Graphing Calculator App? - Nook Touch Themes and Apps

Sorry if starting a new thread isn't exactly appropriate. I wasn't certain what to search for, but I was wondering if there was a graphing calculator app that could run on our Nooks, similar to the stock calculator on CM11. That would be convenient for my Algebra work. Thanks!

I'll look around a bit more, but I haven't had any luck on this before. I've been looking for an app ike this since I started Algebra 1 last year.
Algebra 2 is great, isn't it?

If only WabbitEmu worked on 2.1. That would be almost perfect.
As for Algebra 2, it's an okay class when you have a good teacher... In my class, about ten people almost failed until they decided a D to a 0.5. And now this quarter that's not happening and alongside passing, we have to also make a 2.0 GPA to stay in the school (since it's a magnet school). Also, it's kinda funny how we keep running into each other today, wouldn't you agree?

Well, I'm homeschooled, so Algebra 2 is taught by my mom/a computer program, and it's super fun and easy for me.
Definitely funny - especially considering we're around the same age.

Ive actually had a bit of luck with Andie Graph(just had to get the roms through other means online) and it runs pretty nicely on the eink screen

Just because I'm lazy, would you post the .apk? You can find it in /data/app.

I would, if I still had it installed Its from the google play store, it shouldnt be that bad to download it there

Wow! That app is better than sliced bread
Back in the day I used to run the Virtual TI on my laptop to show students what I was talking about and to run various lab instruments for demo purposes. I don't imagine I could do that with this app but I bet it would run an isotope half-life simulation I wrote for the calculator. Gotta try and dig that up just for fun.
Thanks for mentioning the app!

True, but not true - I don't have Play installed and don't want to go through all the trouble of downloading multiple wrong-version .apks from the Internet. That's why it'd be great if you could post the .apk.

I don't have my Nook in front of me now, so I can't tell you version compatibility, but I got it on my phone. I have posted the *.apk here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ro0q5bwua4xyxkr/net.supware.tipro-1.apk?dl=0
For legal reasons, I can't include the ROM image of course, but you can find it elsewhere. It is suggested to pull it straight from a real calculator, but mine's an NSpire with an 84 keypad, which doesn't allow you to image the 84 ROM for some reason, and the images from TI's website don't work, so I'm at a loss with this app.

Okay, I'll try that link.
Kind of lost on the other stuff

So I got the chance to load Andie on my Nook (the version in my Dropbox works). Works like a charm! Attached are some pics. As far as obtaining a ROM goes, you can get WabbitEmu (on a newer device of course) and use that to compile a ROM (I think the 83 Plus is the newest that Andie supports). From there, extract it from /data/user/0/com.Revsoft.Wabbitemu/cache/ (the file should be named "calculator name.ROM) and copy it to the Nook's SD card (anywhere is fine as long as it's on the card).

Scientific Calculator For Android assistance

Hello,
I'm currently a college student and was looking around for some heavy-duty calculator applications for the G1 and stumbled on this. It seems not to have been updated in about 9 months, but the application itself seems very interesting and exceptionally useful. I was wondering if someone would be interested in picking up where they left off? Or atleast compiling an .apk for it?
Same here, maybe something similar to a TI 83 and up?
I would be very interested to see this developed more.

Yeah, THIS is the most powerfull software calculator i've ever seen.
And it's free. A little bit unusual to learn, but you have graphical output on screen
and everything you can think about.
Just type what you want and he does it for you.
It's very fast.

PG Calculator
I would like to recommend PG Calculator. It comes in free different versions: Free, Standard and Pro. Pro version can work with complex numbers.
The app has nice interface which can be changed using different skins. It can work in both Algebraic and RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) modes. Algebraic mode allows to process the mathematical expressions. Calculator has a library of common mathematical and physical constants and allows for user-defined variables.
Pro version has the Time Value of Money solver and also the IP Subnet calculator.

At the risk of sounding like a complete nerd...Forza app request

There's a very good tuning calculator out for Forza 3 that's been written as a flash file. Does anyone know how difficult it would be to make this into an app?

