Battery charging very slowly
I really appreciate the developer of this thread for giving us weekly updates on AOSPA :good:
The only problem i have apart from random reboots is that the battery charges very slowly and discharges real quick. :crying:
As I have observed in comparison to miui v6 is that in miui v6 the battery would charge up to 5% in just 5:30 to 6 mins, instead in this AOSPA ROM the battery takes over 10 mins to charge up to 3%. I don't know if this can be resolved or not but if it is possible to fix this in the coming updates it would be really appreciated.
PS: I am running the latest build of AOSPA i.e, pa_cancro-4.6-BETA5-20141102
Thanking the Developer for providing this awesome ROM

MAC Address Changes On Reboot?
Every time I reboot my MAC address changes, this is very annoying for me and happens on every custom rom that I have tried on the mi3(cancro), this is quite tiresome as my dad uses MAC address filtering and it is impossible to connect to wi-fi without constantly having to change the accepted MAC addresses. If you can fix this or at least give me a tip I would be extremely grateful!! Thanks for reading, Stas Domanski.

Didn't notice this as I always charge at night. About battery draining need wakelock stats for that. Average my phone can last day with no deep sleep, 4hrs SOT.

I'll take a fix from Armani device if it can be use with ours. Will post a new build when ready. Hope you can report back if it work.

My battery drains quick as i have disabled device deep sleep, because of the random reboot problem.
Is there any way you can resolve the slow charging issue?

Don't know for sure..regularly my phone full charge 3-4 hrs..even on MIUI..is it right? There a lot changes I'm doing locally in my build to test stuff.

in MIUI in could achieve a complete charge from 0 to 100 in less than 2hrs.
But in AOSPA it takes almost 6hrs for complete charge, so instead of putting it to charge while the os is booted, I tend to turn off the device and then charge my battery and then the charging rate matches to that in MIUI v6
This is not a hassle free process as I am unable to use my device when I put it to charge. I have to compromise between keeping my device on and faster charging rate.

Also i can confirm that Mac address changes every time the phone reboots.

Most new QUALCOMM base chipset/board has this (if I'm not wrong). Simple say...quick charging like OPPO Find7 has..but not as fast as that. More quickly than conventional charging.

Screen flickering
The screen flickers when you hold the status bar midway and during the recent app switcher. It looks ugly.

[STOCKICS][NEW BL NEW LAYOUT][CWM 6] Link to Stefans V28G 2nd Gen Excellent ROM
But as we all know the thread is now closed, and we cannot discuss this Good (nearly) Bugless ICS ROM by Stefan. The thread is going down rapidly and very soon people may ignore it. But I think this NVFLASH rom is not ignorable.
Of course there is no improvement is available from him after he left, but I thought we can share this link with other members who may wanna try this V28G 2nd Gen NVFlash Rom and discuss about it. May be some patches by other devs will make it more practically useable.
One mote useful link by his is here ... [Offering] CWM 6 recovery for Stock ICS with new bootloader [new: v28G based] could be useful for some.
NOTE: On this rom I am using Homero2's RIL1109 V28G MOD. Working good.
Requesting all to discuss this rom.
Moderators, please advice if this post can stay as per the rules, as the main rom thread is closed.
I use the rom since it was out, and it is very good for me. BUT my standby battery consumption is too high (10% in 8h without wifi, data connection etc). Except this, it's a great ICS feeling.

