I'm using NeoWave rom with Cm11 NeoKernel. There is some informations about SoD in NeoWave thread, but it seems like my problems is something completely different so I make a new thread here. My phone rapidly shutdown on itself these day and it become nearly unusable. And it can happed anytime, when I was browsing, or gaming, sometime it shutdown when I just wake it from sleep, or even when phone is booting. And when it off I can turn it on normally without the need to do a battery-pull. Already wipe data and reinstalled rom but the issue still there. So now I don't have any clue about this issue (but it seems more like a hardware-related issue now)

Used to happen to me too when I was on NeoWave and few people reported the same. It's because of lowered voltages...so you either have to read a few last pages in NeoWave rom's thread where someone wrote how to solve it or change the rom like I did.

So your phone turns off in Carbon too???
Did you do a clean install (wiping all cache and data) before installing both of these roms?
You could try LiquidSmooth too...I'm using it for 3 days now and haven't had any reboot, force close or lag at all.

I always do a clean install (actually I even wipe cache and data when update from the same rom ). Also I tried anything posted in NeoWave rom thread that can fix this but result doesn't change. And my phone turns off so randomly that make me think that it might be some hardware issue. Will try LiquidSmooth and see

Hi guys,
I have recently downloading the new Cyanogenmod for the Milestone, and although its a pretty good mod, I haven't been able to download things from google market. I have installed GAPPS when it was required, and I can navigate the market fine, it even picks up my bought purchases. However, when I click on download,it says that it is downloading but the bar doesn't move. I;ve reflashed and rebooted numerous times but that doesnt seem to have fixed the problem. I was wondering if any of you had experienced the same thing and if so, how could I fix it?
I have plenty of space on my phone and my SD card too so I can't see where the problem lies.
update, I have looked around a little, and it may be a problem that I cannot connect to googletalk server. Anyone know how to resolve this?
Also, switching from wireless to 3g to 2g doesn't seem to help either.
Having the same problem with my X10! Will show updates for my existing apps but when I click on them to update it just states that they are downloading and they never update! I have power cycles the phone, stopped the update, installed the Google market updates and tried again, still the same result!
I have a rooted X 10 with 2.1.
Anybody else having the same problem?
totally weird, but everything seems to be in working order now. I didn't do anything at all either.
I had to connect to flashtool and reload the os to get it working again!
Tried finding just the market .she file but wasn't sure which one was the one that was messed up! Didn't want to make it worse so just flashed the whole OS

I can't download from the Market and it's annoying when i want to download some apps in a big hurry. I see that i'm not the only one facing this problem, but may i ask for help here? what can i do to fix this problem? you have my thanks
Did you try flashing the OS again or reloading the CM6 ROM? Mine has been working fine since I flashed my OS again.

Wipe data, then flash the ROM. Google Apps you need to wipe both cache partition and dalvik cache AFTER flashing the ROM.

I used to have this problem after extendend periods without a wifi connection... it seemed like my purchases would only download on wifi, whereas free apps would d/l on cellular networks
I do have Market problems from time to time, being unable to download. I've try pretty much everything but nothing helped, except: waiting! If apps fail to download constantly, they'll do just fine the next day ...
It seems that the Market has internal problems that cause this. Also I have this behaviour once in a while: viewing "my apps" in the Market will sometimes (!) only show me the Google Apps (Maps, YouTube, etc.) and all the ones that I purchased but *no* free apps at all.
Same again: waiting some time will restore the original (and correct) list.

My wi-fi is turning on by itself after i manually turn it off. And even when i set plane mode the wi-fi is still on. At first i thought it was impossible and i was dreaming but no. This is really annoying me, my battery won't last a day with my wifi always on.
If anyone could possibly help me with this problem i would really aprecciate it! =(
Oh and i already tried wiping all user data and tried flashing other roms as well. I tried shadowmod and cyanogen too. currently i'm using the froyomod 2.7. All have the same problem. I really don't know what to do.

