Text messaging issue. Please help! - Sprint HTC One (M8)

I've done extensive searching on this and can't seem to find a solution. Brand new htc one m8 text messages almost always say they fail to go through, even if do in fact go through. A majority of incoming calls Will never show up either. I've missed several work calls already, can anyone just detail a fix?
Edit: for the record I just switched to Verizon a few days agoafter being on Sprint several years. I posted a thread there but one seems to know what they're talking about.

You can also try #72786# menu reset and it will reactivate your phone try that and it'll usually fix it for me

If you have your msl code you can do ##data# and find the reverse tunnelling and disable it, that worked for me

Thanks, but unfortunately that didn't work for me. This stinks. :'( I've also tried a ##72786# reset and that didn't work either.
Texting works in CPTB's GPE just fine for me though. I dual boot with MultiROM. GPE is now my daily driver because of this, and I leave stock Sense on there to update profile and prl periodically.
I also use the lONElyX Kernel.
Update: Installed the updated lONElyX #23, and now it seems to work. So, some combination of reverse tunneling and/or updated kernel fixed my problem.

It was mine. Texting is working now. I updated my previous post. I am not sure if it was disabling reverse tunneling or the new Kernel, but all is well now. Thanks.

I already ordered a replacement but i have a feeling this issue Will pop up again. Is there no fix without root?
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using XDA Free mobile app

If you can figure out your MSL code, reverse tunnelling fix may work for you without root. But, I'm not sure that is the fix or if a new kernel was.
On a side note, I switched to CPTB's BeyondStock kernel and my texting still works.

First try. Issue with kk's 2012-11-11 JB ROM

Hi all,
My first post, and as of yesterday my first custom ROM. Despite some sweaty moments it worked fine thanks to the guidance on this forum and some leaps of faith Can't reply to the relevant thread directly since I'm n00b.
Was very happy with this, however one killer issue that's meant I've had to revert to stock is that Google Talk (installed via GApps link with the ROM) crashes to desktop (no FC dialog) when i attempt to use voice or video within it. Skype seems to work fine though. Anyone else experienced this? I haven't seen it previously reported on here which makes me think maybe I didn't clear something properly (I used cwm recovery 5.5.0.4 to wipe cache, factory reset and clear dalvik prior to flash). I tried repeating the entire upgrade twice from scratch but same issue is still apparent.
Thanks for the coolness and hopeful for some help and further development.

Hey.
You're not the only one. I have the same issue with Google Talk. I, like you, thought that I wasn't installing something right. I even went as far as using an outdated gapps package, namely 20120726, to no avail. If you've gotten help with this, please let me know. Otherwise, I have no idea what else to do. I don't want to revert to stock because, quite frankly, its terrible. Also, to anyone else reading this, any help would be appreciated.
Try uninstalling talk after you've flashed the Rom and then reinstalling it. Had a similar problem with Google search.

I just checked the tablet and i dont see an option for uninstalling the app. just force close and disable. I also checked the play store to try and download the app, but i dont see it in there. maybe i'm missing something? like i said before, any help would be appreciated.
I'm not familiar with Google talk, is it the same as voice. To uninstall you'll need tibu or something like that.
I did find talk to chat in the play store which maybe the same thing you're talking about

Hey, I just want to thank you for your response. Its been a big help. Unfortunately, google talk isn't the same as voice. Its the chat client that is found in gmail and stuff. They just have a separate app for it on android devices. I think i may just use skype to video chat since i can't seem to find a fix for this and I can't bring myself to go back to the stock rom. If anyone happens to find a fix or knows of one, please let us know. Thanks.

gtalk doesn't work
My first ROM as well and facing the same problem with GTalk. Skype & Hangout on Google+ works fine. I was also wondering probably i missed a step.
But this ROM is so awesome don't want to restore. Other problems I am facing is that USB is not getting recognized on tablet and 3G not working. Any of you facing similar problem with 3G and USB?

