN)
and click menu then save .. well it doesnt save the list still says no item !!
please help:S
Ive been trying to use my Captivate with Bell. (Eclair, 2.1-update 1 from Odin)
I found the APN settings on Bell's site and they were forwarded to me by a tech support rep as well. In the "MMSC" box I am instructed to input this:
MMSC: 5778154
<a URL I'm guessing to be a server on the next line>

I'm sorry if it doesnt make a lot of sense but I can't post any links or images. The phone only gives me a one line text box for each value and no enter/return to put an extra line. Ive tried to input one or the other, tried adding spaces, ETC and I can't figure out a way to input this MMSC information. When I asked what the number meant and if it was entirely relevant (I could possibly just use the server?) The girl on the phone just kept saying "we don't support that" over and over again, and kept asking me to call Samsung.
Has anyone else successfully used a Captivate with Bell? If so, what does your APN settings look like? Thank you!

I've been having issues with MMS and downloaded APN Backup and Restore and stupidly accidentally deleted the APN settings without doing a backup. I can't for the life of me find anything about the default settings for a bionic on verizon. I found a couple sites listing verizon settings and have tried adding a new APN with those settings but nothing I do seems to give me 3G/4G back. I'm currently running the latest version of Eclipse. Would flashing back to stock reset the APN settings?
If you have another phone, you could switch to it and reactivate your bionic.
Well i'm about to try resetting to stock and see if that works. I shall try your suggestion if it doesn't.
Won't work...
Hi,
Before you try anything below, I would do a full backup, download the files needed to install Eclipse, do a full factory reset through CWM, and reflash Eclipse. It looks like you were already going to do that, but I just want to clarify that what I suggest below should probably be included in the ROM anyway.
Unfortunately I'm no expert at this, so this comes with the disclaimer that it may not work. I recommend you do a full phone backup and a backup from "APN Backup and Restore" before trying this, although I see no reason why it should be harmful. At worst it just probably wont improve anything... Of course I'm not at fault if this doesn't work or messes things up. All these settings were collected from my phone. My research into this suggests they are not phone specific ( I have a Droid Bionic too though, just to clarify ) , but instead carrier-specific.
There's an application in the market called "APN Manager", start by downloading that, it's free.
Open the app ( shouldn't require superuser ) and go to "APN List" in the bottom menu, open it, scroll down to "Verizon Internet" (there's 2 of them, do one then the other) and open it ( long press, and select edit ). If it doesn't have the settings below, change them to those. If it doesn't exist, go to the "Insert APN" option in the application's root, name it "Verizon Internet" (without quotes) and enter the following (The entry is listed first then the value, the settings are listed in the order I see them, leave anything that's unlisted blank, there's no spaces in any of the values. I put some spaces in the MMSCs because they register as urls to XDA and I've only done one previous post so I can't put urls. For the same reason, you'll have to replace "(colon)" with a ":" and "(dot)" with a ".". Sorry for the inconvenience. ):
Create/modify the first entry titled "Verizon Internet"
APN: VZINTERNET
MMSC: http(colon)// mms(dot) vtext(dot) com /servlets/ mms
MCC: 310
MNC: 004
APN Type: default,mms,dun
Next create/modify the second entry titled "Verizon Internet"
APN: VZINTERNET
MMSC: http(colon)// mms(dot) vtext(dot) com/ servlets/ mms
MCC: 311
MNC: 480
APN Type: default,mms,dun
Next create/modify the first entry titled "Verizon IMS"
APN: VZWIMS
MCC: 310
MNC: 004
APN Type: ims
Next create/modify the second entry titled "Verizon IMS"
APN: VZWIMS
MCC: 311
MNC: 480
APN Type: ims
Next create/modify the first entry titled "Verizon FOTA"
APN: VZWADMIN
MCC: 310
MNC: 004
APN Type: fota
Next create/modify the second entry titled "Verizon FOTA"
APN: VZWADMIN
MCC: 311
MNC: 480
