Hi,
I've a G-Note running ICS-4.0.3 , i recently noticed my phone is getting really hot and resetting automatically at times, on closer investigation i see 'CPU spy' data showing my phone running constantly at 1400Mhz mode!!! wanting to find which process is doing this, i downloaded watchdog lite and noticed that 'System UI' process is running at 49% approx CONSTANTLY, killing it re-spwans the process!! any idea whats causing this?? Please Help!!
Not rooted, never flashed, on original upgrade, have nova launcher, use it rarely. no other launchers installed.
Restart fixes this sometimes, sometimes not.
Thanks in advance,
Ramgo.

Not that i can think of as a problem, been happening for a while now, could be any of the app! i have like 200 installed!!
Now its not system UI, its android syste, badass battery monitor shows kenel to have taken most of the battery (which seems mostly loop task, is this bad) and then android core process.

well try to remember from which app on this issue showed up.I had battery drain problem turned out it was because of an app that I had installed. So I unistalled it and my problem went away.Yours should be easy to spot try unistalling the recent apps or the ones you're suspicious of and see when you get deepsleep.
Check your battery status and see for the battery eater apps

I infact got deep sleep the whole day, 15 hrs just 10 percent drained! this problem has been occuring intermittently, deep sleep is still happenning, but when the phone is screen ON, its in the highest mode.
Hmm things got complicated.Like I said if everything used to be normal then all of a sudden this problem began then it should be an app I suppose?!Just like my case.
Install OS Monitor and see what's hogging your cpu maybe you can pinpoint the application if that's the case.
did anybody have a problem with Gsam battery monitor after it was upgraded from Badass battery monitor??? i was looking at it and was showing 100% battery drain due to application ( 0% for screen and phone radio)!! i have uninstalled it and seems fine i guess! atleast for now! charging now and its in the expected 200Mhz state.

Yes will do that!! Thanks! read my comment below, i think GSam Battery monitor submits some task or makes some query to the kernel which makes it to go in a loop, hence the android system seems to be using more CPU and not battery monitor itself
The problem is back!! HELP!!
I checked OS monitor, nothing seem to be hogging, occasionally android system, overhearting near the camera and resetting automatically, please HELP!!!

Hello,
I'm having a similar problem. When my Note is in standby sometimes it overheats without any apparent reason and battery drains very fast.
I haven't been able to trace the origin of this problem. I'm running on ICS 4.0.3 stock and no ROOT.

Have you installed any kind of launcher on your phone? If you have, do try to uninstall it for now. Install BetterBatteryStats, turn off any data connection.. 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth.. Remove any Live wallpapers(just use a static one), Uninstall any apps that connect or syncs online.
The last thing I could advice you is turn off Airplane Mode (at night), charge up your phone to 100% and just leave it for a day. Check back on BetterBatteryStats after on what apps/wakelocks is triggering the overheating.

Lot's of work... I'll have to find some time to try all of that.
Thanks.
Early last week my Note started to reboot whitout any apparent reason. It happened 2 to 3 times a day. Specially in the morning when battery was still above 60%.
The overheating also happened from time to time but not everyday.
Saturday I figured I had to do something extreme to end this.
First I downgraded to a pre-rooted GB rom. Afterwards wiped the GB rom. Then upgraded to stock ICS. Everything worked out fine and was very easy to perform, thanks to all the guides available on XDA.
Last of all I rooted the ICS.
Until now the Note hasn't overheated or rebooted again.
I really thought it would be harder to do all this. But now I think it would take me about 20 min to do all these procedures.
Thanks to all the people that posted the guides on XDA.

I'll take that as a joke.
Three days in and still no unwanted reboots or overheating.
Gents if you have nothing constructive to provide in assisting the users with real help, please refrain from off topic mindless humor. Thank you.
A week after I've re-flashed ICS on my Note, the unwanted reboots have come back.
It must be some app I've installed again or maybe something much worse. I've read lots of threads and was wondering if a custom kernel and a different ROM might solve this problem.
One thing I've noted, the reboots never happen at night only during the day (mid-morning and mid-afternoon).
Any new ideas to help me find the source of this problem?
EDIT:
I'm running on LPY Kernel, so wipe is not an option...
I don't know what's causing this. Anybody have the same situation as I have? Any ideas to remove Android OS battery drain? TIA
Remove Android OS from your system :screwy::silly:
Seriously its core process of entire OS (operating system).
Without it your phone can't work

Every now and then i have the same problem, Android OS chewing my battery dry...it keeps my phone "Awake" all the time, like when i sleep for 8 hours it eats my battery over 30% ... but, after a restart or 2 or 3 restarts it gets back to its usual behavior, phone goes to sleep when i don't use it and i get easily 2 days of medium usage...
i still have stock ROM and dont know what keeps the Android OS working all the time in the background, but as i said it happens rarely, maybe 2-3 times a month,so probably its some sort of a glitch
P.S. @NoTricks , 2 months ago i installed Dropbox app and even i have had its settings not to upload anything automatically, the application was working all the time in the background killing my battery super fast...after i uninstalled it the phone went back to normal battery usage...just my personal experience with that app....

