did you shoot DNG's and then edit them, or the photos from the new app are jpg from the app itself ?
I don't found settings to choose JPG or DNG so I don't know but there are the original shoots, I don't made any change

I think the app converts them to jpeg.. If u look on the folder, u can see both dng and jpeg files... But what the gallery shows u is the jpeg file not dng

Thanks. I thought there was an option to choose in settings between the 2.
I had to revert to 4.4.4 due to some radio issues, so i was not able to try the app.
i'm actually impressed with the outcome of this app.

shoot in 4:3 and crop your photo manually
There is an option for 16:9 in the resolution settings, but as rayiskon said, 16:9 mode just crops the 4:3 picture down to a 6 megapixel 16:9 image. Why not do it yourself, to fit the needs of each individual picture?
I am impressed with the pictures I've taken so far, I didn't expect the camera to perform better with Lollipop. It's a nice surprise =D

Really impressive what this app is doing / what this phone has been capable of...
Sorry for maybe stupid question, but how did you get that new Lollipop camera? I'm using latest Lollipop preview (LPX13D) and have old camera app.
Maybe it's because I've gapps installed? If so, can someone upload APK of the new camera?

Yeah I'd have tested it myself, but I had a couple of bugs with some apps I really needed to use and didn't get to confirm this before switching back to 4.4.4. Maybe I'll do it today, I couldn't get the camera to work anyways so worst case this will either 1.) fix it 2.) do nothing.

Yes and it works fine for me, just a little slower than the kitkat camera focus. And the manual focus is less accurate.

Hey I have tested the port app from the Google edition HTC One (GS4) and it works like a charm on my Xperia Z with Android 4.2.2.
All functions including Photosphere work when accessed from the Gallery app. The Camera shortcut does crash sometimes. All you have to do is just download the APK and install it on your phone. It will not replace your stock camera app so you can just install it and use it as an alternative.
You can download it from this website: http://android.hdblog.it/2013/06/27...e-galleria-di-ones4-google-edition-per-tutti/
Or here is a Google Drive link: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1liTNaofBHRQTNHZzQ2V1YyaTQ/edit

Top man. Works nicely. Confusing as hell to use though.
I played a little with photosphere app. Great app. But the picture quality is not very good when zooming.
I compare 2 photoshere from the same point (one with my Xperia Z, one with S4 not google edition).
The one from S4 is much more sharp than the one from Xperia Z. What a pity...
Alternative Camera App
Reckon I will give this one a shot in a little bit. Was trying to get the Honami Camera app to work last night after de-odexing new Stock ROM, but this might keep me content until Honami is updated for new Firmware. Nice One !
This is a new camera application from Lenovo flagship set with maximum number of features including HDR.
"Lenovo Smart Camera software means enabling intelligent smile correction, auto face 'make-up' editing effects, and auto-exposure mode "
I'm amazed by the quality of the camera. Takes sharp and good pictures than our stock camera also no yellow/pink tint and smooth video recording and now that's what I call 1080p full hd
and also gallery has lot of editing features like beauty , special effects and I love gif creator.
All you say is wow after installing this app.
( If you don't know about lenovo flagship set " It is the device with 13mp camera with 1080p display and is powered by Intel".

Woah, it is sharp as mentioned and much lower noise than our Sony camera app. However, I couldnt find the setting to make it 16:9. May not be that big an issue, can always crop using editor. But the main thing is, this app by a china company interestingly beat the Japanese in terms of software.

I like it, thanks. Not perfect, some options don't work (eg. shutte sound set to off still plays) and the gallery is portrait only, but quite good app. Only thing left is to see if 5+ MB pics are corrupted like with stock.
Yup, still corrupted :c
Nice app. Burst and panaroma options make the application crash when selected.
You can record videos in gif format and the gallery application is quite good.

same thing lol it works great.
after a day, this app went crazy and made my cpu stay at 100% almost all the time.
Deleted it and now its fine
I tried it on CM11 20140107 version and iodak v9.1 and it takes better pictures regarding the frontal camera, while it's the opposite with the main camera.
It has many settings and options and I would recommend it for its pictures taken from the frontal camera.
O.t.: I would like to know if there's any way to improve the brightness of the frontal camera during videocalls..

I was about to say that setting isn't available when in video mode. L Camera is promising, but they haven't started with the camcorder yet. Its just pictures
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I think this behavior is intended. I see the same thing happening to my gf's iPhone 6.
Its in every phone... To maintain 30fps.. Before 4.4.2 videos were brighter but at 25fps.. Videos weren't smooth on 25fps hence google modified it
Just forget about "stock", I use simple AOSP and camcorder is actually brighter than actual scene...

16:9 would be nice. Obviously there will be no HDR + which I use mostly... Not sure if they'll do true HDR in the future.
i use the google camera and aosp camera. a better camera is good, since they started using the api2 with it. but it has an issue with focusing at the moment.
Manual Camera by GD Software is best overall camera. Worth every penny. You can find on App Store.

I bought it but I hate how the settings do not save
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
I've read about Manual Camera and how there are a few major issues with it (no front camera access, no videos, no saving of settings etc) but the positives are very good too (fast, good control, RAW). With a few updates it could become the best camera for the Nexus 6.
Reports that Google are updating the camera aren't all that informative and I dont expect the stock Google camera to have dramatic changes in post-processing abilities, speed, options or anything else. They MIGHT add RAW, but then the post-processing of photos through the stock camera (as well as speed) do not compared to other cameras out there (especially on other phones...Note 4, 6+ etc.).
If I were anyone wanting a new camera experience, I'd keep an eye on Manual Camera.
I can't help but feel the RAW thing is a bit of a gimmick on a phone though, and I say that as someone who shoots exclusively in RAW.
The benefits of using RAW are negated by the relative lack of quality in the camera itself (Compared with a DSLR for example) so realistically, I think it's a catchy term that'll appeal to those who aren't a big fan of the stock camera.
