[Q] Touch screen issues after replacement - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys
i just replaced my cracked screen with a new one (which seems not quite original!!) and i'm totally sure the the touch functionality is lower than the what it should be ( as of not original screen)
is there any way to increase the touch sensitivity to have a better touch on this screen?!!
another question! as you look at your z1 you will see the screen has a little redish tint in some angles and a unique pattern when the screen is off and the borders of screen is much more black than the screen. but mine, the screen is more black than the borders (the borders are not black as before in angles exactly like iphone 5 black )and no redish screen and no patterns! is this a terrible screen ?!
sorry for my bad english

It's same screen but from difrently manufacturer.
I have Z1 and my friend had one.
And we didn't have same screen, same camera, nothing. Everything was slightly difrent.
And yes, his scren wad redish, my is deep black

small dot on lcd

today i have noticed that there is a very small black dot on lcd, but i dont think its a dead pixel, because its visible when the screen is off, like a little dust under screen !
is it possible that dust goes under hd7 screen ?
how can i fix that ?
I have the same issue. But I leave it as it is ´cause I don´t want to make it worse and in normal operating it doesn´t bug me so much.
what is it ? is it dust or dead pixel do you think ?
but its annoying in white background
Well indeed I think it is a dead black pixel since it doesn't move like dust.
It doesn't disturb since the display never is fully cleaned :-]
My first HD7 had dust under the screen straight out the box, 2 specks by the arrow up the top right, I exchanged it as it also had a gap on the battery cover so I could see the SIM card.
replacement was perfect, so a bit of dodgy quality control at HTC by the looks of it..

hi John.
I have HD7 and the battery cover has a gap- as you described...
where did you send your hd7 in order to be replaced?
Did you send it dirtectly in HTC's?
or did you address to the shop you bought it?
how many days did they spend to replace your mobile?
Thanks for your help
the small dots under the screen is not dust specs.
its actually the insulators builted in the screen..
if u place the screen under then sun with a black screen (lcd off) u can see there is actually quite a number of them.
they are visible if u tilt it to a certain angle..
i place a matte type screen protector and its not visible anymore.
anyway i still hate the tarnished camera button.
nevertheless, my kick stand starts to paint-pill even though i have not even use them. =(
but i still love wp7.

I know what are you saying, but this dot is different from them, its not on that grid, its only one and when the background is white its visible as dark color
but i dont think its a dead pixel too, it is a little far from lcd and seems to be under the front glass !
I couldnt do anything with it

HD7 display is naturally white or black?

Hey everyone,
i have an interesting question about hd7 LCD: are the pixels black or white when voltage is applied? In a "normally white" LCD, the screen will be white if no voltage is applied to any of the pixels. In contrast, a "normally black" LCD will be black if no voltage is applied.
Does anyone know which mode of operation HD7 use? Is it a function of being TN+Film, P/MVA, or IPS? it would just be nice to know.

Just curious byt why would this be important ?
are you applying that because of so...the light or dark theme might be more suitable..depending ?

many factors . HD7 seems to use a TN + film display . Unlike the iphone 3GS which is using IPS LCD
1) battery life
in Normally "white" LCDs , no power is applied to display white, Black consumes power
in Normally "black" LCDs , no power is applied to display black, White consumes power
2) Screen protectors
I have no concrete research on this but certain screen protectors for wp7 phone may display better with white theme/ black text because screen protectors with a textured matt screen tend to blur white text. Like wise the opposite is true for screen protectors which are non anti glare
3) longevity of screen
of course when no power is applied to the screen for display of white or black , yr screen is less likely to burn out faster
I had HTC 7 Pro and now Titan. Both SLCDs, as I assume the HD7 is also. When I had the 7 Pro I looked in to this and got the impression white would be the correct answer here. I looked in to this because of the theoretical battery save. I never tested what is the real difference though.
On amoled screen the natural state would be black.

I believe TN display and SLCD is different
SLCD is more power efficient, has deeper blacks and contrast and it has a few types like IPS , ect

Yes you are correct. I was on my mobile yesterday and didnt look up what panel HD7 has, I only assumed it is the same as 7Pro and Titan, but its not.
Only the trophy and HTC titan/ titan 2 uses SLCD.
the rest use TN display + film
If i am, not wrong , though the newer upcoming Win 8 phones may use SLCD 2 or Super Amoled HD

Screen brighter in higher part of screen

I noticed that my screen seems a little bit brighter in higher part of the screen, i repeat it's barely noticeable, but it's seems so... It's due to screen illlumination structure that comes from high part of the screen? Is in yours devices the same?
How the hellck do people notice these things?
It's only noticeable in white and light color background
Anyone can try?

That s because of LCD screen
It s normal
However if send pic u will get better opinion

It's too hard to notice if i take a pic, as soon i lean slightly camera, the image change tonality... Maybe it could be fixed by software update, with One X , later softer version fixed screen uniformity also...
Yup in black screen upper screen seems brighter.........sply in pull down notification menu...

I have some slight darkening in the bottom left corner that's most noticeable on medium-low brightness against white backgrounds. It only bothers me when it's slow at work and I have time to harp on things. Otherwise, it's pretty unnoticeable in regular use.

Z1 display replacement - which display to buy?

Cracked my screen, don't have a warranty
I was thinking of ordering the display myself and replace the screen in a mobile shop by an expert
problem is, which display to order?
for example:
http://www.witrigs.com/oem-complete...rts-for-sony-xperia-z1-black#customerreviews1
http://www.etradesupply.com/sony-xperia-z1-l39h-lcd-screen-and-digitizer-assembly.html
30$ difference in price? what gives? also do i have to buy the lcd glass or it comes with screens listed above?
i know sony makes Z1 with several different types of display, how to know which one is the one with better viewing angles or the one without the yellow hue?
i am using C6903 - display is cracked at the top near the notification light and screen doesnt register touches in the upper area (i cant pull the notification menu down)
tnx

Pink hue tilting the screen

I noticed that tilting the screen if my S10+ make the white turn a little bit into pink... anyone else? It's really really barely noticeable. I have leaved on original screen protector and since to me for now is fitted perfectly on the screen, I don't want to take it off only to check that it's the cause of this kind of "rainbow effect ". Someone else could check it?
Sorry for my english...
Yeah, noticed the same. My S9+ don't have it. Also S9+ screen is is more white compared to S10
Have peeled screenprotector of but stays the same. Screens looks better though without protector.
My S9+ also have more "white" screen compared to this S10+, however screen shifted a little bit to blue/green if tilted...
I've noticed it as well on my S10e without the screen protector. Not that noticeable and not as bad as the Pixel 3 but once you see it, you can't un-see it
Could be wrong but OLED/AMOLED have this trait - not issue but rather if screen is tilted it will have a red/pink hue - same when I had a Mate 20 Pro and while the same its less noticeable on S10+ ( better panel maybe )
Blacks are spot on but whites aren't perfect.
So i think i will leave the screen protector on until i'll have to replace it...
I have this issue too, TMobile US. But only towards the bottom portion of the screen, the top part is fine. Which leads me to believe it's a defect in my particular case. It's very distracting. Also fingerprint sensor works whenever it feels like.
Have to return it now.

Mine is different, i notice this pink/purple hue only tilting the screen more than 30 deg in any direction, if i look at it straight, whites are perfect.
Mine is the opposite , I keep blue light filter on all the time and the Samsung screen gaurd
When tilt i get a greener tinge
Just looks normal, tilt any screen or look at it from oblique angle things look differently