Its really a good rom.
Do you mean your battery comes down from 100% to 10% (90% drain) in 8 hours? Strange. Mine works great. I get only 30% drain in 8 hours overnight with all automatically switch off by SMART PROFILE (Free) app. My device goes on silent profile mode, switches off wifi, bt, gps, data at 11:45PM and again comes back General Profile mode in the morning at 7:30AM without switching on anything. I switch on things only when necessary. I really get good sleep without any disturbance This app works perfectly since a year on my all roms and gives 100% perfect result and battery lasts longer. 100% is enough for me for whole day (24+ hours). Yes I do voice calls around an hour in a day, other than some moderate use of music, video, camera, etc.
Yes I also have fixed habit of Advanced Task Killer (Free) which kills background apps every 30 minutes in CRAZY mode for all 24 hours a day and keeps saving hell lot of a battery.
These two apps are first thing I do to any rom. Try this and feedback. I dont need to blame roms when I have some tweaks like above to try!
EDIT: Screenshot added with exact 50% juice remaining after 14 hours. forgot to mention I use Stereo BT (Sony MW600) most of the time connected to device.
This is better suited in the General section, since there won't be any real development going on, just discussions of a "dead unsupported" ROM.

I am not sure, but other devs are working on mods and patches thats why posted here. But as you said it, it should go to general section.
Moderators please move this post to General Section
EDIT: An opinion why this post should stay here in this comment.

Same to me! 10% in 8h without wifi, 2g-3g, and any battery drainer on! So... I've tried topo's ics rom and on topo's rom i had more battery consumption than stefans...
Thx stefans for this great rebuild... Devs here saves our phones. LG knows how to lose costumers!!!

Kind of agree, but I'm this tread deserves attention even though Stefan left xda. I mean, the provided files by Stefan are being used as baserom for follow ups nd roms should be posted in dev section, unless it's a rom eg changed boot animation and ring tones I think, keep this alive, what Stefan did with 28e/g are what made us be where we are, running difference ics leaks.. So, to hail Stefan I think roms based on 28e/g with minor changes should be linked here why criticise Stefan when we have hundreds or thousands off topic meaningless post every day which don't gets erased

I used this rom for a couple of days. No major bug. But for me, it was too laggy. So back to MIUI GB.
However, it seems like i am the only one with this issue. Sometimes i was pressing a button and the phone just froze for 30s or more .... Not practical as a daily driver. It was driving me nuts !

You shure you don't have any app installed that is SUCKING the battery BIG TIME when it's in standby???
I have the same 2nd Gen rom from steffan, since the day it was released by him, and my p990 is clean as new (zero programs installed after flashing (i lie, i was forgetting that i installed Endomondo)), and my battery barelly gets drained during night (generally 2-4% max), and using the mobile lightly (like 5 or 6, five minutes calls per day, and turning data and 3g on two or three times a day to check my email, and take a look here @ xda to see if there's any news that is worth it) i get generally 2 days (more accuratelly, 42 to 46 hours) with a full charge...
Something in your phone should be draining the battery, as from my experience with the rom, it his the best rom i ever have used in battery life...
P.S: I forget to mention, i'm also using v28g baseband from stefan.
I was in this ROM from beginning until I found topo ROM's same. battery has always been bad for me...nothing about the ROM but there is something which is sucking the juice so badly....
Waiting for Topo new SP3 which he is testing.
But for these small things I am happy with this

Yes, sync is off and the only app running in background is WhatsApp.
Btw I found an other crazy issue in the V28G firmware:
Sometimes (when I use the phone) the screen suddenly gets darker and has dark spots. I already had this problem a few times under V28G. The first time I thought my phone would be defect, but the issue disappears when you lock and then unlock your phone.
Here's a photo of that:
Does anyone already had the same crazy issue?
I've had that crazy issue, yes.

Flix123, i have exactly same thing in mine. But it's not something i noticed only on ICS, i already noticed this problem 4 or 5 months ago (during that time i was using Temasek's rom) so i think this is something related to the phone itself due to aging or something like that... (mine is really getting old now, i bought it on may 2011....)

