Hi Guys,
I have managed to compile our ICS kernel with Linaro 4.7 and make it bootable after too much trouble.....
The kernel is compiled with o3 optimization
Toolchain used from made by Christopher83
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2098133
The kernel is tested with Nooby's v30b repack....
The kernel is build from original source i.e it has the first LED not working issue during Boot....
I would like to hear if there's any improvements or its just the same....
It was learning experience for me build a kernel .....
I do not guarantee of providing timely improvements or etc
I do not have a github etc...
can someone help me with that....i want to start it from zero ....with original source and will put patches on it...
I am attaching the patch as a zip file,..is a normal zip file with all the code necessary to compile the kernel with linaro,,,
it also has code of rmcc patch
O3 and linaro equals hard to debug bugs and no performance improvements.
Can you make one kernel for ligux rom?

The O3 flag would not give much improvement over the O2 flag as the optimizations that are brought in are only applicable in a few places and the kernel isn't that computation heavy. I still want to see a O2 and Os comparison, but I don't have time to waste on things like that these days.
As for different tool chains. I have seen a benchmark sometime ago with different kernels compiled with different toolchains. The difference was marginal and seemed to differ with kernels as well as toolchains (Some toolchains just like and dislike some kernels) . Overall Code Sourcery's toolchain did best on average I think.

I was actually waiting for user replies ..but it seems no one is using my kernel...
Also i am actually busy for some time....will be providing the source either in a zip or setup a git by following your guide

Just give him some time it's always hard, when you are new to a subject... and hey, if you provide some benchmarks and further improvements, why should noone wanna use it?

Hi guys i have provided the patch to compile kernel with linaro in my OP....
regarding performance i didn't observe anything...
2days ago i officially updated my phone from 2.2 to 4.0 v30c because i wanted all my apps preserved.....
and today i experience sdcard unmount....i didnt experience it with my kernel and nooby v30b repack...maybe because i had i freshly installed...not sure....
i have not yet tried my kernel with v30c....because i have yet to patch the bootlaoader and install cwm...as per another threads to do this,,,maybe i will plan to
do this this weekend,,,,
Oh ...i got my phone reset when did reboot in recovery without any recovery with anreboot...and lost all my phone data....all efforts gone to wain...now i have to root and install apps again
Also my ICS version show 30C-SEA and i am from India...
I flashed official v30c and experienc ed sd card unmount. ..then installed v30b unlocked loader ...then installed my kernel and have been testing it....no sd unmount and also frontkey leds works according to settings done.....
Those who still have unmount problem can try my kernel in OP if you are using v20 bootloader. ..and those who use unlocked v30 unlocked bootloader dont use the Kernel attached in OP otherwise bootloop..just reply to me and I will attach the new one....

Thanks for your work, but I think everybody here need a optimize kernel, because, you know, the stock kernel isn't enough good

I don't think there's any kernel fully optimized yet..
I asked only for those who get sd unmount to try my kernel. ..no one is forced to use it....

Just give a try with French v30C's kernel. They fixed ondemand gov. and there isn't any sd unmounting. I'm using it since it went out and hadn't any problems.

I see a attached file have some download, but no one give the feedback that with your kernel is the sd fixed or not. Because I don't have that issue.
About the optimization, just is my suggestion

There are monthly updated ROMs and Kernels, you might be interested in.
Due to very little internet package I cant test them. If you find any ROM/Kernel useful please inform us all.
Alright guys, this is the place for all Questions, Discussions about CM11 that are not development related.
This way, we can keep the dev thread clean, but still can have some discussions about CM11.
But please do not get too off topic, 'cause otherwise I will have the thread cleaned without further warnings
Cheers!
And a merry christmas y'all!

