If you wanna be normaly screen size (not original screen size of Htc Desire 510) than download this apk to your phone:

NOMone Resolution Changer (its free)
Open the app and you see
"Width" "Height" "DPI"
Change Width to 720
Change Height to 1280
Change DPI to 312
and click on apply
Or second way:
Open the app
Click on "Select device template"
and choose Motorola Moto X or Htc One X
Click on apply and you done
If you dont like this sizes,dont worry,apk will restore stock sizes after 10 sec and after 1 minutes too.

Use this all the time (different app, same effect) but it can seriously eat ram depending how far up you go. While it makes stuff look prettier, it can slow down your device.
Also our aspect ratio is weird. 720x1280 causes a border effect. Use 768x1366 at 300dpi. Looks great and uses the same amount of ram.
I don't know if it's just me or not but everything seems tiny on my screen, including the HTC home,back, and recent apps button.

Yes.
I've done this with a different app, but now my widgets & some other stuff seem rather disproportional.
Any way to fix this?
Other than this, however. The 720P looks much better on this phone. Thanks for the tip.

UPDATE: The biggest problem so far that I'm experiencing is that I cannot use my favorite keyboard. The buttons are out of place. Too big, can't fit the space allocated. SwiftKey & TouchPal are both out.
All the resolutions dont suit it they are all too big
After changing resolution, reboot your phone. The resolution will stick but everything else will resize to normal. If it doesn't, lower your DPI. All issues regarding "stuff size" should be resolved by lower DPI. Experiment, you'll find what works for you.
But again, RAM is an issue. I've asked pattyboi to adapt Swap into his kernel so I can test out RamExpander. With Swap enabled we should see a bit of a performance boost, but it can be risky if you don't know what your doing. Until we have a Swap capable kernel (and it actually works) were stcuk with what we got. From what I've read up on it, Swap seems like a viable solution to many performance issues with the 510
Okay so I'm really puzzled about how you can just change the resolution, how does it work??? Does the screen have a resolution more than the stock 480-800? I dont understand

I actually realized this since the first day of using the tablet... I noticed that the screen actually got stretched when you set your tablet in landscape mode and squished in while in portrait mode.
I suspect that the OS is running at a wrong native resolution... Does anyone have similar observation?

I noticed the same issue. Circular icons look especially bad. Funny enough, the tablet on the packaging also has a distorted screen. In Youtube, videos have black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. This shouldn't be the case, as 1024x600 is a 16:9 aspect ratio, and videos are typically 16:9.

Yup, installed luna icon pack and looks horrible. Same as letters in Google keyboard.

According to the images I pulled, the nominal screen resolution is 600x1024, which is also the hardware spec. But the actual image you see is the same aspect ratio as a display with a resolution of 600x1080. This suggests that the display pixels aren't actually square. I tried a couple of resolution changers in the Play Store but they just scale the display without addressing the issue.
I found an old Google Groups post asking about a cheap tablet with non-square pixels, and the answer in 2012 wasn't very encouraging. I wonder if something could be done through an Xposed module?
I lowered the dpi to 150 just to test and same result...

Anyone know how to change horizonal and vertical dpi independently?
Apparently the dpi is 160 normally.
You can set it higher and the icons will look less stretched but the dpi seems correct.
Yeah, this is sadly typical in cheap chinese tablets. What really surprises me is that almost nobody talks about this, and most of the people don't even notice it even after pointing it to them
I've also noticed that this screen has what I think is a slow redraw rate (i. e. painting line by line from the top) which cause funky scroll effects, especially in dark backgrounds in portrait. Grab the tablet with the buttons on top and scroll quickly in the Kindle Store and you'll see it
I watched a video on the Fire for the first time, and while this isn't exactly a scientific test, the video did not seem stretched out or distorted to me. I tested with a second video and it too seemed to display with the correct aspect ratio. If so, then that suggests that the display, controller, and drivers are all capable of rendering an image that is not distorted, and that it may be an issue with the rendering of the Android UI.
Up, i would love having a fix for this.

Just got one of the $50 Fire tablets delivered and this is one of the first things I noticed. Look at a circular icon when it's in portrait and when it's in landscape and it's really obvious. I noticed it on the Pinterest icon.
If this really is a hardware issue, I don't suppose there's any way to fix it? If not I'll probably return it and get my money back.

