Hey Guy,
I got my Mi3 a few days back. Since then whenever I place my phone on bed or any bumpy surface or shake it, it rattles.
So to check what exactly it is, I hold down my volume rocker and power button, so that they wont make sound & hit my finger a couple of times over the camera lens & on flash, I was shocked to hear that annoying sound.
I just want to know, If that's normal or I got a faulty Mi3?
No problem with camera, but that rattle sound is making me sick.
PS: I sometimes hear tick sound while opening and closing camera app.
Thanks
The sounds are normal, are coming from the lenses.

Um, I was just worried, as some said their Mi3 have no such sounds or rattling.
Wbu? Try bumping it on a cushion, check if that sound is coming. Or when you shake it.
Sound be like as if some part in the phone is loose. So..
I tried shaking my phone but I don't hear any noises.
Can you try turning the camera On and shake it to see if it still makes the sound? I have read about this in the S5 forums and people say it is normal and disappears when launching the camera app.

Though I am not sure but I just saw a Video in which a guy opened an Mi3 with each part apart.
There I see few screws around the camera compartment, it might be possible that one of that screw is loose and hitting the alloy back of the phone. When I hold the back of the phone and shake, I want hear any sound like that.
*Just wish what I thought is making that sound.*

Mine seems to be doing the same thing. Maybe it's normal?

Bro, I have figured it out, not quite sure but sort of. I think the sim ejection pulley is what making that sound.
Still I am not that sure.
Btw thanks for your reply.

Happens to me too...escpecially when the phone vibrates...
And the click for the Camera happens cause of the lenses, that's nothing to worry about...
Same problem here in my mi4i it sound and making me frustrated. From where it come :
Guys it's just the lens, it's happening to me as well and it isn't anything bad, the lens cover clicks as it opens when the camera app is started, while it's not started, the lens is closed, but not rock solid locked, so it rattles whenever it gets some stronger hit. After 2 months of usage, i'm totally used to that sound

I never had such issue. Looks like a hardware issue. Check it in the authorized service center.

Think my Xperia T is having a little problem with the vibrator.
If i'm holding the device head up the vibrator makes a strange noise. Sounds like scratching.
If i'm holding it upside down the noise is gone and everything is fine.
Does someone experience the same problem?
Or someone who's not experiencing it?
Yes, the vibrator is really making some scratchy noise, no matter how I hold the device. Not a big deal, but it's not very nice.
Yup same here but I have to put the phone next to my ear to hear it or it must be veryyyy quiet

Hmm, mine doesn't make any noise at all. Sorry to hear you've got noise that's unexpected. You can probably still exchange it at this point no?
Mine vibrates fine but with less intensity compared to my Skate.

Since it's a hardware defect it should be no problem to get it replaced.
My T has louder vibrating than my Samsung's but its quieter than an Arc I have here.

ahh thats why sony releases devices late to fix all of their problems with a device !! i hope when v comes out , no issues p
That's odd. Mine works fine.
Have it too but very subtle. Not a big enough issue for me to bother much though, since I only need it to FEEL the vibration, not hear it
It seems like the vibration motor on my HTC One is loose, as whenever it vibrates there's a slight rattling sound. I've also noticed that I can hear this sound whenever i tap the screen, or back of the phone, anywhere near the top, which is where I'm guessing the motor is found. This is gradually getting more and more annoying so I'm wondering if I should send it off to get fixed, so has anyone else experienced this problem?

I've noticed the same thing as well.

Yes well I have noticed it too, but as I have noticed this sound before with other smartphones. I think it has something to do with the camera components. Although it wasnt caused by the motor when I heard that. This motor vibration setting is way to strong. HTC should reduce the strenght when its activated in a next update or so, at least I hope they will.
it's the image stabilisation components for the camera.

It is.
Same here I turned of the haptic-feedback which I cant stand and I don't really notice it any more.
My dad's One has this issue, it sounds like the vibration motor is causing something glass to move and instead of hearing a smooth motorised vibration it sounds more like glass vibrating. It's really annoying when typing in a quiet location, it sounds like a crappy keyboard typing sound
My One isn't doing this, it feels and sounds normal.

Got my one today, just noticed the rattling, seems it is very very common! Personally I can't stand it, can I learn to live with it?! Or send it back in hope for a rattle free replacement?
Htc could have a very large warranty issue in the coming months!
But by large the rattle seems to be in most.

I am not seeing this in ny one. But I am getting worried with all these reports... HTC should have spent a little more time QCing their flagship product....
They will definately have warranty issues in the next couple of months. Tons of reports on dead pixels, blown speakers, gaps in physical build, horizontal lines on LCD and now this....
As much as I love this phone I am very much considering returning it... I'd hate to have something go wrong and be without a phone for a little while, while it's being repaired....

any have a solution to this?
just want to join the crowd...
My HTC One is also rattling .. it began doing so yesterday, 7 days after i got it
I can't decide weather i should simply disable haptic feedback -- the motor is too strong at the moment, which i hope they fix with firmware/updates
btw. the phone also have slight gaps in top and buttom, but i dont really considder them being a problem...

I'm having this problem too. I just turned down haptic feedback intensity for swift key and everything is fine now. I don't know if I should bother exchanging for another HTC one since many people seem to be having this problem..
Same issue here. I upgraded to the HTC One and was impressed by how solid that vibrator was. Dropped it in a toilet and toasted it. Got another and it had this problem. You could shake the phone and hear something faint. Replaced that one and same thing. It's my only hardware gripe with the phone as I enjoy having haptic feedback. It's probably a hardware issue.