From reading on Forza forums others have requested the same thing since it's currently an app for the iphone. I have a feeling it would be pretty popular.

We're all nerds! This would be kind of cool. I just bought Forza 3 and playing it little by little. Still trying to figure out everything I can do.
This might be something I'd be able to develop, I've been playing with the Android SDK and looking for an idea for an application that would be useful but not too difficult for a first real project.
I'm not totally sure how Feuerdog feels about derivative works, it looks like he's ok with them, but I'll probably PM him first to ask, just in case.
No promises, but I'll look into it.
Sounds good! I remember reading a thread where someone asked him about an app for the droid, he didn't have the desire to do it himself but was receptive to the idea of someone else doing it. I looked and looked but couldn't find the thread again.
I've talked with Feuerdog, and he's completely open with the use of his calculations for any type of implementation, so I have the green light from him.
I'll play around with prototyping some of the UI and calculations, see what I can come up with. I'll probably work on getting the math working first, then making it pretty second, since an ugly functional app still does something useful!

Just an FYI there's an app on the market now, ForzaDroid by Thomas Weitzel. Works perfectly and looks like it's using Feuerdog's formulas. Results match up perfectly with the output of the flash application.
Looks like it's the same short of app I was going to be making, glad to see there's one already out there. I'll put mine on hold and not worry about it unless there are problems with ForzaDroid

Do you think WebOS would work on Nook

if you'll look on Nook Color from part perspective it looks very similar ( except screen) to pre 2.

In Theory yes it could be done.....
In Reality, with out the Source code, not alot can be done to get this ported over.
I just wont to try. I need to say my Palm Pixy Plus is one of my favorite phones but it seems it wont be updated any further, and HPalm announced today this TPad only problem for me is 9,7".
7" is my favorite form factor for tablets but Android 2.1 feels limited. 3.0 is not there yet.
Its the best time to play around with my Nook but as I'm saying havent had much luck yet, well I have a cool name WebNook.
Do not bother
WebOS is a copywrited OS. It would be illegal, immoral, and very near impossible to do. HP bought it for over a billion dollars, so they will protect it. Android is "good enough" for the NOOK.

Yeah 2.1 is rather limited, but keep in mind that soon CM7 will be out for the nook with I think 2.2 or 2.3 and it will be much better, and as far as 3.0 goes we don't even have the official release or source yet, the build people are playing with is the SDK Preview release, which is far from fully Honeycomb.
So there is still plenty of Growing room in the nook.
There was a group of people in the CDMA hero forum that attempted to port WebOS to the Hero. I think they got it working but stopped due to copyright. I searched for the thread using both the XDA search and google. It looks like XDA removed it.
I'm not trying to justify myself from trying (still unsuccessfully, and I dont want to make any money from it) to port WebOS to my Nook but what I remember Windows Phone is copywrited OS too and this whole Portal is build around people who are making new roms, and porting new aps to devices. Plus theres nothing better to learn on than something that you shouldn't.

I recently tried Aldiko also, and quite like it. It seems pretty superior to barnes and noble reader. The only downside, as you said, is losing the simple sync with B&N. I'm sure people would come up with a simple enough work around though. I personally don't buy books from them, so it's not too much of a concern for me. perhaps they could be synced with the nook app in the market and then once downloaded could be added to the Aldiko library?

The Windows Phone Roms are for phones that are licensed to run said OS. You won't find a WP7 ROM for the NC for example, because it's not licensed to run it. You could probably get your mitts on the SDK, hack around and get WebOS kind of, sort of running on the NC, but there is no way you could make any argument that it was legal.
I used to have a Palm Pre Plus, and besides the factory defects of 3 units, I wasn't really impressed with the OS either.
For me nothing beats my Nexus One. So having my Nook run CM7 is way more enjoyable.

[Q] Android Image Editing App for G-Tablet?

