Newbie wanting to theme! - Android Themes

As the title suggests i want to learn how to theme I have installed a bunch of different tools and just don't seem to be getting anywhere
For a start the idea is to do a theme for my xperia z3 compact
The problems i am having is i am unsure what i actually need to install and what i dont need...
So if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great thanks!

[Req] more xperia themes

Hello XDA..
Why does no one started to make more xperia themes? I have been visited Department of Z1 (themes & apps) there is a lot of xperia themes designs Until I started to crying
We need a lot of xperia Z themes like Z1. I really love the nexus 5 theme for Z1
Sent from my C6602 using Tapatalk
It should be compatible with Z I guess. Did you try?
Those themes should work on XZ (4.3).
There are few guys who already confirmed that
Sent from my Z1
I looking into it, but not much time on hands. You need to in decompile 4 apks, because (as far as I know) there is no official tool.

Yeah....
When you decompile theme you'll find few zip files.
One is for system, one for systemUI...etc
What's important is to decompile all and edit 9.png properly.
If you treat those png like any other picture you'll not get anything.
I don't have time to build something or to try to build something.
So I can only help with a things I know.
I wrote quick tutorial and I hope that could be a start for all who are interested.
This weekend I'll start to work on one of my themes and I hope it'll be out soon.

@nielneal
Mate, cloud you share those navigation bar icons?
I know they are from Xposed modules but if you have them already extracted I would be grateful

I've dealt with 9.pngs before. (sony keyboard mods) No problem. Just the recompile side of things I'm a bit unsure of. Also would be good to change package name so as to be able to install alongside the others.

Absolutely, yeah...
In the first step I believe it's O.K to use some of the themes as a base to test all.
But it's very important to tell guys to delete original theme first.

Haha...or in that case...
As I said in @jfxperias thread.
There was one guy who built themes for XS and they had different signature so they could be used in a same time as stock themes...
If I found or remember his name, I'll ask him for a couple of things...

and .9 png are very easy to edit if bordering is well know in advance:laugh:
check the attached screenshots

just change the name in smali files and android manifest for different and separate installation and not in any files in assets those are different apks...and under assets folder whatever you want to modify when themes is installed than specify in android manifest the directory for it else it wont work
Cheerz
I'm going to make a nexus 5 theme

Depends what you want to go for. Looking good so far. Nice minimalist approach. The navkeys look a little stretched, but that's up to you, and something you can deal with later. You gonna change the toggles?
I haven't even started yet. Gotta wait until my kids go back to school, then I might have some time.
Might be pestering for help recompiling.

Jolla OS on Xperia Z!

This sounds more like an request but if there's someone willing to port Jolla to Xperia Z with some basic working apps like text / call dialer / browser / skype , I will consider donating some money after all if something nice goes on!
www.jolla.com It's something new to the scene and I love the UI.I'm pretty sure I'm not alone.
Thanks.
I wonder if the got it working. On some nexus devices hahaha

[Q] How to Xperia Z1/Z2 live wallpaper colour freeze?

As we know with the kitkat update, the xperia z2 live wallpaper was brought to our xperia z1(the one that changes colour with swipes and touches). I was just wondering if there's any way to stop the colour at a point because the reds and purple-pinks look really really good to me and I'd like it to stay there.
Alternatively, if someone can tell me where that pink wallpaper is from in the htc m8 in this article about xperia z2 vs htc m8 on phonearena then i'd be eternally grateful:
search for the article please i cant post links just yet
I think it's the Z2 live wallpaper which is ported but anyway any help is appreciated
Thank you!

Someone already did that with live wallpaper, try to search on cross section and Z1/Z2 apps and themes threads.
It's somewhere there...

[Theme]Dark(fooox3 with font package)

Root is not required, just copy to the internal SD in the HWThemes folder. With Xposed it does not work completely.
This theme I created for myself, but I would like to share with you.
Based on various themes plus matching background and fonts.
Name: fooox3 with font package(fooox3 mit Schriftpaket)
Download
great work...thx
Thnx
sorry, where is the dlink?...?
edit: got it thx
Grow old, I had forgotten. But is at now.
no problem mate...
Thanks! Very good:good::good:
Woo, @Fooox1! This is a great theme! I love it!
Hope you continue creating new themes!
Thanks!
Probably not, because I do this for myself. If you have any suggestions, you can talk about it. In principle, this is feasible for everyone.
Fastastic job!! :good:
Thank you for your work

Hey fox, what do you use to make your themes? I created one with the Huawei themer app that someone posted here, but I have no idea how to delete that one thing on the notification/tools bar, it looks so ugly and I don't want to use my themes only because of it.. will upload a screenshot with it in a minute
edit: the blue bar on the screenshot where the pointer is.. the stock one looks ok but I would like to not have a bar at all like you, pls tell me if you know how to remove it

[mod][instagram]instax amoled black instagram

This is my first contribution to my Android School XDA. I always wanted to do this project and since I had a lot of free time I thought it's best to put it here. Presenting to you InstaX,a modded Instagram which does all what a normal Instagram app does except that it is in AMOLED Black completely.Often we have issues using our favourite apps like Instagram at night which led me to making this
Special Thanks to all the guides at XDA . I have taken help from many people and you know who you are. Much Thanks And Cheers! for helping me get here. Thanks to @lunatic33 for testing out stuff
Many People told me not to do it because we have Substratum already but you know a non-root and a solution that does not need OMS is always preferred
(Personal Preference)
BUGS/THINGS CRASHING
Pressing on Followers,Following
Visibilty issues with Settings
Some minor things that maybe I am not aware of
ENSURE THAT YOU UNINSTALL ALL OTHER VERSIONS OF INSTAGRAM
I haven't changed the package name but if you'll say I will do that too
Users with custom skins like MIUI,ZenUI,ColorOS etc may have some issues
Please force stop the app before using it for the first time
I don't know about the issues with Android 5.0 and below because of some changes in the Material Design Guidelines by Google
Any issues are welcome in the discussion
I have a Telegram Channel (for updates)
Here
I plan to support the project till I have time
Download Links:
InstaX_3.0.apk
Any suggestions are always welcome
Updates:
Everything is almost under the black theme and now we're soon coming up with the Third Version Of InstaX with a custom launcher icon
Amazing
Awesome work sir *_*

Awesome ?
great work. must install
So this is just the simple IG but with AMOLED screen. So basically, it's something that we could have done in GBInsta using a theme.

Hey buddy Thanks!
Can you try changing your dpi to a larger value?,
I have custom colored those icons and used dimensions of xxhdpi and mate 20 pro is a huge phone so maybe it caused some issues
Tell me if it works!

Thanks for that quick answer. [emoji106]
I am on WQHD+ and not rooted. So I can't change my dpi. Or I am to blind to find it [emoji23]
I use a black theme maybe this is the reason. I can live with it because I know where the buttons are. Your work is great I was looking for a black and gold insta. [emoji4][emoji4]

If you're using another Instagram mod can you try uninstalling it?
And also in the settings of EMUI I'm sure there'll be something related to dpi
Try once and revert back
If not then my team will try figuring out what's wrong
Also there is a neon accent if you like to use it ?