APN Type: fota
Next create/modify the first entry titled "Verizon CBS"
APN: VZWAPP
MMSC: http(colon)// mms(dot) vtext(dot) com/ servlets/ mms
MMC: 310
MNC 004
APN Type: cbs,hipri
Next create/modify the first entry titled "Verizon CBS"
APN: VZWAPP
MMSC: http(colon)// mms(dot) vtext(dot) com/ servlets/ mms
MCC: 311
MNC: 480
APN Type: cbs,hipri
Next, enable only the second "Verizon Internet" entry you put in by going to the APN list in the app and tapping it.
Next I would enable airplane mode, wait for it to show up in the notification bar, then disable it. If that doesn't work, I would reboot. If that still doesn't work, I would dial *228 and try to re-activate your phone.
These settings seem to work for me. Hopefully they work for you. Again I'm not an expert with APN settings, but I've spent a good 3 hours researching this... This would seem to be all that needs to be set for APN to work. Again given where these settings are placed ( /data /data / com. android .providers .telephony /databases /telephony.db , without spaces) and that they seem to be carrier specific, not phone specific, all indications are that these should be in your ROMs .zip file, so formatting and reflashing that may be a better idea.
I'm happy to do research into this more if it helps, so if I completely looked over something please just let me know and I can look into it.
Good luck,
jedi453
Note: I apologize to the mods if putting in links as done above is considered wrong. I just spent hours researching and typing this post and since the urls aren't spamming I figure it's ok
Thanks, jedi453!
You saved my life by pointing me in the right direction. The APN list on my Bionic got whacked by a poorly-behaved app, and it completely trashed all my network connections - no mobile data, no MMS send/receive, etc.
I used a slightly different method to restore the default APN list. Luckily, my wife & I have his 'n hers Bionics. First, I installed APN Backup & Restore on both phones. Then I did an APN list backup on my wife's phone, transferred the XML backup file to the proper folder on my phone, and then restored my APN list from that file. Reboot...Voila... all my network connections are working again.
The Verizon entries mentioned in your post are 100% correct, but my method required a lot less typing & editing.
In case anyone else needs to do the same thing, I've attached a copy of the Bionic's default APN list in XML format.
NOTE: this XML backup file is for use with APN Backup & Restore, not the APN Manager app mentioned in jedi's post.
Hi, I have tethering (wifi hotspot) problem since jelly bean update, it can connect device through desire connection but Internet would stop right away.
But hey, I fixed it, if you have this problem, you can have a look.
Some TXs have no problem at all, I don't know why I have this problem and many people have problem too on talksony forum.
Mine TX is from china, B screen, now on 1.67 HK.
On ICS, there is no problem but I as soon as I update to JB, tethering stopped.
One thing I noticed is in JB, it comes with a new apn that can not be selected, called "xxx tethering"
(xxx means ISP name, on mine is Rogers tethering, another forum member has "Fido tethering", but he doesn't have tethering problem even tho Rogers and fido are on exact same network with exact same apn setting)
"Rogers-core-appl1.apn vs fido-core-appl1.apn"
If you have this tethering apn, you can modify it to the apn setting that you are using, which is APN, username & password if applicable, and leave everything else blank or default.
In my case, I only modify APN from isp.apn (default) to Rogers-core-appl1.apn, and this is the only field that I need to get internet with my created APN. The important thing is APN type should be DUN and don't change it.
As a result, you have two APN, 1. NEW APN you created to get Internet works and can be selected. 2. Xxx tethering apn with modified setting same as the one you created and can't be selected.
Now, test your tethering with a simple SSID WITHOUT WEP/WPA2. If it works, that you could kindly modify the SSID with security. Yeah.
If you don't have tethering apn at default or you delete it, then you can not have it back until you restore your TX back to factory condition by either flastools, SUS or PCC.