About camera, we do know it's not working, we also do know why (system is unable to find the correct sensor (-modes)), but the fixing is not that easy. But we sure are working on it.
tf700 blobs were looking pretty promising though, so let's see
Questions?
Finally a Q&A thread
--------------------------------------
Well I wanna ask some questions if possible
* can I use Werewolf custom kernel (any kernel version) with this ROM for a better performance and some OC  and is it gonna be fully compatible with KitKat and @laufersteppenwolf are you gonna make CM11 version of your amazing custom kernel.
Also
* How is vidieo playback on KitKat, I heard that it's much worse than Jelly bean?!
* If you fix the camera soon are we gonna get @30 FPS while recording 1080p videos?
*is there any improvements in bettary life in Android KitKat?!
and finally
*is there any estimated date for a fully stable release?
------------------------------------------
Thanks to all Devs for this great work! :victory:

1. Yes, yes you can. Laufer may do, most likely will, might not, who knows, wait and see..
2. Haven't tried yet, but I didn't see anything bad with it in JB :s
3. You cannot tell how the camera will perform without knowing the fix, only time will tell.
4. Most likely from googles part, test it and judge for yourself.
5. No ETAs, because they can't predict when they're going to fix bugs can they? xD be patient..

First Thanks for the Reply
and yes I knew I could use Google for some questions but I meat our device in particularly
and I'm gonna flash ROM with Google apps and test it tonight but when I was Backing up my current ROM with CWM 6.0.4.4 during Backup process it said android_secure not found and continued backup process and then it told me backup was successful, now if I tried to use the backup in the future would it work?
I think .android_secure is for when you install apps to SD. Your backup should restore fine.

has anyone tried implementing EPRJ RIL in KK builds? @dcos i'm looking at you mostly, since you said you made it work back when they were still building it and had RIL issues.
also, thanks for christmas present guys, and merry christmas/happy new year to you all
Ok Google?
Guys! why I can't find Okay Google feature to call voice search?? I saw other KitKat ROMs for other devices and it already has that feature enabled !!
is it disabled for battery saving?
Hi. Since CM11 and Omni ROm have the same source, is it possible to switch between those ROM back and forth without clean install?
Btw, I'm using CM11
Edit: yes I can. With some force closes of course.
Also Real Racing always force closes, but it works fine in Omni
Only Chuck Norris can judge me

Hi. And yes, I've included it to my PA 4 (4.4), and it's working nicely so it will be included in future releases.
I'm not ready to make first release yet since I'm lacking the time to test it thoroughly.
I'm considering taking one alpha tester, one that would use it and provide me logs, etc. So if you're interested let me know.
P.S. I'm not sure will I make until release before camera is working.

I installed cm11 and I used titanium backup to restore all the apps I had with cm 10.2 nightly version.
I noticed that the browser (google chrome) became slower when loading a website, and when it comes to clicking on buttons it takes quite a lot of time that before it didn't, it's like I can't touch the screen or it'll make it harder.
The keyboard is improved, a bit faster than the 4.3 version.
Audio improvements as written in the main post.
Camera lacking (but it'll be fixed soon as I read it somewhere).
The overall system is more responsive and faster than Android 4.3.
I tried to use ART and I don't know, I didn't find much difference from using Dalvik, maybe just a bit with other apps, the browser (Google Chrome) is still a bit slower than 4.3.
I would like to ask if using ART could make loose data so far, and if it's too risky to use as it is now.
What about this laggy feeling with Google Chrome? It's the same using Dalvik or ART.. Anyone else did notice it?
Thanks
Edit: I found out via trickster mod that the cpuquiet was again on balanced instead of runnable, now Google Chrome works better, not perfectly but fine.