As far as 3G, my tablet is the WiFi only, so I can't help you there.
With the usb, have you tried turning on the MTP setting? When you connect the tablet, go to settings>storage> and in the upper right hand side of the screen, if you press on the 3 dot things, you are going to see USB computer connection. press that and you will see the option to turn on MTP. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the replies, glad to know I'm not alone with g talk. Finally got stock ics ota but it's terrible! Prime example is Swype keyboard often appears the size of a credit card. Going back to cm as soon as talk fixed also had the USB issue but didn't try the workaround

CM10 tethering not working on Rogers

First, I tried searching the forum and Google with my problem and I didn't find anything to help me.
I recently flashed CM10 and I love it! The only downside I have is being unable to make tethering work. If I create a wifi hot spot with my vivid and try to connect to it on my nexus 7, it says I'm connected but the wifi sign stays gray.
Bluetooth tether doesn't work either when I'm on my data, but if my phone is connected to a wifi, Bluetooth tethering works.
I thought it was something with my apn settings, but after much research and errors nothing helped. I also tried foxfi and nothing happened.
A little help would be more than welcome!

Yes it can but you'll need to modify a lot, the tethering app would be one and you'll have to add the apns again. I would help but I'm not too familiar with it... Sorry, oh in the development section you can get the apns already zipped so all you'll need to do is replace them in the rom. Good luck.
I'll try this right away! Thanks a lot!

It's not the rom itself its just under development but it can be used as a dd. It just has problems with tethering/hotspot on rogers but it will eventually be fixed like incall mic for att. I think this is an apn issue and that it can be fixed by adding the correct apn xml file and modifying the app since its the app that doesn't work, but that's just me. Meanwhile try using foxfi or something to see if it works.
--Edit--
Yeah the rom is unstable, tried it and had a lot of bugs.

Check your phone now! Android Device Manager

Go into System Settings--->More--->Security--->Device Administrators and check to see if you have the new "Android Device Manager". I just got it today, never got notified of an update or anything... it just *appeared* there outta nowhere lol.
Here is a link to show you what it can do.
It is what it says it is, you can manage your device if it gets stolen or lost and remotely wipe it from the comfort of your own home/computer. There are a lot of 3rd party apps that do this (both paid and free) but it's always nice to see Google integrate this into our devices!
there for me as well, never look there so idk for how long/when.
Holy shizzz! Thanks a ton for this contribution. Never realized it or heard of it.

Strange I cant get this to work with the phone but my tablet was fin (both rooted) I did disabled a few things from google framework tweaks, not sure if that's the reason.

The only way this works is if you keep data on. If you turn it off for whatever reason this service is pretty much null and void since you need an active data signal for this to work.
Does not work for me. Rooted/rebooted and I have the function, but it will not find my phone, ring, etc. I'll keep trying.
i have two phones and both appear on google play but it will only allow me to probe the first phone. changed the "visibility" to "show in menus" setting on google play, didn't make a difference.
edit: found this but i don't have that arrow option to select the other phone. anyone else?
Setting works on both our SGS4's. One rooted stock, one stock. Obviously didn't try wipe. TWRP on rooted so I'm sure it wouldn't work anyway. Nice feature, but you still can't beat Cerberus!

Factory reset not working.. Ideas?

I'm rooted (VZW) and use most of the Xposed modules. I woke up this morning and tried to use touchless controls. Didn't work so I did some investigating. Noticed it was turned off so I turned it on. Didn't work. Rebooted then noticed that reboots turned touchless control off. I tried Google now and while it worked, I didn't hear the usual sound that plays once it's acknowledged "Google". From there I noticed I had no sound whatsoever. Bluetooth was on. I turned it off, sound came back but not touchless controls.
Last night I remembered trying to install themed Google keyboards. While it worked, it took uninstalling the stock Google keyboard, installing the one from Google play, uninstalling Google play version, then installing the themed apk. I had since backed up all my apps, meaning I've written over the stock keyboard. Now I don't really think this would effect touchless controls, since I can't seem to fix them, I figured I'd factory reset and see what happened. Unfortunately, it doesn't work through settings. Just reboots my phone. Any ideas? I've yet to try it through a stock recovery or something similar. I've yet to find answers on how that works on this phone (actually haven't searched yet).