[Q] Mobile Network Signal (Cell Standby) DRAIN

Hello guys I'm a newbie here so please do explain to me some of the stuff if you need to
so recently (about 2 weeks ago) I used this guide to root my Incredible S and did everything except the Blackrose part
and since then
I've noticed that my phone has drained its battery a lot quicker than usual
I lost 11% of battery when I woke up, fully charging it the night before
I usually do not use it much, only a call every 2 days or so, and I do not have internet connection
so I cannot understand how I have to charge it every day now, when it used to last 4 days (on Sense)
here's a pic from betterybatterystats
thanks everyone
------- 4/10 edit
ok
back to stock rom
it has the SAME problem
"No data connection" and "No or Unknown Signal" on Betterbatterystats
with steep drops in battery whenever there is "Mobile network signal"
and next to no drop whatsoever when there isn't
PLEASE HELP ><
new attachments down there with stock rom
tell me if you need a translation
THANKS

I know and I've tried to look around for answers for quite a few days
but for most people
it's either the same as Sense or something else (too many apps, not charging fully...)
and for those with similar conditions
I can't find solutions for
and the problem got worse today
in the 7 hours I slept yesterday
the battery drained from more than 50% to nothing
so the alarm didn't ring because it shut itself off

The standard charging time isnt what it says on the box or anything. It should be roughly 6 hours from 0% to 100% and thats providing you plug it into an AC outlet. I would suggest trying an app called Greenify. It hibernates certain apps/ services that may not be in use thus saving battery. I would also regularly check the Running Apps in settings and clear out anything unecessary.

I don't have a charging problem
it's a drainage problem
and about Greenify
I already installed that when I looked over the battery saving guide (which didn't help)
I literally have 5 apps in the Running Apps section
the part I don't get is
why does Cyanogenmod 10.1 use battery so much quicker than Sense
when I have 1/4 the apps I originally did?
it's the "No Data Connection" and "No or Unknown Signal" part really bothers me.
oh and thanks for the time btw

Hmm then this battery drainage is strange. Try making a full backup in recovery. Then clean flash the ROM again. If the problem still persists, then I have absolutely no idea whats wrong lol

Actually
I tried that...
on Sunday afternoon I reflashed it
my exact steps:
1. ClockworkMod backup
2. Install from zip
3. Advanced restore - data (I restored the whole thing too once before that, but thought that just restoring the data might actually change something)
and that's when it went from 50% to 0 overnight
not looking too good -.-

just in case anyone knows what they mean
Drained 56% of my battery while I was asleep yesterday (for about 7 hours)
only 6% in the time I was at school, because of Airplane mode (I even listened to music and played a little Doodle Jump)
but I obviously want a phone to CALL PEOPLE
so I'm reverting to stock Rom
OK
so that didn't work out
I edited the main article
hope someone can help!!
meanwhile I'll look for more articles online since I know it's not (really) CM's problem anymore
thanks
Ensure to charge your mobile fully and after a NORMAL usage (calls, WiFi, Mobile Data on).
Just share the dump file from betterbatterystats. It would help to analyse better.
Edit:
Could notice you are using some widgets in the home screen. Usually widgets with high refresh rate drains your battery.
2. Facebook app is causing the partial wakelock. Even when the screen is off, the app is using your CPU. Try to disable autosync if it's enabled
3. Audio_out3 wakelock is due to phone vibrator is enabled. May be during call or keyboard haptic feature.
Power manager service wakelock is common and its in good level.
Try to check your CPU freq n governor.
And adjust accordingly. One more, Li-on battery should not be charged fully. Just charge till 85-90%. The battery will drain little lower compared to fully charged device. And you need to charge your device only when battery is low. Frequent charging n discharging will affect the battery life. Consistent Charge and discharge cycle is encouraged.
Try to share your fresh dump here or in batter battery status thread. There are many folks to help you with.

Thanks for the detailed reply sir
My widgets (aka weather & tasks) only refresh manually, and nothing is on Autosync (in the auto sync menu, anyways)
originally had only vibration for calls, turned that off too now
and what is "CPU freq n governor"?
didn't know that about the batteries
I'll do that next time
and I just reinstalled betterbatterystats, so I'll post the Dump File after a few hours

I mean CPU frequency steps and CPU governor. It's a kernel thing. Just search xda, you will lot of info regarding that.
Sure, post your dump with normal usage.

how to get normal battery life?