NEXT RELEASE: 27 AUGUST 2014 GMT+8 0900
With the introduction of so many kernels in the forums, every user just wants his/her phone to enjoy the crisp experience of their device. With ASKP, you get to enjoy the brilliant works of all developers into one small kernel. ASKP, is a modified kernel that merges many tweaks together, just like P.A.C.
ASKP is only run by me and pattyboi for now. Please bear with the slow speed of updates. I'm working on 3.4 for the Galaxy Nexus and also for you guys at the same time.
I promised before, ALL ROMS WILL BE SUPPORTED. But when I say ASKP is fully released. For now, I'll be releasing slowly. So please bear with me.
Supporting Devices:
LG G2
Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Variants of ASKP released for per-ROM basis statuses: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53569650&postcount=6
READ THIS FIRST
- There's always a name in each file right? The word at the end is the most important. And of course, make sure the model number is correct.
ONLY TWO WORDS ARE GIVEN FOR SIMPLICITY. STOCK and CAF.
- CAF kernels are for AOSP ROMs. A N/CAF (Non-CAF AOSP) Kernel will also be present upon full release of ASKP.
- ASKP has just started venturing into G2's development, please be patient if there is no support for your ROM yet.
- I am not responsible for any problems incurred on your device. This kernel is not fit to be a daily driver YET. Still in pre-alpha stage.
Changelog To Be Released after Alphas.

I also want to thank him for his own build script, without it, I couldn't have built kernels as fast as before.

Nice! And the important advice for You right now: You REALLY SHOULD write which ROMs do You support and which G2 variants.
There are some ROMs based on dr87 sources like SlimKat, and Mahdi ROM itself, there is CarbonROM and PA which use other sources.
Aaand there is CM which didn't even get updated to KK sources, lol.

You're using Cloudy's G3 eh. You're on luck. That's the first one.
Releases In order for Stock G2 and Ported G3 ROMs,
D802 (Released)
D800 (Released)
D801 (Released)
D803
VS980
LS980
After this,
Releases for All devices for Paranoid.
Then,
Releases for All devices for CM.
Also,
Releases for All devices under Mahdi's Sources.
Finally,
Releases for the next MOST requested ROM.
After this, expect features to fly in.
@nimrodsv Go ahead and ask him.
Guys, once again. THIS IS NOT A COPY OF DORIMANX.
I only copied his RAMDisk with his permission. Without it, I wouldn't be able to boot on the majority of ROMs.
The kernel source itself will be different from his indefinitely.
Wow, I am so lucky ☺
I will test it and let you know how is it. Thanks for replying.

You guys misunderstood me, meh. I didn't even say anything about the THREAD. It's the first one. The second one is, I just report to the dev what I see, I didn't say that it's a steal or anything, I just said that situation like that exists. Because i saw that there's everything like in dorimanx kernel, than maybe something went wrong with making the kernel.
Oh and about Intelli features, i see there are Intellidemand/Intelliactive govs, EcoMode, Intelli HotPlug, I REPORT it, REPORT, not ACCUSE.
Dang i hate misunderstandings. I appreciate every work and never want to make someone stop his work. Duh.
If dorimanx allowed to share everything with features he added like this now, then it's alright, I just reported in case he didn't allow it and You wouldn't see that or something.
So @Amperific keep going and sorry that u understood me wrong
Finally. We need more kernel devs. Thanks for joining the party!

I had to install a nandroid of the ROM I was using, to get back to the old kernel . yet still not work for me the Aptoide when you used to and is giving me error in the camera application and stops , so I will try to reinstall everything from 0 and see if it works with the kernel stock and try again with this kernel and see if it stops me working again , if you work then it is not kernel problem , but if i happens again I will have to return to report the error or maybe it's something else that I am installed causing this conflict but I doubt it because I install very basic things ...

This kernel will only work with ROMS based on AOSP. If Aptoide is a stock rom, or anything other than AOSP, forget the effort. It will not work.
So this kernel is compatible with CM12 nightlies coming out at the moment, or am i wrong?

I'll post a LP version tomorrow. it's working fine. The current is kitkat.
Amazing kernel indeed, only thing missing is RGB color correction, because of purple-ish color on low brightnes settings. Keep on good work!
I'm using Battery by Macropinch to monitor amperage. The latest kernel using the smartmax governor, I'm happy to report, is dipping into the 100mA range quite frequently with wifi and LTE on using the the 1-15-2015 cm12 build. I was getting upset that my cheap Huawei Y536A1 LTE phone was hitting this range on stock and lasting two days on a single charge and my Moto X was staying in the 400-500mA without even touching it, but now I think I think this is a good early indication that we can be seeing good idle and casual use power drain on the moto x. Cheers!
PS: I never post, I didn't mean to post this in the Q&A section. How do I delete it?