Yeah, Same Here, My battery drains faster when I install an app that always runs in background. I tweaked my S3 Mini's Minfree values and it helped a bit, but it reduced my phones powers in multitasking.
hey guys,
i have a problem with my i8190 since i've bought it... the os is draining battery and i'm loosing about 20% battery over night...
i've tried several things:
installed newer official versions from samsung
deactivated nearly every app
calibrated battery
tried benzrom
tried juicedefender
but still no success.
can you identify something in my bbs??
thx in advance
I have the same problem, i had a full charge at night, then i woke up and the phone had 50 % battery, GPS, Bluetooth, Wifi were off and it drained half my battery, also installed CPU spy, and i notice that my phone is not going into deepsleep, i only have 5 hours of deepsleep and dont know when that was, i have the latest firmware, anyone else having this issue?
It's normal for this phone. Put the phone in airplane mode at night helps me with battery drain, just 2% juice gone.

install adaway
should decrease the battery drain and free up some memory in the process
Well for mine it was an app called Jango, for some reason this app after quitting it wouldn't let the phone go to deep sleep, removed the app and now its going to deep sleep.
Use JuiceDefender or or try to change your brightness level.
Please reply to my better-battery-stats...
I has nothing todo with screen brightness
thanks for the tip with adaway... i'm already using it... but no success
@kicker63: this can't be, when i see people having the s3 mini with up to 4 days usage

Your battery might be defective i guess, if deep sleep is that long and you're losing battery, i guess u have to blame the battery
I don't believe people get upto 4 days usage, if they do they hardly use the phone. Most people on here say about 1 days usage is common. Screen brightness on full will drain your battery more quickly.

It's a long shot, but I also experienced a lot of problems using Viber.. JuiceDefender etc wouldn't solve it, betterbatterystats wouldn't detect it, ...
Just noticed after a while that my sudden battery drains were triggered as soon as I received a message on Viber.
I also heard about facebook apps draining the battery.
Maybe you should first try to reset it to factory settings before asking a new battery?
Good luck with your phone, I know it can be frustrating..

resetting the phone wouldnt help since he is getting almost 99% deep sleep reported in BBS

Viber was the culprit in my case. Eating battery like a hungry monster :silly:
hi
i'm not sure but i think my note 5 is draining abnormally during standby, yesterday i slept at 12 am my battery was 95% then i woke up at 8 and my battery was 60%, is this normal for 8 hours standby?
i noticed that under "android os" stay awake was 5h 39m 32s, could this be the cause?
That is absolutely the cause. Something is holding your phone awake. I would reboot into recovery (turn off phone, hold vol up+home button+power button) and wipe cache and reboot. See if that helps it.

Then it must be one of your apps that you have installed holding phone awake. If you can't find out which app it is then i would do a factory reset. That is definitely not normal.

You could try searching for the latest Google play services apk and install it to see that helps. Also then off always allow scanning in WiFi settings and turn location reporting off.

Mine drains like 2% per hour in standby. And I dont know what the phone is doing.
I know this isn't a solution to your problem, just some extra advice. Make sure you turn VoLTE and Wifi Calling off. Cell Standby is my number one battery drain when screen is off.
I have the same problem with stock kernel. I tried to flash all stock firmware but nothing, same problem. Solve only with arter97 o nobel kernel.

Draining alot overnight, I barely have any apps installed.
Android System is using battery not deep sleeping. I tried Package Disabler PRO still same thing.
Any solution?

Well actually i have the N920CD dual sim. The 920C works fine minus the drain.
Trying kernels makes me lose the dual sim option which sucks!
And loosing the warranty as well!!
i have done something yesterday night, i switched off WiFi and Mobile data and i slept with 72% battery, then i woke up 7 hours later and battery was 71%!!!, so only 1% consumed, so i think the issue should be something related to either WiFi or mobile data.
do you have xposed? if so download the module call mobilestandbyfix
My phone with stock rom does that too!
I've heard the update was full of bugs and drains battery a lot!
Whenever I try to look at the cause there was Android Os!
90% to 50% power left if unused.
I did a factory reset and got fix!
Try factory reset that does helps.
About google play services it never let my phone to run smooth just eats ram alot!
I always uninstalled when not in use

Im not rooted and i did once factory reset but it didnt help, maybe i will try it one more time
Why dont you root your device
Get greenify pro ,allow root permission ,hibernate the cause of cpu wakeups !
I did hibernated some system apps and trust me i've got amazing power backup!
Some system apps keep wakeup your cpu and screen in background result in battery drain.
Hope that helps

For the past couple days, my rog phone has had less than 2-3 hours of screen on time on a full charge. Today, on a full charge I'm sitting and 8% and 1h36 mins screen on time. Before, I used to get upwards of 9-10 hours of screen on time no problem with 10% to spare. I looked at armory crate and my temps are really high, between 120-140f. Any idea what is causing this??
If no 'meaningful' changes were done in the firmware (did you install any apps recently? what does the battery manager say? isnt something draining it hard?), then its probably battery dieing on you bro.
