Is....is that ONE sentence? I know you're new here, but if you want people to be able to accurately help you, you need to punctuate so we know what you're saying.
ANYWAY, If you can access the bootloader all is not lost. Have you got adb installed on a pc (windows 7 preferably)? If you do, plug your phone into the computer while in fastboot post the results of the command "fastboot getvar all" and edit out your serial number and imei. From there we might be able to find and run the correct ruu for your device. That might help recover the phone to a working state.

Hey there thank you for the reply . I am sorry about my bad grammar I actually don't have a windows computer Iv got a iMac is there anyway I can do this on my iMac . I really do appreciate your help thank you

Yes, you can run the commands on a Mac. This post FAQ #3 will explain the syntax. You will need if you don't have them already is the ADB and Fastboot programs. I'm not familiar with the Mac so I don't know how it works on the Mac. The download site will have instructions.

Thank you I'll get that up and running. I also mite be able to get my hands on a windows laptop may work tonight but I'll post a reply with the results of the search thank you again

Hey guys Iv tried on two different computers now but I don't no if it's because the phone is in fast boot but it will not install the drivers for the phone correctly
Do any of you guys know where I could directly install the drivers for the phone from Iv tried downloading htc sync but that didn't work

If not, follow this guide (thanks to nkk71):
originally from @nkk71: [GUIDE] [02-MAR-2014] nkk71's SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock
follow the below instructions to fix
Open "Device Manager" -> select the unknown "One" -> right-click -> "Update Driver Software ..." -> "Browse my computer" -> "Let me pick" -> "Android USB Devices" -> select "My HTC ..." -> install that
just in case, HTC Drivers can be found here: [Drivers] HTC Drivers for Windows - Several Versions (credits to @mdmower)
though you should already have them since you have been using your phone anyways
for those who like a visual guide:
okay so I did a fastboot boot command, and as you can see it didnt install correct driver
Open "Device Manager"
there's the culprit
right click and Update Driver Software
select Browse my computer for driver software
select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
select Android USB Devices
select My HTC ... (if you have more than one version, choose the latest)
warning, select Yes
successful installation
now it looks better

It still comes up at unknown device when I connect regardless maybe I should try install it on another computer but I'll install android SDK and htc sync first or is that not the right way to go

Hey guys I'm not sure if Iv made some progress i read somewhere that someone left there's on charge for 4 days and that then calibrated the battery.
When I normally put it on charge the red light flashes at a normal pace and a normal brightness then when the battery logo comes up with the red ! It flashes faster but dimmer.
This morning I thought I'd try a different plug in the wall as mine isn't a htc plug it was a Samsung s3 charger. someone said to try charger it fast with my iPad charger so I used my plug in the wall and my lead left it for two hours and it actually looks like it is charger better the red light is flashing but it's flashing at a normal pace and normal brightness but I don't want to try turn it on incase it starts all over again.
What should I do guys should I just leave it will it try turn itself on or will it just charge

Typically the led will turn solid when charging and the phone will show a battery icon on the screen. Leave it to charge for a while longer see what happens. If nothing changes, turn it on again and try the steps we suggested in this thread.

Still nothing but a blinking light Iv orderd another battery to see if that makes i change altho been told this is a new battery because now it won't charge I can't even get back into HBOOT menu because it's that flat

Is your computer detecting your phone now? it's best not to have HTC sync installed at all as it will interfere with fastboot but shouldn't effect the drivers. You can uninstall HTC sync and leave the drivers installed.
If all else fails use Linux if Linux doesn't detect your phone nothing will. You can boot it from a live usb pendrive from a Mac or PC without altering the main os installed on the computer in any way.

Problem solved I guess...

After hard resetting my device I could not activesync. My pc says device unkonwn (connected device has malfunctioned). I tried to use pocket mechanic on my device to reformat my sd card and it also says "error... a device attached to the system is not functioning". On my computer under driver details - driver node strong name it said ".../baddevice/..."
I tried putting phone in bootloader mode and running KaiserRUU to install new rom device shows serial then plug to PC says USB but nothing happens RUU says no device found or whatever.
I tried to SD flash a new ROM from via bootloader...white screen flashes says No Image File Found! Then goes back bootloader screen...
I would appreciate anyone that can help or point me in the direction of where to get help with this cuz i know and have done all the basics to solve the problem I think and its just not working...
Edit: I just plugged my phone up to the computer using my girlfriends usb cord to her sidekick and wouldnt you know the pc start building a new driver for my device... so i guess even tho the original usb cord malfunctioned or something... funny tho it would still charge my phone and show USB in the bootloader screen... Back to flashing

yes but nobody told you to post it here. The first time you posted it was in Garmin's thread, which is fine because that is the rom you flashed, although, it is not rom specific. You created two additional threads and received enough information to figure it out.
If you haven't figured it out you can always try this:
1) close all windows mobile device center and active sync applications on your pc task manager
2) uninstall windows mobile device center from your pc and reboot
3) reinstall windows mobile device center to your pc
4) insert usb cable into your device
5) when windows mobile device center opens select "connect without setting your device"
6) remove usb
7) reinsert usb then select set up your device
This is how I get active sync to work when I have the issue you are experiencing.

