For those lucky ones who already got their Nexus 4! I'm still on the waiting list... damn you Google!!!
http://www.androidcentral.com/lg-nexus-4-qualifies-50gb-free-boxnet-cloud-storage
As it's being sold primarily by Google through the Play devices store, it's easy (and accurate) to think of the Nexus 4 as a Google device. But it's still an LG-made phone, and as such qualifies for 50GB of free space on Box.net, thanks to a partnership between manufacturer and cloud storage provider.
To claim your free space, simply log into the Box.net app from your Nexus 4, and upon loading the app for the first time, you should see the message above, informing you that your cloud storage allowance has been upped. And as part of a time-limited deal, Box is also allowing you to share your good fortune with friends or co-workers, giving them access to 50GB too.
The promotion runs until Dec. 31, so you've got plenty of time to bag some extra bits, and free up some of the Nexus 4's precious (and limited) internal storage space. Check the Google Play link above to grab the official Box.net app for Android.

Box.net is separate from drop box right? If so I need to get my hands on a N4 before then so I'll have 50gb from DB and 50gb from box.net lol

Correct, they are completely separate entities.
Box.com sux so it doesn't really matter
Good to know. I already have 50GB from webOS so this would make it 100GB.

Yeah I don't think it lets you add it up like that either. I think what you can do is register it to another email address like a separate account. They won't be associated, but you'll have two separate 50GB accounts and technically 100GB of total online cloud storage .

I have 50 gigs too on Box from a previous promotion (I forget what it was) but I was unfortunate to get my hands on a Nexus 4 so I cant get this promotion
...unless someone else would be fortunate enough to do it for me? =)

I don't think that this promotion stacks. Also this promotion was available from long time for all lg android smartphones

Sweet, I hopefully they come back in stock soon...
Am I right in thinking this would expire after a year or two???

The 50 GB doesn't stack, I tried on my account which already had the 50GB upgrade from a previous promo.
Wtf 100 meg limit on uploads? What's the point with all that space. I wish dropbox would come up with this promotion, obviously they dont need to though to be popular.
Downloaded Box for the free space, but the service sucks.
Dropbox all the way!

It's probably just a hold on the credit card to see if it's valid. The money will be back on the card after a few days.

Is this mentioned anywhere in google terms ?
She won't even pay for my whatsapp now Wtf :crying:

These kind of holds are normal when you add a card on-line pretty much anywhere.
It's not a charge. It will go away. (unless you accidentally actually bought something else)
I understand that parents (and you) don't necessarily have familiarity with how that works, and that's okay - but it's nothing to get bent out of shape over. You could always just Google it - someone else in the history of the Internet has probably already freaked out about it or wondered what it was and was answered by people who knew.

Its googles wallet's rules. Whenever you add a new card they will take $1 (equivalent to Rs.50) as a confirmation. They either return return it after a day few days or once you have done a purchase with the wallet. For me, i got a refund. You can show her the FAQ in the Google wallet support page. They explained it pretty well.

Tell her to chill! This happens on every kind of online app store! The money will be refunded. (Not sure if it will be if the card is blocked). And I hope 50 Rs is not a big deal for you. Or you could do some self imposed punishment to recover it...

Ah the wonders of generation X and modern technology...
This is normal, nearly every pay service that asks you to enter credit card details does this. It also happens for direct-account linking in Europe. Paypal, for instance, writes off a small ammount (5 cents when I did this) to check if the link is valid, and then sends it back within 48 hours.
This IS mentioned when you link the credit card as the next-step procedure. You should've read it more carefully.
I know. My mom also freaks out about this stuff. Here show this -
http://support.google.com/wallet/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2701024
This would be enough.
Guys, I added my debit card to Play Store on 9th January. It's 25 days now and even I was charged Rs. 50 back then which hasn't been refunded yet. Called up my bank and they say this charge is not refundable. Seriously? I never agreed for paying this. Who refunds this back? Google does? Or the bank? I've been charged one or two bucks from PayPal before but it was always refunded back in time. I'd rather spend 50 on a deserving app than for simply adding my card.

This is for those that have to RMA their device like me and got an expected 3-4 week delivery schedule. Post the date here that you RMA'd, then post again when shipped, to give an actual expected timeframe of when to expect a shipment. Please quote your original when posting "shipped" to make it easier to track. This will undoubtedly fluctuate around now and the next couple weeks. So, let's keep this thread going, so people 3 weeks from now still have a realistic idea of when to receive a shipping confirmation.
We all hate to RMA a device we just received, so this isn't a whining thread. This is just a way to form some sort of objective information.
I start first. I RMA'd today November the 6th at 11 AM eastern time. Expected delivery shows 3-4 weeks.

That can be found in defects section. This is for RMA information on date filed and date shipped. Everyone has their reasons. This is information only to provide objective data. This is not a thread to judge for their reasons. I hope everyone can respect that, and keep this thread to its purpose.

Because as I stated this is to form objective data. Just facts on estimation of RMA process. There are those that ridicule people for their reasons to RMA. This will not become a thread of judgment. You can go to defects and say what's wrong and you're doing an RMA.

I was going to say that the 50 GB box account I and a lot of others signed up for last November after we got our Nexus 4's must have been phantoms. There was another thread on this started about 2 weeks ago too as another genius discovered then that he got a free 50 GB box account with the Nexus 4 and thought he would be the first to share it.
Sweet thanks for the free 50GB
Box has had these around since the days I was on a Thunderbolt. I got in on that one because of a quick edit to the build.prop to mimic an LG phone and there's the 50 GB once I signed in. Got another 50 GB with the Nexus 4. That's two accounts, not 100 GB in one.
It workes like a charm! Thanks buddy!
