[Q] Kind Fire 1stGen Demo - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

EDIT lol 'kind' fire!
Hi,
I’ve picked up a Kindle Fire D01400 (1st generation) which was a Demo from a certain auction website!
If possible can someone give me a little assistance, I’ve read several topics on this forum and a lot of the info is referring to old posts which then refer to other posts, then others etc etc.
I’ve installed adt bundle SDK and Java and If I plug my kindle in with a normal USB wire it tells me its Android ADB Interfaced.
I got myself a fastboot cable, when plugging that into the Kindle it displays red writing at the top telling me its Fastboot along with a green light. Device manager tells me the device is now ‘OTTER2-Prod-04’.
I downloaded the Kindle Fire Utility v0.9.9
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192818
I can use that to send the command to boot back into normal mode 4000 successfully (even though it tells me ADB Status: Offline and Boot Status: Unknown) which it does and goes into its little demo video again. But what I can’t do is is install TWRP as when I select that option it just boots back into the demo. Am I missing something?
Other posts pointed me in the direct of the KF First Aide utility, however running this the options are only for Kindle Fire 2nd Gen and above. I presume using this on a 1st Gen would brick it forever!?
Ideally I’m looking to just install [2014][Pre-Rooted][Stock]System Version 6.3.3-Original Kindle Fire Only
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793648
Any ideas please?
Thank you

Well its seem mute now!
I read that I should use the KFU utility and option 5 which was install firefirefire, it told me it installed OK but now wont boot up to Demo, wont power on, wont even charge!
Guess its a brick!???? Hey-ho

I Think I Hard-Bricked my Kindle Fire HD 7"

Help! I successfully rooted my Kindle Fire HD 7" following your tutorial "[ROOT][HOW TO] Root the Kindle Fire HD and 2 with Windows - Noob (Simple) Version", and then installed Google Plays etc. following "[ROOT][HOW TO] Install Google Play Store Noob (Simple) Version". I then got to the "[How to] Install Go Launcher EX and HD Noob (Simple) Version" tutorial, and everything went down hill from here.
After following the instructions of tutorial 3, and error message popped on my screen saying that "October has Stopped" and my device froze. I held down the power button, but my device wouldn't boot up - instead it went to a screen with a "Red Warning Triangle". I tried everything from this screen to reboot/reboot my device, all to no avail. Eventually the battery died.
I was able to my Kindle Charged again using the wall charger. However, when plugging into my computer via USB, it doesn't appear on my list of devices. Thus, tools such as KF First Aide are of no help; they cant't communicate with my device, and get stuck on the "<waiting for device>" message.
Any advice?
Can I fix this? How Is my Kindle Fird HD 7" dead forever?

Yes you can fix it,In Fact, You need to have done a lot worse than that to completely fry your kindle, Don't worry, But you will need a factory cable now, Do you have one?
If you don't you can either
A) Order one from SkOrPn
B)Make one yourself, It's easy if you know how to solder
Once you acquire i'll tell you how to completely restore your kindle!
Yes he is right. You can order a factory cable from prokennexusa by PM.

The simplest tool that can restore your kindle would be
KFHD System.img Restore Tool KFHD SRT
All you need to do is download this tool
KFHD_SRT_v1.2.3- 7.2.3
This is a large download, System images are ~600Mb
Originial Thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254
Open SR Tool.bat
choose option 1
Or option 2 if you would like to have Go launcher or Apex launcher installed along with it, And google play store!
The tool will send the system image to your kindle, This will take about 7 minutes
Next, you should choose option 3 to wipe cache and userdata, This is recommended but not required, You will lose any files you transferred to your kindle, You don't need to do this if you want to keep your files!
If you need help just ask

UPDATE
I wanted to update everyone on my situation. I followed the threads advice - and it worked!
Specifically:
1. I ordered a factory cable from SkOrPn - got it in 3 days after placing order (shibby!).
2. I charged my device by plugging it into wall charger.
3. I installed the Kindle Fire ADB drivers on my compter - directions and links can be found on the thread [ROOT][HOW TO] Root the Kindle Fire HD and 2 with Windows - Noob (Simple) Version
4. I installed the toolbox KFHD_SRT_v1.2.3- 7.2.3 - from the thread KFHD System.img Restore Tool KFHD SRT
5. I plugged my device into PC USB port using the factory cable - it immediately went into fastboot.
6. I used KFHD_SRT_v1.2.3- 7.2.3 from my pc (SR Tool.bat), followed the instructions, and presto.

