Go to play store and browse thru My Apps look for SuperSU and Superuser if you find them uninstall them. Reboot the phone into Recovery and install SuperSU.
If that fails then:
Flash stock recovery and reboot into bootloader. Then flash custom recovery and then root
Thanks will try that.

Did you open your SuperSU app maybe you just need to update binaries. The app will prompt you to do so if it needs it.
Or just flash this zip in twrp recovery http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu

Does it still come packaged with SuperSU? I have that installed, but trying to run dSploit gives an error that Busybox is not installed. Trying to install Busybox itself gives me an error that it was unsuccessful. Can root users test this out and let me know if they're able to install Busybox?

Thanks! What's the difference between the one with the symlinks and the one without (in Layman's terms)?

The symlink on creates 'shortcuts' for common commands.
I can install busy box and im rooted with twrp recovery. I flashed SuperSU with twrp and than installed busy box. The first version of busy box I tried would not install so I tried another and it installed fine. There are multiple versions of busybox on playstore.
Dsploit
Hey does that that flashing zip file works in every phone or just in HTC one.
Please help
Just tried rooting the phone for the first time. Not too familiar with rooting. Only done a few phones before.
Unlocked boot loader on dev site. Installed TWRP just fine. Installing root package went fine, but I was unable to install busybox. It would either fail to install, or crash the phone and reboot. I found a root + busybox zip, flashed that, and then SuperSU said I wasn't rooted at all! Tried flashing the old SuperSU root package again, but I'm still not rooted anymore. Can someone give me a quick fix for this please?
Thanks.
Is there anyone that can give me some advice? It would be MUCH appreciated!
hi friend ..
i'm also new about rooting hTC (1st time).i'd like to help, but not good enough on explanation ..i root my hTC One on day 2nd bought it.Might some help from youtube and xda topics about unlock bootloader, s-off & rooting.
after u done unlock bootloader, just download twrp zip or cwm zip..extract it copy twrp file (img) on fastboot folder (on pc drive with fastboot files for unlock bootloader process).
right click img file to open as cmd. Then type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" then press enter..if u see word just like okay u can go back to bootloader mode, select recovery if u see word on top of screen while htc booting mode that's mean u already done flashing recovery.wait just 2 second, twrp should appear..u should download superSU or super user early put on ur sd then u flash it use twrp..check ur root status use root checker or titanium backup.lastly u tap on superSU or super user icon to update binary (for this method i'm not sure u need to update or not) might somebody got any best answer..
sorry for bad english & too simple methods.

I did, but when I opened it, it says I wasn't rooted as if I just installed it from the play store without a root.

OK so my HTC one is unlocked. I flashed twrp and copied super su to internal memory. I backed up everything I needed in recovery then unzipped super su and rebooted phone. I downloaded a root checker and got a message saying I wasn't rooted. I opened super su and it said a binary file is missing. What should I do? How should I do it. This is my first time trying to root but I've done a lot of reading on the subject but feel I should ask because I don't want to mess something up. Do I erase twrp in cmd and try rooting from scratch or is there another way? Any suggestions and help us greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Don't think that will do anything, it just needs a new binary it always does this.
If all else fails with supersu you can just install superuser and use their binarys, it still roots your phone.
youtube. com/watch?v=rRkAHw_GmIs (sorry won't let me post the link)
I used this website to root my HTC One, and tried to verify my root access
Could someone tell me what I (the video) did was wrong?
The only different thing I did other than what was shown on the video was using 2.6.3.0 twrp recovery instead of 2.5.0.0 and that was because I was unable to use the touchscreen.
Note: I am not running Kitkat

flash latest (2.46) supersu.zip from custom recovery
I have the same problem, too.
I've flashed SuperSu2.46.zip in CWM recovery
Galaxy S5 (G900H) ANG3 Kitkat
And I reflashed again that zip, and it didn't fix the problem
