No google play services and Play store - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently I purchased an xperia z device and there is no google play store or play services present. I tried installing them and running, it says unfortunately the app stopped working. I am really confused. Instead there is a market app which is in chinese. I really need play services on my device
My device is not a clone device. It is genuine sony which has sony official apps and also which gets detected as a Sony phone in Companion suit and Emma flash tool.
Running android 4.4.2
I am expecting a solution, Thank you

Why not just flash a stock FTF from a country other than China with Flashtool?
It seems the easier solution to me.
Edit - If you want to do this (and update to 4.4.4 at the same time):
4.4.4 stock roms - C6602 C6603
Guide here. Follow part 1 to install Flashtool drivers and part 3 to flash a stock rom.

For one who has a lock bootloader, The only way I know is that u have to downgraduate to a vision which is easy to root and REC, Andriod 4.1 for example. After that u may update to the latest vision by a flashable zip using the CWM, then flash the kernel by flashtool.

True, I actually did that before now that I remember. I just made a deodexed/zipaligned/rooted 4.3 flashable zip ROM out of the latest .199 FTF, but I haven't tested it yet; I haven't seen any other flashable 4.3 ROMs for XTX.

Cool. With mine I first want to see if I can manage to add Philz recovery to the stock kernel which I'm currently using, that way it will be a complete flashable zip file, with recovery and everything.

By any chance is the zip you made deodexed? If it is, does "Settings" force close when you open the sync menu for your Google Account?

Well, I initially flashed the version found here, but after booting it wouldn't detect my Sim Card, so I then flashed my version, and the only problem was what I mentioned in my previous post - Settings would FC every time I'd open the Sync menu for my Google Account.
Every time I flash a ROM I always wipe /system for good measure, but then I tried again with the initial version that wouldn't detect my Sim Card, except this time I didn't wipe /system manually (which supposedly is done by the script anyway, from what can be seen in the updater-script), and now it's working fine, no issues at all.

4K and Roms

Hello, I have some questions about Z1:
Did anyone installed 4k and Timeshift and did it work?
What's the best ROM? Now should I install custom rom or no? And how to install rom? Via Flashtools?
I installed a custom theme, but it just changed the main screen wallpaper and nothing else. It's rooted (757). Someone told me to choose the default theme and reboot phone, then again choose custom theme. Is that true?
It has a bit delay when I press the power button to unlock the phone. It's about 4-5 seconds more than usual. It made after I flash it to Kitkat 4.4.2. I don't know why, but I have this issue. How to solve it?
Thanks all

Hi...
For that 4K hysteria - belive me, that's nothing special.
Device sometimes (Z2) FC because overheating (after all, Z2 and Z1 have snapdragon 800- 801 is just a fancy new number, it's same cpu just overclocked to 2.3).
One min video takes 500MB of space and I rarely us it...
Timeshift is awesome and it's work great if I can remember well..
Questions like what's the best ROM aren't allowed on XDA so I'll skip that..
Try few of them and you'll find what's best for you.
For custom themes you have to patch services.jar - si, you have to install superuser mod or use Xposed module called "Xperia Xposed" by serajr - that module will automatically patch services.jar (will disable signature check)
No, you don't have to apply stock then custom, that's good advice for CM ROMs and themes in that ROMs.
If you have superuser, deodexed ROM and rooted device (of course) you'll be able to see custom themes.
Don't know about that "lag" but you could check RAM consumption, maybe there's a solution.
Or try to go to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik (don't rush there, many guys reported they did full wipe after trying only cache wipe)

Thanks. When I was about to install Deodex Rom, so after installation, a post said that I should clear dalvik-cache, and so I did it.
For this part "For custom themes you have to patch services.jar - si, you have to install superuser mod or use Xposed module called "Xperia Xposed" by serajr - that module will automatically patch services.jar (will disable signature check)" I did not got anything, because I'm not pro in android phones. Z1 is my first smart and android phone.
And so, I don't know how to patch services.jar-si
It's rooted of course, and I have SuperSU, lucky patcher, and recently installed moded Google Play.
Is that installed? How should I install it? Or how should I get it?
And about Timishift, it's and amazing addon for camera, just I wanna it. I know that some users reported Sony about overheating of 4k in Z2. My phone itself records 2K, and sometimes I face low memory.

