Dear all,
Now I am on a custom GB rom with custom kernel. If I would like to move to ICS stock rom, do I need to flash with stock kernel? Sorry if my question looks stupid and repeats. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Make sure not to wipe/factory reset if you are on any ICS stock kernel. Best way is to follow the guide by Dr. Ketan for installation of ICS. Follow this link:

Folow the yin-yang said link in above msg.
Find rooting guide on first post
and look to method 2.
That is idle for you from where are you.

All GB kernels are safe to flash from. In case you want to flash ICS Stock ROM, you would require a ICS Stock/Custom Kernel to go with it.

What are you on about here? The guy want to move to stock ICS; where I come from 'stock' means NO rooting and NO custom kernels.
All he needs to do is flash a stock ICS Rom of his choice using PC Odin and nothing else.

Oops, forgot to delete that line from my reply. The second line was meant for him, i.e., to follow Dr. Ketans Guide. Have deleted the line. Thanks & Sorry.
Hi,
[Don't know how to use multi-quote!]
Thanks for all of your replies. Why I am going to stock ICS rom is as a stepping stone to any custom ICS rom in the future. This seems to be an all-recommended method for most custom ICS rom.
Dr.Ketan:
Thanks, I have been looking into your threads, including the one yin-yang recommended. "Method 2" means "1.b Final Installation" right? And flashing stock rom will flash stock kernel altogether?
Yes I have been thinking this should be the way to go, just not sure if flashing stock rom will leave the kernel on the custom one and causes any problem.
Yin-yang/chasmodo:
Thanks for your information!
Hi, I saw there are few questions on changing from ICS to GB but not for i9001. What is the proper way to change from ICS back to GB? Anyone have tried it and might wanna share the experience?

Both if possible because it's better to know how to do it.
If you want flash custom GB download the custom rom that you wanted to have like CM7 or if you want Samsung stock rom go to samfirmware.com

Yes, Since you are using i9001, only use an i9001 ROM with AriesVe.ops in odin 4.43, your helpline is your WIKI , everything you need is written here

Hi all,
I'm new in this forum. Now I'm already with ultimate v5.1 and want to upgrade to 4.1.2 Stock deodexed and rooted XXLSZ. I just want to make sure I can flash this rom directly in CWM with 3 wipes. Also, the Philz Kernel in ultimate v5.1 is safe, right? Hope someone can help.
Thanks.

I don't use any ICS Rom, so I couldn't suggest anything.
If you want to go back ICS stock rom, You should use Nvflash to go back GB stock and flash ICS stock Rom.
Good Day,
I want to ask if I can directly install a custom ROM on my GT-N7000 running on stock anrdoid Gingerbread.

Yes..
Flash Phil jb kernel using Odin... Then use that recovery to flash a cm11 kernel like raw kernel.. Then flash the kitkat rom... You should make the backup of your current rom if you want before installing the newer OS kernel.
Thanks for the reply. Can you give me the links so I can make the procedure. And also what is the latest stock rom for the GT-N7000? Thanks.
Just check the development section of xda n7000.. All links are there and for latest jb rom you can check samfirmware.com
