Please increase bezel size in Note 5 - Galaxy Note 4 General

Bezel too thin these days, I can not swipe notification bar when landscape mode when I have UAG case on. Please increase the bezel size.

Everyone going for thinner bezel and you need bigger... Should not happen it looks better this way

I have large hand and with this thin bezel I do find that I sometimes touch the far edge of the screen inadvertently. So there is an argument for a larger bezel.

The bezel was reduced to allow a larger screen without a huge form factor to better fit in your pocket/hand. Some cases don't work great with the fingerprint scanner. It's all about trial and error.

No thanks.

No, don't do that. Society has finally realized the bezel is overrated.

More bezzle? Sounds like a fail LOL.
Me and im pretty sure most of the market is shooting for smaller and less bezzle.
Look at the LG G3 for example. Such a large screen but the phone itself is small.
Small bezzle is the future. Simple as that. Im also sure thats where manufatureres are headed.

The problem is your case, not the phone!
Regards,
Dave

Yes indeed, u r probably the only person who would ask for more bezel. Get a different case

I will tell Samsung CEO about your troubles an be sure they make the changes foe you on Note 5.
Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

Make sure to tell Boo-Keun Yoon I don't want any bezel.... the whole phone should be a dsiplay; like the edge but on all sides.

I think what you are after is an edge that doesn't pass/protrude from the screen. But then it won't protect it either.

i might finally get a good screen protector.
Seriously,
Will you need a screen protector for this phone?
Im changing from an iphone 4 and my sons (iphone 4) if full of scratches.
Ive never used a pda or smartphone without a protector (martin fields) yet, will I be safe to exclude one with the note?
I've had my Captivate (with gorilla glass) for over a year and there isn't a scratch on it. I am careful, however, the glass is pretty durable. I've never liked screen protectors, they always degrade the view of the screen somewhat. Yes, I've always purchased quality screen protectors, that isn't the problem

Well, think about this - will you actually be using the stylus all the time? I'm still going to be using my finger for most things, unless I really want to make precise lines, write, etc. I'm not going to color or paint, that isn't something I'd do, but write lists, perhaps...that's about it. So, if it only comes out occasionally, then I don't see the issue. It is glass, after all, not a soft material like my old Palm unit - I wore out the upper corners playing solitaire
I've had my Dell Streak for over a year. First 3 month, kept a screen protector on it, but I took it off and have been screen protector free since. In and out of a pouch dozens of times a day, not one scratch. If it has gorilla glass, don't worry about it unless you use a diamond tip

If you're pressing hard enough to make noise, I actually wonder if the screen is going to break the stylus. The tip looks like it's made of plastic.
Slightly off topic, if you write a lot it might be worth getting a screen protector so the surface has more friction. I used to stick scotch tape to my palm so the stylus felt more like a pencil.
- Frank
Back in the days of the windows tablet (yes long before the iPad) I had an Acer that I could only operate with a stylus. A wacom stylus, with the same tip as the one that comes with the Note. I used it for years on a day to day basis and even used a writing to text input. Not a scratch! And this was without a screen protector.
Because the Note has a (gorilla) glass screen (in contrast to the Acer which had some kind of plastic screen) it didn't even come to my mind that I could ever scratch the Note screen with the stylus.

Case with no access to gaming controls?

Probably an odd question but does anyone know where i can get a case for my xperia case which stops it from sliding open, so i would have to remove it from the case to play games?
The reason for me wanting this is my hinge is a little wobbly after some good use for almost a year and i don't use the gaming controls so much now and just want to use it as a phone but it makes typing pretty hard as the screen rocks back and makes it hard to type sometimes unless you hold the screen down.
Please help me enjoy typing again!

Well good luck with that. We all have been using the Play with that wobble since the beginning, anyway.

Try duck tape.
(colored to match your favorite case!)
You can also try small and wide rubberband and hold it from the top area where "Sony Ericcson" is, just near the top edge of the screen, I tried it on mine and the sliding is resistive. I do not have a second rubberband but that would go between the bottom edge of screen and the buttons
I know it's a bit late, but you could probably try a Neo L case as it has a similar shape. but you might have to remove the battery cover to fit it, but I'm not sure.

Does anyone else find the rough edges a bit annoying in daily use?

Don't get me wrong, I really like the design (though I kinda miss the awesome looking back cover of N4 and the phone reminds me of current Xperia design a bit too much) but the rough edges make it harder to put inside my pocket, as well as make phone calls a bit painful to my ear.

