Light in speaker?

Hey. I recently got the diamond and have been wondering if the small block on the left hand side of the speaker grill on the front is a light or a light sensor?
Having previously had devices which flash lights to tell you the bluetooth is on and stuff i expected the diamond to have it but it doesnt light up or flash or anything so im wondering if it should but is broken...
Thanks
Graham

haha yeah i was wondering the same thing, but yeah it is indeed a light SENSOR, you can test it quite easily by sticking the phone in bright light, you will see the screen is bright, then put you finger over the bit of transparent plastic in question and you will see the screen dim slightly (because it thinks you are now in a dark setting) so yeah, good call on guessing light sensor.

Thanks guys
Almost had a panic attack that it might have been a fault on the phone...
Does seem odd there is no service notification without turning screen on.
Cheers.
Of course there is ... there is flash around your circle pad ... didn`t notice that ?
It's a light sensor.
The only light indicator is the white circle around the "enter" button.
Bye

Did HTC swap the status led for the light sensor? or O2?

Hi as the title really, had my xda ignito since monday and have noticed that it doesn't have a status led (flashing led when bluetooth/wifi, charging etc) instead in the earpiece speaker hole is the light sensor for screen illumination where the led would be.
Is the led not on original diamonds or did O2 take it out?
Well, mine is a HTC unbranded phone and it didnt have any status led anywhere. As you say there is only one little light sensor. This is normal.
Best regards.
Diamond and Touch Pro don't have a LED there, just the sensor.
They have four signal LEDs behind the action button though.
thanks for sorting that one.

[MOD] Disable the Capacitive LEDs on I9000 during the daytime

Hello Folks,
I just saw an HTC Wildfire which turns off the Capacitive buttons based on the light detected by the Light Sensor. This is often useful because at the daytime when we are outdoors, the light from the Capacitive Menu and Back buttons are barely visible and not quite useful.
It would be nice if some Developer comes forward to make a Modification which will turn off the LEDs when there is bright surrounding light and Turn it ON when its darker. It would save a lot of battery I suppose.
Inputs are Welcome.
Thanks!

Poor Brightness levels of capacitive buttons

Hi all!
I know this isnt that big a deal, but the capacitive backlights look weak and dim.
Screen brightness setting doesnt increase these lights at all.
Im use to the really bright "white" lights from my older Galaxy I
Is there a way to adjust these to be brighter? Thanks!!
anyone have the same problem?
Mine are not super bright, but they are not too dim either. I would prefer to have them darker anyway due to how bright the ones on my Galaxy S 4g were at night.
Mine are the same way.. Very dim compared to my Skyrocket I had. My home button is actually a little dimmer than the other 3. It bothers me a little bit. Not sure if I should take it back for this. Other than that its flawless..Just got it today.. from AT&T corporate store in Daytona. But I think it was the only White one in stock..

[Q] Can you turn off capacitive buttons at night?

Is it possible to turn off the Home and Back capacitive buttons when it is dark? When watching media it is annoying that they stay on. I am grateful for any help on this problem.