Do you have any 3rd party power saving apps installed? For example, I have an app called "Network Switcher" installed, that given certain conditions, it turns on or off 3g and wifi. I have it set to turn 3g and wifi off between 11:15pm and 7:15am if the screen is off. (this helps save a ton of battery while I'm sleeping)
Your screenshot doesn't look like a clean stock ROM, so even if you did wipe data, it looks like you installed some stuff. Did you do a complete wipe back to stock, and it's still doing this?
No, i don't use any apps to save battery or manage my networks. And yes, everytime i install or upgrade to a new rom i wipe all data. I haven't tried using the 2.2 stock rom to see if i'd have the problem there too. I'm currently using froyomod, i have always used modified roms and i'd never had this sort of problem before.

So when did it start happening? Did you notice it after you installed something? Or after you flashed your current ROM? Did you have anything installed before that may have been saved to your SD card using apps2sd, and it somehow got "lost", but the setting remained?
If I were you, I would flash the stock 2.2.1 SBF (get it here: http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone221), and reflash the latest FroyoMOD on top of that. First back up all your app data using TB though, and restore afterwards. That may be your only hope.
I noticed it after i installed Froyomod 2.7, but i don't think it was the rom since nobody else complained about a problem like that. And i haven't installed any different apps than the ones i've always used.
Thank you for the advice! I'll try to flash the SBF file right now, and i will also erase my SD Card, just in case.
I'll let you know after it's done. Thanks again!!
Unfortunately i did everything as i was told and nothing worked, the problem won't go away. Guess i'll have to use the 2.1 stock rom. It's better than having my wi-fi always on. But thanks for the help!! =)

Turns out you're not the only one... see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1064823
They did not have any solutions that worked for them either though. Sorry.
Yes, a few people had this problem as well, but nobody said if they got to fix it or if it stopped.
The most annoying thing: I went back to 2.1 stock rom because i thought it would stop, when i installed it was ok but after a few hours that i'm using the rom the problem started again.
This really sucks. I will never buy any motorola products no more.
Anyway, thanks for your help. It's really good to have helpful people on this forum.
Turning the airplane mode on will not disable your wifi... only the radio(antena).
The question is: does your radio works normally?

Hi, I think the problem is coming from the ROM.
First you should wipe cach/data. I mean factory reset, then download a newly fresh Open Recoveries, and do the flash ROM again and place it into SD card (remember to delete the old one: Nandroid and Open recoveries folders and update.zip file). THIS STEP IS IMPORTANT.
Here is the link of CM7 ROm but very light. it si good for MS than ever:
http://www.mediafire.com/?hdymcqvueo8opm9
Below is the google apps package:
http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/GV5OSDAN/Gapps_CM7_new.zip_links (including Gtalk)
I use it and it works well.
Hey,
this problem started only today and has never happened before. The only things changing were some app updates and a few new installs. I already uninstalled all of the apps installed in the last few days in hopes of reverting the situation but it didn't help. And after I made the first reboot when the apps began to force close randomly it looked like a semi factory reset was made. All my contacts are gone, there are no SMS/call logs, but all SMSes, pictures and videos are still there. If I try to open the Market app it asks me if I accept TOS, Gmail is not set, mobile internet is not working (due to reset settings), Wi-Fi and bluetooth settings are still there. In short, everything is half-fuc*ed.
What do you thing happened? And is there any possibility I can go back to a normal state without starting from fresh?