I don't get how the edges make it hard for you to put the phone in your pocket. Do you wear skinny jeans? The edges aren't flush or tapered like how it was on my Nexus 4 but it isn't anything terrible. I do admit I wish they were tapered though.

I like the sharper edge, it's part of the package that makes this phone feel awesome in the hand. I really don't know how it affects putting it in your pocket though...

I can see where you're coming from. I came from a VZW GNex too, and the edges are a bit more pronounced than the rounded feel of the GNex. But I, personally, dig it. Plus, I have it in Diztronic TPU case anyways, so they are not as "sharp" as they are without the case.
Sent from my TouchPad using xda app-developers app
yes edges are really sharp for me too, but i have a case which helps a lot
The same here. This is probably the one and only "negative" thing (really minor) about this device I noticed.
When making a phone call, I can clearly feel the sharp edge cutting through my ear (exaggeratedly speaking).
A bit unpleasant, but can be easily avoided by not pushing a phone against the ear too much.
(owning white version)
If I "roll" my thumb over the side of the phone in normal use (pretend you were "swiping out" from the middle of the screen until your thumb totally leaves the surface), I can feel the edge of the plastic housing sticking up just a tiny fraction of a millimeter above the glass.
I'm assuming everybody has this? For me, it's the only thing about the whole device that doesn't feel "premium". I come from a Galaxy S2, so in a way it's better (the S2 edges had a chrome plating that chipped off, which felt gross) but in a way it's worse (at least they were never "sharp"). I figure I'll get used to it, and maybe they'll wear a bit smoother with use.

Note 4 chrome finish fine scratches

I'm not using a case and once you use cases, the chrome tends to get scratched up pretty bad.
How do you guys prevent it?
Can I buy a new body like I usually do with a note 2?
How do you fix the scratches? Visible in light but not dim light

Yes but not to the chrome finish on the corners

This is Exactly what I'm worried about. No matter what you phone is, inside a case, it will get the small scratches due to dust and particles collecting inside the case. Those dust and particles will always be rubbing on your phone, rear and the metal/chrome. I guess this is not something you can avoid unless you go butt naked lol. Ah, what to do.

If you look at your USB 2.0 port, you'll see white around the edges....wonder if that's painted ceramic white?
I think our frame is both aluminum and magnesium.

Zaggs tempered glass revision 2 has been on the money. I've placed this thing on twice. Once when I got it and, the second time, I removed it from my old unit after a screen burn-in replacement, and place it onto my new unit. No air bubbles and the glass feels high quality, comparable to Whitestone sans the complex installation. It sits on the screen only slightly curving to the edge, and it does sit flush without interfering with the edge tab if I choose to use it. It is quite expensive ($50) but imho, it's quite worth it after successful installation. Highly recommend it!

While I agree with you that it goes on nicely you didn't mention that since it doesn't cover as much screen as other protectors and also has black side bars you get a weird effect where there's screen, black bar, rest of the screen which is quite annoying.

yes there are black borders around SP which the top and bottom part aligns with the phone borders, so no issues there. Depending on an individual's taste, the side borders may be of concern. However, I made no mention of any weird effects as a result from the blk borders and / or the edges not being fully covered because I haven't experienced any negative effects thru general use of the phone. I must also mention, that in some apps, i.e. flipboard the first letters of words that display close to the edge of the screen may be partially blocked by the SP borders. But for me that's not a problem, as i don't experience this issue with most of the apps I use on a daily basis.

i have tried these, good product in terms of clarity and touch sensitivity. the issue i had was that the vertical edges would easily crack with a bit of pressure as they dont seat on the screen as well as they should.
my current solution for using these is to remove the adhesive backing and reapply with loca adhesiveand cure with uv light.

Tested these a month ago. Cracked two working out bubbles. Glass quality is very bad. One cracked on the right side. The other on the bottom using a fingernail to work out a bubble. No chance that this is good 9h tempered glass. Opened a dispute and got both refunded. My opinion, not recommended.
Not recommended too, to narrow, covering edges with black bars completely.

ok so i purchased one and it arrived yesterday
while applying it i got some dust stuck under the protector, tried to take it out but it wouldnt move
applied it anyway and its pretty good except for the air bubbles near the curved sides of the screen (and the dust particles)
the protector is really fragile too, it chipped and cracked a corner while working out the bubbles - others have complained that theirs cracked for no reason
other than that it actually feels amazing and is compatible with the ringke fusion
ive contacted support, hopefully theyll send me out a new one
I wonder why they disabled comments in their video?
What's the best between this one and Dome Glas ?
I don't like the cut around speaker - face camera ...
A real full cover for front face is the most beautiful but may be not very good for quality of face camera ???