2 of my friends with htc one's have the same issue. don't think it's worth exchanging..just wait for an update that will reduce vibration intensity for now. other than that...LOVE the phone
Im on my second HTC One and both had that rattly sound to the haptic feedback, which is annoying. Weird thing is that you can hear it if you shake the phone.
Hello everyone,
I have a question for you. When I am using camera (not making photos, rather switching between front/rear or closing camera app) there is a strange noise coming from inside the phone, like someting tiny is scratching some other part, I dont really know how to explain it better... maybe the lenses are making it ? I am a little worried about it, because I have never experienced this kind of behaviour on any other phone. Its not loud at all, hardly hearable when outside doing things, but you can quite hear it when home etc.
Has anyone got this issue too or is someone aware, where it is coming from and why? SHOULD I be worried?
Have a nice day guys.
That's not a hardware problem I guess.
My MI3W also have the same sound issues.
Nothing to worry
Sent from my MI 3W using XDA Free mobile app
Yeah, I can confirm nothing to worry about... Seeing as my Mi 4 shares source code with the Mi 3 I'd figure I'd test my camera switch to see if mine did the same. Strangely enough when I put my ear about a foot away I can hear something, not a scratch noise but instead a popping noise. I'll assume it is the lens opening. Hilarious that the Mi 3 and 4 share more then just source though. xD
haha, thanks guys. What a relief
My wife and I both pre-ordered n7's. The 2 phones are great. I noticed i couldn't hear my wife sometimes when i called her note 7 from my note 7. She then had other people tell her she sounded muffled, or like she was far away in a tunnel. It seemed that if her mouth drifted slightly away from the phone all sound would drop. I tested this problem by staying in my car on phone with her. Visibly i could validate that the sound dropped off when she didn't have her mouth close to the mic. Never had this issue on prior note 2, 3, or 4. I exchanged hers for a new note but problem persisted and she then said she couldn't hear me sometimes. I found myself obsessing on this wondering if we're crazy or are there any other people who have and love the phone but think phone call quality sucks slightly.

I have had the exact same issue with my phone as well.
My very first call with the phone, the person on the other side couldn't hear me until my mouth was practically touching the mic. Anytime I moved more than like a quarter of an inch from it, I dropped off. Since then, I've also tested this out with my friends and they say that as soon as I moved away from the phone, it sounds like I've "dropped off the edge of the Earth". And whenever I try to use my headphones that were clear on my V10, they say I sound muffled. I've resorted to only using the phone at home now cuz I have to pretty much use speakerphone for anyone to hear me normally.
I've tried finding setting for like Voice Clarity or Call Clarity in the Phone app, but nothing. I would love to find a solution, but I'm hoping this is a fluke that the once I get a replacement phone, it'll go away.
And for the record, I've been using my phone naked since I got it, running Stock OS.

Wow, same exact situation. My wife had no case and I did. It's something that I've never experienced before but is so god damn annoying. ALSO..... occasionally mixed into this equation is my wife and I separately can hear each other sketch in and out of call by a evil robotic sound. Kind of like a predator alien. Lasts like 1-3 secs. I absolutely love the phone and will stick with it but again, never had these problems on my other notes which i loved as well. Waterproofing is a extremely likely culprit that i didnt think off. Sucks!

Where was that option? I don't remember seeing it. I always found call volume to be too low and was looking for that extra volume that existed in my Note5.
Interestingly I'm using my loaner s7 edge where volume and clarity is far better, like my note5.

Hello,
I've had my Xperia 1ii for 2 weeks now and have noticed when filming video in the camera app or cinema pro, there is a kind of high pitch whine on playback. When testing in Instagram/Snapchat/WhatsApp it isn't as bad but there's still a little random noise.
Has anyone else experienced this or is the phone faulty?
Thanks
Read that somewhere, turn down microphone sensitivity. Spose to fix it.

It's so loud, I'd say it's like a high pitch ringing bell on my phone, surely this isn't what most people are experiencing?
I think I'm going to go for a replacement and hope the new one isn't as bad.

I've decided to keep it. Everyone I've spoken to about it have said they get the same issue so hopefully Sony will fix it in their next software update.
Of, it seems when ever you open either camera app or cinema pro app and place the phone near your ear, you can hear a hiss sound. I believe that's what's causing the hissing sound as it's being amplified by the microphones.
Maybe not everyone ears is as sensitive so might not notice it as much.
Sent from my XQ-AT51 using Tapatalk
Sounds like the microphone software is set up higher than the hardware can physically handle and you're hearing the actual Hertz rate leak out electrically. Feature phones back in the day had that notorious high pitch ocilating whine.
It's not even noise, it's like an ocilating whine right?
That really sucks, the only solution is to turn down volume sensitivity, unless there's just a ground fault with the microphone design Sony is now using. That would be really bad because there's no fix to that.
Found the post I read a while ago, apparently it's the microphone picking up lens nose. That's all they put. Whether it's accurate or not I don't know.

It seems to just happen in Sony's apps so hopefully after a software update it'll be normal. When using video in Instagram, WhatsApp and Snapchat the problem isn't there. Cinema pro is ridiculously sensitive, it'll pick up every normal foot step you make and play it back like you're stomping around a room.
I just did another test with some headphones plugged in while doing a video recording. It has stopped the hissing sound so hopefully a software fix can resolve this. Please test to see if you have notice an improvement