Hello all
i´ve got my 4x Hd since one month now, everything is okay but the battery live is terrible. In some reviews i read that the phone should get 6 hours of screen on time and a lot of users here say that they reach 2 days with this phone but the maximum i reached with my phone was 20 hours with 2 hours screen on time. And no, i dont play ANY games on my 4x and the screen is nearly on minimum brightness. I have tried EVERY Rom in this forum (rom folder contains 80gig, lol) but it is very hard to manage for me that the battery lasts a day. Better Battery stats says that Baseband wakelock and wifi wakelock drains the battery at most (even on v10h and v20a,I thought that these wakelocks are custom Rom related...?). Also ive tried a lot of battery saving tweaks like greenify for facebook, trickster mod to reduce voltages and underclock to 1ghz, but nothing helps much. I ordered a second battery too (polarcell) and it gives a light improvement, but coming over an day ist quite impossible...
I would be gratefull if someone can suggest me a good setup (Rom + Kernel + Apps) or some tipps to save battery...
Sorry for my "bad" english....:0

According to what he has written, he seems to have searched and practiced a lot.
Please just ignore the question if you do not want to answer.
It is nearly impossible to filter good knowledge from a thread which has been started months ago so sometimes it is good to make a new start and share the most useful.
6 hours is overkill of onscreen time. 2 hours is what you should get with heavy use, 3 hours with moderate, 4h and up with video watching.
install custom rom and kernel, keep wifi and data off while phone is idle and you'll get miniscule discharge while the phone is not in use. if you need to sync messages or mails, use dsbattery saver, and let it turn on wifi/data once per hour for 2 minutes and force sync.
keeping data and wifi off will conserve a lot of battery.
baseband_xmm is weird wakelock. try werewolf kernel, as it seems he completely fixed it from overeating the battery. as for wifi lock, it seems that it's rom-related, and that stock has best stats with wifi on, but a bypass of that issue, is ofc, to use wifi only when you need it.
as for underclocking & changing governors, i didnt find that they increased battery life much (for me). only advice is to experiment, and from personal experience see what's the best you can pull off. (f.e., carbon 4.2.2 i could pump 4+ hours of onscreen time with medium use, but i've tested other (better) roms, with more functions, that i simply dont want to go back to it )

If that is true then the OP should have been able to formulate his own opinion as to which ROM and Kernel works best for him. The simple fact is that if he's only had the phone a month and has tried every ROM then he has only run each one for about one day - that is not enough time to form any kind of opinion on how a ROM actually performs. By far the best thing is to choose 3 or 4 ROMs that have the features you want and try each one for a week, take copies of the Bettery Battery stats and review after doing those tests.

Don't tell me what I can and can't do. This forum is a complete mess because we constantly get the same questions asked over and over again.

Threads started months ago? Really? Try putting the word 'battery' into the forum search engine and see just how many hits there are - even one started 3 days ago. This thread is no different to a 'Best ROM' thread - you will get 10 people replying and 11 different opinions as to what is best.

I completely agree about the mess you describe but the mess will not stop by saying "search, read etc.". It's human nature, we're lazy.
Let those who want to answer, answer. Dumb and repetetive questions will be ignored anyway.
I'm sorry if I was being unpolite by my words, but that's definitely not what I intended so please let's not create more mess.

If everybody could understand this fact, there would be less questions on the forum.
No custom ROM or kernel can create miracles when the power consumption of the screen is the unchanging variable in the equation and you have to turn the screen on to use the phone.

Thank you, actually i´m using a modded stock rom (p880-eur-20b-f1.zip) and because of wifi and data issues i moved to the werewolve kernel v8 because it promised to get rid of the wakelocks but everything stays the same...Disabling wifi is annoying but possible for me, but disabling data is no option because i need whatsapp....and i dont understand how a lot of people here say they have a good battery life without disabling anything... :l Carbon Rom had alot of other bugs for me (needed 10 seconds to show the lockscreen), 4.3 version was even worse for me :l

The baseband, wifi and most of time nfc wakelock won´t go away, even if i use a rom 5 days, so where is your problem?!
Edit:
Battery had 31%, then i listened to music (turned wifi and mobile data off) and the battery was dead after 35 minutes, this can´t be normal, can it?

