[Q&A] CM11 Nightly Discussion - Asus Transformer TF701

Q&A for CM11 Nightly Discussion
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for CM11 Nightly Discussion. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

Thanks for great ROM, everything works fine with my TF701.
I have one question - does this build supports F2FS filesystem?
I see that mkfs.f2fs is available, and I can use to to format microSD card ("mkfs.f2fs /dev/block/mmcblk1"). But device is not mounting it. Not though settings, not manually by using "mount -t f2fs /dev/block/mmcblk1 /some/path" command.

What is the status of support for screen casting/Miracast? I have an ASUS Miracast dongle that works great with the ASUS ROM on the tf701, but won't show any devices on CM11.

Doubts
Hello people.
Which option is better, more updated drivers, more stable, etc.

Thanks

I've noticed that SD card (not micro, but regular one) is mounting under /storage/USBdisk1h folder. I find that strange, because there is also /storage/SD folder.
I see that there is /fstab.macallan file with list of some mount points and I guess usb device paths, but I can not change it - when I remount / filesystem and change the file, it reverts after reboot.
Can that be changed somewhere else or fixed differently?
Here's output from "mount", "cat /fstab.macallan" and "lsusb" commands:

Bluetooth Tethering to a Phone.
Hello Everyone.
I have just started using this Firmware with my tablet.
My issue is just the implementation of the Internet Protocol on bluetooth connections. I have no problem pairing the Tablet with my phone (OMATE-Truesmart).
But when I go to select what I am sharing I only see the "Media audio" profile, and not the internet sharing. I can tether with Wifi, and haven for a short time. BUT my phone/watch does not have a high power battery. And thats why in the apsty I have exclusively used Bluetooth tethering with this tablet. (On stock firmware.).
thanks.
UPDATE:
this was witnessed with version. cm-11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-tf701t. I have since switched to cm-11-20141118-NIGHTLY-tf701t and the Internet option shows up on the bluetooth phone profile in the bluetooth manager.

problem dock
I isntalled cm 11 version 11-20141204-nightly-tf701t. I insert yhe dock but it is not detect. Some ideas? I had control in the settings but i cant find setting for dock. Help me please....
SOLVED!!!

Battery
I'm on latest 06-14 nightly. Found this bug.

Hello, I'm trying to get a hold of a source file from CM11 for this device. I need to get the graphics.c iirc file? I know that its not in the rom or device itself, however it should be under bootable/recovery/minui/graphics.c. If someone could post the file i would be most appreciative Thanks in advance.

[Q] Mount /system in R/W

Root Explorer is unable to re-mount /system in R/W. The button simply does nothing when I press it. I am also unable to update AdFree, which re-writes the hosts file in /system. Anything I can do to remedy this?
stupid question, but I have to ask: are you rooted?

Try backing all the way out of the folder by pressing the (...) button at the top. Keep pressing that until you are at the root folder (it won't be there anymore). Now press the r/w button at the top. It should change, and will stay changed once you go back into the other folders.
Sorry, it was early, and my brain wasn't good for specifics. I am rooted, running SRE 1.2.
Root is mounted R/W, but /system will not change state. Is there anything I can try from the terminal?
Same problem here on my wife's Captivate. I used SRE 1.2.1a and noticed that I was still seeing ads. So I tried installing Adfree and updating the host file and ran into the same mounting error.
On my own Captivate, I had used 1-Click root before SRE came out and no problems updating there.
same here no ADFREE in SREv2b7. I tried R/W on Root explorer and even trying to change permissions on sys, system, data/data, and still get same error as you guys re-mount /system.
Let's see where /system is mounted:
Code:
C:\Program Files\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb shell
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
$ mount

At this point, we can see that /system is mounted at /dev/block/stl9. With that knowledge:
Code:

Now your free to do whatever it is you were trying to do. When you're done, don't forget to:

Didn't work for me either--still got the "failed to mount read-only file system" or something like that. Also, when I tried the "-o remount,ro" adb said device or resource busy. I'm pretty sure this has been discussed in the SRE thread, but i really, really, want adree to work

this belongs more in the development section then general. you might get a faster response their with users who know what any of that means. Personally you lost me at mount
@somboons i don't know if that was the question, but that's simply a summary of the volumes of your Android OS.
there you'll find information about the volumes, mount points, access permissions, so on and so forth (just like in Linux/Unix).

I need to backup my rom with tar/md5 format and flash by odin.but I don't know what device I should to packging? or what device should packaging to Bootloader,PDA, CSC,MODEM or pit file ?
I know about "mount" command in android .it's showing device that mount with mobile.
Not sure what you're trying to do. why not backup with CWM recovery?
cause CWM can not backup csc and baseband

Trying to help devs

I'm new here and have no rights to post in dev section.
I have tried many possible tools and tips for getting root on o4x... No success yet..
But I found out that SupeOneClick tool could write on some sections on /data.
The main problem remains that we couldn't get WRITE access to /system section.
I'm not expert on Linux but I let run some scripts on /system/bin and /root... Till now unfortunately no success.
I found interesting scripts for FOTA like lgdms.fota_update.rc.
As I see our system path is /dev/block/Platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/APP /system
can someone of devs confirm that?
That would mean all other tools trying to gain access with "mount -o remount,rw -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p33 /system"
will not help us anyway.. Or I'm wrong?
cat /proc/mounts cmd brings me no other /system path...

So I found a complete dump of /system... Thats fine.
Maybe there would be something that would help to gain write access to /system.

[Q&A] Read-Only Filesystem?

Q&A for Read-Only Filesystem?
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for Read-Only Filesystem?. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
adb mount problems with read only, need read/write
cbstryker said:
Maybe you're typing it in too literally. It should actually read like this:
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
There was a typo with -oremount, there should be a space after -o.
Hope that helps.
PS. That command worked for me on a device where everything else failed.

Ok, when I type just "mount" in, I get this long string of info back:
mount

but when I try typing the command in that is given in above posts, get this:
1|[email protected]:/ # mount -0 remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock3/system
mount -0 remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock3/system
unknown option -- 0mount: invalid option -0
adb remount gets this:
[email protected]:/ # adb remount
adb remount
error: device not found
Any help with this is much appreciated..
Thanks,

Is external SD read/write being blocked why I can't move apps to the SD card?

Whenever I try and move an app to the SD card from Manage Applications it says not enough storage space, even though it has plenty of space. Is read/write being disabled in 5.0.1. doing that? Seems likely, just since it's not saying access denied etc figured I'd check if I wasn't hitting some other issue.

if you have a spare SD card i'd copy all the data to Your computer and
try a different SD card
if this does not work you have a bad tablet and need to return it

on 5.0.0 not all apps move to sd for me. I dont understand how the 5.0.1 update changes sd cards but it is aparently meant to stop apps writing to the sd card
i can only move apps to SD if its formated vFat (Fat32). (same for anything applied by the Android 5 SD-permission system)
it doesn´t seem to work on exFat, ext3, ext4

That's weird, how do you know the format of the card once it's inserted into the device? Or do you format fat32 before installing?

you can check the format with me.kuder.diskinfo app (cannot post link as a new user) for instance.
i format the cards on my workstation.
the Fire (5.0.1) formats cards as exFat as far as i remember,
so you cannot select them in the android 5 write permission choser.
just wondering if anyone has figured out these issues,i want to mount my sdcard as rw ext4 preferably to bypass the filesize limitations of fat filesystem. I have reformatted to ext4 and it says "Unformatted SD Card". but i pushed cancel, and entered...