How long did it take your kindle to charge? When I plug mine in the wall charger it only turns on for like 5 seconds and that's about it? Also did you use the factory cable to charge or the usb cable that came with the Kindle?
bricked .. red screen
I was able to root my KFHD7 with Root_with_Restore and then Qemu .. rooting seemed to work fine.
I then tried to use Fire Flash app to load Hashcode's freedom boot image and TWRP recovery image.. clicked the flash button, it rebooted to a red screen.
I made myself a fastboot cable, when I plug it in, I see the Fastboot logo on the kindle, but my PC never detects the device.
Not sure where to go from here.
I've downloaded and tried KF2_SRT tool and no go. Also downloaded and tried KFFirstAide .. same deal.
All tools stay on <waiting for device>
remove factory cable after it is in fastboot

remove factory cable after it is in fastboot mode then plug normal usb cable in it then into pc.
My Kindle Fire is basically like this one mentioned above and I'm in fastboot with the factory cable, but i'm stuck with , <waiting for device> on the tool. It seems as though my drivers can't be installed. Any fix to this.

So, basically.
1) I rooted
2) got google play
3) tried to get twrp with fire flash, and this is where i screwed up
Insted of using hashcode's twrp img i used the actualy twrp (blaze) img. so im in this constant reboot loop thing.
So i got a factory cable and I am in flashboot. I got KFHD recovery tool 1.3.5 and when i click option 1, it says <waiting for device>.
I think this is due to the fact that my drivers are not installed correctly, so i tried to reinstall drivers but it just doesnt seem to be working. My thoughts are, If i can just get my computer to recognize the device we might be ok. but i cant seem to make it do that.

Watch this video here to learn how to set up your drivers http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oaNM-lt_aHw&desktop_uri=/watch?v=oaNM-lt_aHw
You're bootlooping and need to use Kindle Fire First Aide to get your KFHD back to normal. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888
I used KFFA to get back to 7.2.3 bootloader and used Hashcode's 7.2.3 bootimg and the 2.6.1 TWRP file he lists. This worked great using Fire flash.

KFHD7 turns off after 5 seconds
So I've basically followed all steps here and in numerous other threads, but one problem still persists: the Kindle Fire HD 7 turns off after 5 seconds. If I press the power button, nothing happens. If I plug it into a charger, it'll turn on and display the "Kindle Fire" logo on the screen then turn off after 5 seconds. If I plug it into a USB port, it'll turn on and display the "Kindle Fire" logo on the screen then turn off after 5 seconds. If I plug in the factory cable, it'll turn on and display the "Kindle Fire" logo, then display the "Fastboot Kindle Fire" logo then turn off after 5 seconds. I've left the unit on the charger for hours on end, then attempt to turn it on using the power button or plugging in a normal or factory USB cable and it'll do the same thing, turn off after 5 seconds.
OK you may have a 50/50 shot if its doing this because of a bad boot loader, but it could make things worse and end up in a hard brick if it shuts off mid flash, but if it happened to be something wrong with the battery then you would risk this for nothing, but I'm more inclined to think its the bootloader since it doesn't warn u of a low battery. If the fastboot device needs its drivers still, try installing the ones in my signature in that small time frame. If u can manage that, get a copy of the boot loader for your device and check the md5sum of the file( very important) and make sure it matches. Once you have that setup, you need to flash the boot loader onto the device, so I would suggest putting the boot loader in the same folder as fastboot.exe and running "fastboot -i 0x1949 flash bootloader bootloaderfile.bin" and let it say waiting for device, then plug you fastboot cable in and see if it will successfully flash within 5 seconds. If things go south it will hard brick though from an incomplete flash so just warning you ahead of time its up to you.

[Q] Kindle Fire is stuck in Logo after reinstalling TWRP

Hello, everyone!
Yesterday I tried to flash CM10 in my kindle fire (already running CM9).
I followed the Cyanogen Mod site (wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_otter) instructions.
I downloaded Kindle fire utility 0.9.9 (from CM site), and started the process of updating TWRP. At some point of the installation, KFU rebooted my device in fastboot mode, and kept waiting an awnser from Kindle.
It was taking a bit too long, so I restarted the tablet. Now it keeps on the "Kindle Fire" screen forever, and don't respond to ADB anymore (the "adb device" command don't return anything).
I believe it is not bricked yet, because when we connect it to the PC, it does that connection sound. However, I can't reach it with ADB anymore.
Can Anyone give me an advice for this situation?
Thanks a lot !!
You got very lucky, kindle fire utility is not meant for second generation devices, usually using it results in a hard brick. The correct way to update twrp is to grab the latest version's flashable zip from the dev section for your device and flash it from inside twrp and reboot. If you no longer have the blue logo and it is a 7" device you will need a fastboot cable, if you do have a blue logo or this is a 8.9" device you won't need a fastboot cable to fix, but you still need to get it into fastboot mode to reflash some partitions back to stock to fix this unless you get a blue logo in which case you could probably just flash the recovery but from what you said I'm assuming you don't get the blue logo anymore. And only the 8.9" models tend to be detected briefly while passing the bootloader.