Well that didnt work... I dont think it is my computer... this has to be something with the device its self... and if anyone knows for sure please let me know wut to do...
What can I say other then Vista Mobile Device Center Sucks Major.
Best way to see if its your device, try to sync it with another computer, borrow a friend's or try at work.
Go in to ActiveSync on your device, and Menu -> Options. Select the Windows PC and Delete. That may help too.

OK. If you can't select Options that Means, i think, that there is no Partnership set up.

when you make changes to your registry and you perform a hard reset everything you altered in the registry resets back to when you flashed the new rom, "fresh out of the flash" sort of speak.

I just plugged my phone up to the computer using my girlfriends usb cord to her sidekick and wouldnt you know the pc start building a new driver for my device... so i guess even tho the original usb cord malfunctioned or something... funny tho it would still charge my phone and show USB in the bootloader screen... bricked HD

So, lets start at the begining.
Today I was testing the new android build from 20nov.
Everything went fine until restarting my phone into windows. The phone did boot properly, exept the screen stayed off.
Touch input did work.
After a couple of restarts everything was back to normal and i picked up the testing from the android build again.
However, a later on the same problem arised. This time more persistent.
Also the led wouldn't go on anymore when charging the phone...
After 30 tries of rebooting a decided to hard-reset the phone by holding Vol down+up and power. Then waiting a while (because i couldn't see what was happening) and then pressed vol up to hard reset.
Then waited like 5 minutes and then tried to boot again by holding the power button.... Nothing
Then waited another 5 minutes, pulled out the battery and tried another boot.
No succes either.
Bottom-line now.
The phone is dead, won't react to anything, no charging no booting.
What can I do???
No stock rom, so i guess no warranty???
Really hope someone can help!!!
Ouch , you're right about the no guarantee rule but i don't know what u could do ..
Best of luck pal.
Maybe anyone got any experience with garanty+ a flashed rom.
Who brought therte phone back with a flashed rom without telling HTC and got their warranty?
Would be great if that worked (a)
Can you do anything with phone? Try taking battery out for 24hrs before re-inserting it and attempting to reboot. If you can still do nothing with device you may have bricked it and only thing which can be done is to return it, though warranty void. Have you tried asking within Android thread to see if anyone else has had similar issues?

Thanks for the battery tip, i'll try that!
about an hour ago i did get a little response from my phone. It vibrated after pushing the on button!
And then nothing....
This only happens when the phone is not connected to usb(charger or pc, no difference).
I did post my problem in the android thread, however no response.
I'll also PM phhusson about my problem. Would be nasty if more people would brick their phone.
Still like to hear some experiences with the garanty-service of HTC if anyone has got any
if it is so "dead" nobody can say if the ROM was original or not. let them think is a hardware problem and replace yr device!!

Well that is probably what i'm gonna do/try if I can't reanimate is myself
Just hope there really is no way of telling by HTC themselves...
Maybe try to see if you can flash a ROM image on it again from the SD card - doing it blind, there are only a few keys to press to reflash, maybe the screen is not working but the device powers up occasionally ?

Try to flash a new cooked rom. Remove battery, then wait 30 secs, then put back battery and push volume down and power button simultaneously. Then you can flash a new rom.
It worked for me.
(sorry for my "english")
intresting
so, tried to flash via RUU.exe+connecting to my pc.
What I did:
-Vol down+power button
-connect phone to my pc via usb.
-run RUU.exe with a dutty rom
-then RUU says it couldn't find my phone.
However, my pc (windows 7) does!
But not how it is supossed to do it.
Check out the screen to see what i mean.
Maybe something more can be doen now? Anyone knows what is going on here?

Maybe you just need to change drivers??? Becouse sometimes Vista change it by itself, so I think 7 can work in the same way?!
Try it, as far as can see from your screen there are no drivers installed
""Manufacturer: Unknown
Device Status: The driver for this device are not installed.""
Go to - Windows Mobile Device Center, then select - Mobile Device Settings, Connection Settings, then uncheck - Allow USB Connections.
Normally this would be ticked to allow syncs etc but to flash a rom it needs to be unchecked.
I cant tell from your post if you have done this or not.
Hope it helps.

I dont have W7 but would imagine it will be similar.
I don't really think it's compulsory to uncheck this. I have it checked and flash my roms without any problems.
But Blackstone is not a friend of Seven at first. You have to tell him to recognise the other.
I have installed the windows-mobile device center from microsoft website and then Windows 7 recognized my HD otherwise I got the same problem as you (no driver).
Hope it can help !

