I promise you guys I have searched and searched and searched!
I bought an aftermarket data/charging cable for my Galaxy 7 tab. When it arrived, I tested it with the Samsung wall wort and as a connection cable to my PC. All worked fine. I left to go out of town and forgot the wall wort. I used the original and aftermarket cable to trickle charge via USB on a laptop and via USB on a car charger. It did the trickle charge thing and that was it.
Now, I'm home and my wall wort won't fast charge and the device is not being recognized by my PC.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for trying to help!
I do have the original Samsung charger and cable and they won't do anything other than a trickle charge now, and my Windows 7 PC no longer recognizes the TAb... so sadly my issue is still not resolved.
I am thinking of getting this tab to replace my acer a510.
Just wondering i think i read you can only charge using acer special cable??
Does this tablet have a usb/micro usb that can trickle charge while screen is off/asleep
example my a510 can trickle charge slowly if i hook up a usb to it, but only when the screen is off.
Acer use their own special usb plug to charge normally.
I want to use this for long traveling etc and only want to use a micro or usb from the car to get some juice into it.
I don't know. On the TF700 it was possible but on the TF701 I don't know but also didn't try it.
But I think when connecting the charging cable only to the tablet it will charge with any 5V usb charger but just very slow.

You need the special cable to charge, but you can use it to trickle charge from a PC or (presumably) a car USB charger with the screen off. Fast charging requires using the special cable with the Asus mains adapter.

That is because the AC plug of the TF701 charges either with 15V/1,2Amps or 5V/2Amps, while a normal USB 2.0 hub is limited to 0,5Amps (USB 3.0 to 0,8Amps). If you have a vehicle charger with USB slot the charging speed depends on the max. current it can supply .
And also: there is no micro usb slot on the tablet or the dock.
btw: What Acer did really sucks, because they just switched + with Data+ and GND with DATA-GND from the USB pinning, so you _need_ the original Acer charging cable. (My brother has the A511,where i already repaired the cable once due to lead fracture)

Hello!
Today I (Finally) received my USB OTG Y cable! I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 4G (I9305) and i bought the cable because the ebay site said it was for s3. I was really happy when i got it and plugged my usb memory stick into it. It all worked good. Then I plugged in the charger (to the female micro usb) and it didnt start charging. I wasn't happy anymore. Then i started to researh a little. I found out that my phone doesnt support USB host mode and charging at the same time ( ). So im just asking, is there a way to make my phone charge when i use the OTG cable without any hardware modifying? Can I just likes install a custom kernel that supports OTg charging? Or just make my phone think its docced when i use that cable (I thought that may work)?
Btw im running android 4.4.4 stock rom and stock kernel. Thanks for any help.
And here is a picture of the cable. Down there ⬇
Does anyone know of a way to have OTG and charging at the same time? I know you can use wireless charging and otg at the same time, I'd like to know if it can all be done through usb.

I have that exact cable. It only Powers the peripheral device. From what I can gather it's a software thing with the gs6, but I have such a small understanding of this kind of stuff.
It should be possible, I believe they had a docking station with a USB port that worked the way you're thinking

It was for the S4, but the reason it shouldn't work for the S6 is that the S6 no longer uses the micro-usb/MDL plug. Just saying that it should be possible to power the phone and do OTG

anyone knows if Marshmallow Android 6 new kernel supports charge phone over OTG cable for Galaxy S6 Edge?
Lava OTG charger, 40 bucks and works a couple times. Lol I'm seriously about ready to throw all my devices.
I bought this cable: http://www.amazon.com/Micro-Cable-Player-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B00CXAC1ZW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453677269&sr=8-1&keywords=otg+charging+cable and it works fine with my friends Windows Phone, i.e harddrive connects and the phone charges, but on my S6 it doesn't charge at all. Is this a wiring issue with the S6 or some software restriction?

did you ever find a solution - having same problem OTG cable working on other android devices but not my T-mobile S6 with broken touch screen
I know I'm late on this, but I have an S6 around and I'm trying to make other uses out of it, however I have struggled with this with everything I've done.
I haven't solved this, but today I came with an idea that may help some people, at least it seems it will work for me.
Ok, we cannot charge through the usb while using OTG, but we can charge through wireless and use OTG at the same time.
I have tested this with a cheap wireless base and I have plugged to the OTG first a powered usb hub and of course the phone was charging without problems. Then removed the hub and plugged a USB micro SD reader with a card directly to the OTG cable, it also continued to charge, it has charged to 100% with that plugged on.
Hope it helps.
Regards.
Hi all,
I have an XZ1 compact (Model G8441 non-root) that I'm very happy with, but I can't get it to charge wirelessly.
I bought an adapter with a USB-C plug and it worked to charge the phone at first, but it suddenly stopped working after a few charges.
I figured I had a fault with either the wireless receiver that plugs into the phone or the charger pad.
I tested the receiver via a micro-USB adapter on my old Z5 compact and it charges fine. I also bought another charger pad, and it also won't work on this phone.
When the phone is on the charger pad, the indicator on the pad recognises that something is there and goes from green to blinking red as if charging, but nothing happens on the phone.
If the phone is completely switched off, all I get is a blinking green LED on the phone.
I've tried it with the case on and off.
There have been three updates since I got the phone a few weeks ago. Is it possible that an Oreo software update has broken the low power charging somehow?
Obviously I've rebooted the phone, but I haven't done a factory reset.
I'd appreciate any help you could offer.
You could indeed try downgrading the phone to determine if it's a firmware/software issue or a hardware issue.

I'm confused. The XZ1 Compact doesn't have wireless charging. What did you buy to wirelessly charge it? Something that plugs into the USB port and then sits on a wireless charger?

Yes, I bought a wireless adapter with a USB-C plug that connects to the phone & lays against the back of the phone inside the case. You then place it on a wireless charging pad.
I've done the same thing with several other phones & never had a problem.
Didn't see it explicitly mentioned, did you try using a different USB-C adapter cable? Since the micro USB cable works, we can safely assume the pad's fine. But I didn't see you cross test another type c cable.
Solved
Hi all,
I managed to fix the problem by replacing the QI receiver attached to the phone with a new one.
Strange that the old one worked if I connected it to a different phone via an adapter (and that it worked to begin with on my phone).
It must have had a problem where it couldn't output enough voltage to charge my new phone, but had enough to charge the old one.
Thanks for your help.

What I had changed was the charger pad. I tried two different ones, a USB-C powered one and a micro USB powered one. Neither worked.
I have a new QI receiver on order.