One of the big things I REALLY need to be able to convert to using Android and my G-Tablet as a complete replacement on the road is an Image Editor that supports layers (filters as well would also be nice). I know there are a couple out there for the Chrome Web OS, so I would assume there has to be something at least as good for the Android? Or is there a way to run Chrome Apps under Android (or in one of the Android browsers)?
TIA!
I know that there's a Photoshop Express for Android but I'm not sure if it supports layers.
However, the Canvas App (in this thread) from the Adam port does support layers. I haven't had much time to play around with it so I'm not sure how 'robust' an app it is but you might want to check it out.
Photoshop Express for Android unfortunately doesn't have layers. Maybe in the future
Thanks for the Canvas link. Going to give that, and a web-based offering called Splashup a try tonight.

Have you tried Picsay Pro? It's a paid app but well worth it. Does layers.
I'm finding that many of these apps do "layers", but they don't do what "I" need from layers. For the sorts of things I do, I copy part of another picture, and then "Paste as New Layer". Both Canvas and PicSay support layers, but only for doing artwork in the program on the layer, which isn't a "true" layer where you could use a layer to try and add a color correction, and then an effect, and blow one or the other of those away by just dropping the layer.
Haven't been able to get to an APK for the Autodesk product. Evidently the "Market Fix" for Vegan, et al doesn't fix the entire market (I also can't seem to find Jet Car Stunts, but that's another thread).
The online editors are Flash based, but usually once you start to get into any heavy lifting they crash. I am going to take a look at Aviary since I think they have an HTML 5 based version.

Pointers to the thread that worked for you would be appreciated. I've tried the normal with stopping the market, clearing the cache, stopping the framework, rebooting - and while that shows more of the market, it doesn't show all of it.
Yes, I am looking for recommendations, but it's hard to say if a recommendation will actually work without trying it. I am not trying to avoid paying for anything, but I can't pay for it if the market won't let me DL it
Seriously, if someone can help me setup my market so I can see it, I will be more than happy to pay for the product.
In fact, I'm kind of surprised that more application providers don't offer an option to order and DL direct for just such circumstances. Does Autodesk really care if Google gets their cut?

Nook Classic Library on NST

Is there any way to implement the Library from the Classic Nook 1st edition on the NST. On the classic i was able to list like 20 books per page but on the NST is like 6.
Yes, I've always found the stock Touch Library.apk annoying with its wasteful listing.
I use my own "lean and mean" Library app with 15 books per page.
I have no idea the compatibility with the Nook Classic.
I would guess that it's not very good.

But why would you want to read anything in life besides the Nook guides?
They represent the pinnacle of Western literature.
Um, you mean that you haven't deleted those off your Nook yet?
I found the MediaScanner lacking on a few aspects so I do the searching for books myself.
There's a set of directories it checks, your stuff must not be in any of them.
I'm going to have to take another look at the MediaScanner.

Yes, sorting correctly by last name would be good.
I wasn't sure how many books actually had opf:file-as
Code:
<dc:creator opf:file-as="Collins, Wilkie">Wilkie Collins</dc:creator>
We can give it a go. It will be a bit screwy for books that don't have it.

so in order to do this, each epub's content.opf needs to be edited or is there some change that can be done to the library.apk
Most decent EPUBs seem to have the file-as already in them.
Try the new version in the signature, Library-1.2.apk
EPUBs without a file-as will be intermixed.

Personally, I'd like to see it in full screen mode, drop the scrollbar and use page numbering instead (like the original library), drop the refresh & sort order bar and replace it with something a bit more elegant (minimal icons?).
Basically something that goes more nicely with my setup (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30296628&postcount=9)
Having said all that, I'm no longer a coder by trade but can find spare time to poke around if need be. What do you think?
the 1.2 is a lot better... author sorting worked for like 90-95% of the books i have
just an aside, page numbering would be a good idea as mentioned above
Thank you so much
I have been looking for a library app that could show and sort by series for a couple days now. This is great my only request would be that I could list the series like folders and then browse series but that would probably be a whole lot more coding. Thanks for this great app though.
