how to? Remap softkeys and home button - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Coming from the Note 3, I got pretty used to the old settings.
Can anyone guide me how to remap these buttons to the way I like them?
I want the "Recent Apps" button to bring up the menu button on single press
I already have the "Home" button initiate Google Search on long press... How do I remap so that double press "Home" to bring up "Recent apps"
Anyway to make this these settings flashable?

Bump

Found this but haven't really looked into it. I was hoping for an Xposed module or something that would make it easy to do.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-tmobile/help/swap-recent-buttons-t2921671

its easy everyone
Okay so the mystery to changing the note 4 buttons to be like prior buttons like the note 3 is gravity box xposed module. I also turned the light off for the soft touch to prevent seeing the recents image. Easy peezy.

Go to the "navigation key actions" section in gravity box. Mess around in there.

That was simple.. But did Gravity box screw with your notification drop down menu? I'm getting partial transparency on the notification dropdown when I didn't even change any settings for the status bar. Weird.

Hmmm. I don't see anything unusual in the drop down shade.

You can also remap using "xposed additions" module.

Not sure why it did that. All I ended up doing is changing the status background to fill and over underlay with no transparency.

Just install some app that can do this... Widgetsoid in market can put powercontrol widget in notification, its free and customizable...

will definitely check that out. I've been using BarControl (which hasn't been updated since the 80s).

Yep... I already have looked at the code.... CM team has already been planting the seeds for many future mods into the framework and other associated files. One of them happens to be the notification toggle widget control bar...
Give them a few days that will be fully functioning and they will be onward to other great things...

You have to enable view notification in APP setting. Then in the WIDGET setting choose to hide the widget. It will then place it in the notification area.

Halo for all roms

So I was looking around and discovered this bad boy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419287 only problem is that it uses notification bar for the float if your using the modified halo))) apk. I just started messing around with this but I took someones advice with the sao launcher and it works perfectly. Going to try it with bubble launcher and see how it goes.
Edit: bubble launcher is pretty cool. I'd recommend it and if u really enjoy it I recommend donating. Bubble launcher resembles the halo apk from paranoid to an extent but slightly different.
Edit2: just tried floating notification and its just like halo after setting it up right. Only downfall is its a 30 day trial so after awhile you have to buy which I do recommend if you want the stock halo look.

If you don't mind, could you outline your installation process to get this to work?
Here was how I got it to work.
1. Install Floating Notifications and enable it in the Accesibility menu.
2. Select the box labeled "Launch Apps in Halo Mode"
3. Go to the app notifications menu and check which ones you want it to notify you for. HINT: if you want a real halo experience the rightmost icon in the app list will make the icon stay floating.
4. This is a personal preference: Go to Customize in Floating Notifications and select "Dock after a few seconds of inactivity" and then at the bottom set "Amount of the icon hidden when docked:" to 55%. If it is more than 55% then you will have trouble clicking the stack.
5. REBOOT PHONE.
Now for the Xposed part.
1. Install Xposed Framework
2. REBOOT PHONE.
3. Go into Xposed Installer and go to "Downloads" and select XHaloFloatingWindow, and then install it.
4. REBOOT PHONE.
5. Go into Xposed Installer and go into "Modules" and check the box "XHaloFloatingWindow".
6. For safe measure REBOOT PHONE. And then you're done
Lemme know if y'all need any help!
Also on the reboots it hung on the splash for a while.
Oh yeah not responsible if your device catches fire.
using this will make the sense stock messager app from working properly as you won't be able to see the "SEND" button in the halo window

[HOW-TO] Hide Navigation Bar When Gaming

As we all know Nexus 5 has a gorgeous looking display that's amazing to play games on, however, the big navigation bar that's always common kind of destroys the purpose of it.
One way to hide the navigation bar is by editing the build.prop file by adding a new line to it: qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
What it does is completely disable the navigation bar, so we need a new way to navigate without it. An easy way to do that is with an application called Button Savior. The app will enable hidden on screen buttons that are very responsive and will allow you to access home screen with ease while enjoying the beautiful display, now in full screen!
Here's a list of applications that work and can be used to navigate without the original navigation bar:
1. Button Savior (back button does not work)
2. Handy Soft Keys (when enabled the "Ok Google" feature does not work)
3. Pie Control (paid application, but developer offers it for free to XDA users http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2454531)
Thank you The display looks so much better without the nav bar. i look forward to GMD Gesture Control compatibility with KitKat, it's a much better alternative for Button Saviour.

Thanks for the heads up, this will do fine for now. Once Xposed is updated for 4.4 I'll use GravityBox to shrink the navbar down so it's just a sliver when in landscape. That way I still have instant access to the buttons but it doesn't take up any noticeable real estate on my screen. That's what I did with my Moto X and has proven to be the best mod I've done.

Yeah man, once we have Xposed I'll be MUCH happier with this phone. First on the agenda aside from shrinking the navbar is setting my status bar icons back to holo blue. Why google went to white is beyond me.
But back on topic. I'm using the handy soft keys app that you posted, I like it better than the one in the OP. Thanks for the recommendation.
I actually just found the PERFECT app. It's simply called Pie Control. It's fully customizable, smooth as silk, and feels like it's actually part of the ROM. It's paid, like $1.50, but worth every penny.

So a quick question,
Did anyone manage to get a look in to if HTC kept or removed buttons from black bar?
We know on M7 middle button was kept just under HTC logo, so maybe they did similar on M8?

No as then I would have no buttons. Sorry but I buy a big phone for screen size and taking it with buttons is silly for me, especially that there is so much space around screen on M8 left unused. I can live with such buttons on my Nexus tablet but on the phone those two buttons are extra helpful in quick navigation.

I am using the gmd auto hide softkeys as well works great. I did go pro so that I could hide the the trigger but we'll worth the extra $ so I don't have a red bar at the bottom of my screen. I didn't bother to look at any other apps that may produce the same result for free but I like to support the devs that make a good app.
Xposed and immersive mode - expanded desktop.
Works fantastic
I got rid of my on screen buttons entirely and solely use PIE. It is fantastic. Adds more screen space and most customizing options as to what you would have on a nav bar. Plus you can set where and when it is accessed. Bought the HTC m8 with the intention of doing this from the beginning.

[App] FingerPrint Launcher

Use your Fingerprint to launch apps quickly. You can set each of your fingers to open different apps
Want to open an App real quick? Tired of using gestures? Want a faster way to open hidden App? The FingerPrint Launcher is the right one for you.
The FingerPrint Launcher allows you to open an app real quick with a touch of a button, anywhere and anytime. You just have to just select which finger launches which app*, then you hold down the menu button and let the app scan your finger and your done. The app is immediately launched.
You can replace your traditional app lock software which consumes a lot of battery with the help of this App. Most Launcher comes with a hide an app option. So just hide the app and set FingerPrint Launcher as the easiest way to open your hidden app** .Instead of using gestures to open an app which any one can do, the fingerprint remains your alone.
The app uses long press Home button to start scanning the fingerprint.
Should work with All Samsung Mobile with fingerprint sensor support having android OS 4.4.2+

Thank you for using the app. Well It's not the menu button but the home button, which is the centre physical button in the phone.

Well your supposed to get an option like this for first time users when you long press the Home button.
And I don't think the hardware keys can open S voice in new devices. On old devices it used to be double tap to open S voice