Idk.. I don't really notice it maybe it's just my perspective the seem good to me.
It didn't jump out at me, but yes, the screen is definitely wider than 1024/600. Maybe it is 16:9.
I did notice the weird scrolling. Perhaps it's refreshed in some interlaced fashion?
I've noticed that some people just don't see it. Coincidentally in my case it was the same people that watch 4:3 content stretched in their 16:9 TVs and are happy with it

The incorrect aspect ratio is really distracting. I hope there's a way to fix it now that custom ROMs are available.
Hey guys! Does anyone else have a problem with scrolling. When I scroll down a page it looks like the left side is scrolling slower than the right. So for example, if you scroll down on a page full of horizontal lines or text, all the text slopes to the right until the page stops. I'm not sure if this is normal because the tablets so cheap or if its just mine?

Can't complaint it's rather solid for it's price imo.
Aghh glad its not just mine then. I'm loving the fire! Though it was going to be rubbish but really surprised!
before i buy this tablet, i need to know if it is possible to change the screen format from the stock 4:3 to the more useful 16:9 in a custom rom or kernel or whatever? i didn't see this asked anywhere, and it is black friday, so i need to find out quickly as i need to make a buying decision. thanks for any help!

What do you mean change it? It's physically and natively a 4:3 tablet.
However you can use the tablet in which ever orientation you please.
If you turn it 90 degrees to landscape mode it becomes a 16:9 tablet, but you can t physically move the buttons.
You're better off buying the tab S if you want native 16:9.

what i mean, is like on a computer, you can change formats of videos or games or what not, from 4:3 to 16:9, so you don't have the large black bars on the screen while viewing one of them.
Er?? Then you either have a totally distorted picture (all things are too high in relation to their width), or you must crop the left and right sides to fit the picture into the 4:3 screen.
If that is what you want... but it is not very reasonable to want it...

What you ask doesn't make sense, you can't physically alter the ratio of something without distorting the image or cutting part of it off.. If a video is 16:9 it must be played back at 16:9 regardless of the physical dimensions of the device.
If you don't like black bars then you would have to use a player such as mx player that allows the image to be stretched to full screen.

You can't not even a computer in proper look. From 4:3 ratio resolution to 16:9 ratio resolution will make everything look stretching and distorted.
I really don't like sending tall 19:9 aspect ratio photos to my friend that has 16:9 phone. I already disabled the notch and enabled the navigation bar so that reduced the screen a bit, so that's now maybe a 18:9, but my friend still sees black bars on to the sides of her phone. Any more tricks like this, any way to open an app with a different resolution? I don't have root and I heard it's a complicated process to get it, so I would prefer not to do that.

Yeah, maybe try using Tasker? I'm not sure if it allows you to use commands like that if it's not rooted. If it does, you could just run that command when the app's open and the revert it once you close

I used to use this method with mostly all of my devices in the past: LG G3, Galaxy S5, Amazon Kindle Fire tablets (including 8'' and 10''). All of them work just fine. But not this Pixel5!
Using the "adb shell wm size" command. I changes the screen resolution of my devices down a notch, for example from 1440p to 1080p, or 1080p to 800p and so on. Then I adjust the density accordingly. They all turn out the Ok-ish screen resolution and have a much better GPU performance for gaming.
My current S10 has the native changing resolution from Samsung, So I don't use it for my S10.
But with the Pixel 5, there is a problem. The camera cut - out on the screen become so weird and placed on the off center position, and the Pixel 5 is unusable
I really love to use my pixel 5 at 720p or 900p, and I believe the Adreno 620 (snapdragon 765G) on the Pixel 5 will handle game at the lower resolution much much better.
Does anyone have a fix for this? please help!

Why are you not changing the resolution in the settings like you do on the Samsung? A quick search suggest the Pixel 5 has such an option. You're best doing it the official way to guarantee everything will work correctly.
Because you're changing the resolution and DPI through what is basically a developer option, I think whatever is handling the camera cutout (An app? The WM? Android?) is not updating its position and that causes it to be misplaced. Therefore, I dont think you find a simple fix for this. Sorry.

You must be mistaken the Pixel 5 with other phones, since we don't have the option for such a changing the resolution in the settings.
If you mean the display size? It's just a density change, not the resolution.
