Just change those firmware details to your current firmware.
[ROOT]Asus zenfone 4 a400cg[KitKat]
In case anyone has lost root by updating the asus zenfone 4 to the latest kitkat build[v6.5.30] and not able to root with the old root files, here is a root file that works perfectly on kitkat.
Instructions
1.download intel usb drivers and install them [link in main post]
2.Now switch off your phone and press power+volume up keys to boot into droidboot mode and connect your phone to the pc with a usb cable.
.download the root file[ attached below] and extract the downloaded attatchment.
.click on open.exe
.type this

.Click ENTER. Your phone is now rooted!!!

How to get on-screen soft keys
(navigation bar)
in Asus zenfone 4,5,6
[all versions]**.
Many people have trouble using the asus zenfone phones in the dark as there is no backlight for the navigation buttons. So this is for all of them.
Requirements
1.Rooted zenfone[4,5,6]
/*if u dont have root search in xda or google it*/
2.ES file explorer or any root explorer [I prefer root explorer]
Instructions
1.open root explorer and grant superuser permission
2.Navigate to /system/build.prop
[Find the build.prop file in the system folder]
3.open it with any text editor
4.type the line
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
5.after typing the above line, save it
6.reboot your phone
7.after reboot you can use the on-screen navigation buttons.
Incase if u want to disable them, just type 1 instead of zero and save and reboot. Thats it
[Optional]
If u want to use the on-screen keys Permanently and disable the hardware keys below the screen then use Buttons remapper android app[google it].
Even though this tutorial is available elsewhere in xda or internet, this guide is for newbies who doesn't know whether this works with zenfones or not.
Hope i helped atleast someone out there.

Hey. I rooted my phone a month ago. Was cool. but i got an update and i wanna install it. So i unrooted my phone, downloaded the update. When i pressed to install, it'll just turn off and start installing. Then it shows the droid icon fall down and FAILED dialog below it. Finally it starts up. Then it shows a notification "Unable to install update, recovering to original firmware." Please help. I'm really looking forward to get the lollipop update this march. Its more like an SOS to me.:crying::crying:

Anyone could install CWM on it? I still don't see that particular ROM in ChainFire's thread...
^ Yeah, that's what I'm referring to; there's absolutely no mention of this software version in the entire forum. I don't want to try installing CWM using a method meant for other versions like KK1 or KKA

I had to upgrade to KKA and then flashing CF kernel to get CWM on my Note. It is working now as expected (so far). Just FYI.
How did you manage to do that? I'm quite lost at this stage

I just flashed the KKA rom with Odin from a Windows XP machine, then flashed the CF KKA kernel that is already rooted and has CWM inside (also with Odin). Just that easy.

Ok flashed with mobile odin. Rooting and waiting for jig to reset counter to zero. Going to try a hard reset later make sure that works

You probably figured it out already, but since there might be some newcomers like me that land on this thread, here's how I did it.
You should have Samsung Kies software installed to be able to detect the Android Phone.
Download odin3 v1.85 for Windows.
Run odin3.
Press 'PDA' button and select the file "N7000UBKK2_N7000UBKK1_N7000UUBKK2_HOME.tar.md5".
Don't change anything else.
Power off your phone, USB is unplugged.
Hold Volume+ & Home & Power to get into Odin mode in Galaxy Note.
Press volume+ to continue. (You should be in download mode now)
Connect your USB to the PC.
You'll see on odin3, the ID:COM port is lit up, and now you click 'Start' button in Odin3.
It should take a while since you are pushing 500MB+ to your Galaxy Note.

I have the same prob! I've struggling for days!
Now I can see my efs folder is not empty but I don't see nv_data.bin
By the way, I've been looking for a while but I can'understand any tuturial posted about unlocking the galaxy s2, they not given with enough detail! Since I'm new to Android system I think a step by step with how to tutorial woild be very helpfull for novice like me! Tank you for gour help!