You may be right but mine will not work with the check mark still on.
H
It does look like a driver issue. Follow this thread to get the necessary usb drivers.
Do you have the Hspl? If yes can't you try flashing from the sd card? (The connection issue you showed is when you are in active sync mode, isn't it?)
Have you tried to flash an original ROM? It should work regardless of your USB connection settings and if you manage to do that and still no life in your hd - you can return it with warranty. And one more suggestion - find a XP machine to do this. Btw - flashing through the SD card is a very, VERY good idea.
succesfull flash, no result.
First of all, a huge thanks to you guys!
The idea's and help u came up with really made my day.
Second, I got to flash my phone. With the right drivers installed everything worked like it supposed to work.
However, the same problems still persist....
So I think this problem is deeper then rom orientated (ideas?)
Anyhow, now I'm able to flash a original rom to my phone, which should help my warranty!
Great job guys, kudos to you

I already tried flashing through the SD card. Normally this is the way to go for me, but it didn't seem to do any good this time (not sure if I performed it correctly, since my screen is "dead")
I'm a bit confused... you managed to flash rom? So your sync works? (on the other side you say your screen is dead?)

You need to get the drivers for it as the S3 use MTP when it connects to the pc. No longer does it use mass storage mode. A search for the drivers will get you what it needs.
worry not
Same as already said dont worry search google for plenty of driver downloads..I still get them messages even with so called drivers installed,i just unplug usb then plug back in.s3 has mind of its own lot of the time untill you beat it hard with a few harsh words..lol

Yeah the Samsung drivers are about as stable as Manson on LSD:cyclops:
This does not look like a driver problem... more a user that has backed up his IMEI and forgot to but the phone back in normal operation mode.

Your phone should not be detected as a Qualcomm if in correct mode, in correct mode it will find it as a Samsung device. So if you just bought it a did nothing to it then take it back.

I'm quite sure the settings should be: PDA/PDA/MTP+ADB (or just MTP)...
And when you connect it to a computer it should identify itself as Samsung and not Qualcomm like your screen shot says.

No, perhaps the Modem/Modem you have instead of the PDA/PDA I have. I've only seen it identified as Qualcomm when these settings were not correct.

hmm...there must be a solution for this, it all seems like software conflict to me cuz my phone doesn't even take the usb drivers even if I update the driver manually from device manager...maybe there is drivers for qualcomm? maybe installing a rom cud fix this? who knows....I think I'll just keep looking and wait for other people to respond.

I did not get this Menu as you can see post #8
I changed settings one time befor saving IMEI as described in HowTo (it came up by dialing *#7284# ), and since then, it never comes back. Nor with dialing neither with commandline
Is there any other way to bring Menu up again ?

[Q] USB problems

I get this when I plug it in to a PC:

Does not work:
ADB.
Fastboot I get: "Fastboot AC"
OTG cable
Can't copy files. Does not mount
Does work:
MHL
USB charging
A/C Charging
I have tried:
Re-installing drivers.
Different PC's (4) 1 Linux system
Looking at port, which seems fine.
4 different ROMS, including 4.3 stock sense.
My question is, has anyone else had this problem? Also, can I bring it back to stock using ADB over Wi-Fi?

Do you have the HTC Sync files installed?
You can return to stock use these two threads, both are great for you

HTC Sync didn't help. I have tried a few different driver versions too.
I know how to convert back to stock. I'm just wondering if everything that needs to be done will work with ADB over Wi-Fi. I can not run any fastboot commands.
I'm sure I can figure it all out. I just want to make sure this is a hardware problem first.

I HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE! - WITH EXACTLY THE SAME GOAL: making sure it's hardware issue (hopefully not!)
Working:
Fastboot (AC)
Fastboot (USB) - can even execute some commands, etc...
Not working:
USB to pc when on (including ADB)
AC Charging when on. - only charges ( intermittently ) when off, and I just found out it charges ok in fastboot mode)
I don't think our problem is a hardware issue.
How mine started:
used to charge/sync fine, till one day it decided to go crazy (the car-mode/landscape issue, reporting "not charging when in USB OTG mode")
I believe it's got something to do with USB debugging, coz I disabled that, then it worked fine for a few ours, then it stopped charging till now.
If we by any chance find a way to fixed the firmware related to the USB drivers and charging, it might fix the bug.
This is why (I believe) just flashing a new rom / resetting didn't work.
Other things I've tried:
(1) cleaning the usb port and cable with an unused toothbrush (and a tiny bit of alcohol / methylated spirit, let to dry) - worked for a little while
(2) re-calibrating the battery:
(a) using apps for rooted phones - didn't fix
(b) the HTC support way according to the chat guy (press power+VolUp+VolDown for 2 minutes and reboot) - didn't fix
(c) the android central way (pressing power+volume up) for 30 seconds - didn't fix
(d) getting a 3rd party battery calibrating app from the android market (requires root and SU) - didn't work
(3) Factory reset - didn't fix
Now I've just hit a brick wall:
Can't use rumrunner, coz it doesn't support ADB over WiFi, and aren't planning to do so - beaups himself told me that! see this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48996304#post48996304
So that means we have to find another way to get S-off so that we can do what's posted here in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541082&highlight=not+charging
OR to be able to flash USB related custom or stock kernels - which might fix our USB issue (example here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2592412 )
I hope that helps... we are in this TOGETHER!!!