Wtf ??? When you listening to music phone runs 51mhz. I can listening about 2 days music. I think you have very many wakelocks I listen to music after 1h 2% was drained.

yeah, that's not normal. even with gaming it should last more than 30 minutes. my best advice is to dig deeper into the issue, see what's really wasting the battery. not many tips i can give, since my worst drainers were wakelocks, not apps using abnormal amount of battery while phone is active

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Sony Xperia Z5 before depleting the battery.

Most of the other settings stayed at stock. The governor (interactive) was tweaked using heimdall's tweaks ( posted in z5 themes and apps section by a user, along with those power tweaks and setprop tweaks)
I felt amplify made most of the magic here. Helped a lot with wakelocks. Searched the net for guide to use amplify and it worked brilliantly. Phone was down to 50% and I had an SOT of 4.5+ hours.
Will try the new kernel and let you know in a day or two. I am pretty sure the kernel would work better if I gave it a day to settle.
For the previous kernel which I was testing, it was it's first run.

Pretty sure I can get it to around 8 hours SOT atleast! But since I am very busy nowadays and my internship started today, it's gonna be a little hard
Best for me is 4:48 as reported by Battery Monitor Widget, but mostly is 3D games so I think is pretty good
I have my Phone 3 hours off Power, Battery goes down to 60% and the main app draining power is the Display with 17% as per the battery consumption chart.
In the Details to the batteryconsumption of the display it says the display was on for 1:35, however I hardly turned it on.
That is the same since LP and even with MM I reset already 3 times. no change.
I would love the meet someone with that great performance. mine seems just broken :/

I get 5 hours on average from 100% without using Wi-Fi and on H+ and my average use is what's app, Instagram, mobile payment, snap chat ( eats a lot) and taking pictures. My brightness is at half with automatic turned on

Actually I hope so. I am one step away from rooting my phone and hope that this might help, especially with greenify having root access.
The device is almost unusable anymore with this battery life. I factory reset once a week, don't even have many apps or do much with it but it still lasts just half a day.
After a factory reset the first 2-3 days are almost fine up to one day.
I dont even think 2 days are possible if I don't activate the whole time...

Similar here on T-mo USA
I wonder if the lack of proper tmous radio tuning leads the phone to drain on LTE... Have noticed more drain (phone doesn't seem to have doze lines anymore even though BBS shows doze..) after rooting/xposed. So much that I uninstalled xposed as a test.
Going to try dropping back to HSPA and see if its better.

Hmmmm may be onto something here, right away I'm noticing that Yappy is not hanging on sending messages. What I think was happening for me was low LTE signal was causing Yappy to wake up every minute to restart itself. Not sure why Yappy wasn't showing in battery settings, but my phone seems to be connected now that I'm on a 'stable network'. Really wish we could get the tuning on tmous :/
I'm getting average 7-9 hours SOT with my Xperia Z5 Dual E6683... btw is it normal for the GPS indicator at the battery usage page to show that it's constantly turned on throughout the whole day eventhough it's turned off?

Aaaand nope, got the fast dormancy wakelocks and battery drained faster than before. Reflashing the stock system and wiping cache now to see if I can get doze lines again.
Edit: Battery is better but I think because of things I did after reflashing. Installed WLD since I have root now and noticed that google maps (and later android pay) were generating NLP wakelocks, so cleared data on google maps since I have location reporting off already and then denied location to android pay and it seems to be back to normal. If this is stable for a few days I may try Xposed again.
On average daily use with WiFi on and location enabled most of the time I will get 5 hours SOT. I have pushed it close to 6 with reducing my brightness to almost nothing and only using the phone for messaging. Several factors will affect SOT. For me getting group messages or picture messages drops battery life. Using Chrome also drops it.

