I just bought the Droid Turbo and I encrypted my phone with a PIN. Now when my phone is in between the screen off and the 5 minute lock time for the pin access, if you press the power button it automatically goes to the home screen. On my 5 other Android phones in between the screen off and the PIN lock out time if you press the power button you still have to slide to unlock. Is there any way to get this back? Or a 3rd party app that will let me do this without disabling the security PIN? I have tried several KitKat and Lollipop lock screen apps but they all remove the pin lock security. Thanks for any help. If I need to explain the issue better let me know.
I know in tasker that is called the keyguard. Try a search for enabling that (Since tasker is like $7, lol).

I have the Tasker app but, I cant figure out how to use it to set the slide to unlock with PIN security option. Can you point me in the right direction/ give me the code to write to make it work? Thanks!

Here is a link to what I want to do with Tasker/ Secure Settings app: http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...ll-pattern-lock-gets-activated-after-interval
I would appreciate any help with getting this setup on my phone. Thanks!
Setup a tasker task.
Secure settings Keyguard ON.
Secure settings enable PIN.
See if that helps.

Whenever I set up my phone with any sort of security, it keeps going back to swipe to unlock. If I try the PIN option, it only asks for a PIN when it first boots up. Once its up and running and I go to lock and unlock the screen, it says swipe to unlock. It does the same when I set up pattern, face, face with voice, pin, and password security. It always just goes back to swipe to unlock. I got this phone for my girl and I'm trying to convince her to switch to Android because she's a avid Apple user and uses PIN on her phone now and it works fine. She'll never accept this new phone if I can't even get this simple feature to work for her. The phone is stock no root nothing. All I did was throw some apps in for her. Am I missing something here? This works fine on my LG Optimus G Pro that's rooted but I can't for the life of me figure out why it wont work on the Active that's not rooted. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks guys.
Okay it seems to ask for the PIN when I leave the phone idle for a few minutes. Isn't it supposed to work as soon as I lock and unlock? Say I lock the screen and set it down for a sec and decide to pick it back up again to unlock it, shouldn't it ask for the PIN right away? If I don't give it time it doesn't bother asking to verify PIN. This phone is great and I'm so tempted to get a regular S4 for myself but issues like this irritate me to no end.

This is strange, I'd like my phone to do just that. Require a PIN if I leave it locked for an hour, and default to swipe if it's within the hour so I can use lock screen widgets.
Could you get the swipe to appear when you lock it with the power key, or just when you left it for a minute?

From what I understand the timmer on the option my-blue-snog-box mentioned doesn't start till the lockscreen is active so it'll goto the swipe screen if you hit the power button or you leave it sitting and and autolocks.

Do you have Tasker? You can do it with the Secure Settings plugin (might need donate version).

there r 2 settings...screen off timeout and lock timeout after screen off.
the longest lock timeout is 30 minutes.
if the screen is off, pressing the home button before lock timeout will on the screen without any lock, not even swipe.
under settings, screen timeout is under display section while lock timeout is under lock screen section.
Hey @staverton, PM me. I'll make you a Tasker profile (or a little app so you don't need Tasker if you don't have it), but you need to let me know exactly what you want it to do.

The stock 5.0 notification screen in nice, but kind of pointless on the Moto X since the Touchless controls do a much better job.
The problem is that it now takes two touches to get to the home screen where once used to suffice. Anyone figure out a way to bypass this yet?
On Verizon, so no root unfortunately
If you swipe up on the lock screen it will go to the homescreen with one swipe.

In Lollipop, you can set your security level to "none" instead of "swipe" as long as your guest account is disabled. If guest account is enabled, the "none" option isn't available.
You still have to swipe past the notification screen every time you hit the power button....

Huh? I'm talking about how to remove the swipe requirement. Just click on the aqua colored avatar in the upper right corner in quick settings. A dialog box appears and in the lower left is the option to "remove guest" account. Once you do that, "none" appears as option, in addition to the others (swipe, PIN, pattern) as a means of unlocking the device.
But I want to have PIN lock The Smart Lock setting will turn the pin off at home, but doesn't remove the need to swipe the Notifications screen away.

Annoyance
I agree with the original poster. This is unnecessary and annoying added step (swipe) to access the homescreen from a pattern, pin, password locks.
Hey all,
I may be completely missing something but I can't seem to get the fingerprint unlock on my AT&T S6 to work consistently. I've gone through the process and set up my fingerprint, but when i click the power button and back on, it asks me to swipe rather than use the fingerprint. At the bottom on the lockscreen I get a "swipe to unlock" message and when i touch/swipe the little water globule appears. I have to swipe to the right to unlock. What's extra interesting is when I reboot my phone, for first unlock (and only first) it asks for fingerprint unlock and unlocks appropriately by me placing my thumb on the sensor. Here's some additional information that may help:
1. Under lock screen and security settings, "Screen lock type" is set to "Fingerprints"
2. Under "Fingerprints" i have Fingerprint 1 which is my thumb
3. Web sign-in and Verify Samsung are currently Off
4. The problem is the same whether i use the power button on the right side of the phone, or press and hold home button, or single press home button then try to use thumbprint
Am i completely stupid and missing something? Seems totally weird to me that on first reboot and first unlock attempt it requires fingerprint, but any subsequent unlock is swipe only?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Thanks a lot for this, it was driving me crazy trying to figure out why it wasn't working.:good:
My AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge, when finger print lock is enabled, and the screen goes off, is allowing me to swipe to get into the device as if fingerprint lock was not set. Is this a glitch or should I return the device.
Secondly, in settings, I'm used to everything on one settings listing, not this swiping to the side to access different portions of the settings menu, can this be changed? It's not like this on the Sprint S6 Edge, which I have had no issues with. The finger print lock works like it is supposed to. You wake the device, and it asked you to use your finger print to access the device. On this device, despite me having enabled finger print lock. it just lets me swipe on the screen.
Thanks
Go to secure lock settings and change the secure lock time.