If you rooted using PwnMyMoto then it has overwritten the stock recovery. Basically it writes an Android system without write protection on the recovery partition when you root. You will have to flash stock recovery back and then a factory reset will work.

Please, butt in! I'm hoping to avoid going to stock recovery. Which I'm assuming requires unrooting. I was also having sound issues. No sound until I went into settings and went through ring tones. None would work, no sound. Until I cleared settings from recents and then went back into it and tried again. Then it would work. I began deleting all root apps. It was a module within Xposed. Not sure which but now sound works as it should. I've since deleted all root apps but still haven't fixed touchless controls. It almost seems as if the microphone for touchless isn't working? Aren't there two microphones on this device?

So you've removed Xposed and all modules? Have you rebooted the system since removing them? If I were in your position, I would want to completely unroot and start fresh because if it's a problem with the microphone, it's covered under warranty and you need to get a replacement.
You can follow this tutorial to return to stock, just make sure you download the correct version for your phone. If you're familiar with adb and fastboot, it may be easier to just fastboot flash recovery and system and that should return you to 100% stock unrooted.

Yes, rebooted so much thought I was going to wear out the power button lol. I've switched to my G2 to prepare to go to stock on the X. Was just hoping to avoid going to the VZW store, I really hate dealing those people. Loathe it.
I'm familiar with adb. Just need a good internet connection. I have to use hotspot for internet where I live and while we have TWRP on the G2, no bypass on wireless tether. I thought about trying the method I used on the X but I'm not savvy enough to know if that'll break something. .bak isn't always a sure thing.
Did you have a link to the stock file? I can search it but it looked like in your post you had it.
Edit: all these new phones forgot about the S4. There's my hotspot.

MMS issue

I have a unrooted stock g flex and the phone is awesome. The issue I am having though is after the 4.4.2 update my stock messaging app stopped downloading mms messages weather it be pictures or group texts. I have tried multiple add on sms apps and now 90 percent of me texts come in twice in the add on app. Im getting nothing from the stock app just texts come in twice back to back. I have reset apn and networks also cleared data on the stock app and the sms app with reboot to no avail. Ive even uninstalled the extra app and re installed and it still did the same thing. Any body else ran into this on tmobile?

I have reset apn and networks also cleared data on the stock app and the sms app with reboot to no avail. Ive even uninstalled the extra app and re installed and it still did the same thing. Any body else ran into this on tmobile?

Under APN make sure you have IPv4/IPv6 and not just IPv4

I ran across it on my Galaxy S4 which there was no fix, but not on my Flex.
Have you tried clearing out the phones cache or do a factory reset yet?

I have cleared all system caches a couple times. I haven't done a factory reset yet because I didn't want to have to back up all my pics and stuff if it wasn't going to change anything. I will give it a try tonight. Thanks

Not sure if it will work being that your phone took the update. But try un rooting the phone, then update thru a computer. Then reroot phone.
Just for future use, before doing stock updates always un root the phone first, back to its factory set up.
Lots of rooted phones have issues do to trying the OTA updates while rooted and more then half the times have issues afterwards cause their rooted OS is missing original software that the update requires.

Please explain to me how you think that rooting the G Flex will cause it to lose any original software.

You seriously don't know how rooting would effect the stock software, if a custom UI or modified OS is placed onto the rooted phone?

Just an update. I did a factory reset yesterday and it seems to have fixed the issue. I have received a few MMS today with no issue. My group message seems to be working again as well. Thanks for your responses.

Rooting doesn't take away any of the stock software, installing a custom UI and modifying the OS is something completely different from attaining root. Seriously.

And the purpose of gaining root? I doubt its just the purpose of having a rooted phone.
Seriously...... If all you and your little buddy can do is question other people, instead of answering the questions at hand then maybe this isnt the forums for you boys.

Getting defensive the way that you are, and labeling us as "boys" is a pretty good indication that you aren't capable of holding a discussion here.