The thing is my phone isn't going crazy. I'm not having any flaky problems. Everything else works 100%. Even my MHL cable works. Just no OTG, ADB/fastboot, and can't mount my phone to any PC. I have run a few stress tests and they pass.
I just need a way to get s-on back and flash a correct CID. Outside of that I can get back to 100% stock and return it.
I don't know how these two are related, bit I think it's got something to do with my simcard slot.
I manually sliced my microsim form a normal one, and some extra contacts were cut off, and were contacting the sim tray? - anyways, my phone started charging recently from time to time, and this occurs more when i keep my other proper micro sim. I cleaned/brushed the contacts of my locally sliced sim, and it is continuing to charge as we speak. I just thought i put this out there. No harm in trying it yourself...

[Q] Bricked Z1.. please help

Hello all,
I recently installed Mondified (4.2.2 version) to my Z1, and then last night had a sudden urge to upgrade to a 4.3 or 4.4 based custom ROM.
I first copied the custom ROM zip file to USB, then used an OTG cable to plug into my Z1. I then did a factory wipe, so I could install the ROM, but then received an error while installing.
I then decided to go back to stock using the FlashTool provided by Sony, so installed everything (drivers, flashtool etc...), and reboot my phone. Now I cannot go into the recovery mode, and I also cannot flash my Z1, because it is caught in a boot loop.
What can I do from here? I cannot type in the ADB commands, since it's in an eternal recovery loop, and I also cannot access the custom recovery for some reason... I recently bricked my HTC One, and now I'm fearing the worst
Hello there. You said bootloop, didn't you? Fortunately, you're a bit lucky here. The device just refuse to boot, which mean you can flash kernel from fastboot. First question, do you feel a vibration after long press power + volume up button? Do see red led flashing?
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
Hi, it goes from "SONY" --> reboot --> "SONY" like that over and over. I deleted the OS (factory wipe), but for some reason I cannot go into recovery mode.
When I long press power + volume up, I get 3 vibrations, but no lights or led flashing. Right now it's not even showing the "SONY" logo.
Thank you,
John
-On a side note-
I am willing to send $100 to whoever can fix my Z1, and another $100 to whoever can help fix my HTC One. If the same person helps to fix both phones, I'd be willing to pay him/her $250 USD total (all via paypal gift)
I work at a fortune 500 company so my word is my promise, plus I would be negating a lot of monetary loss if I cannot resolve the brick issue!

Ok, you have flashtool don't you? Last time you flashed your phone, the flashtool recognized your device don't it?
Anyway, if you need fast conversation let me know (send me PM). I'll give my contact you. So we can communicate faster.

Hi, I randomly tried something, and it worked (last time the flashtool could not recognize my phone). basically instead of Power + Volume up, I pressed the softkey "back" button, and plugged in the USB cable. The flashtool was able to recognize my phone and I fixed it !!!!
Omegahanggara, can you help fix my HTC One? I saw your PM and just wondering... if you can, I would still be willing to send you the $100
Thanks!

Basically, I did a very stupid thing.
First: I had a custom ROM installed (Android version 4.3)
Second: I decided to upgrade to Kitkat 4.4 via OTA.... I used to be an Apple user, and it was much simpler with iphones... Naturally this was a big mistake.
Symptom: The phone is stuck at Google Logo. BTW, this is the HTC One Google Play Edition. The one thing that gives me hope, is when I boot the phone and press Power button + Volume Down, I'm taken to the bootloader menu. However, I have trouble getting my computer to recognize the device, when I try to push a custom recovery to my phone. (I forget how I deleted the custom recovery, but it's not there anymore)
Have you tried to another computer? Using Linux is a good choice if your PC didn't recognize your device.

Hmm I have CentOS running on VMplayer, maybe I'll try to see if it will recognize it from there, and let you know.
Good to know you're using Linux. This will not too hard, then

Can you connect your phone to your PC and open a terminal on your centos, and type there "lsusb" (without quotes). Then post the results here. We'll see that your centos can really discover your phone.

Try to find any stock kernel with recovery mode, like CWM. Then flash it via fastboot.
