Im on the latest BadBoys 4.4.4 rom. I would like to remove the OTA nag. I've done it before but never on a new HTC. Usually you freeze or delete an app using titanium and delete the current ota from some system folder. I just cant find which program or folder to freeze/delete from.
Anybody know where/what I need to mod to get rid of this??
Thanks
just put a freeze on the "Updater" system app will take care of it.
I will try that. Thanks

No, I cound not find an "Updater" app in titanium or in System/app . However I did find a solution HERE .
When you look for the apps (I used ES file explorer) replace the "VZW" with "SPCS".
This worked like a charm for me :good:

Hi, Daneshm90, nice to see you here. I guess he has root, since both apps require root to run.
It's strange, because I use rootexplorer and I am able to delete the unwanted apps. however, I noted that if you boot into recovery, there are some messages saying installing default apk files (?) before the recovery screen came up.
Not sure if the recovery is restoring these apps.

does anyone know a version of titanium which can function and uninstall them accordingly ? thanks
Hello friends!
I am presently running rooted Simplicity 2.2.1 on XXJVU with Semaphore 2.5.0bm kernel. After installing this ROM, I installed Titanium Backup Pro and then recovered all my backed up apps, data and settings. Everything was working fine until yesterday when I found that Titanium Backup Pro was gone. So after searching for it and finally unable to trace it, I tried installing it again, both from the apk file that I had in my SD card and from the market, but it failed everytime giving an error message saying "Out of Space: Titanium Backup could not be installed. Free up some space and try again"
This is strange because I have a hell lot of space available and still it is showing this error. I tried installing other softwares and there wasnt any problem with that. This message is flashed only when I try installing TB.
Can you guys please help me to come out of this situation because TB is a must have software for me?
Thank you.
Try looking at last few comment on below thread, they might help you.

Thanks. Had same problem and deleting file /data/app/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup-1.odex:good:
For those of you who have used Lucky Patcher for Titanium Backup, removing the .odex will not solve the issue.
The solution is to remove the patch with Lucky Patcher:
In Lucky Patcher click on Titanium Backup > Open Menu of Patches > Remove ODEX with Changes!
If you have uninstalled the app before removing the patch, you will not be able to update it.
In this case just install the same version as before (this will work), then remove the patch and upgrade the app.
hope this helps

You are right, I removed the odex file but it still doesnt allow me to install the updated version as I had patched the previous version with lucky patcher. I followed all that you said but I am still not able to install an updated version. After uninstalling the older version, when I try to install the new version, it gives "Application not installed"... Now what?

Anyone else have any other ideas?

which rom you are using
so I uninstalled it before trying the luckypatcher method. and I deleted some titanium folder that was empty. I rebooted and still not luck. I just kept trying to install and eventually it did it, after about 10 times.
I've been in this scenario heaps, different apps. almost like custom roms don't uninstall apps properly. I'm on omega note 2.
Even I also faced da same problem.. u have to wipe data/format n dalvic cache n restart da rom

if your mobile is rooted download root explorer then go to data\app then delete it from there .... and you didnt find it there you will find it in system\app and delete it from there and make a restart and you may re-install it
Or search in play store for root uninstaller, those apps can uninstall system apps.
But rootexplorer is the best file manager.also for modifying flashable zips like roms or theme where u want to delete or add apps in the rom.just extract and zip it up when u are finished modifying the rom.
If u delete the apps directly from system/apps then use "SDmaid"(app from play store) to clean out crap, leftovers from apps u delete.
thanks for quick reply , after getting root explorer on and changing permissions for solid explorer i finally managed to delete it
but now it will not install from Play...it says "error - incompatible update ?
shall i just stick with root explorer ?

reflashing is not the solution . try oi file manager it is awesome
will do !
thx again for your time
Yeah, stick with rootexplorer, clearly the best, oi manager is also good, but in my opinion it lacks some of the features rootexplorer got.
If u want an innovative filemanager, then try androexplorer, there is a free version without root and zipping, but u get the idea what it's about with the free one and read on how to use it. I use it for moving files around.
haha guess wot..... elite 1.3 came out yesterday so i updated & flashed and OI is now the new file manager
sorted !!
thanks for your help guys, appreciated

Good day, friends.
First of all, sorry for my poor English, i`ll try to speak shortly.
I have Xperia T LT30p running on stock f/w 7.0.A.1.303, bootloader is factory locked, rooted with this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460) method.
I deleted some apps from SYSTEM/APP folder throug ROOT EXPLORER, not so much, i deleted Chrome, asian keyboards, power-saving mode and something else, APKs deleted successfully, they are no longer existing in SYSTEM/APP folder, but to my surprise the programs that i deleted are still in the system, they are still on phone, i see them in general menu, they are not deleted at all, and they are running and successfully workable! Maybe you can help me, how can i completely delete the apps that i don`t need ? Only the asian keyboards are deleted, i can`t choose it in text input.
Thank you.
Download titanium backup from the market and use that to delete system apps on a rooted phone
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
OK, i`ll try to do it with TB. But may i ask, why i can`t do it with regular way ?

Using titanium backup is the normal way I do it...all I can imagine is that you are deleting the apk but if it is already installed it may have some other files linked elsewhere...
Also, make sure you have the system/app folder as R/W not R/O.

SYSTEM/APP is on r/w, of course.
This is strange, because APKs are deleted, 100%, and only the links can`t make the program works propertly, but they are working!
But anyway, i`ll try to do like you said.

If I remember correctly, there is another folder in system somewhere ( I think on x10 it was system/user/app/customization) where the system will install user apps from, if they have not been deleted from here too they will be reinstalled! Try this: pick one of they apps you could not get rid of and use root explorer to "search" for the apk name, that will show you the locations.
I am quite sure once you have deleted the one in customization it will not come back once uninstalled.
Edit: system/etc/customisation

Use something like Titanium backup and freeze System Updates MUC. That will prevent them from coming through.

Use TIBU. It will show up in the list of system apps. I think the file is called com.innopath.active care.