Actually, it's in the kernel I last uploaded, just fails to keep the touchscreen alive. Once I fix that, we'll have it. Give me a week -- very busy with work.

Really Thanks. Any help is great.
Alright folks.
As users of Mahdi-Rom have noticed, Dr87 has been awhile on updates. From reading people say he's stated that he's ceased development for the G2 until Android L drops. Given that, I've began working on my on builds of this rom as well as major modfiications to his base kernel based on Dorimanx's Stock kernel. I had tried Bart452's and the audio patch never worked quite right in all apps. It's also lacking hardware acceleration for video on this rom for some reason.
ALL FILES POSTED HERE ARE "AS-IS". THEY SHOULD ALL BE CONSIDERED EXPERIMENTAL.
I don't plan on providing support, adding devices, changing features. These will simply be builds of the ROM based off of a repo sync ... Nothing more, Nothing Less. These are being made based on the Mahdi 4.4.3-CAF repo source. This may or may not be the correct one, but it boots and seems to work on my device. This then gets the sources from Dr87's upgrade guide added in. lunched as VS980 (my device) and the OTApackage made.
If anyone has any tips/recommendations for better places to pull the source from (if there's a more appropriate one).... OR if there a better place to pull individual portions of the ROM from in the manifest, I'm all ears.
As far as my kernel modifications, I'll just be calling it "SimpleKernel+". I may end up talking to Dorimanx to get his blessing to keep the name, as I don't want to steal his credit or work, but also don't want to cause confusion either. This may take some time to start releasing builds of. For the time being, I've just mass-reverted some of one of Bart452's old ports of Dorimanx's kernel. I would only release for the VS980, as thats my device. But it's pretty quick to build for the others and repack them.
I don't want to sound rude or anything like that. But for the people that don't bother reading... I'm not a dev, I'm not maintaining this, I'm not coding for it. So posting feature requests and such will most likely go ignored.
I'm syncing sources and building. For the kernel, I'm picking commits and building. Most all commits to the kernel will probably come from Dorimanx's repo. I just don't feel right keeping the name when I'm not taking *all* his commits, as I'm going to avoid things for sound and video.
All coding has been done by Dr87 and Dorimanx and all the people they thank in their threads.

Also, for anyone curious. This should work with fauxsound as it has his mods in it, the STweaks app that's included actually has a volume boost bit in it. Also, cf.Lumen 2.40 *will* work with this rom/kernel combo. You just need to prevent it from updating, as newer version do not work with it.
Known issues :
Kernel Video playback doesn't use hardware modes. This prevents using Netflix. I'll investigate into this.
Some proximity issues.

Sorry, I left it out of the op..
You NEED to flash the associated patch still from the official thread.
I build these for my device, hence the name. I only share them because, why not....

Been running on d803 flawlessly since you first posted it, even dirty flashed over d87s last build. Thanks for putting out builds while Dr seems fairly busy which I fully understand as I built and maintained on the i717 for 2 years.

Did you flush dr87's patch from his thread? That step is still required.
Works on my vs980 but I know someone else reported similar

Why would they? Per my op, I'm only syncing Mahdi repos and building with no modifications. They're unofficial because they agent built by Mahdi. They're unmaintained because I'm not going fixes, changes, or anything of the like. These are only up for people that don't build themselves.

Seems 720p YouTube doesn't work for me. Anyone else? Or is this the same as the Netflix issue?

Ok, so after spending the last 4 or 5 days trying to shoe-horn Dorimanx's commits in on Dr87's base... through picks, rebases, reverts... etc... I gave up.
What this means, is that I'm abandoning trying to port his kernel to aosp. What I'll be doing is picking various things to improve the kernel, largely from faux123 on nexus5. This should give us a lot of benefit, with minimal issues. I'll also likely pull the nexus tree for mahdi, which i'd bet is what dr87 was building off of... given the similarity in the devices...
