(Q) is the T-Mobile note 4 compatible international Roms? - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On the s4 and s5 the T-Mobile versions were compatible with the international Roms. Has anybody been able to try this out yet? I prefer the dark ui theme that Samsung traditionally uses in the international firmwares.

I just got my TMO note, I'm wondering the same thing, have you tried international ROMs?

Subscribed. I haven't rooted my phone yet because it's just that awesome but I too had a tmobile s4 and would like to see if this note 4 can take international roms.

With just a straight up download and flash?

On the note 3 they just needed a Bluetooth, WiFi, data modded zip that you flashed after the rom in order for it to work. I'm sure the same needs to be done on our note 4's or they can just be ported over.

Turilo has a zip. Look in his xnote port thread second post

Hopefully this means the US (specifically us Sprint users) will see it by Thanksgiving or so! :good: :fingers-crossed:
Supposedly getting some Note 3 features as well, but the features are not specified in the article.
UPDATE (10/18/13): International Galaxy S4 4.3 rollout begins.

Yea, I wonder what happened. Maybe the source stopped providing files to sextape or got caught? His leaks were very exciting during my time with the E4GT.

Same here.. The sprint note 3 got released today I think ?
As always, grains of salt should be taken with info from these kinds of guys, but my Samsung field rep stated they plan on having it out by black Friday at the latest. Which would make sense, I assume we'll be doing a GS4 BOGO just like we did for the S3 last year, and Samsung will want to push the Gear at that time.

Gear and S4?

Hello. I am new to these forums. I've been reading some awesome stuff that you guys have posted! Nice forums...
So yesterday I got me a Gear and I'm using it with my S4. For me, so far only making calls work and getting notifications from Twitter work. I havnt tried anything else but texts and weather won't work.
So my question is, have you guys got any applications working on gear while using an s4? Maybe there's some way so I can get text message notifications on my gear at least until 4.3 is released for my s4? I've read quite a few posts with some great info but I've seen they own a GG with a Note 3. Oh, and I can't install any apps from my s4 to my gear. I see them but when I click install, it just fails. I've read something about USB Debugging on Gear and that way you can push Apps from your pc to gear but not sure if it will work. Thanks

I can tell you that GEAR will work perfectly on Android 4.3 (Mine, I'm using Galaxy S4 i9500 with Android 4.3.) ... as you can see from this forum.
You can install apps from Samsung Apps (once you get GEAR Manager from there). Then a lot more feature apps you can download are there.
You can also use 'USB Debug mode' to push apk files from your computer to GEAR by ADB or Wondershare GoMobile, but not all apps will work.

I was in best buy today and the lady working at the Samsung desk said that she could update me to 4.3 I quickly said no as I'm rooted (mf3) using safestrap. I found this odd as the update was not available to us via keis but who knows she may have been right they easier access than we do. So if you want it check with your local best buy Samsung rep and see what they say.

You mean your S4 not getting Android 4.3 yet? [There is a way out by flashing Official Rom Android 4.3 of other countries like Russia / India here : http://samsung-updates.com/ [Select from drop-down menu of your left to your exact device].
For Android 4.2.2 on S4, I'd been trying so far, but cannot get any notifications to GEAR, but after Android 4.3, everything is perfect : you can go and download GEAR manager from Samsung Apps and lot more without any annoying. :good:

With the impending charge locking update, what are options to keep the Note 7 going?

I'd like to get the Pixel XL, but as it stands it still seems that isn't yet in stock and I have my doubts it'll be available by the nineteenth of this month.
Is there a way to keep the phone from auto updating like it did with the 60% charge restriction without having to root?
Will rooting and using a custom ROM become the only way to keep the Note 7 running come the new update?
Will rooting then impact returning the phone with T-Mobile? Or can you return it to "stock" in order to do so?
I'm rooted with stock os, I just disabled all the samsung crap and didn't get the previous update. So I don't see this coming either. I used titanium backup freeze/ remove method and haven't had any unauthorized updates pushed to my phone. At this point is only way you can do it or else be stuck unable to charge your phone in a week.
Tiger, I've never rooted a phone, but I'm no tech dummy either. What is a good resource to walk me through the process? What will I need to download? PC vs. Mac?

you can roll back to the previous firmware get rid of the 60% update but thats it.

Only way at this point is download the vanilla firmware in the download section. Flash it via Odin, root it right away, and don't let it get online. Load titanium, find the app to download to sd card, then disable to your hearts content and you will be able to keep your phone.

