use twrp 2.6.3.3 not 2.7
and try adb push instead of adb sideload
boot your phone in twrp 2.6.3.3 main menu
adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard/
wait until the rom is transferred to your pc (5 min)
wipe and then install the rom.

I have an problem with restoring backup making by TWRP.
I had B135 stock ROM fully functionally. I made many backups by TWRP 2.8.0.0 to SD card.
Yesterday I install custom ROM MIUI 5 for testing. Today I need to restore previous ROM from TWRP backup and its failed on DATA section. BOOT and SYSTEM sections is restoring successfully but DATA fail just on start ! No more info displaying. I have tried three different backups and always its failed on DATA section.
I should mention that the TWRP restoration of MIUI ROM works correctly in its entirety.
Any idea to solve this problem ?

You can install it from any OS on which you can install adb and fastboot, so w8.1 is included.

I've been searching all the threads and did not find clear instructions. Sorry for not been so knowledgeable and post a question in the Q&A section.

Steps are pretty much the same as when you're installing TWRP, so I assume you have all the necessary software and drivers installed.
Connect device to your PC, remember to have USB debugging on.
Fire up your device in bootloader mode (adb reboot bootloader)
Flash recovery.img from https://mega.co.nz/#!P8IGWBpL!7YVCaAoc8AYFbbXGVVjGtjnL0B9jBih9h35qqX4lIpg this package with fastboot (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
Reboot your device - you will have stock recovery now (fastboot reboot)
Now you can flash official roms
Copy over a new rom (update.app) to /dload folder on your device
Run local update
That's about it
i would extract the recovery.img from the firmware that you want with "huawei update extractor"
Or simply use this tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/asc...eandadjust-t2941186/post56774286#post56774286
Stock Recovery .img is includet.
If you have questions, ask me.

You have to do this in fastboot mode. Try
adb reboot bootloader
Then the phone goes into fastboot mode. Now you have to use fastboot to flash the image:
fastboot flash boot <path to boot.img>

matter of fact you dont even need to have HiSuite installed in order for adb to detect your device. Make sure you have adb correctly installed.

I only find the B613 ROM in China. What is the B615 version?. Can I use this boot.img with B613? Or where can I find B615 rom? Thanks.
B615 update you can found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-p7/general/ota-update-b615-t3033061 i use this because is stable for me
you probably can use this on b613, to root you phone, and then flash back original boot.img, if you have some problems

How do you mount your img file on linux computer?
I tried with:
sudo mount -t ext4 -o loop boot-b615-unlocked-img /mnt/and_boot/
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop0,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
but with no success.

You can't install official updates without having the stock recovery, if you try to, it will reboot to twrp and give you an error.
If you need the stock recovery, here you go: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwQbt3YQTCDCYVRFMUFkdUxYSHc/view?usp=drivesdk
You can flash it via flashify, it's in .img format.

I also had twrp and root I just let the update download and stopped the automatic install. Rebooted into twrp and flashed the update zip (with verification off or it failed). After this I had original recovery and (king)root was gone. Which where easy enough to redo (using supersu now). Everything seems to be working as it should. I made a backup before I tried this. I just wanted to give it a shot and it worked.

update and twrp
Hi
perhaps I can help you.
My situation:
P8 lite: rooted,unlocked bootloader,latest twrp
Download and install Huawei HI-suite on your computer
Connect your phone to the computer
Let the HI-suite download the update and install.
TWRP will finish it.
In my case phone successfully updated. B551 to B565
Just did it: twrp 3.0.2 installed official OTA B585 Full Ale-L21
Download update using updater, then connected to pc i wanted to flash stock recovery, but when usb attached phone rebooted in recovery and started install update.
In log at the end i saw a command unknown (maybe the one that deletes update.zip, i found the file still in my phone after update)
Phone info says:
emui 4.0
ALE-L21C432B585
kernel ver. 3.10.86-g53f7dd5 17 Nov 2016
security patch: 1 Nov 2016
I had to re-install twrp and root (testing systemless)

What was your original firmware? You're best off flashing a firmware from FunkyHuawei via eRecovery to restore. You might need to use the rebranding tool first if there isn't a firmware available that matches your device. You can't flash the update.app via fastboot or TWRP
Or if you have the full firmware package follow instructions from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20/development/rebrand-huawei-p20-eml-l29-eml-l09-t3779283 and you might be able to recover without paying for FunkyHuawei

can you Install TWRP recovery?
Download this file and follow the instructions:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279/
Use this firmware in this post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20/how-to/firmware-release-eml-l29-8-1-0-110c432-t3779477
And this recovery:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-pro/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3779400
I recovered my p20 a few hours ago.
Start by flashing the TWRP recovery and pushing the files to the phone using adb push. Also ensure you rename the files EXACTLY as in the picture instructions in the first link. It's easy to figure out. And don't forget to put the recovery file in there too. Ignore the red error. It works perfectly.