i9000 random loss of data
Yes, this is a rather old thread I'm trying to revive here, but as it is adviced to continue those instread of duplicating them, here are my issues:
I gave my i9000 to a relative ~a year ago and recently it started acting strange. About 1-2 times a month I get a call from that relative saying: "I get a lot of force closes, phone is unusable, nothing works". I then walk over, take a look and yes, unusable. It appears that all information in the /system partition gets lost for no reason. The relative told me that this usually happens when some google apps are updating, but it might still be random.
Currently MackayRom (latest) is installed.
Usually when I got the call, I hopped over to my relative, did a factory reset (wipe of /system and /data + Cache and Dalvik Cache) then reflashed the ROM and Gapps and everything looked good again. Sadly the issue continues to return.
What I tried so far is a complete wipe of anything, reverting to a stock TW Rom, and going back to an AOSP Rom from there (first CM 11, then Mackay). The issue appeard to be gone afterwards, I didn't hear from that relative for an unusual amount of time, but after a month or 1 1/2, it returned.
My guess is, that one of the chips that are containing the /system partition is broken or at least close to die (I'm not sure if it is just one or multiple chips, since the CM Team or Pawit himself changed something in the partition structure somewhere between cm10, cm10.1 and cm11 to ensure the compatibility of that old device with KitKat). Anyways, I'd love to hear any ideas or suggestions on how to solve this issue (although I reached a point where I think that solving this isn't possible anymore, unless I wanna swap the Mainboard, which would mean paying an amount of money that I could get a new phone for as well.) Soon as I have the time, I'll Odin-flash the latest TW Rom to the device and have my relative use that for a while, just to see if the different/older partition structure helps in any way.
Thanks in advance for any replies .
I am having trouble with the packet data, it keeps disconnecting itself at random times. One minute i am surfing the facebook and the next minute the 2G/3G icon above the network bars goes off, the settings>about phone>status says Mobile Network State:Connected, but IP address:unavailable. Signal strength remains same as usual. The Packet Data settings in Mobile and Networks remains enabled(checked) but it just stops working.
This used to happen before when i was using Apocalypse(CM7) rom and happens now also with PAC rom(CM10).
At times i do an advanced restore of the system and it starts working again but sometimes even that also doesn't help. I have also tried switching on airplane mode and turning it off to see if the phone catches the signals again and hope it starts working again but it never helps. I usually keep '2G only' option clicked but i have tried switching it off and still it does not work. I am not using any other app that controls my packet data.
Any fixes, suggestions or opinions please??
Anyone??
I also facing the same problem as you on pac rom

Well i did a full wipe when i flashed both these roms, i always do a full wipe before flashing a rom, still i'll try it again. But i was hoping someone could explain the exact cause of the problem because i faced this in two different roms, otherwise i would have posted this in the rom's thread itself.
What does the gps fix has to do here?
I used the lagloose's gps fix when i used apocalypse, gps worked fine, only the data gave trouble. I am probably one of the very few people who had barely one or two bugs in apocalypse, rest all have a long list of bugs with apocalypse.
Was this a rom specific issue?
I face this on my network on every rom I try, and usually, all it takes is to switch the net off from the status bar toggle and use an app called "Restart Connection" (very small app, search play store)
And then switch packet data back on from the status bar...
Works 70% of the time...

I haven't used apocalypse much bcoz I prefer stability & long battery. The problem might be anything. Donno what in specific but mostly an unclean system. Once I used a .lib file to fix cm9 camera & as it didn't work, I thought of going back to the myth 2 go green rom. I wiped everything & flashed the myth but you know what happened ? My camera was getting a fc & my battery drained off in 10 mins ! I hope you can relate things. Do this, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvic cache, wipe battery stats ( has given me a bit better battery life everytime ), format data/cache/system/sd-ext. Do this twice if you want & then make a clean flash by following the exact steps. If there's no bug in the apocalypse, then this will, must & should help. I guarantee you. If still this doesn't help, I bet no app on earth can help you overcome. Report it to itasoulas & ask for a fix or just flash any other rom...

I have been experiencing this for a while: after rebooting my phone, the exact momment it finishes booting up, it starts shutting down, no matter what custom ROM I have flashed, so it makes me believe it's not ROM related, but related to the bootloader or something like that. after banging my head against the wall for so long I couldn't find any solution, so I'd like to know what's your opinion about it.
Edit: forgot to mention I've tried all the routine methods, cleaning dalvik/cache, wiping system, data and even internal storage without any success, that's why I believe it is bootloader related, but I'm no expert so...