In fact, my Kindle fire is a 1st generation one! I had already used KFU to flash CM9 on it (before, it had stock OS) .
Do this fact help in any form?
And, about the cable, I will search one imediatly!!
Thanks for your reply!
O well then this is the wrong device forum on xda... If its a kf1 then I think fastboot cable will still apply to this. Not positive, kf1's aren't my specialty, while my mother has one I never did much beyond rooting and installing twrp. Flashed a Ubuntu touch preview os on it once but that's about it.

[Q] 1st gen Kindle Fire HD stuck in Fastboot - Tutorials have failed me...

Hello. I am having trouble with my first gen Kindle Fire HD. About two weeks ago it flipped itself into Fastboot mode and has stubbornly refused to kick back out of it since then. I have researched and tried many methods, but I am not a hardcore tech guy.
Here are the details and what I have tried so far:
- This kindle had a stock operating system and was never rooted
- I have tried holding the power button down for 20 seconds (and longer)
- I installed Android studio and the Kindle fire drivers. Attempted to reboot it using the command line tools. System refuses to give its serial number when queried using Adb devices command even after using the android update/kill-server/start-server commands. Accepts the reboot command, but does not leave fastboot when it reboots.
- Bought a factory cable, tried the above method again. Did not work. Same results.
- Downloaded Qemuroot program. Program fails to execute properly every time.
- Tried the Kindle Fire HD restore tools. Computer sometimes claims it is pushing the files to the kindle, but then nothing changes. Tried all available options except wiping user data and cache.
- Tried uninstalling the Kindle drivers and reinstalling just to see if there was an error there. Didn't work, but my computer does identify it as a Kindle Fire instead of as a Tate-PVT-08
I am at the end of my technical skills and what I can learn via google and internet forums. Since it's not completely bricked, just stubbornly indifferent, I thought maybe the good folks here might have some more options for me to try.
Any advice or help will be most appreciated.
Thank you!

I was told today that it is completely bricked and that it is a manufacturing issue. Sadly, it is two years old, so I doubt Amazon will be very cooperative about fixing it.

Kindle Fire HD 7 stuck at blue/white logo screen

Hi all,
Okay, so long story short my mother has been using this Kindle Fire HD 7 with CM10? on it for awhile. Very recently it started to become sluggish and I offered to take a look. We decided that she should go back to the stock OS as she literally uses it only to play Scrabble and to read an occasional book and that's where things get weird...
It does/did have TWRP 2.6.3.0 installed, however whenever I would mount the device to my computer (Windows 10) it would never show up as a drive.
Then I decided to wipe it...and now, I cannot get passed the Kindle Fire blue/white logo
I have installed Kindle Fire Utility 0.9.9 and when connected it gives me an ADB Status of Online and a Boot Status: Unknown
I'm really just at a loss on what to do at this point...I have installed the drivers that came with the Kindle Fire Utility and my device manager does show Kindle when it's plugged in.
Thanks in advance!

If you can post into recovery . you could adb push some ROM and flash it using the recovery. You might have wiped the system off I suppose???

well simulataneously clicking the hardware buttons did the work for me ???

Kindle Fire HD7 rooted and stuck on boot loop white Amazon logo then reboots. HELP!!!

OK so i have searched everywhere for days. Tried tons of kindle unlock/unbrick tools. I rooted my Kindle fire HD7 (no sd card slot) using kingroot and twrp. at some point i used a utility that also put SuperSU on it. Everything seemed successful and i rebooted several times tweaking other settings, when i was almost finished tweaking i tried to remove kingsroot and rebooted which put me into some kind of boot loot. I only see the white/grey AMAZON (arrow under the word AMAZON) logo it only stays up for about 20 secs then goes black and starts over. All the unbrick tools i have tried either say can't find device and fail or say <waiting for device> and are never able to find it. I have installed new signed kindle device drives successfully. Windows device manager does show an Other device (with accompanying ding dong sound) > MTX65xx Preloader for about 5 secs then it disappears, the kindle never shows up as a drive thou. from what i read i think i may be stuck in fastboot? I don't know. I ordered and am using a Fastboot cable that i ordered from amazon which seems to have no effect. Ive tried using it in usb 2.0 slot as well as 3.0 (which they say won't work) The cable is from Atomic Market (3ft Motorola Factory Cable unbrick Droid Xoom Fire).
I also tried loading linux Ubunto via USB and running all unbrick tools i could find, always the same result .. it can't find device or waiting for device.
Windows 7 and Windows 10 same problem
Does anyone know how to help me? every article or guide i find talks about the kindle Fire logo that is orange and white with an animation or without. or a triangle... i have not read one article that talks about the white/grey amazon logo.
Thank you,
Mnfire