Sorry again. I'm a beginner and my English is not well enough to understand properly these threads and posts.
I read your thread, but I have some questions:
What's NUT 534 firmware? I flashed my phone to 757 via flashtools. Should I flash it again?
I unlocked my BU and rooted it, and so I have CWM or CMW (I don't know which one is correct). And again I should download and install Dual Recovery?
And should I download both Xposed Module and Serajr Xperia Module?
So, now because I have recovery mode, it means there isn't need to flash again?
Now my brain is overheated!
Please help me
Just install xposed framework and serjar module, then the 4k mod
If you have unlocked the boot and have recovery you are all ready to just install the 4k mod by flashing it in recovery then clearing the data in settings/apps for the named apps
just like it says in the OP of the 4k thread

Good point, why root if you have no plans of how to use it?
Titanium Backup is always a good call. Maybe a custom ROM? You install a recovery manager?
I recommend installing these first:
- NUT's dual recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261606
- Titanium backup
- Xposed installer
- Xposed modules, such as GravityBox [KK]
Just be careful.
Oh and next time don't post the questions in general section.

For CM11 or CM based roms u need a unlocked bootloader. And for other Sony stock based custom roms u can install in Locked Bootloader.
Unlocking Bootloader will void ur warranty ( in some countries) and also u will lose ur Bravia Engine 2. So if you have any plan to unlock ur bootloader means kindly backup ur TA partition. U can get TA backup tool from Sony cross development section. Best of luck.. Take care of your lovely XZ...

#Borias yes you can flash it, just make a clean install, wipe everything through recovery and follow these steps... 1-flash the rom 2- flash directly on cwm any 283 kernel of your choice (I prefer Hodor kernel) 3- Reboot system and let it settle.. 4- Reboot into recovery and flash superuser fix 5- Reboot system and enjoy it.

Can I simply flash this rom with Cwm over PureXZ Ultra v3 or do I have to flash a kernel with flashtool afterwards? Locked bootloader here.

Yes you can. You don't need to flash stock kernel because PureXZ ultra has a kernel image inside the zip. So no special steps are needed.
Edit: sorry I didn't saw the above replies...

Use CWM or Philz Touch to flash the ROM.. And if u r coming from 4.3/4.4.2 or any other CM/AOSP based ROMs, flash the 4.4.4 stripped kernel from zippy's thread.. See instructions for that..
I installed XZDual recovery and it rebooted me to Teamwin recovery, is that wrong? I was on rooted 4.4.4

Yes, u did nothing wrong.. Just select reboot and press volume up when it vibrates during Sony logo occurance.. And u will get Philz touch.. Flash the ROM and make sure u wipe the data, cache and dalvik cache before installing the ROM..

saw your post that you said you will be rebasing the rom.
will you be able to include:
- x-reality/super vivid options like how it was on your current v3?
- and whatever you're doing that makes the camera start up faster and lockscreen glitter nicer!
also i noticed that sometimes while trying to unlock my screen i have a black wallpaper for a few seconds instead.
not sure if thats a bug, but its nothing major as it doesnt always happen.
(note: it happens on the default wallpaper as well)
thank you!

[Q] Xperia Z C6603 - Softkey mod to make it smaller, black, cwm flashable
glitschi667 said:
just in case not everybody has switched to gravitybox: here is the 10.5.1.A.0.283 version.
Flashed an ftf, rooted with the .230 kernel and towelroot, flashed just the boot.img from here (since I wanted to go back to stock kernel afterwards):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/orig-development/kernel-hodorkernel-t2865648
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
start into recovery
Code:
adb push X_softkey_XX_10.5.1.A.0.283.zip /sdcard/
and installed it with cwm. After that flashed the stock kernel from the ftf again.
hf!

Hi,
Can anybody please provide a step-by-step beginner's guide for this particular mod?
I just want to make sure I don't mess up my phone, that's all.
Your help is very much appreciated.

All you need is just flash the ZIP file if you have cwm recovery.

So I do not need to rename the *.zip file to boot.img? Bec. the attachment says X_softkey_XX_10.5.1.A.0.283.zip but the sample adb syntax says boot.img
And also, I did some back reading and if my memory serves me right (but most of the time it doesn't) there were issues of getting into a boot loop. What if something goes wrong? How to I revert back to the stock navi softkeys?
I hope you don't mind me asking these questions. I new to modding. I know how to make a backup of all system apps using RTB but do not know how to make a backup using CWM Recovery yet.

The zip you downloaded move it to your phone without renaming or anything. Then flash it with CWM
to make a backup with CWM go to Backup and Restore / Backup and select what do you want
System = the ROM or system partition
Data = apps and all data
Kernel = the android brain
Any questions are welcomed

Thank you so much for replying. I got it done. Liking the smaller navkeys. Is there an mods where in the navbar is just plain black? The one available for the Xperia Z C6603 is for JB. I'm on KK. And one more thing, is there any blackened contacts, Messaging, Email, Settings, etc. mod out there? Again, the one in the forums is for JB. I know there are launchers available in GP but stock is still better IMHO. Even on my past Androids I prefer stocks that are modded instead of using launchers. Sorry if it's off-topic but I don't think opening a new thread just to as for those is an appropriate move.
