I dunno what app is doing it. Though Facebook and Google services are the top two drainers.
Annoying.. Gsam doesn't help me figure out which app I need to delete.

why the hell would he do that? factory reset would be an absolute last resort.... and i have no idea why the hell you think installing apex would help him?
OP do you have google now enabled?
first thing i would do is disable data and disconnect wifi - make sure it is an app trying to fetch data that is causing the problem, if that turns out to be the case then simply stop all apps from syncing automatically and reenable a few at a time until you capture the problem one.
check out whether your GPS is being used too - google now would use your location and fetch data a lot, my money is on it.

fair enough... but you can be 99.99% sure that it is something you have installed that is causing it.

Uninstalled all the downloaded apps other than facebook and twitter, pretty sure it has something to do with the facebook app.

Does anyone know what I can turn off on maps location settings so that Google Now will still tell me where I am and bring up the same cards (i.e. The weather in the address I'm in, how long it will take to get back home, places to check in, etc.)?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I am guessing you can use Greenify and hibernate Maps so that it will only work on command.
Greenify all the way.

Pretty much, yes. Also if you turn off everything under Location, you will not have to worry about that much anymore. There are ways to completely freeze or remove Google Now from your device, just use Google and you'll find many articles regarding this.

I don't want to remove Google Now. That's the whole point. I wanna lessen the Maps wake locks but still get the same Google Now functionality.

Yeah, I misunderstood at the time and I wanted to edit my post but I forgot. As I mentioned, use Greenify and Google Now should work properly.
Anyone else use textra for SMS/MMS? I've noticed recently that its draining my battery like crazy. Anyone experience the same or have a god alternative app that looks similar?

ive been using it since my S3. Now on my my S5, i dont have any battery draining issues with it. Maybe try to clear data/cache or uninstall/ re install? are you rooted or anything?
Rooted with android l ROM. I think reinstalling it fixed it, but I ended up going with 8sms in my current ROM anyway. I like it better. Thanks.

The phone says out loud everything I press, it's sooo annoying. Talk Back feature isnt enabled. I actually use the calculator on my phone alot this sucks. Any help is appreciated

That sounds hilarious, sorry. As far as I saw, the only options for talking were in the extended options of language and input in settings. I'll dig around and see if I can find something. I'll definitely want it disabled myself.
I noticed this today at the worst possible time in a middle of a meeting. Can't find an option to turn it off.
Went through there as well ,unless I'm not checking something correctly... could you check your calculator app and tell me if your having the same problem?
Just got this phone and never messed around with any of thoose kind of settings anyways.

Yeah. Never tried it before
Did you give any app pemissions in accessibility. If you did read this image i attached. When you give some apps permission Samsung has some issues sometimes with the voice kicking on but Samsung actually had a work around built right into the phone.
Have recreated your problem just do the work around which the phone does for you.

This is how I shut off mine. Under Accessibility if you have anything under Services, turn them off. I had Greenify on and it made my calculator talk, but once I shut it off, calculator stopped talking. Hope it helps.
Found this page with people having same issue. Seems like tmobile and att is the pattern. Tmobile here. Greenify not installed. Double checked all my settings too.

You have to click on the settings button thats below whatever app you would have given permission look at my pic i posted you will see the settings listed at the bottom but since you say you didn't do that then there is no workaround. Did you turn on a app you didn't necessarily had to do it in accessibility some apps will just do it automatically. Can you tell me what apps you may have installed that help with battery or after market lockscreen just anything you can think of

Alright got it to finally shut up ! I cleared cache and data on the calculator app then I started getting a notification for the workaround from Greenify I guess . Whatever, it's done now and thank you guys ! What caused all this on a out of the box new note 4? It should have been easier than all that

Neither
NOTE 4
On my phone, it was caused by activating Greenify in the accessibility settings. When I did that, I got a popup telling me that my default language didn't match TTS. It offered me options of canceling, going to settings, or enabling TalkBack. So, for some reason, activating Greenify activates TalkBack. Voila. Talking calculator.
Is there any battery tracking /wakelock detector apps that don't require root?
I need to find out why my Android System has been killing my battery every single day. So frustrating

Im not sure about a wake detector app without root. But you could check out Gsam battery monitor for battery monitoring or even watchdog task manager for rogue apps. The latter is old and hasn't been updated in while, but it still works.
The gsam does show me the Android System is whats killing it but it only shows a list of apps inlcuded in there. So i m unable to see which one specifically thats killing my battery

Have you tried using Greenify to hibernate most downloaded apps? Tends to help alot with random wakelocks/battery life. You could also give cpu spy a try to see which apps are doing what.
Will try. Thanks