Are you asking the app usage in the day? Funny enough my battery life today was a definite miss but it got me through the workday and that's all I need.
Nah I meant like what apps do you have that are non-stock..
But looks like my phone is back to not dozing.. losing ~10% overnight, where I used to lose 3%. Looks like I'm getting the Mobile Radio Active bug displaying through google play services. Clearing caches of apps that appear to be causing it as I go...

Question Critical battery drain

Hello
Yesterday i had the phone around 65% at 01h00, in the next morning (around 7h20) i wake up to find the phone at 1%, no wifi/4G/bluetooth/GPS...etc was active, even the battery saver was ON. As you can see in the screenshots, android system drain battery around 400% !!! what's up with this behavior ? happened the 1st time last week (49% drained in 8 hours) the problem seems gone after i fully charge and than reboot, but still today happened.
The phone is almost 1 month old.
The 1st few days, i disconnected the phone from charging at 100% and went to sleep, after 6 hours battery is drained by 6% without doing nothing. is this normal ??? screenshot
ROM : crDroid 8, latest magisk installed+microg+magiskhide props config and fdroid/aurora modules installed.
Thanks

well, that must a bug related to optimiztion of the rom, report it to the rom mantainer
Exactly what happened to me same ROM same phone but I didn't root it. it drained from 54% to 6% during the night, next day I switched the ambient display off and the battery became better but so far I am also looking for solutions to make it similar to miui
I feel the battery is draining so much fast when I start using the apps unlike miui but the room is also great and fast , with my light use it gave me 1 day of use and remaining of 10% with 120 fps (3.3%/hr screen on and 0.6%/h screen off )
today I will test it with 60fps

Wow, 3.3%/hr is seriously impressive for active drain, especially for 120hz. Can I ask you if you did anything special / your exact setup? I installed Ricedroid 8.0 + Sleepy kernel and applied the GMS Doze module + Naptime (as suggested by a kind poster on here), and this allowed my idle drain to go down to 0.2%/hr, but my active drain is still struggling a bit.

Ohh the 3.3%/hr is combined use, which takes account of both active drain and idle drain (through what I guess is some weighted average). But honestly, 6.7%/hr (or even 7.8%/hr tbh) is still pretty damn impressive, so I'll thank you for letting me know! Now I wanna flash crDroid haha.

I spent 1 day and half trying all custom roms in this forum because for long time I was on miui and didn't know how custom ROMs are now , after trying I found that all custom ROMs either are pixel flavored or very basic without any customization and I settled with Cr-droid because it offers best of both worlds less google and good customization options.
now regarding the battery after few days of using on 60 fps I have combined use 2.4%/hr and 0.8% screen off but I still feel that it drains fast during my usage compared to Miui , I have only used naptime for optimization do you advise me to add anything else for non-rooted device ?

MIUI very often switches off alarm (not clock alarm) and wakeups -- it's known for long. Your notifications often comes late when using MIUI. In real life situation, however you might never notice it, but it's there. It also sets higher priorities to known messaging, social media apps to receive notification/action faster than any apps that are outside "the list".
It's a good trade off for battery life compares to stock AOSP or lineage which put every apps on generic list of "optimized battery" based on your pattern. It will took a long before the pattern is useable.

I'm not sure about your possibilities on a non-rooted device honestly. I think Naptime can work on a non-rooted device, if you grant a few permissions through ADB first (if I remember correctly, the app itself will guide you through the process). Be mindful of which apps you're restricting though, as Naptime will likely cause delays in the arrival of notifications. You can whitelist apps through Android's battery restriction screen.

Hmm I don't have any further tips honestly, not about these specific things. In my case, using Naptime already improves battery life by a ton over the course of a day (not wasting entire %s in hours of idle time is already huge).
Try and see if greenify or its replacements helps.