T-Mobile Note 9 to Verizon

Hi guys,
I bought the note 9 directly from Samsung and it was a T-mobile version. I just switched to Verizon but I can't use the note 9 because it's locked to T-mobile. I've called T-mobile multiple times and they said i have to do it through the app but the app keeps telling me that the unlock has failed. I have also called samsung countless times and they told me that the Note 9 that i purchased was designed to be used for T-mobile and there is no unlocking it. I doubt that this is true. What are my options here? Can i flash the unlocked firmware if so, where can i find it? Thanks in advance for the help.

I reached out to both of them. Samsung did not do sh*t. They said they can't do anything since it was designed to work with T-mobile only. I don't buy that. It's same hardware so there has to be a way to flash it.

Well flashing it may not remove the SIM lock. But if you can't get resolved then I suggest you get a lawyer and see where it goes.

I pretty sure a T-Mobile Note 9 will not work on Verizon due to the frequencies being different and each phone have different radio software that includes specific hardware. The only phone I am aware of that runs on both is the Pixel.

I pretty sure a T-Mobile Note 9 will not work on Verizon due to the frequencies being different and each phone have different radio software that includes specific hardware. The only phone I am aware of that runs on both is the Pixel.

Oh really? that really sucks! so it's a brick at this point
If I'm correct, it's a brick to you but a great device for someone who wants to be on T-Mobile.....again if I'm correct.

It's a pain to go through eBay ugh. It sucks because i think i've only used this phone for about 2 days so it's pretty much brand new.

Have you tried flashing a Verizon rom to the unlocked Note 9 and throw a Verizon sim card in it to see if it works?

I have tried throwing Verizon sim card in there. It says locked. So i'm confused by the tweet, does that mean that it will work on verizon? should i flash the verizon rom?

The installation of a specific carrier rom will unlock the modem to allow it to work on a given carriers network. Just do your research before you start flashing roms.

Well, i know how to flash roms and how odin works. So should I root it and flash Verizon's rom?
Please do the research.
Rooting the device has nothing to do with flashing a different carrier's rom.

I had this problem before on another phone. Go on Twitter and send tweet to John Legere from T-Mobile that you can't unlock your paid off phone, someone from Tmobile will contact you to get it unlocked. You can probably also send a tweet to T-mobile too, but I never tried them.
If you bought it from Samsung directly for T-Mobile it should be a N960U1 for an unlocked device or a N960U locked on T-Mobile
Which device do you have?

I'm pretty sure this statement is inaccurate. As far as I know, all N960U carrier models (i.e. Verizon, TMobile, ATT, etc) have the same hardware.

Hi guys,
I bought the note 9 directly from Samsung and it was a T-mobile version.

Flashing a different firmware will do absolutely nothing for the SIM Lock situation.
Also,if you're currently on a temporary unlock, that may be holding things up as well.
Typically,T-Mobile has a 40 day period to where you need for the phone to be active on their network before they will grant a SIM Unlock, not sure if this applies to devices bought directly from Samsung, but,it still could be why you're having issues.
You have two options:
1) Continue contacting T-Mobile regarding the issue,be prepared to show 'em your receipt/etc... proving you've bought the phone from Samsung & that it is indeed paid off. Call during typical office hrs on weekdays to ensure you get your former regional "Team Of Experts",I've found T-Mo's Customer Care has greatly improved since they went this route.
2) Use a paid device unlock service & make sure what you buy is T-Mobile Note 9 specific.
Anything else will not work. Google is your friend,as well as searching here in the Note 9 forums for services that have been recommended by the membership here.
Stay on the T-Mobile firmware until the device is permanently unlocked,I'm not sure that side-loading the device unlock .apk will work on non-T-Mobile firmware.
Depending on the method of payment you used, you may have some buyer protection regarding a return/refund,but,I'd use that as a last resort if after a week or so you get no results.
I just had a replacement and it was locked on tmobile, when I was getting the failed to unlock was because it wasn't enough time activated on their network after a week of use I was able to successfully permanent unlock my note 9

TMobile dual SIM

I currently have a OnePlus 6t, I have two TMobile sim cards that I use. Ones for personal, ones for business. I've called TMobile and they say I can't activate the esim as it's only an iPhone option, I've told them I've read where people have done it with the pixel but obviously, me not having the phone I can't have them try. My question is, does anyone use TMobile for both the physical sim and esim? Does everything work properly? What did you do to get TMobile to activate it? Thanks

Do you have the Google unlocked version or the TMobile carrier version? Also which build are you on? Some articles made it sound like you had to be in a specific for T-Mobile esim support

Thanks, I use to carry 2 phones and have gotten spoiled since going with OnePlus phones for my last 3 devices and while I like OnePlus I always find myself looking at pixels but I won't go back to carrying 2 phones.
The Pixel 4 is now official supported for eSIM on T-Mobile with the December update.