Thanks to all who replied! I should have been able to figure this out but I guess I'm getting senile!
Using "Swipe" as the "Screen Lock Type" deletes all fingerprints for app autho!
I'm coming from several previous Notes. Most recently the 8. They made a small change to the settings menu. In the 8 the "Biometrics" settings were within the "Lock Screen" menu . Now on the 9 "Biometrics and Security" have their own category. But they have also changed something major it seems...and I hope I'm wrong. When you select "Swipe" as the "Screen Lock Type" it has to "Remove Data" and delete the recorded fingerprint(s). It makes it seem like that if you use them for apps you have to come back and redo the fingerprints for that purpose. But as soon as I do that it automatically switches the lock type back to "Fingerprint". It a vicious cycle.
I have always only used "Swipe" as my unlock method. I have also always liked using finger print for authentication with whatever apps utilize that. I'm pretty bummed right now. Hopefully I'm not the only one with this issue and you guys can dig in and see if I am missing something.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hmmm.... It never affected me on the 8 with Oreo. I just lost the ability today when I switched to the 9
Well, I ended up resorting to using "Swipe" as my unlock method and I just won't be using fingerprint within any of the apps. Pretty disappointing. Unless anyone can come up with a workaround.
seem like there is no options. anyone can help?
I have the same issue and am looking for a remedy. They actually took away the option to have swipe to unlock but keep the biometric data for the Note 9. I use swipe to unlock on my Note 8 and have biometric data for banking apps, etc. But can't do that on the Note 9. This is a definite downgrade and hoping that samsung or someone comes up with a fix for it.

Wow,so basically now one has to have a secure phone lock or one cannot use biometrics for apps?

Exactly - you can't use biometrics in other apps unless you have a secure lock actually running on your phone. Want to change it to swipe to unlock? They make you delete all of your biometrics. Frustrating.
I have been looking for a work-around to this issue. Thought maybe a lockscreen app that offered swipe to open would work. Have yet to find one that has the option available though. Plus I don't want to have to deal with another app running on top of everything just to have a swipe to open lockscreen. Hope Samsung fixes this issue soon!

You're on your own here,as this isn't in the Google Play Store any more:

I'm not sure if this will do what you're looking for,I've used it in the past on phones that didn't have a "None" option, requiring at minimum,a swipe gesture to open.

So I installed and....... this worked! Thanks a ton!
I DL'd, installed "no lock". Set it to "Locking Enabled". Went to my lockscreen settings and set my lockscreen to come up immediately upon the display turning off. Hit the power button to get off the AOD and to the lock screen, and lo and behold I am at the swipe to unlock screen just as it used to be on my Note 8. Swipe to unlock works perfectly, and my biometric data is still preserved for my misc apps I use fingerprint to unlock (banking apps, etc).
Again, thanks a TON!

Glad to hear it! :good:
I myself do not use any type of phone lock, but, the locking on a per-app basis makes sense, for whatever app you deem necessary.
The obvious come to mind (Banking/email/messages) so,I definitely see the need.
This may change my mind,as I cannot stand to use a general lockscreen/PIN/pattern/fingerprint/etc..... to wake it up each time I use it.

I also do not use or like a secure lockscreen (pin/pattern/fingerprint/etc) on my lockscreen. But I do like to swipe to unlock only to keep accidental unlocks from happening in pocket, etc. With the swipe to unlock that keeps those accidental unlocks down to basically zero. However, I do utilized secure locking on banking apps, etc. I use these daily, many times a day normally, and would never want them to be able to be accessed by someone who got my phone somehow. So having those securely locked (I use fingerprint with PIN as my backup) is a huge plus for me.
Again, can't thank you enough. This solved a frustrating problem for me and I am sure many others!

Thanks KOLIOSIS for the solution. I used this app during the time there was no "none" option too. The downside is that the CPU will not sleep, thus drain the battery.
I'm willing to explore this further, but I'm stuck.
The basic lock security I have to add in order to register my FP is pattern lock. After that I followed the steps as you stated:
1) Set the No lock app to "lockscreen enabled"
2) Set the "Lock automatically" to "immediately"
Anything else I miss out? Appreciate the help.
Thanks~!

There is an app to monitor this. Can't remember it now.
The CPUs and batteries of todays may not be that affected even if it doesn't sleep.. I'm not sure. I am willing to try this out and see if I'm ok with the batt life.
Could you direct me with the detail steps to get this setup up please?

All I did was download the apk then add my fingerprints. Done. It switches the screen unlock method to "fingerprint, pin" like usual but I guess this app overrides that and allows me to unlock with just a swipe