Get Odin kk4 without bootloaders (if you're on 2.3 and up) and flash it in download mode.
If you're on 2.1 or 2.2, get Odin kk4 with bootloaders.

I have a G890A on 5.1.1, and was wondering if anyone on 5.0.2 could tell me if their '/data/' folder is or is not read-protected. I've been looking at a possible root opportunity but it requires that folder to be readable.

I have a G890A running 5.0.2 with build lrx22g.g890aucu2aof4
Using explorer (root explorer without the root), the /data/ folder has the permissions of rwxrwx--x
UPDATE: The exploit I'm using requires the file '/data/local/tmp/fifo_dat' to be writable by a non-root user, which it is (somehow).
We might just be able to get this exploit working on the G890A!
BTW, if you want to help, search up the sensord exploit, and msg me!
the exploit doesnt work for me (i have 5.0.2), at first step it says "it looks likey is not vurneable". i dont think that fifo_dat or fifo_cmd is r or w without root. (it can not be when the whole /data folder is --x no?)

Hey, any progress?
My S6 Active is on Android 5.0.2 Build LRX22G.G890AUCU1AOE9 and see same permissions as eurosport360 : rwxrwx--x for /data/ using same Root Explorer app with no root (obviously).
I am also about to follow this post by lirex to manually update, so please let me know if you need my help on 5.0.2 ASAP or I will be upgrading.

A few days ago I was able to use the terminal or and my pc to be able to read/write sys files if I could be of any assistance
Testing the expliot using third party pc to inject one successful root then shut down
One success then shut down my phone and lost it grr

Accomplished this morning. As well as bootloader work around. On 5.0.2 But won't release until bounty and community confirmed. OP please feel free to message me. I'll work on setting up EX KERNEL while awaiting Chainfire and twrp team response.

Hey hows this coming? I have an active and I've been poking around with it while building Lineage for some older devices and trying to find bootloader exploits.... But now I'm really focused on the Active.
Well if the permissions are RWXRWX--X, what is the owner and group? Isn't the shell user part of the system group to a degree?
All of the information on the recently successful root method has been spread between several threads. I've started this as a home to all correct information about the rooting of s6 active using this procedure

have u heard anything on a custom recovery?
I am so new to this, and in the process of moving some of my pictures to my pc, my folder "Camera" just disappeared. I was dragging specific files over and poof it was gone. I have now spent hours trying to find a program to "undelete" or recover these pics, (((btw iRoot installed onto my PC and them plugged my phone in put SEVERAL apps on my phone without asking permission))) I am now in the process of trying FonePaw Android Data Recovery, but I need to get it rooted. I have version 5.1.1, and I have not had success rooting it. Does this post say that I cannot root it? WAAAAHHHH!!!

The most important file is g809ahybridrecovery.tar . I wonder if it's possible to unlock bootloader with it and leave it unlocked... Don't have the phone myself yet.
Did somebody actually try it? Included instruction is a bit unclear about the mechanism itself -
1. Boot hybrid recovery
2. ADB push install-su archive and run it
3. After all - flush included stock firmware - seriously?

So I followed the included instructions, but Odin got stuck for several hours. Does anyone know how long it's supposed to take to flash the files?
Anyway, I'm not sure what to do with the G890A.zip after I've followed the rest of the instructions either, nor do I know what

4.Verify root, and do any unlock, IMEI CERT READ/WRITE

I'm trying to root from 5.0.2 but the instructions provided in the download are unclear to me given the included files.
Is the "G890AUCU3AOK2 Combination File" it refers to the file called G890AhybridRecovery.tar in the folder? Would I flash that with Odin? And is "FIX_ROOT" the "G890ArootScript" file?

Dear,I have Huawei NMO-L31C185 recenntly system updated with B382 after that wifi speed got slow so i again update the B171 with 3 swich metod and it was show success.but when i check in the buid number its still B382.Actually my problem is after 171 update my phone totally misbehaving.so what i can do.