The second is the one you are looking for to fix tethering,
1.You can see that the APN can not be selected (no blue dot/blank).
2.Originally it has isp.apn as the APN address. Now i changed it to the same as my internet APN.
3.It is not normal APN, you can not create one to pretend it is the one.
How does it happen? No idea, some say it could be the firmware detect your sim card and create one at first boot, so this APN works as a bridge at all time with user created APN, hence no option to select it nor deselect it.
Where can you find it?
Everytime i flash 1.67 (i use HK), it will be presented there in APN setting.
I deleted it and it will not come back unless I flash/restore back to factory.
From my research, this affected to SOME carriers even in Europe, the APN appeared with the name of the carrier, and it is not limited to TX only and i found this solution from talk.sonymobile forum.
For me, it's like creating APN for mms -_-
I never heard about thetering APN, since thetering use normal APN
If your APN cannot be selected, it's because this APN normally cannot use as ID to connect data to provider, in example MMS APN
Correct me if I'm wrong
I reported this thread to the mods to move it from the Q&A to the general section because your original post was neither a question or an answer but it is a guide or tutorial which belong in the general section

You are right, I just setup a mms apn and it can't be selected.
But I tried to create the tethering apn by replicate the setting, but unlike mms one, it can be select.
It doesn't work because the APN Protocol and APN Roaming Protocol on tethering apn is "Not Set". (user created apn has to be ipv4/ipv6)
The key setting for tethering apn is your normal internet setting+ APN type "DUN"+ APN Protocol and APN Roaming "Not Set".
If we can find a way to get this setup, then we are good to go.
Sent from my LT29i using xda app-developers app
The funny thing is that the Fido tethering apn appears automatically, unlike the regular apn that needs to be manually added and configure. However, it's not like it will automatically switch to that "tethering apn" either, so I don't get what's the point of it being there anyways.
I don't get why you need to set the apn type though...I know the tethering apn is set to DUN, but normal apn does not require to set anything other than these following steps from Fido themselves:
"APN Settings:
APN: Fido-core-appl1.apn
If you have a LTE device, use the following setting: LTEMOBILE.APN
MMS (Picture & Video Messaging Settings):
MMSC: http://mms.fido.ca
MMS Proxy: 205.151.11.13
MMS Port: 80
Leave the following fields blank: Proxy, Port, User Name, Password, Server
Press the options button on your device, tap on Save in order to save the APN settings."
I didn't set apn type on regular apn, I leave it blank.
I didnt understand either as yours doesn't need to set anything but mine has to rely on tethering apn.
So, my current setup is
Rogers: rogers-core-appl1.apn,
others leave as is or blank.
Rogers tethering:
Rogers-core-appl1.apn
APN type: DUN (default)
APN protocol: not set.(default)
Sent from my LT29i using xda app-developers app
@maxboy
so what you do, it's just change APN type to DUN, right ?
and other value can be set as like default APN ?
or you made some more change ?
My APN list just for internet and MMS
MMS APN set by provider default
And for internet APN, I just fill APN name and APN box
And the rest, I just leave it default
The internet and mms apn set as Carrier. Recommended setting. Refer to your carrier.
The tethering apn modifies to match your internet apn setting.
Except for APN type as "DUN" and APN (/roaming)protocol as "Not set".
By default, tethering apn should have "DUN" and "Not set" so you just don't touch them.
Again, You can not create tethering apn, it has to be the one that created by system and appear after flash/restore back to factory.

Have been having as issue where MMS messages occasionally won't download, resulting in a missed message altogether. If I have a group chat, the message will appear in a seperate message from that particular person, never able to download. I've tried the stock app as well as hangouts... Still having issues. Anyone else?

I have that issue occasionally and a reboot solves it usually

There are a few threads about this. I ultimately stopped using my G4 because of it because I miss about half the messages I'm sent from group chats. Occasionally a reboot would help but ultimately it just stops working. As much as I wanted to love my G4 this was the final straw :/

Anyone try changing APN to epc.tmobile.com? Just changed this myself, going to test it out
Yep

Tried it. Called T-Mobile. Went through all their troubleshooting stuff. They reset my line, nope. I just use Google Hangouts now.

Hangouts won't fix it
It's the g4 stock messenger app. I had this problem on my g3. Your better off using Google Messenger.

I'm on AT&T so I don't know if this helps. I have the same problem and after much research, I've narrowed it down to adblock plus blocking the MMS port. For AT&T I just have to change the MMS port from port 80 to port 8080.
MMS Solution!
Hey guys. This is a known problem with T-Mobile. So I did some research today and it's some sort of WiFi conflict. Anyway, I downloaded Textra which has a setting to fix it! Boom no more issues Also, Textra has a setting to block the StageFright vulnerability.
Another solution
Nothing here solved my problem. I found something that worked on the T-Mobile support site (thread/130115) posted by 1-800-gio.
Delete existing APNs and create one with the following settings:
Name: T-Mobile US LTE
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: Not Set (leave blank)
Port: Not set (leave blank)
Username: Not Set (leave blank)
Password: Not set (leave blank)
Server: Not set (leave blank)
***I CAN'T POST A URL, SO MAKE THE APPROPRIATE REPLACEMENTS BELOW***
MMSC : http[colon]//mms.msg.eng.t-mobile[dot]com/mms/wapenc
Multimedia message Proxy: Not set (leave blank)
Multimedia message Port : Not set (leave blank)
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type : None
***NOW THIS HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART I HAVE FOUND THAT WORKS. ADD IT EXACTLY LIKE BELOW, NO SPACES****
APN type: default,mms,supl,hipri,admin,mobile
APN Protocol : ipv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol : IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
Mobile virtual network operator type: None
Remember to press the menu button and click save.
All I did was turn airplane mode on- turn off screen- turn screen on - turn airplane mode bak off -turn off screen - turn screen bak on boom!! Done
Hit thnx if this helpd
